Note added 4 May: As a result of the feedback given by MNers - Gift Wink have asked us to pass on the below -

We would like to say a huge thank you. The level of detail and insight we received from you guys far exceeded our expectations and we genuinely appreciate every single comment we received. We are going to work on a couple of themes of work as a result:

  1. More gift content! We are going to add more gift content, especially in the women and men's sections. A number of you would also like a section with lower priced gifts, so we will add this in too (handy for school birthday parties!).
  1. Filtering the gift suggestions. A lot of you wanted to filter the gifts on price, so this is a priority for us to implement. We are also going to build some gift categories in the women and men sections around themes such as "gardening" or "beauty" or "experiences", so you can filter against the type of gift you want.
  1. There were a few functionality issues that we are need to work on. Not knowing the year of birth was a common issue when you were trying to add in birthday alerts, so we are adding in some age bands so you can still give us a good idea on roughly how old they are (so we can get the gift suggestions right). We are also going to build a better way to serve gift suggestions that match what people's likes and dislikes are.

We're completely committed to building a product that helps you remember important birthdays and browse gift inspiration in the most efficient way possible! Please do let us know if you have any further thoughts or feedback. We'd love to hear from you.

Q1. How would you describe Gift Wink in a couple of words?
Simple, Attractive
Q2. What do you like most about Gift Wink?
It gives original gift ideas for people of different ages
Q3.If you could change one thing about Gift Wink what would it be?
I would add a filter feature which shows presents based on price e.g. Less than £20, £20-£30, £40-£50, Over £50
Q4. What features could you not live without?
None, although the birthday list is useful
Q5. Would you be interested in posting your own gift ideas to Gift Wink?
Yes
Q6. Would you buy a gift from Gift Wink? If no, please tell us the main reason why
Yes possibly
Q7 On a scale of 0-10 how likely would you be to recommend Gift Wink to a friend or family member? Please use a scale where 0 is would not at all and 10 is definitely would
At the moment I would say 7 - just because the catalogue is limited at the moment which I think should grow in time
Q8. Are there any comments or suggestions you'd like to share with Gift Wink?
I'm sure there are lots of enhancements that are planned or in the pipeline. As the number of products grow a filter would definitely be required to avoid scrolling through pages. As I mentioned above I would start with Price, then check boxes for filtering on types of gifts e.g. clothing, jewellery, toys etc.
Also a keyword search would be useful.

amylauren1 · 28/04/2016 14:45

Q1. How would you describe Gift Wink in a couple of words? Helpful, fun and unique.
Q2. What do you like most about Gift Wink? The gift suggestions are a little left field. Not necessarily what I would consider.
Q3.If you could change one thing about Gift Wink what would it be? The name isn't great but the site is very good.
Q4. What features could you not live without? The gift suggestions - and page links - are excellent.
Q5. Would you be interested in posting your own gift ideas to Gift Wink? Probably not.
Q6. Would you buy a gift from Gift Wink? If no, please tell us the main reason why. Yes, possibly, or at least I would consider buying from a suggested site, as long as Gift Wink would then link back in order to acknowledge they were the original source.
Q7 On a scale of 0-10 how likely would you be to recommend Gift Wink to a friend or family member? Please use a scale where 0 is would not at all and 10 is definitely would. 8.
Q8. Are there any comments or suggestions you'd like to share with Gift Wink? I think that the present suggestions could be slightly cheaper. It seemed that there were only a couple of suggestions within an affordable range. Perhaps there could be a note on the original input page (where you add the date/birthday/anniversary) where you could note how much you would be expecting to pay?

Lent1l · 28/04/2016 20:50

Q1. How would you describe Gift Wink in a couple of words?
Quirky, new and fun
Q2. What do you like most about Gift Wink?
The ability to add a range of birthdays in and then see all on the front page showing ideas for each person.
Q3.If you could change one thing about Gift Wink what would it be?
Greater selection for adults. Seemed a little generic and ages were not taken into account as much.
Q4. What features could you not live without?
Didn't notice anything specific that I couldn't live without.
Q5. Would you be interested in posting your own gift ideas to Gift Wink?
Yes. Might help to diversify the ideas especially for adults
Q6. Would you buy a gift from Gift Wink? If no, please tell us the main reason why
I probably would. If I saw something I liked and had need for.
Q7 On a scale of 0-10 how likely would you be to recommend Gift Wink to a friend or family member? Please use a scale where 0 is would not at all and 10 is definitely would
About an 8.
Q8. Are there any comments or suggestions you'd like to share with Gift Wink?
Didn't seem smooth on my phone to use the site. Even putting in dates it had trouble recognising the input. So much is done from my phone these days that websites need to be seamless in that respect for me.

Q1. How would you describe Gift Wink in a couple of words?

Q7 On a scale of 0-10 how likely would you be to recommend Gift Wink to a friend or family member? Please use a scale where 0 is would not at all and 10 is definitely would

I would say a 5 definitely would recommend Gift Wink to my friends, Family.
Q8. Are there any comments or suggestions you'd like to share with Gift Wink?
Maybe more gifts for men / boys as there is not a whole range for them, apart from that keep up the good work ☺️

greatbigwho · 29/04/2016 11:46

Q1. How would you describe Gift Wink in a couple of words? Easy to set up, good reminder service.
Q2. What do you like most about Gift Wink? Some fab suggestions, and a nice range of shops.
Q3.If you could change one thing about Gift Wink what would it be? The option to remove gifts from the suggestions - I know you can add things to a wishlist, but if you were able to register likes and dislikes, and that influence further suggestions, that would be good.
Q4. What features could you not live without? Probably the wish list function.
Q5. Would you be interested in posting your own gift ideas to Gift Wink? Possibly as a secret option? Would be nice to be able to add links for future reference.
Q6. Would you buy a gift from Gift Wink? If no, please tell us the main reason why I think so! I wouldn't rely on it as the main source for presents, but I can see myself using it in conjunction with other sources.
Q7 On a scale of 0-10 how likely would you be to recommend Gift Wink to a friend or family member? Please use a scale where 0 is would not at all and 10 is definitely would 8
Q8. Are there any comments or suggestions you'd like to share with Gift Wink? Want to hire a proof reader/copy editor? ;-) There were a lot of niggly errors in the product descriptions, which I found a bit irritating after a while, and it did cloud my opinion of the website slightly. It's a fab idea, and really good looking website, and multiple sloppy errors really let you down. Also, and I don't know if this is me being dense - I couldn't see anywhere that said how far in advance you get emailed a reminder? I'd like the option to change this for different birthdays - I have friends abroad that I would need a bit more notice for!

MiniLop · 30/04/2016 11:15

Q1. How would you describe Gift Wink in a couple of words?
Helpful and easy to use
Q2. What do you like most about Gift Wink?
That I got birthday reminders - I'm terrible at forgetting and leaving things to the last minute.
Q3.If you could change one thing about Gift Wink what would it be?
More personalised gift suggestions, although I added 'likes' for each person, I found the gift suggestions weren't always tailored to that.
Q4. What features could you not live without?
The birthday reminders.
Q5. Would you be interested in posting your own gift ideas to Gift Wink?
Yes, it might help them to choose more personal gift ideas for others in the future.
Q6. Would you buy a gift from Gift Wink? If no, please tell us the main reason why
Yes, as long as it was a reasonable price and I couldn't find it significantly cheaper elsewhere. I don't mind paying a small premium for the service.
Q7 On a scale of 0-10 how likely would you be to recommend Gift Wink to a friend or family member? Please use a scale where 0 is would not at all and 10 is definitely would
7
Q8. Are there any comments or suggestions you'd like to share with Gift Wink?
It's a good concept but needs some work.

danson16 · 01/05/2016 22:17

Q1. How would you describe Gift Wink in a couple of words?

Inspiring, new

Q2. What do you like most about Gift Wink?

I like that I can put loads of birthday's in, so can find gifts for everyone

Q3.If you could change one thing about Gift Wink what would it be?

More gift choices, its quite limited

Q4. What features could you not live without?

Being able to input birthdays

Q5. Would you be interested in posting your own gift ideas to Gift Wink?

Yes definitely! It's always good to get others prospective on gift ideas

Q6. Would you buy a gift from Gift Wink? If no, please tell us the main reason why

I would possibly, but I would like a lot more choice to choose from

Q7 On a scale of 0-10 how likely would you be to recommend Gift Wink to a friend or family member? Please use a scale where 0 is would not at all and 10 is definitely would

7 currently - with more gift ideas would be 10

Q8. Are there any comments or suggestions you'd like to share with Gift Wink?

I think its a just not a big enough selection of gifts to choose from, could do with a far wider range and better gift ideas for older people

mrsminx · 02/05/2016 07:07
  1. fresh, simple, new
  2. New ideas from multiple sites in one place
  3. Ability to add without birth year
  4. All of it, not something i have needed before
  5. Yes i think its a good idea but could become over crowded, needs control
  6. I think I would yes
  7. 7
  8. I think the ages need brackets, some of the things for a four year old I would buy for a three year old etc. Also, the adult gifts are too generic, things needs to be specific for ages, especially milstones to make it more useul
PrincessofPersil · 02/05/2016 08:47

Q1. Easy, quick and simple.
Q2. I liked how quickly I could input the birthdays.
Q3. I'd make it more tailored for adults - children's presents can be fairly generic, but presents for adults need a bit more thought put into them.
Q4. It's useful to have the list of upcoming birthdays in the top-right corner of the homepage.
Q5. Yes, if there was an incentive to do so.
Q6. Yes, although I would check the price elsewhere first.
Q7. 3 - I don't know anyone who has problems recording birthdays on a calendar, but if someone commented to me that they had this issue, I would recommend Gift Wink.
Q8. It would be useful to have a budget option when setting the birthdays - I wouldn't ever spend £35 on a birthday gift for a friend's child, so these gift suggestions might as well be filtered out,

mrsbunnyw · 02/05/2016 16:46

Q1. How would you describe Gift Wink in a couple of words?

It's ok but unoriginal.

Q2. What do you like most about Gift Wink?

It's easy to use.

Q3.If you could change one thing about Gift Wink what would it be?

Actual personalised recommendations that take account of the information entered such as likes/ dislikes, age.

Q4. What features could you not live without?

does not apply

Q5. Would you be interested in posting your own gift ideas to Gift Wink?

No

Q6. Would you buy a gift from Gift Wink? If no, please tell us the main reason why

I would have no objetion in principle, if prices were competitive, but I have not found any of the suggestions to be suitable or in any way different fromjust entering gender and age on any of a number of websites.

Q7 On a scale of 0-10 how likely would you be to recommend Gift Wink to a friend or family member? Please use a scale where 0 is would not at all and 10 is definitely would

0 - it adds nothing of value to what it is already available.

Q8. Are there any comments or suggestions you'd like to share with Gift Wink?

It gives the impression that gift ideas will be tailored to the specific information entered for a recipient, particularly likes/ dislikes and age - otherwise what is the point of requesting this information - but the suggestions that I received were all generic 'girly' ideas, despite me entering 'girly' as a dislike, and suggesting science, outdoors and adventure as likes, and rarely age-appropriate. This feature needs to be considerably improved for the site to add anything of value to the market.

regularbutpanickingabit · 03/05/2016 10:59

Q1. How would you describe Gift Wink in a couple of words?
Quick, easy, helpful

Q2. What do you like most about Gift Wink?
Good layout, easy to use

Q3.If you could change one thing about Gift Wink what would it be?
Definitely a search via budget option

Q4. What features could you not live without?
Think that's overstating a bit! The wish list and birthday reminders are good

Q5. Would you be interested in posting your own gift ideas to Gift Wink?
Possibly

Q6. Would you buy a gift from Gift Wink? If no, please tell us the main reason why
Probably yes, for convenience. However, it would be good if I could see a transparent price comparison.

Q7 On a scale of 0-10 how likely would you be to recommend Gift Wink to a friend or family member? Please use a scale where 0 is would not at all and 10 is definitely would
5 - I do the same kind of thing myself on google, moon pig, calendars etc and so don't feel this adds a huge amount for me personally. However, if someone was less confident/less bothered about doing it themselves then this website would work very well

Q8. Are there any comments or suggestions you'd like to share with Gift Wink?
The search function could be improved with better and less traditional ideas, plus think about the budget options

Cashncarry · 03/05/2016 12:55

Q1. How would you describe Gift Wink in a couple of words?
Highly User-friendly

Q2. What do you like most about Gift Wink?
Unlimited amount of birthdays

Q3.If you could change one thing about Gift Wink what would it be?
The general search facility could be more specific

Q4. What features could you not live without?
The reminders are good if I'm too lazy to use the phone/tablet/calendar/diary

Q5. Would you be interested in posting your own gift ideas to Gift Wink?
Maybe - if customers were to post their own recommendations, I'd rather they come up under a separate heading iyswim

Q6. Would you buy a gift from Gift Wink? If no, please tell us the main reason why
Yes, I probably would but only after I'd done some research online to make sure that was the cheapest way to purchase.

Q7 On a scale of 0-10 how likely would you be to recommend Gift Wink to a friend or family member? Please use a scale where 0 is would not at all and 10 is definitely would
Depends on the family member or friend! I have a highly organised friend who would scoff at this sort of thing. My less organised brother however would be a perfect candidate for recommendation.

Q8. Are there any comments or suggestions you'd like to share with Gift Wink?
I think the search facility is too wide and could do with adding in variables such as specific age, price bracket, type of gift and so on.

NerrSnerr · 03/05/2016 15:23
  1. An easy way to find gifts for loved ones.
  2. I liked the search feature. Was really easy to search what I wanted
  3. I would make the age ranges more specific
  4. The search function
  5. Yes I would, I would enjoy doing this and it would help me remember ideas for people.
  6. Yes, if something caught my eye.
  7. 8 I works recommend. My memory is shit and this app will help be remember birthdays
  8. I really like this app. It will help my poor memory!
Tonkatol · 03/05/2016 21:32

Q1. How would you describe Gift Wink in a couple of words?
User-friendly, helpful.

Q2. What do you like most about Gift Wink?
Had some really good ideas for gifts - particularly for men. Also liked the way the ideas were completely different to what I would have thought of.

Q3. If you could change one thing about Gift Wink what would it be?
Be able to organise the lists of ideas by price.

Q4. What features could you not live without?
I am fairly organised so would be able to live without this site. However, the different ideas were very helpful when trying to choose gifts for friends.

Q5. Would you be interested in posting your own gift ideas to Gift Wink?
Yes, possibly, depending on how frequently this would need to happen.

Q6. Would you buy a gift from Gift Wink? If no, please tell us the main reason why
Yes I would buy a gift from Gift Wink, provided the item was competitively priced. However, once I saw a gift I liked and thought appropriate, I would check on other sites first to try to find the best price.

Q7 On a scale of 0-10 how likely would you be to recommend Gift Wink to a friend or family member? Please use a scale where 0 is would not at all and 10 is definitely would
I would give the site an 8. It is a really good idea and would definitely recommend it to friends struggling for ideas for gifts.

Q8. Are there any comments or suggestions you'd like to share with Gift Wink?
I would definitely recommend being able to sort gifts according to budget and would also like the option to be able to save the gift ideas to a person’s name - that way, having chosen some options, I could then easily look back and reflect on what I think is the best option.

  1. Essential for busy mums!
  2. I was overwhelmed by the suggestions, some really fantastic things that I just simply wouldn't have come across or even had time to think about. The site is so easy and simple to use. I am very impressed.
  3. When you enter the DOB it should ask for the age next birthday or DOB. Most I knew the age but then took me a while to think about the year of birth. I would like it to set a max budget when you register that way the suggestions are more relevant.
  4. Different gift ideas I wouldn't have found and the ability to keep birthdays logged centrally. I am more likely to buy several gifts at once this way too.
  5. Yes
  6. Yes

  8. It would be good to set it up like an app with push alerts for birthdays coming up.
