This thread is for the MNers who've been trying out Pampers Baby-Dry Pants with their child.

Here’s what Pampers say, “Thank you so much for signing up to try our new Baby-Dry Pants – you’re some of the first people in the UK to try them and we can’t wait to hear what you thought of them. We really hope you and your little one found them easy to use, as well as providing the reliable dryness you’d expect from a normal taped nappy.”

Below are some questions to get you started but please feel free to add other comments too.

Please state the age of your child and the size of Baby-Dry Pants nappies you were trying in your response.

  • Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?
  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?
  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?
  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?

Everyone who comments on this thread and completes the survey we sent via email will be entered in to a prize draw where one MNer will receive a £200 John Lewis voucher.

Thanks and good luck!

Please state the age of your child and the size of Baby-Dry Pants nappies you were trying in your response.
He is 2yrs and 4 months

  • Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?
Very
  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?
They kept my child comfortable and dry both day and night
  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?
Very good
  • Would you consider buying them in the future?
Possibly, depending on price. They were also more difficult to change than a standard nappy when soiled
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
I think they are useful when babies are getting more active and won't stay still for nappy changes, easier than wrestling into a nappy when they're wriggling away from you!
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?
Yes

Thank you.

  • Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?

VERY satisfied. I'd definitely buy them as my regular nappy.

  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?

They performed extremely well. There was no discernible difference in comfort/leakage than the standard Pampers Baby Dry nappy.

  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?

Excellent. 10 out of 10.

  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes. They are so much easier to use than regular nappies. I don't need to wrangle my boy onto a change mat, particularly when he is busy playing. I can just rip the old nappy off, and pull the new one on while he's standing (for wet nappies of course).

  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?

They did indeed. My husband and I had only been saying recently that this sort of product would be a godsend, and it really is.

  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?

Absolutely. They are so user friendly and much nicer to use for the little one as they get much more uninterrupted play.

  • Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?
Averagely satisfied
  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?
Good, no leaks
  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants? Excellent
  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not? Yes but for a younger baby, not toddler
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not? Yes, I liked the convenience of pulling them up on the toddler, but I wouldn't use them in winter when out and about as have to fully take off my little boys trousers/boots etc to put them on
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit? Yes

My child is aged 2.5 and is size 5

Chococroc · 23/09/2015 19:43

Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?

I was really impressed. I went into the trial pretty cynical and could get my head around why anyone would bother with 'pants' for a baby as young as mine (6months). In reality though, I've found them to be great. I actually found them really easy to put on, now DS can lean on me when pulling up trousers etc.

  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?

Very well, we didn't have any leaks and DS seemed comfortable. The pull up style avoided mistakes in doing up the nappy, leaving gaps for leakage. As DS is at a wriggly stage this is really useful.

  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?

No complaints.

  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?

Potentially. If the price was right, we currently use Aldi nappies though which are a lot cheaper than Pampers unfortunately.

  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes, I hadn't expected to find it a convenient way to put a nappy on a 6 month old but it countered the problems of a wriggly baby.

  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?

Yes absolutely.

ohidoliketobe · 23/09/2015 19:45

DS is 15 months and we tested size 4

  • Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?
Very. Quite sceptical when they first arrived as DS is quite skinny and wasn't convinced they'd be tight enough but they're great.
  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?
Fantastic. We usually use pampers regular baby dry nappies at night and these ad good with the added bonus it was much easier to get them onto DS who is very wriggly and can be a nightmare to get to sit/lie still during nappy or clothes changes.
  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?
Great
  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes. As above, as good as usual pampers we use but easier to put on.
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
My DS is nowhere near ready for potty training but these nappies were fantastic performing with clever design for removal.
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?
Yes, especially as DS is fairly skinny and we've had no leaks
Leeanne2205 · 23/09/2015 19:51
  • Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?
I thought they were good, but my 2 yr old kept asking to put her Dora pull ups on instead .
  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?
The pants were good during the day but at night where my little one sleeps for 13 hrs when she got up and took pull up off her bottom and thighs were wet, so don't think they hold the wetness in the pull-up .
  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?
Not very good for night time
  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
I would consider buying them if the locking in the wetness was sorted and also pricing of product .
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not? I still think they are for potty training as pull ups are so much more expensive than nappies.
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?
Yes I would .
dorotheamink · 23/09/2015 19:52

My little boy is 18 months and we tried size 5. It was great to try these but I'm not sure they are right for him, or whether a size smaller would have been better. He is a slim little boy (still in size 9-12 trousers despite his age) and is extremely active. I tend to buy a pampers BabyDry for nighttime and aldi 4+ or 5s for daytime.

  • Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?
I've tried pull-ups before and they were great, I would continue to purchase if they weren't so expensive. So I was keen to try these and it was brilliant to have a big pack to give them a proper go. But I was disappointed. Possibly it's to do with the fact that he is slim but I found that the pants were very roomy at the top and the elastic wasn't really tight enough for him. I am guessing it would be much better for a chubbier child!
  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?

There were no leaks but I found that when dealing with a poo, it would be...how can I put this...just everywhere. All the way up the back, up the front...again, I put this down to the size more than anything but it is relevant as he wears size 6 at night and never leaks or has a problem like this, so it is something to do with the design, I think.

  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?
As above, good for wet nappies, and there were no leaks, but the poo travelled! That said, it didn't travel outside the nappy.
  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
For the reasons above, I probably wouldn't, although maybe a smaller size would work better. My little boy is a wriggly child and refuses to lie down for changes, so I did like the pull up style and how I could tear the nappy at the sides to remove it. They were slightly more difficult to put on an unwilling child too, as he had to step into the clean nappy. I didn't expect this, I thought they would be much easier than traditional nappies.
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
I am sure they are great for children where they fit properly and maybe less wriggly children. I wouldn't give up on them but it wasn't for us at this time.
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?
I think it would depend on the child but possibly yes.

Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?

Really satisfied. I enjoyed trialling them on my 2yr 1month DS, and we trialled size 4 (he was very premature, hence the small size!)

How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?

They performed well. We usually use reusable terry squares, so I was pleased to have some longer spaces between changes! Overnight they were great - 12 hour stretches and no leaks. I like the slim profile of them, so they are great under clothes - definitely more comfy and flexible that terries!

You need to address the sticky tab at the back though - it's rubbish! I resigned myself to the fact that they didn't wrap up like a normal nappy - and hence take up more room in the bin and landfill!

How would you rate the dryness of the pants?

Excellent.

Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?

I have to say probably not. We use reusables from an environmental point of view, and are committed to them. I might consider them for holidays, but only if the retail price was low (which it won't be, considering they're Pampers!).

Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes, it did convince me. As others have already said, it was easier sometimes with a very active little boy, especially as you could just change wet ones with him standing up. He also liked the 'big boy pants' novelty of them. But I'm a little sceptical about the long term benefits from using them with younger children and then running into potty training. I'm afraid I think that wearing pull-ups just let the child know it's okay to pee their pants.

If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?

I don't know that I would actively recommend. I've certainly told my friends about trialling them, so I would probably mention them, but not necessarily recommend.

  • Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?
Overall I was satisfied with the performance of these pants/nappies
  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?
Both day and night they were great, seemed comfy to wear no tight waist band/tabs. And not worrying about sticky tabs becoming loose.
  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?
Dryness seemed good
  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes would buy again - Depending on the price
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes, easier to change a wriggly baby when they don't want to lie down.
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?
Yes I probably would recommend

  • Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?

Very satisfied

  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?

We used them at night mainly and they were great. no leaks!

  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?

Absorbed well and very dry on top.

  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes as long as the price was comparable to the baby dry we use. My daughter loves them and likes her 'pants nappies'much better than her 'baby nappies' (I didn't realise they weren't on sale yet - we may have problems when we run out so could you get on with it please!Grin)

  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes they are so much easier to put on a toddler rather than trying to get them to lie down for a nappy.

  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?

Yes

Tried these with 2.10 DD. Had size 6.

I like the idea with the tabs on the back for sticking it together to throw away but it doesn't work brilliantly as it unsticks too far and pulls apart.

Thanks for letting us try them out

idleweiss · 23/09/2015 20:20

I tested the size 5 with my 15 month old DS.

Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?
Very, I was actually quite surprised as they exceeded the expectations I had of them.

  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?
Fantastically, the fit was great and I experienced no leaking (gasp!)
  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?
Really great!
  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes I would, I liked that they were softer & stretchier than the brand I usually buy, and provided great dryness and comfort for my little one.
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes, the absorbency was far better, and were fantastic for night time use, compared with other potty training pants I have used with my older in the past. Plus my DS will not lie down on a change mat so these are brilliant!
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?
Definitely, I was quite impressed.
allybird1 · 23/09/2015 20:43

Hi. I have been trying size 4 on my (just turned) 1 year old girl. Overall I would say that I was very pleased with the product. I would not have thought about using this type of nappy before toilet training, but I thought that they did a very good job of holding up to a very wiggly 1 year old. I found them easier to put on than my usual nappy. I found that they lasted extremely well during the night, as that is when my dd usually wakes up due to a wet nappy, as well as during the day. I would give them 10/10. They were also very soft and comfy. They didnt rub or seem constricting but gave good reliability. I couldn't fault them. I would definitely recommend them to others and was very satisfied.

Slydragon · 23/09/2015 20:47

I have really enjoyed taking part in the trial so thank you. I was testing the size 4 pants and my daughter is 1 year old - here is my feedback:

- Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?
I was very satisfied with the pants as they offered serious advantages to normal nappies and taking part in the trial allowed me to see this. I had not previously considered pants for my baby before though I can now see that they offer something different to normal nappies. I was a little worried that the pants might not cope as well as normal nappies for my 1 year old but was pleasantly surprised and experienced no leakage at all even after a jumperpoo (when she decided to poo while in the jumperoo and continue bouncing violently usually resulting in poo up front and back!).
I used the pants both day and night during the trial and they held up perfectly. They were also substantially easier to put on and take off than normal nappies especially as my daughter is extremely wriggly during nappy change so it was nice not to have to fiddle with tabs.
The fit was lovely and looked comfortable with no gaping at all due to the elasticated waistband. They seemed really snug without being tight.

- How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?
The pants performed excellently and I experience no leakage whatsoever.

- How would you rate the dryness of the pants?
The pants never felt wet at all even around the legs (where I would sometimes get a little leakage). They seemed to absorb really well so my daughter did not experience any red bum/nappy rash which she sometimes gets from wetness against the skin.

- Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes absolutely because to me these are far superior and easier than normal nappies for my daughter (mostly due to her wrigglyness!)

- Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes, though I do think this has a lot to do with the fact my daughter is very wriggly. If she was not so mobile I am not sure it would be quite so much of an advantage.

- If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?
Yes I definitely would. Having never even considered pants before I am an utter convert now.

xx

hanliying · 23/09/2015 20:47

Overall I am very impressed with pampers baby dry, especially its performance at night. Definitely will continue to use and recommend to others

abcxyz123 · 23/09/2015 20:49

I tested size 4 on my eight month old DS.

  • Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?
Very satisfied
  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?
No leaks day or night. The stretchy sides work really well (although my 3 year old DD thought that they looked like frilly "girls' nappies" on my DS)
  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?
Great. Comparable to the Baby Dry we usually use
  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes, as long as the price was comparable to Baby Dry. I was expecting to find them easier to put on than normal nappies, but I had trouble with getting wildly kicking legs into the leg holes. I would expect them to be brilliant for slightly older babies and toddlers who are standing/walking.
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes, there are no disadvantages of pants over nappies (unless the price is higher)
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?
Yes!
Whyisitsodifficult · 23/09/2015 20:53
  • Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants? Not very satisfied here!
  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time? Although they never leaked, they filled up very very quickly. Even after 1 hour she looked like she had a bowling ball between her legs it was so full! I dare not try them out at night.
  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants? Not great for us.
  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not? No wouldn't buy them again as just filled up too quickly resulting in more frequent changes.
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not? I have always moved onto pull ups when my babies get old enough as they're more convenient and get baby into the idea of having pull ups like pants/knickers are.
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit? Maybe my daughter is a heavy wetter although I've not noticed this in my regular nappy (Naty). So although it was a comfortable looking nappy I wouldn't recommend purely on my experience with them. Sorry, but thanks for the trial!
Whyisitsodifficult · 23/09/2015 20:54

Whoops! Sorry she is 2.5 years and we trialled size 6.

JessicaJadex · 23/09/2015 21:04

Trialled for my 20 month son.

Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?
Very satisfied, better than expected.

  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?
Really absorbent, no leakages or problems whatsoever. Really impressed with them.
  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?
10/10
  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
I would continue to use at night time, or when we are at home. Only problem i did come across was, when out for the day, wearing the pants would mean taking shoes and trousers off for every nappy change, which can become a chore with a very strong willed 2 year old. I'll definitely use them when potty training though.
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
Like I mentioned about, I do think they're for potty training due to the fact that we'd have to strip the child off every single time he had a nappy change, so we could put new pants on.
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?
Yes definitely.

Other comments: loved the feel of these nappies, they were softer than anything we've ever used before, and fit perfectly leaving little to no markings. I was really impressed with the overall product.

StuffYouAllInTheCrust · 23/09/2015 21:10

Thanks for allowing us to take part in this product test. My Daughter is 20 months and we used a size 5.

Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?

Very satisfied. I was wary that a pull up wouldn't fit as well as a standard nappy put was pleasantly surprised. Change times became a faster process! I figured the best way to dispose of the nappy was to to roll it and tuck the end over (like an envelope!) after removing so I could use the sticky tab to hold it together. Seemed to do the trick just fine.

How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?

Daytime they were superb, no issues at all. We did experience a couple of leaks over night so I was a little disappointed to find my daughter and her cot wet when I checked on her before I went to bed. I am tempted to put that down to me not positioning the nappy correctly as the nappies were not particularly full when I changed her.

How would you rate the dryness of the pants?

Bar the couple of night leaks mentioned I thought they were actually pretty fab! 9.5/10

Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?

Absolutely. My daughter is moving forward now towards eventual potty training so these are a good stepping stone for her. She loves the fact that she's wearing 'pants' as opposed to a 'nappy' and has been having practice sits on the potty with them around her ankles!

Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes. I wouldn't really have considered them before unless I was 100% on the road to potty training, but will be buying these as soon as I spot them in the shops.

If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?

Definitely. I thought 'Baby Dry' Pampers were more suited to babies who weren't quite mobile yet and had been using the Active Fit nappies. In fact, just days before receiving the test product I had bought Pampers Easy Up Pants as I was unable to get hold of any Active Fit in a size 5 and thought I would give them a go. I have to say I would never buy them again! I found them big, bulky and not at all a good fit on my daughter. She was not comfortable in them at all and I plan on returning a second box (bought on promotion) as I wouldn't use them again. The Baby Dry pants on the other hand, are in a whole different league and I will be making them my regular choice. They are so much softer and better fitting, and the real seal of approval is my daughter is happy and comfortable again!

Thanks again. Will be looking out for these on my next shopping trip!

Andcake · 23/09/2015 21:14

I can't answer the question as ds is refusing to wear them. He is 3 and potty trained for a while now - I was hoping to use these at bed time instead if nappies to make him feel more of a big boy but he screams and Akers them back off again. I can only think that because during potty training nursery put him in nappy pants a few times after he had wet himself that they make him feel like a failure.
I did not use nappy pants/ pull iOS during potty training as he just treated them like nappies...lazy boy

Tried Size 4 for 7 month old

Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?

  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?
Excellent, kept baby dry and comfortable. Plus the more tapered stretchy waist was much more likely to prevent the awful leakage that can occur when weaning!
  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?
Excellent
  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
Absolutely - easy to put on, the tapered stretchy waist helps prevent leaking of number twos, baby is kept dry and comfortable
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
These are definately not just for potty training
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?
Absolutely - please manufacture these ASAP!
AWafferthinmint · 23/09/2015 21:41

My LO is 3 and we tested the size 6.

  • Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?
Really satisfied. They were used at night as little one is still not dry and they coped very well. some mornings it was obvious he had wee'd a lot but there was no leakage at all, very impressive over a 12 hour period. So, a 10 out of 10 for dryness from us. i would definitely purchase these for use again until he becomes dry at night. I'm still not convinced I would use these if we weren't poorly training though, not sure they would withstand a poo and obviously you can't fold them up after use-not sure if this would be much use with a wriggly baby? I would however recommend these to other toddler mums. Little boy was far happier using these as they are more like 'big boy pants' rather than nappies.
WhyCantIuseTheNameIWant · 23/09/2015 22:04

This is missing from my above thread...

When dd was in a skirt or dress, they were ideal.
There was one occasion when I was changing her in the boot of the car, in the rain, in trousers and she had a tape nappy instead. Wasn't worth the hassle of completely stripping her!
