This thread is for the MNers who've been trying out Pampers Baby-Dry Pants with their child.

Here’s what Pampers say, “Thank you so much for signing up to try our new Baby-Dry Pants – you’re some of the first people in the UK to try them and we can’t wait to hear what you thought of them. We really hope you and your little one found them easy to use, as well as providing the reliable dryness you’d expect from a normal taped nappy.”

Below are some questions to get you started but please feel free to add other comments too.

Please state the age of your child and the size of Baby-Dry Pants nappies you were trying in your response.

  • Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?
  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?
  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?
  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?

Everyone who comments on this thread and completes the survey we sent via email will be entered in to a prize draw where one MNer will receive a £200 John Lewis voucher.

Thanks and good luck!

Thank you for letting me test this product on my 2 and a half year old daughter we tried the size 5 pants we were both very happy with them. Smile

  • Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?

I was very satisfied with there baby fry pants great quality.

  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?

The baby dry pants worked better than I would have imagined and actually lasted the same amount if not longer as normal pampers nappies which I was very surprised and happy about they even lasted my daughter all night they are much better than other brands which have 'training pants' out as these other products leak very easily and pampers baby dry don't.

  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?

Definitely a 10 out of 10

  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?

I would definitely buy these in future because I'm very happy with the quality of these nappies and so is my daughter as they are a comfort fit compared to normal nappies.

  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?

The trial definitely made me realise that these pants are not just for potty training although that is the reason I would be buying them because they promote a more comfort for the child/children wearing them

  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?

I already have recommended these products to friends who have kids for when they come out I'm that happy with the product

Standingoutsidethefire · 23/09/2015 14:56

Tested size 6 on 2 yo dd.

*very satisfied with the baby dry pants.
*worked well at changing time as it was easier to change dd. Happier to have pull ups done than lay down for nappy change. Kept her really dry all night too.
*10/10 for dryness
*would definitely buy in the future. Will be ideal when I start potty training in the next few months
*yes, would use daily even if not potty training as really easy to change.
*yes I would recommend

Have used pampers baby dry since day 1 on dd, and will continue to use the pants as we start potty training. Very impressed with this product. Thank you for the chance to test Smile

MoodyMarge · 23/09/2015 14:58

Ive just finished a trial of these in a Size 6 on my 2 year old DS.

  • Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?
Very satisfied, they are soft and good quality, very absorbent and did a great job all round
  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time? Stayed dry both day and night with no leaks at all.
  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants? Excellent, a premium nappy
  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes I would
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes, they are really handy to use if there are not good changing facilities somewhere
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?
100% I would Thanks for the opportunity to try them Smile
SweetSorrow · 23/09/2015 14:59

My daughter is 16 months old and was testing a size 4.

  • Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?
Extremely satisfied, they were so easy to use and did the job perfectly.
  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?
Wonderfully, I have to confess to being a little doubtful at first as previous experience with "pull-up" types haven't tended to contain a lot of urine. These managed absolutely fine overnight and even contained an epic poonami when we were out and about which was fab as I hadn't remembered a change of clothes!
  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?
Brilliant, 10/10
  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
Absolutely, they made nappy changes so much easier as my little girl always wants to be moving around and doesn't want to lie down. She was able to just stand up and step into these and I was able to just tear the sides while she was standing for a change. No fuss or tears!
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
Definitely, even though my little girl is nowhere near ready for potty training, she much preferred nappy change times with these pants and they did the job just as well as any normal nappy.
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?
Yes definitely, my little girl was so comfy in them, I love the stretchy waist as I always panic that Im doing a nappy up to tight! THey kept her perfectly dry both in the daytime and overnight too.

Plastic tab on the back is for when you've taken off the dirty nappy, you peel it and use to stick the nappy together before you put it in the bin. Thanks for letting us try these!

Caillou · 23/09/2015 15:00

Thank you for letting us try these, I tried the size 4 on my chunky 3 months old

  • Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?

I wasn't very impressed with them

  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?

They were dry during the day and night, which was the only positive point I found.

  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?

10/10

  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?

Right now with her being quite little, I do not see the point of pants as she is not strong enough to stand up to put the nappy on. Maybe in the future

  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?

I would say that unless the child is strong enough on his legs, then there is no point.

  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?

I might recommend them for older babies, but definitely not for a 3 months old

Loulabellet78 · 23/09/2015 15:01

Thanks for letting my son be part of the trial. He is 16 months old and trialled the size 4 Baby-Dry Pants.

  • Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?

I was delighted with them. They were incredibly soft and flexible, which made for a really comfortable fit, yet reassuringly secure so as to avoid any leaks.

  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?

They performed brilliantly. The design seemed to spread the moisture and lock it away. My usual brand of nappies does lock away the moisture, but it tends to leave it all upfront, which is less comfortable for my little one.

  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?

Top marks - they sealed away the moisture beautifully.

  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes, definitely. My son is very active and getting him to keep still for a nappy change can be a challenge. He took to the pants immediately and liked putting them on as he could stand up to do it - he even kept still and held up each foot in turn. They turned nappy changing time into something he enjoyed, which is little short of a miracle!

  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?

Absolutely. Having trialled the pants, I don't see why these aren't available from newborns onward. They are definitely not just for potty training.

  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?

Yes, without question.

LostInTheTriangle · 23/09/2015 15:03

Age of child - 1yr 8 months. Tried size 5s.

  • Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?

I was very satisfied. They are soft and fit my daughter well. We are starting to think about potty training so I would certainly switch to them for daytime after her morning poo. I find pull ups a nightmare when it comes to changing dirty nappies. The pants tested are a marked improvement on the other Pampers pull ups we have tried.

  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?

Excellent on wees. No leaks with poo, but only tried once or twice for reasons outlined above. Very full by morning, but no leaks.

  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?

Excellent.

  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?

Definitely, especially if they were on offer at Boots.

  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?

I would say in the main, pull ups are for older babies who are moving towards potty training. It can depend if your child is a wriggler. I find them good for standing nappy changes but again, difficult to remain clean when removing after a dirty nappy. I would mainly use them when we begin potty training.

  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?

Definitely.

Tiredmumno1 · 23/09/2015 15:08

Thanks for letting me take part Smile

Overall the performance of the nappy was excellent. Does the job well.

Had no problem actually, day or night.

I would rate these nappies very highly, and recommend to others.

I think the dryness is good again no problems.

These nappies don't have to be associated with potty training, as they work well with younger children.

Of course I'd buy them in future, they look and feel so comfortable.

As I said above, I will be recommending these definitely. I really didn't encounter any problems, hurry up and bring them out, we want more Wink Smile

PannaDoll · 23/09/2015 15:09
  • Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?

I was quite satisfied with the nappies but thought that they were over-engineered to the extent that I had to read the packet to work out what the sticky tab was for and how to remove the soiled nappy without sliding it off the child. Maybe that was just my 'baby brain'.

  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?

They perform really well in all circumstances.

  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?

I would rate the dryness highly. Pampers are reliable for that.

  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?

I probably wouldn't seek them out for my 4 month of as the pants style make them tricky to wrestle on but maybe when he gets slightly older. A good precursor to training nappies and pants wearing.

  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?

The trial didn't convince me of that as I was trialling them on my 4 month old and it was an extra faff to try and feed his legs into pants style nappies rather than the usual wrap kind. Also if he was wearing separates I had to take the trousers fully off to put the new nappy on... more extra faff.

  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?

I would recommend them for an older baby or young toddler but not for one as young as mine.

Cisforcat · 23/09/2015 15:09

We have been using size 6 for my 21 month old girl.
We found that they were fantastic for ease of use due to her not liking having her nappy changed and so made the process quicker and easier.
She has been showing signs of being ready to toilet train and so these also enabled her to be able to take off and put on herself. Although in some circumstances that was a positive it also sometimes resulted in her pulling them down inappropriately !
It certainly raised her interest in toilet training though so a positive.
Id recommend the product to other most definitely due to finding them easy and quick to use and also effectiveness of them. I found them just a good as baby dry nappies in keeping her dry through the day and night with no leaks.
The pants are definitely for use with potty training and without however as mentioned her taking them down herself because she could , could have been an issue. He fit may have been slightly too loose around the sides which may have been improved if a smaller size was used.
The only reason I wouldn't buy them at the moment is purely down to price. To me he advantage of their use doesn't warrant the massive price difference between them and nappies and currently this is a big decider in what product we use.

All in all a great product, loved be ease of use and easier changing with a wriggling toddler however price is still an issue.

  • Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?

I was satisfied with them although it was annoying to have to take shoes and trousers off to get them on

  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?

Very well, no leaks of wee or poo

  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?

Very dry, very high absorbency

  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?

I probably wouldnt buy them tbh as they were inconvenient as having to completely undress the bottom half everytime at nappy change was time consuming whereas with a nappy you can pull the nappy through the legs without undressing at all

  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?

I agree they are just as absorbent as a nappy so therefore can be used instead of nappies

  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?

Yes for dryness and fit, but no for quick nappy changes

Peaceloveandjammydodgers · 23/09/2015 15:13

Thanks for selecting us to take part. My baby is 9 months old and we used size 5 pants.
The pants were very comfortable on my baby's rather round tummy. I usually struggle to get the waistband done up on Pampers 5+ nappies but the pants were very soft and stretchy and didn't leave any marks on his skin.
We had no leaks, and no accidents with dirty changes, which we often have with regular 5+ nappies. We used one nappy overnight (eleven or twelve hours) and in the morning it didn't feel excessively heavy or sodden. Baby is always dryer when using Pampers over supermarket brands.
It was easy to tear the sides for dirty changes, and just as easy to slip the pants off intact for quick wet changes.
The only issue I had was with the tape. The instructions on the packaging weren't clear enough on how the tape actually works - I didn't figure it out through practice either.
Overall, though, I was very pleased with the performance of the product and would certainly use them again.

My lo is 22 months and she wore size 6 nappies.

I was really impressed with these,
they were good for day and night time. Had no problems at all.

Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?
Reasonable satisfied our daughter 28 month actually leaked through after one hour of wearing them

  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?
Not to well for us I am afraid
  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?
The top sheet was dry feeling so good on that aspect but pants did not hold our daughters output , but she has a bladder condition
  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
Maybe in a smaller size to get a more snug fit
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
I prefer nappies for now I think much easier to change without having to take most clothes off

Yes certainly

  • Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?

I'm using size 4 with my 20 month old. They are fine, she likes the fact that you can pull them up like pants and down and overnight they have not leaked.

  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?

They performed well at night and during the day. I have not ever had a problem with leaking nappies (of any brand) so they seemed to work as well as any others.

  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?

I didn't touch the inside, but they seemed fine, they were a great snug fit.

  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?

Probably not because normal nappies are cheaper and do the job just as well.

  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?

I found that because she wanted to pull them up and down like pants, it was slightly more annoying because, although I know that they can be ripped at the side, she wanted to take them off "properly" so we ended up having to take trousers off as well which can be avoided with a quick lie down nappy change.

  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?

Certainly for dryness and fit although I do find that Pampers are very expensive and in my experience aren't any better (or worse) than the various supermarket own brands.

Thanks very much for letting me try them!

aliedwards · 23/09/2015 15:32

Size 5 Nappies Tested for 11 month old boy.

Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?

They were ok, but tbh no better than Sainsburys Little Ones which are much more affordable.

  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?

Well, there were no leaks but this is my second child and I've learnt just to periodically change the nappy even when its not particularly soiled to prevent nappy rash etc.

  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants? 8/10 there was still a bit of dampness against my sons bottom after a wet nappy.
  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
Probably not but simply due to price.
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes i can see the advantages.
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?
Probably not. I always like to tell my friends of bargain products that still perform well.

18m DS size 5 nappies

  • Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants? Not overly due to leaks
  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time? Great in the day but leaked at night
  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants? Not very well due to leaks
  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not? Maybe when potty training but not now due to leaks
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not? Yes really liked the idea
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit? No due to above issues

I tested size 6 on my 21 month old daughter.

  • Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?
Very satisfied - I was pleasantly surprised actually.
  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?
Very well, just as well as other brand nappies I use.
  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?
10/10
  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes I would if the price is right. They were lovely and soft on the waistband, which I much preferred to normal nappies. Easier to put on and my DD was delighted by her 'big girl pants'. The only niggle I had was having to take off tights/trousers completely to put a new pair on but I would soon get used to it.
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes - we aren't quite at the potty training stage but I would still use these. I was surprised to see how absorbent they are, keeping her as dry as nappies but with better comfort and fit.
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?
Definitely.
Sparkles23 · 23/09/2015 15:38

my daughter is 16m and we tested size 4

  • Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants? Very satisfied
  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time? They were fine during the day, they did leak a couple of times but this may have been due to her teething nappies. I didn't use them at night because of the leaks, I stuck to usual Pampers Baby Dry ones!
  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants? Very good, wicked the wetness away from skin just like the normal Pampers
  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not? I definitely would use them alongside Pampers Baby Dry, my daughter can be v wriggly at times and a nightmare to get a nappy on, I would have these alongside normal nappies and grab one when she is wriggly. I would stick to Baby Dry for night time though given a choice between the pants ones and any other brand I would choose these everytime, I have tried cheaper brands in the past and they just don't compare to Pampers which really take the moisture away from skin unlike cheapo brands.
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not? Yes definitely because they are perfect for when they are in wriggly mode and decent quality so would definitely buy alongside normal Pampers
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit? Yes certainly!
Givemecoffeeplease · 23/09/2015 15:46
  • Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?

V satisfied, no leaks, dry baby, easy to put on. Would be interested to know how long they take to degrade and how bad they are for the planet - I'll always choose an eco option if possible, although of course disposable nappies are by their nature pretty bad for the environment!

  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?

Very well, no leaks.

  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?

Like other Pampers nappies they kept my baby dry.

  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?

I liked the "pants" element, they were easy to put on, didn't come off at night (I have a very active toddler who can "release" normal nappies). I'd consider buying them in future but Pampers are always the most expensive option so it would be price dependent.

  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes, for reasons above. They were easier to put on than anticipated too.

  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?

Yes, i would, i was really impressed with this product!

Nightfall1983 · 23/09/2015 15:55
  • Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants? Overall, very satisfied
  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time? Excellent; I was not expecting them to perform well at night - they look too thin and my DS is a big wee-er at night (despite being potty trained in the day) and often challenges regular nappies
  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants? Really, very good
  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not? I definitely would, I think they are even better than Pampers Baby-Dry nappies for us for night time, sadly I doubt I could justify the price though, maybe when they are on offer.
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not? Well we are potty trained in the daytime so it's a bit different but I liked the fit of the pants for night time which I'd not considered before. Also (and I know this isn't quite what you asked) when he DOES start waking for the toilet in the night these pants will make it easier for him to do so.
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit? I would certainly recommend they gave them a try - in general I think that different nappies suit different babies

-Other
I was disappointment that they are not velcro-ed the way that Huggies PullUps are. It means I have to fully undress DS's lower-half, including shoes in order to put them on whereas with the Huggies ones I can un-Velcro, slip them on whilst trousers are around his ankles and revelcro - whilst still being able to "rip" them off when necessary - much more convenient.

My very first impression was that they look very like the cheapo Asda own brand pull-ups that I bought however they are actually much much softer and do seem to fit better. The sticky tab is very helpful for throwing it away too.

DrDiva · 23/09/2015 15:56

I used these at night on my just-turned-3yo ds (potty trained during the day). We've been looking for something that doesn't leak, as he is an extreme bed traveller! Sadly these performed worse than regular pull-ups for us. Looks like we are a really minority though. He wears size 6.

  • Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants? Not very...
  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time? We had to change the bed after an hour and a half - the pull-up was soaking and there had been considerable leakage around the legs.
  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants? Full after 90 minutes.
  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not? No, regular pull-ups last longer for us.
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not? I have always liked pants more than nappies from the age of walking. He's a champion wriggler.
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit? I might mention their existence and let them make up their own minds.
