This thread is for the MNers who've been trying out Pampers Baby-Dry Pants with their child.

Here’s what Pampers say, “Thank you so much for signing up to try our new Baby-Dry Pants – you’re some of the first people in the UK to try them and we can’t wait to hear what you thought of them. We really hope you and your little one found them easy to use, as well as providing the reliable dryness you’d expect from a normal taped nappy.”

Below are some questions to get you started but please feel free to add other comments too.

Please state the age of your child and the size of Baby-Dry Pants nappies you were trying in your response.

  • Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?
  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?
  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?
  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?

Everyone who comments on this thread and completes the survey we sent via email will be entered in to a prize draw where one MNer will receive a £200 John Lewis voucher.

Thanks and good luck!

We enjoyed the free nappies. Tried them on DD aged 2, size 5.

  • Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?

Very satisfied. They were lovely and soft and very good quality.

  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?

Excellent. The only time we had a leak was when DH didn't make sure it was centred properly on her bottom.

  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?

Very good.

  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?

Possibly. It would depend on price. If price wasn't a consideration, then we would definitely buy them.

  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes. They were very easy to put on; easier than a standard nappy. They were little harder to take off.

  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?

Yes, definitely.

Nectarines · 23/09/2015 17:37

Please state the age of your child and the size of Baby-Dry Pants nappies you were trying in your response.

I tested size 5 with my 23 month old daughter.

  • Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?

Very satisfied. I found them easy to change, absorbent and convenient.

  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?

No problems with the performance of these nappies.

  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?

My daughter seemed dry and comfortable throughout the time we tested them.

  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?

It would really depend on the price and what offers were available. For the right price, I wouldn't hesitate to buy these again.

  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?

My daughter doesn't like lying on changing mats and these made stand up changes so easy. They were a godsend after swimming and when I had to change her in the car.

  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?

Yes, definitely.

WhyCantIuseTheNameIWant · 23/09/2015 17:43

Please state the age of your child and the size of Baby-Dry Pants nappies you were trying in your response.
Little girl, 2 1/2. But the height/weight of a 4 year old.
We used size 5.

  • Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?
The second one I used tore at the side when I opened it to put it on her. Apart from that, they were really nice. They absorbed well.
  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?

They absorbed well. We didn't have a leak!

  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?
Superb!
  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes, as long as then are a similar price to other nappies.
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes, we used them, even though my daughter (with physical development delays) has No interest in the potty yet. She liked pulling them on like knickers.
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?
Yes.
Mummyadventure · 23/09/2015 17:45

Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?

Overall I found them great for performance but I really didn't like the smell. The fit was great and very sbsorbent for day times too

  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?

Throughout the day I found these were great, holding my little ones mega wees and never leaking. They didn't last the night on him, but then we haven't found much that does so far

  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?

very high. these were great for dryness

  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?

I really didn't like the smell, I found it very chemical once my little one had done a wee and I could smell it through his clothes too much. If the smell wasn't as strong then I would definitely consider these as performance was great

  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?

Definitely, I used these in size 4 on my 16lb/6 month old son as I find pull ups are much easier to use - especially as we have to unpopper a baby grow or romper all the way anyway. I found them a great fit on him and very easy to use.

  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?

I would definitely recommend for dryness and fit to other parents, we prefer this fit over a traditional disposable

furryleopard · 23/09/2015 17:53

Thank you for picking us, DD is turning 1 next week and we had size 4 nappies.

Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?
I really liked the design so I was very satisfied.

  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?
I thought they were good over night although they seemed to expand slightly more than our usual brand but it didn't bother DD. She had no marks where the nappy had dug in over night. During the day, the same applies. I think they allow good movement.
  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?
Good, although I thought they expanded a bit more than some brands.
  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
I would if on offer, although I liked them not sure I'd get them over our current supermarket own brand.
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes, I liked the design and DD who loves standing up enjoyed that she got to stand while I pulled them up. The mesh was comfortable as well.
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?
Yes I would as they were good quality. The fit was good without being too tight.

I couldn't work the back plastic bit out really as it didn't seem to work very well. I just didn't bother. I also thought the character design a bit washed out and hidden under the front panel.

Thanks again.

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 23/09/2015 17:53

DS is just turned 1 and we tested size 4.

Overall I was very satisfied. He seemed comfortable in them and they were easy to put on. Only downside was getting them off, I found them hard to rip off and fold up quickly, and DS is into crawling off mid change at the moment so speed is of the essence!

They performed well, no leaks, very happy with dryness.

Whether I'd buy them or not really depends on price. If the same or less as the usual baby dry then yes I would buy them but at DS's age I don't think it's worth paying more for pants

I hadn't considered pants before potty training before this trial so yes it did change my mind

It has come up in conversation and I have recommended them to my Dad as he finds putting a nappy on impossible

superbfairywren · 23/09/2015 18:01

I tested size 4 on my 9month old daughter.

Overall I was very satisfied with the performance of the pants and I would definitely buy them in the future. I found them most useful in the day as my daughter doesnt like lying down for a nappy change now she can stand up so a pull up design works well for her. They held up at night too but didnt seem quite as absorbent as the normal baby dry nappies we currently use at night.. They Were fit to burst by the morning. I really like the material and stretchy waistband..it was soft and seemed more comfortable than normal nappies. I hadnt thought to try a pull up style before as i had thought they were just for potty training but they have been so useful i will definitely look to get some more. The price seems competitive and having tried supermarket own brands I much prefer pampers.

horsewalksintoabar · 23/09/2015 18:17

Thank you for the trial of the pampers baby dry size 5 pants for our nearly 16 month old. As regular Pampers buyers, we love the quality of Pampers anyway and these pants did not disappoint. Soft, comfortable, easy to put on our active runner, and easy to remove like a nappy, they ticked all the boxes. We were very pleased! I felt they stood up very well to the nighttime challenge. We didn't have one leak.
With my other kids, I tried using pull ups (toilet training pants) on them at a younger stage- well before they were trained- simply because they were easy to put on my speedy babies who wrestled and wriggled as I tried to put on regular nappies. But it never worked out because the pants were not meant to accommodate the big urinary load of untrained babies. Also they are not soft, stretchy, and comfy the way these Pampers baby dry pants are. Pampers baby dry pants are brilliant and a real solution to the wriggling baby problem parents face when changing nappies. And they really absorb.
I would definitely choose these Pampers baby dry pants as my main option for our youngest.

Francesca89 · 23/09/2015 18:24

I used these on my 1.5 year old son. He is a size 6.

  • Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?
Pretty satisfied. The softness of the pants are great. They're so easy to take on and off too. I was just disappointed to find they leaked three times, after my son had worn them through the night.
  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?
Fab throughout the day, no leaks what so ever. Sadly, not so great at night. On numerous occasions, my son woke up with wet clothes. I should probably state I am not yet potty training him. He still drinks a lot of milk before bedtime, so the only reason I can think of the leak, is the liquid weighs his nappy down, causing it to leak via the leg hole. The pants fall down with the weight due to the tummy area not being adjustable, like with a normal standard nappy.
  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?
5/10. Even stevens! Great for the day, but not good at night.
  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
Not until my son is potty trained, or drinks less milk before bed.
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
Sadly not. They don't seem to hold as much liquid as your normal standard nappies.
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?
Totally depends on their circumstances really. Whilst potty training and for use during the day, then I would recommend them.

Thank you for letting me and my son trial your nappies :)

itsallme1234 · 23/09/2015 18:25

My daughter is 2 and a half and we tried the size 5

  • Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?
I was totally satisfied with the over all product
  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time? For us they were great during the day and over night. We did a few leaks over night but i think was due to the amount that was drunk over night not the nappies.
  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?
Very good 10/10
  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
I would totally consider buying them again. I would however by the next size down as they seem to come up big. Plus would depend on the overall cost
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes! they are so easy to put on. When you have a toddler tantrum and a toddler who hates to lay down they are great
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?
I would 100% recommend

I would also like to say how much i was surprised by the feel of the nappies/pants. The elastic on the top of the pants is so soft and has a lovely feel and texture which does not rub my daughters skin and upset it like i have had with other branded products.

Oscha · 23/09/2015 18:30
  • Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?

Very in terms of dryness and containment. Slightly less so in terms of getting them on my very wriggly one year old-he doesn't stand by himself for very long so it was a bit tricky.

  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?

Excellently.

  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?

10/10.

  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes, although possibly not until DS is more steady on his feet.

  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?

Sort of. There's definitely something to be said for using pull-ups with toddlers who can follow instructions like 'lift up your foot' and who can stand unaided for a minute or so. I think my DS was just slightly too young.

  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?

Yes.

Oscha · 23/09/2015 18:31

(Sorry, should have said we tried size 4 on my 13mo DS.)

stephloveshoney · 23/09/2015 18:40
  • Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?
Excellent, no problems at all.
  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?
Wonderfully, no leaks and stayed in place.
  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants? 10/10
  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not? Yes, they lived up to expectations.
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
These could be used at and stage really, they stay put and are easy to tear off when used.
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?
Yes, definitely.

Thanks for choosing us to try these :-)

SteadyHand · 23/09/2015 18:44
  • Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?
Very!
  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?
Very well, there has only been one leak (poo) and no wetness leaks.
  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?
9/10- ds has been dry every morning (bedding and clothing)
  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes- they are convenient to use with my wriggly boy.
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes. I would never have consisted them before the product test, but I can really see the advantage for an active baby who hates nappy changes as he doesn't like to lie still.
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?
Yes, absolutely.

Thanks for the trial- you have a new customer!

morethanacondiment · 23/09/2015 18:48

My just 2yo tried out size 5+

  • Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?
I'm very satisfied, they did exactly what I needed them to.
  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?
DD only wears a nappy at night, and she is much happier with this pull-up approach than a tabbed nappy. I was much happier that they keep her drier than a pull-up
  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?
Exactly what we needed
  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
They're just what we need, but the price might be prohibitive for me
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes, I wished they'd been around when I had a bonkers 10 month old refusing to lie down for his tabbed nappy!
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?
I'm still not convinced that they'd work for a runny poo (not a problem with a 2yo who does proper adult poos already Confused)
DirtyWeeRascal · 23/09/2015 18:55

My DS is 23 months and I tried the size 5 nappies on him. I thought that these were good nappies, material on the outside and on the waistband was lovely and soft, not plasticy like the normal supermarket own brand nappies we usually use. They kept my DS dry and poo contained day and night. However, he is very slender and they did slip down his hips a little, so I wasn't overly confident about this (although no accidents did occur). I was also concerned that he would pull them off by himself but he thankfully didn't. I always take his trousers off to change him so no issues there. He didn't seem to notice/ care that he was putting them on like pants. I think their design is probably too nappy like/ babyish to be much use for potty training. I don't think I will buy them again for my own use as they are much more expensive than my usual brand - however, I will buy them for my MIL who struggles with the tabs as I think she will find these much easier to wrestle a wriggly toddler into!

SaltySeaBird · 23/09/2015 18:55

Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?
Very. I thought the elasticated bit around the waist was very good as it was soft and sat really nicely - quite innovative compared to other pull ups we have tried.

- How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?
We didn't use them at night (DD is dry at night) so only tried them during the day, they were very good.

- How would you rate the dryness of the pants?
My DD is mainly dry (just refuses to pop on a potty/toilet) so not sure I can answer this one. They were very dry but that's because they were very easy to pull up and down so she didn't have to ask for help with weed.

- Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes, I felt for comfort and fit they were far superior to other brands of pull up.

- Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes, with DC2 on the way I'll use pull ups before I potty train as when I am out I find them more convenient as I can do a standing change. I think these would perform as well as a nappy for dryness and comfort.

- If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?
Yes. The only thing DD wasn't keen on was that they looked like nappies and she was upset at first. That wouldn't be an issue before potty training though and I actually prefer the styling to look like a nappy for younger / non trained children.

Thank you for selecting us.

SaltySeaBird · 23/09/2015 18:57

Forgot to add DD 2.11 size 5.

kitty1989 · 23/09/2015 19:02

Size 4, 6month old DD

Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?
Unfortunately disappointed. HOWEVER I would still try these with my DD when she is older. My DD is obviously right at the bottom end of the weight guidance and I felt they were a smidgen big. I think Pampers need to rejig the weight ranges.

  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?
OK until poosplosion! The.material is so thin at top and sides that it went everywhere! That made getting the pants off particularly unpleasant. Aside from that she was dry & not sore.
  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants? Good
  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes I would try them in the future once my daughter is a bit older/bigger.
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes. It gets children used to pants before potty training, may make the transition easier.
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?
Not at the moment no, however in the.future possibly yes.

Thank you for allowing me to trial these, although not right for us at the moment, will definitely look for these in the future :)

Catpawprint · 23/09/2015 19:17

16 month girl, Size 4.

  • Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?

Very. I like them a lot.

  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?

As well as her conventional pampers nappies do. Better than the Asda ones.

  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?

10

  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes. I like Pampers a lot.

  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes. My husband thought that they squished her poo further forward and worried about her getting urinary problems from them, but I changed them as soon as she pooed.

  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?
Yes
Solasum · 23/09/2015 19:19

Size 5, 1 year old.

Very satisfied. They were nice and soft, and easy to use, and fitted skinny DS really well.

Good through the day, but brilliant at night time. DS drinks a lot of milk just before bed, so with nappies we have to do a 5am nappy change to be sure the bed stays dry, the pants were much much better.

Lovely and dry.

Yes, definitely. Possibly not for daytime use if they are very expensive, but certainly for nighttime.

Yes, would recommend.

shaunying · 23/09/2015 19:19

We thought the pampers were excellent, not only did they keep our son dry, but they also masked the odours quite well, which is usually quote noticeable with our current brand of nappies when he wakes up in the morning.
Easy to put on and stayed in place despite the amount of wriggling and climbing he does. Thoroughly recommend!

nappyoclock · 23/09/2015 19:21

Tried these pants out with the 2 year old. We tried size 6

Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?

Neither impressed or unimpressed really. Trying to change the toddlers nappies is like trying to stuff an octopus into a string bag. I did like the waistband as it was softer and stretchier than usual, however the sides didnt seem to be really securely glued together and I shredded more than 1 pair trying to get them on.
Also on the pack it said that size 6 was xl, but on the pants themselves it said they were xxl.

How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?

Daytimes, no problems at all, although I did notice that the padding tended to go a bit lumpy when wet. I didnt try them at night time as I have never found any pants I have brought to be absorbent enough to last a whole night. I did like the fit though, they were big enough in the bottom unlike some pull ups you can buy wheere you end up seeing your toddlers bum cheeks hanging out or a builders bum!

How would you rate the dryness of the pants?

The same as the usual nappies we buy really.

Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?

Not sure. If the glue on the sides was a bit stronger like easy ups then yes, I would definitely.

Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?

The toddler is a long way off potty training, and sometimes it is just easier to use pants i.e. changing when about and about, when the toddler is being particulary un co-operative at any given time, so no, they didnt convince me especially that they were for potty training

If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?

If I was asked specifically, then yes. I dont tend to talk about what my toddler has on their arse with my friends though. However I would warn them that the sides do tear quite easily.

scater · 23/09/2015 19:24

We loved these nappies, I have left a review on the site.
They kept my twins dry overnight and through the day.
There was no leaking.
Great to get in wriggling toddlers.
We had previously thought of pull-ups but thought they were only for training and therefor too costly for 15 month olds still in nappies.
I would definitely recommend these and in fact we went out and bought some easyups until we can find these in our local supermarket!

zarinebedford · 23/09/2015 19:24

My son is almost 5 months old & we tried size 4 of the Baby-Dry Pants nappies.
Overall, I was reasonably satisfied; however I wasn't blown away. the overall performance is average. There were no leaks at all but the everyday nappy we already use is far more absorbent. The Pampers nappy pant always looked & smelt soaked within an hour or so of putting on! Day or Night! So despite no leaks I would rate the dryness as average.
My son is a kicker ESP whilst changing and it took me several attempts to get the nappy on as each time he'd kick his legs out. Also being a boy and the dangers of a sprinkle always lurking, I found it stressful that I was unable to put the nappy on as fast as I'd have liked. i would consider buying them in the future, once he has grown out of the crazy kicking. The flexibility of the pants around the waist I did like very much and yes, I was convinced that pants are not just for potty training, it makes sense to start as soon as possible. If it came up in conversation, I would recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for Fit, for design, for comfort but not for dryness. 7/10 for me.
