AngelieMumsnet · 23/09/2015 10:33

This thread is for the MNers who've been trying out Pampers Baby-Dry Pants with their child.

Here’s what Pampers say, “Thank you so much for signing up to try our new Baby-Dry Pants – you’re some of the first people in the UK to try them and we can’t wait to hear what you thought of them. We really hope you and your little one found them easy to use, as well as providing the reliable dryness you’d expect from a normal taped nappy.”

Below are some questions to get you started but please feel free to add other comments too.

Please state the age of your child and the size of Baby-Dry Pants nappies you were trying in your response.

  • Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?
  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?
  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?
  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?

Everyone who comments on this thread and completes the survey we sent via email will be entered in to a prize draw where one MNer will receive a £200 John Lewis voucher.

Thanks and good luck!

Thank you for letting me take part in this, I really enjoyed it.
We have been testing size 4 pampers pants and my son is 10 months old.
-Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?
I am very satisfied with these pants, I think they are very good quality.

  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?
They performed very well both during the day and the night. While he used these nappies, my son had no nappy rash at all and his skin was always dry when I removed the nappy.
  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?
They absorbed all liquid and he always seemed comfortable while wearing them. Although they were lighter than the nappy he usually wears they kept my son completely dry.
  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes, I would definitely buy them in the future if they were at a competitive price because I think the quality is very high.
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes, I am now going to use pants with my son instead of nappies. They are less bulky and now that he won't stay still for very long and crawls away during nappy changing they are easier to put on that normal nappies. I think they give him greater flexibility now that he is crawling so much.
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?
Yes I would recommend it because I was very pleased with how this product performed.

Thanks for letting us try out this product!

JustCallMeBaldrick · 09/10/2015 20:31

DD (19 months) tried the size 4 pants.
I was generally happy with the pants, and DD seemed to like wearing pants like her big sister :-)
The fit was good, but she did have a couple of overnight leaks, and a massive gel explosion one morning...
I might buy them in future if they were on sale.
I don't think I'd bother with them before potty training, as DD is happy to lie down for changes, but I might when we take the potty-training plunge!
I would recommend them to others (and have done already!) if it came up in conversation.

kohl · 10/10/2015 15:21

DD2 (18m) tried size 5.
I was pretty satisfied with them:
She loved being like her big sister & DD1 found it extremely comical that the baby was in pants.
The fit was good with only a tiny leak when she had an upset stomach and a resulting Nightmare Poo.
I would buy them again if they were on sale, or as we start to get her ready for potty training.
I'd recommend them to others.

cathlaugh · 11/10/2015 16:28

I have been testing size 6 Baby-Dry pants on my 30 month old son.

  • Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants? -

They are really good - no difference than the Pampers Baby Dry nappies we normally use, But without the fiddly side tabs.

  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time? Performed well, but poop an issue for getting them off! Maybe should be easier to rip at the sides
  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants? very good
  • Would you consider buying them in the future? Yes, for potty training - using Pampers Active fit at mo for normal nappies and happier with them
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not? - Useful for out and about when no changing area - think i would i use a combo of these and normal nappies if price was right
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit? - Yes
MummyMonkeySnot · 12/10/2015 10:57

DS is 6 months and we were testing the size 4's.

-Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?

Quite satisfied, felt a bit big on him but never leaked and held everything in. Easy to take off and roll up. He never once had nappy rash with them either. Pampers have always been the best nappies for him and his sensitive skin. With other brands he would get nappy rash so was slightly nervous about using them but he was absolutely fine with them Smile

  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?

We usually use active fit on him as he is quite a wriggly baby and they fit perfectly but these were just as good, no leaks during the day or night, kept him comfortable all night as well and fit really well.

- How would you rate the dryness of the pants?

Very well, never leaked once and he never seemed uncomfortable in them.

- Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes I would but maybe when he's a bit older, only due to the pull up style of the pants when I was getting closer to potty training him, only cause every time I lifted him up to put them on him I thought he would wee on me, he does have form for doing so.
**
- Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?

I think they are a good idea but I am definitely more inclined to use them when preparing him for potty training as then he will be able to stand up so will be easier to put them on him etc atm he is very wriggly and doesn't like keeping still so it was sometimes hard to get his feet in to put them on.
**
- If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?

Definitely and I already have, my DSD and DSS's mum is a child minder and I have recommended them to her for her younger ones. My DM and DF have him sometimes at a weekend and they think they are really good as well, no leaks, good fit and they have recommended them to a few people as well.

Thank you for letting us take part in the review and sorry for the long post! Blush

lorsa · 12/10/2015 16:26

DS is 22 months and wears size 5

  • Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?
Very satisfied.
  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?
They kept him dry all night, which our usual Aldi nappies don't (nor did the Pampers we had tried previously). This meant he slept more than usual which was fab (very poor sleeper!). I used them a couple of times in the day and although he remained dry, they looked very heavy and full very quickly.
  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?
10/10
  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes, definitely for night times but not for the day.
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
I don't really intend to use pants even for potty training. I'll use nappies then switch to normal pants as with my elder DS I felt that they didn't benefit the potty training at all. However, am happy to use these for night time.
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?
Definitely- especially for night times. Can't recommend enough!

Thanks for letting us be involved in this trial.

kazzybabes · 12/10/2015 18:21

My child is 8 months old and we were trialling the size 4 nappies.

  • Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?

Overall they weren't as good as I had hoped they would be, definately prefer regular nappies, for babies anyway!

  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?

They performed okay, they stayed dry during the night if just wet nappies but during the day they did not cope with poonamis. If it had of been a normal nappy, it would not have leaked as it went to the elasticated part of the nappy around the waist and leaked through as not waterproof in this part.

  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?

7/10 the dryness was considerably good

  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?

Probably at some point in the future when baby is walking but not at the moment as the normal baby dry nappies are more absorbant.

  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?

Not exactly, I still imagine they would be best for potty training as baby can learn to pull the nappy up and down when they need to go.

  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?

Only if they were looking for pull up type nappies

MeAndTheMajor · 12/10/2015 21:28

I used the Size 5 pants with DD, age 18 months.

  • Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?
They were better than any pull up pants that I tried with my eldest daughter.
  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?
I didn't use them at night as I have found that pull ups tend to leak at night. However the absorbency was good during the day, so perhaps these would have been better than others I've tried.
  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?
As above - better than over pull ups I have used in the past.
  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
Probably not. I prefer a nappy as I find them less hassle to get on and off and like the fact that I can roll and fasten a dirty nappy up.
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
No - see above.
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?
If they wanted a pull up, then yes. However I prefer to use a nappy and found potty training my eldest was easier without pull ups.

  • Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?
Satisfied. Seemed comfortable for him to wear.
  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?
Good. We had no issues.
  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?
Good 9/10.
  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes. Easy to use.
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
Useful when you have a child who hates lying down to get changed.
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?
Yes.
mummyplusbump · 13/10/2015 22:31
  • Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?

--> We thought they were great. We only use them at night as my daughter is dry in the day but they were comfortable and did not leak and my daughter liked the pattern.

  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?

--> Very good and no leaks at all

  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?

--> Very dry and kept moisture away from my daughters skin.

  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?

--> Yes I will buy these from now on.

  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?

--> Yes as my daughter is already trained in the day so she does not need them for potty training just for nighttime use.

  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?

--> I would and already have recommended them as they are much more comfy and absorbent than the brand I was using.

KateOxford · 14/10/2015 21:49

My daughter is 2 and a half, we tried the size 6 pants.
Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants? Very

  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time? Both absolutely fine and we normally only use pampers baby dry at night due to leaks from other nappies.
  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants? 10/10
  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not? Yes, absolutely
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not? Yes, we used them whilst trying to encourage our daughter to use the potty but also at night. If they are more expensive than the nappies then I would only use them in the day.
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit? Yes. They were much more reliable than previous pull-ups we had tried which had little absorbency.

Little one aged 2 yrs

  • Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants? very satisfied
  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time? Brilliant, no more changing every hour or so
  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants? fantastic
  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?yes yes yes
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not? not just for potty training, use as a normal day to day nappy, brilliant
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit? yes

Thanks for allowing us to trial this product! Fab!!

  • Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?
Very happy, they came at just the right time for us, having a walking 11month old... nappy changes had turned into something like a wrestling match, with several (naked!) escapes from the ring!
  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?
Great! No problems with them at all. At least as good as the Baby Dry nappies that we were using previously.
  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?
At least as good as the Baby Dry nappies.
  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes, we already have done! They've totally changed our usual nappy changing battle to something that's somewhat more pleasant, for both of us!
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
I have no idea why these would only be used for potty training - DD is my first so we're definitely not there yet, but i can safely say that these are perfect for when baby is more mobile and independent, and therefore wants to move / cannot be 'restrained' for a lie-down nappy change. I'd never considered that pants would only be used for potty training!
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?
It has, and I have. Other mums have also made the move to Baby Dry Pants to avoid the same battles! Fab product!
webster147 · 17/10/2015 09:53

Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants? I'm quite satisfied with Baby Dry pants.

  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time? I felt that the pants performed better during the day than at night time, we had a couple of leaks during the night.
  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants? The pants stayed dry during the day but we did have a couple of leaks during the night.
  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
I would definitely buy them for use during the day as it's a great way to introduce the motion of pulling pants up and down in anticipation of potty training but I would use the regular baby dry nappies at night as I feel they are more effective at preventing leaks.
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
I feel like the pants are a good idea in anticipation of potty training but found they were no more comfortable and flexible than regular Pampers.
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit? I would recommend them for day use for dryness and fit but not during the night due to leaks we encountered.
webster147 · 17/10/2015 09:55

Forgot to state my son is 17 months and we tried the size 4+

Sweetpotatoaddict · 17/10/2015 21:45

I trialled these on my 11 month old boy in size 4 baby- dry pants.

Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?
these were an absolute godsend for an exceptionally fidgeted baby, slip them over his legs and then stand him up to pull up. No more chasing him round the room. He stayed as dry in them as in his usual baby-dry nappies. I've added them to our shopping now, for use during the day.

  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?
we had one leak with the pants which was one exceptionally large runny poo which leaked through the waistband, apart from that perfectly dry and no leaks.
  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?
Excellent
  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
I have already bought them for use during the day, and they've made nappy changes a faster less frustrating experience.
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
yes, although not for nighttime use, as quite expensive
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?
I already have recommended them, as I was so impressed
angryangryyoungwoman · 17/10/2015 22:22

Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?
Quite satisfied

  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?
There were no leaks, the material felt soft and looked comfortable
  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?
Excellent
  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
I would consider them. Despite wanting to try, it seems that my dd isn't quite ready for potty training yet. This meant that I had to change her dirty nappies and I found it difficult to remove the nappy unless she was standing up. Two pairs of socks ended up in the wash and another memorable moment was a solid poo being flicked out as I pulled down the nappy and it flew across the room. It is probably down to my technique and not the nappies fault. However, I find the changing of standard nappies easier than these so I don't know if I will use them unless necessary.
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
See above
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?
I would, but I would also mention the other "issue " I had with them.
angryangryyoungwoman · 17/10/2015 22:23

Sorry, size 5 nappies and 23 months old

neddle · 18/10/2015 20:44

Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?
They worked as they should do, but I wasn't keen on them.
How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?
Fine - didn't leak at all.
How would you rate the dryness of the pants?
Fine.
Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
No. They're probably fine for older children, but dd is 13 months and not particularly compliant. It was quite difficult to get her legs in them and often managed to get the first one out before I got the second one in - quite frustrating.
*Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not?
If so, why? If not, why not? *
Not really. Smaller children have more accessible clothing for nappy changes; having to take trousers off to put the new nappy on is annoying. Even more so if you made the mistake of dressing her in tights and trousers.
If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?
Maybe - depend on the age of their child.

chaztree · 18/10/2015 21:24

My ds is 31 months old and we tried size 5 Pampers Baby Dry pants.

  • Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?

Overall I was not fully satisfied. I found they leaked quite often at night. My ds wears a store own brand nappy pant normally and never had leaks but the nights he wore this one it leaked. It did feel lively and soft, like cotton and was strong and well designed but just could not hold his wees in.

  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?

Dang time was better than night as nights we had leaks. He sleeps on his belly not sure that had something to do with it. In the day it was comfy and held his wee and poo in well. It felt soft to his skin too.

  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?

I expected more from it being a baby dry variation of the nappy pant, but seems to hold less then regular nappy pants. I expected the performance of the regular pampers baby dry nappies. When I changed him after a wee he seemed wet to touch so wasn't drawing the moisture away like the regular nappy.

  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?

Probably not because they didn't perform like the store brand I normallly use. I want a nappy pant that is as good in the night as it is in the day. It just wasn't the level of performance I expect from what is a very top brand nappy manufacturing company.

  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?

I use nappy pants anyway now even though we are not potty training so nothing changed there.

  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?

The fit is great but I would struggle to recommend for dryness. They do gel really soft so that you a thing to recommend but if they don't hold the wee then no point using them.

Pduck · 20/10/2015 20:06

I tried these nappies in size 4 with my 11 month old

  • Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?
They were fine, worked about as well as any other disposable nappies we have tried. However, I think we will stick with our normal, reusable, nappies for now.
  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?
They stayed dry overnight and had no leaking issues, except for some minor explosions out the back
  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?
Good, we had no problems with them
  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
When we are potty training, then yes I think they would be brilliant. But not at the moment, she is too young as I believe there are too many negatives to use them at the moment.
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
No, we found many problems with them for such a young child.
  1. They're not easy to pull all the way up when you a changing a baby lying down, so you run the risk of extra leakiness
  2. if you are changing them and they start to pee, you can't just lift them up and put one of these nappies underneath them
  3. There was no way of making them into a nice ball to keep the nasties inside as there are no tabs
For all the extra hassle (including our daughter not understanding that they were nappies, we got a WTF look every time) I think we will leave these until potty training time.
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?
For potty training, then probably

Sorry for the delay in feedback, the postie hid them behind our BBQ without a card through the door, no idea how long there were there for. However, we can say that the packaging was very waterproof!

mumsbe · 21/10/2015 12:35

Firstly thanks for letting us trial this product

Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?
These are lovely and quite close to real pants because they feel like a crincly material

  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?
These were very good and strong
  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?
No leaks very dry
  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes because these are very strong and hold a lot of wee without leaks
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes these pants are a great step towards potty training getting your little one used to pants
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?

Yes I would mention how great this product is

waterlily200 · 21/10/2015 18:05
  • Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?

Very satisfied. Easy to use and kept my lo dry and comfy.

  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?

They performed really well. Even at night which was surprising as we use size plus for evenings due to big wees!

  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?

Excellent

  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?

Definitely. I had only really heard of hugging pull ups but these nappies were really impressive.

  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?

We're just jntroducing the idea of the potty and telling us went lo needs to go so these are ideal as they are still easy. To use as nappy not just 'pull ups'.

  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?

Definately

JaquelineHyde · 21/10/2015 18:29

Sorry this took so long to do, we have just moved house and had to wait for the nappies to be sent on to us!

So, I tested them on DS2 who is 2 and a half and he is in size 6.

1, Overall I was unimpressed with the baby-dry pants and not particularly satisfied. They didn't fit as well as other Pampers products, and they didn't keep DS2 dry at night at all.

2, During the day the baby-dry pants were ok, but during the night we had several leaks. Something I have never had with other Pampers nappies.

3, The dryness does not appear to be as good as other Pampers products.

4, I might consider buying them and experimenting with the sizes as the fit did not appear to be the same as, or as good as, other Pampers products.

5, I've never used pull up pants for toilet training any of my children, and this trial hasn't convinced me that I need to start now.

6, After my experience I don't think I would recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants, which is a shame as I always recommend their nappies.

emmabrown123 · 21/10/2015 18:32

I have a son aged 17 months and tested Size 4. In hindsight I should've probably tested size 5!!

Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?

I was satisfied with the pants. They were soft and comfortable. Easy to put on for the most part (we had the occasional ripped seam when putting them on).

  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?
Very well at night. A couple of leaks during the day (mainly giant poos!!), but wonder if this might have been because he maybe needed the next size up.
  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?
Very good. No problems with bottom being damp, no leaks of wee either.
  • Would you consider buying them in the future?
If so, why? If not, why not? Yes definitely. It was good to be able to change DS standing up. I don't think I would use them exclusively but found it really handy to have those and standard nappies in his changing bag so I had the option of both.
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes - some much easier to change DS standing when it was just a wet nappy.
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?

Yes - definitely for fit (they felt really comfortable and let no red marks) and for dryness.

Thank you for allowing me to test - they're a great product.
