This thread is for the MNers who've been trying out Pampers Baby-Dry Pants with their child.

Here’s what Pampers say, “Thank you so much for signing up to try our new Baby-Dry Pants – you’re some of the first people in the UK to try them and we can’t wait to hear what you thought of them. We really hope you and your little one found them easy to use, as well as providing the reliable dryness you’d expect from a normal taped nappy.”

Below are some questions to get you started but please feel free to add other comments too.

Please state the age of your child and the size of Baby-Dry Pants nappies you were trying in your response.

  • Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?
  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?
  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?
  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?

Everyone who comments on this thread and completes the survey we sent via email will be entered in to a prize draw where one MNer will receive a £200 John Lewis voucher.

Thanks and good luck!

My daughter is 11 months and wears size 4

Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby Dry pants?
Quite satisfied. They were easy to use once I got to grips with the slightly different method of putting on and taking off. I particularly like how soft the waistband is.

How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?
They kept my baby dry for a good few hours, but did leak once after a long night time sleep, as have other nappies too though. Didn't contain her poo when she had a runny tummy, but neither did anything else!

  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?
9/10, as good as baby dry nappies, better than any others we've tried but still not perfect.
  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes, they were easy to use, soft and comfortable as well as keeping baby dry most of the time.
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes, my baby can be very wriggly and reluctant to lie still during nappy changes so these worked well, and we are ages away from potty training at the moment.
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?
Yes.
Calminacrisis · 06/10/2015 12:46

Hi, we have been testing size 4 and my daughter is 1 year old.
Overall, we were very satisfied with the product.
They were as reliable at night as they were in the day.
For dryness, I would rate them 9/10.
I would definitely buy them in the future - however, I'll wait until we're potty training. She was definitely interested in the different design but for cleaning up, the lack of sticky/grippy tags to fold it up was a bit of an issue. Can the design be tweaked?
Yes, pants aren't just for toddlers, my daughter felt 'grown up' but disposal could be an issue.
Yes, I'd happily recommend them - the dryness is good and reliable.

They kept my baby dry day and night!

Excellent!

Yes, I would buy them in the future as my daughter will be used to the same nappy, and will be able to use it easily when it comes to potty-training.
- Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes, I think they can be used for potty-training and as a normal nappy, as it functions as both.

Certainly!

Thank you for letting me take part, my little girl has just turned 1 and we tested size 4 pants.

  • Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?
We were very impressed with the pants, they made changing quick and easy with a very wriggly baby!

A couple of leaks at night but in general worked very well.
  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?
Very good during the day.
  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes as long as the price was right. I would use them mainly when we went out.
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not?
Yes, they were quick and simple.

soundsystem · 06/10/2015 13:22

My DD is 11 months, and we tried size 4.

  • Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?
Very – they were super-quick to put on, and easy to pull up as the baby wriggled away!

  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time? They performed well: no leaks so no complaints.

  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants? Great, no issues.

  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not? Yes, assuming the price was reasonable. I will probably buy in combination with regular (cheaper) nappies for example for nursery

  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not? Definitely! We’re ages away from potty training but my daughter really doesn’t like lying down to get her nappy changed, and tries to escape! So these make life so much easier.
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit? Absolutely
Miskate · 06/10/2015 13:28

I enjoyed taking part in this product test, and my MIL commented that she thought the nappies were excellent!

  • Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?
Very satisfied
  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?
They performed well, provided complete dryness through the day and night
  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?
10/10
  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
I would consider buying them as their easier to put on my wriggly son.
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not? Yes, previously I thought it was madness to put a 10 month old in pull up pants, but they worked really well.
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?
Yes I would definitely recommend so long as the price point was good
pocketsized · 06/10/2015 13:31

My DD is 6.5mo, and we tried size 4.

Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?

Very

  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?

No leaks, so no complaints

  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?

Good, although I didn't notice any significant improvement on my regular own brand nappies

  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?

I would consider it as the elastic all the way round the top looked and felt soft and comfortable, and the nappies seemed a bit less bulky. However, I expect they will be more expensive than I am willing to pay.

  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes, they were fine for a younger baby.

  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?

Yes

Wabbit1 · 06/10/2015 13:39
  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?

I've only just started potty training and these nappies really help us get them used to getting to the toilet in time. We haven't had many problems so far except they are so comfortable in these they might never actually tell us before they want to go!

  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants? They are just as dry as their normal pampers in my opinion
  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
I would, but Pampers are very expensive, many of my friends have said it's cheaper to avoid using these types of nappies as it prolongues potty training. There are less nappies in a pack and they work out more expensive as a normal pack of size 5 nappies.
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?Not really,I would have no reason to buy these other than during potty training as they cost more
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?
Yes definitely, I have twins so anything that makes changing nappies easier is helpful
sonjachall · 06/10/2015 14:21

My daughter is 2 years 10 months and we trialled Size 5.

  • Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?
We both loved them. My daughter loved pulling them up and I marvelled at how soft the sides and leg bands are.
  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?
No complaints at all. She stayed dry, and everything was 'contained'! The very visible sag once saturated was a clear sign that a change was required.
  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?
Excellent.
  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
We have already swapped over to them following the trial. I bought them at the promotional price offered at Ocado so bought several of the largest bags.
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
I prefer a tab for a soiled nappy, but that's just a personal preference. The sides do tear easily enough on the pull-ups, but personally I'm also a fan of the Active Fit nappies so would continue using those for my son (10 months) until it's time to take him closer to potty training with a pull-up.
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?
Yes, most definitely. I think they're great!
warnc007 · 06/10/2015 14:46

My daughter is 23months and wears sixe 5.

  • Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants? Fairly satisfied
  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time? Performed well, no regular leakage at all and stayed in place despite the best efforts of a very active toddler
  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants? Good, did the expected job
  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not? Probably not as they are considerably dearer than usual brand
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not? No unfortunately. I think that they'd be good when potty training but found them a bit fiddly to use instead of a normal nappy especially when it came to putting cream on a sore bottom
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit? Probably not as I tend not to recommend such things as every baby is different.
sniffysnifferson · 06/10/2015 16:37

I used size 6 pants on my 3yo.

Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?
very satisfied, they were very soft, fit nice around the waist and didnthe job. they also stayed on better that other brands that have a velcro strip on the side.

  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time? they kept my lo dry all night.
  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants? very good, no idsues with leaks.
  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not? yes.
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not? not really, infind normal nappies easier for babies.
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit? yes definately if the price was right.
mapmyface · 06/10/2015 17:02

ds is aged 2 and wore size 5 pants

We were very satisfied with the baby dry pants

They performed really well during the day and night, no leaks or spills. I liked that they were fitted too so during the day there was no gaping at the back.

I would rate them 10/10 for dryness.

I would consider buying them in the future and have already done so! I bought a large pack from tesco. They are a really great product and its years since I last bought a product by pampers.

Yes the trial convinced me they aren't just for toilet training, they are so easy to put on a wriggling toddler and I love the snug comfortable fit which moves with a busy toddler.

Yes I would definitely recommend and I have already done so at playgroup.

  • Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?

Very, thought they worked well. No leaks and felt nice and soft.

  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night?

Was very happy with them, especially at night as I was worried about leaks - not a problem.

  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?

Great, very happy.

  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?

I'd buy them, but I would hope that bulk buying them was cheaper.

  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?

They worked fine, not just for potty training, but if I was not potty training and had a small baby then I would stick to nappies.

  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and comfort?

Yes. Smile

Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?
Really satisfied- these pants are a complete game changer

  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?
To be honest I didn't try them at night as I normally use a 4+ at night & they come back pretty full in the morning but I'm confident the pants would be as reliable. I had no issues of leakage or poor fit during daytime use. The only time we had any trouble was after swimming when our ds wasn't completely dry, pulling the pants up was a bit trickier than whipping on a nappy.
  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?
Great - as good as the dry baby nappies
  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
Definitely! I'd love to be able to buy another pack now!
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
Definitely not just for potty training, babies get very wriggly long before they're ready to potty train, these pants just make like easier.
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?
Definitely
karigan · 06/10/2015 21:10

Hi I trialed these on my DD who has just turned 1. We tested the size 4.

  • Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?
Very satisfied. They measured up very well to the baby dry nappies.
  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?
Really well- the waistband was really soft and seemed to help to keep it up higher during the night rather than the nappies which tend to start dropping down once it gets quite full.
  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?
Very dry. Good absorbancy.
  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
The only problem I had with them is that they looked a little bit big on her (she is very tiny for a 1 year old!) and felt a little bit loose- however they didn't leak at any point.
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
I would happily buy these and use them daily if I could find them at a good price.
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?

I think I would recommend these to other parents.

My son is 15 months and we tried size 5's

Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?
I'm not as impressed as I thought I would be. I've used pampers nappies and had no problems but the pull ups didn't live up to the same standard.

  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?
I didn't rate them for dryness. My little boy leaked through everytime which is dissapointing as the nappies have always been great and never any leaks. I felt they also slipped down a fair bit too. Possibly a size too big for my boy.
  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?
Very poor. Unfortunately they leaked everytime.
  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
I wouldn't buy in the future as they didn't perform the way I expected them to. And far too costly for a product that didn't live up to the standard I expected of pampers.
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
I found them quite awkward as a replacement for a nappy. My little boy is too young for potty training. When out and about and a change was required I had to strip off my little boy, shoes and all just to get a pull up on. Too much a faff with a toddler who hates nappy changes!
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?
Unfortunately not for the reasons given above. Didn't perform to standards expected and too much hassle as an alternative to a nappy.
apcmoomin · 06/10/2015 22:28

My son is nearly 3 yrs and we tested size 5.

  • Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?
Very satisfied
  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?
Kept my son dry for a long while. I didn't notice any leaks during the day or after nighttime.
  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?
10/10
  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes, my son liked wearing them and I like them too esp if at reasonable price.
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes - pull ups so handy to take for changing into after swimming, or anywhere where there is no changing table or anywhere to lay the child down
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?
Yes - I found them to be very absorbent and felt quite soft and comfortable to other pull-ups. My son seemed to find them quite comfortable and liked to parade around the house wearing nothing but his Pampers Baby Dry pants!
Arianrhod · 07/10/2015 11:42

Please state the age of your child and the size of Baby-Dry Pants nappies you were trying in your response.

10 month old twins, size 4 nappies

  • Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?
hmmm Well I like them as a concept, however, in reality they just were too much work!
  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?
Given the frequency of which I change my twins, they performed just as well as normal Pampers nappies
  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?
As above - as good as normal nappies
  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
Well I will, but only once my babies are toddlers, and I would have bought them then anyway
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
Sadly no, not really. I used similar on my daughter when she was a toddler, and they were fine. I had hoped that using pull-ups on my ultra-wriggly, rolling/crawling twin boys would make nappy change time less of a nightmare but in fact it actually made things worse! Taking them off is no problem, wrapping up the nappy is fine too, but getting them on was something Houdini himself would have struggled with! My boys are not compliant when it comes to having their nappies changed, and trying to pin them down with one hand and get pull-ups on them with the other, while they're trying desperately to flip over and crawl away at a rate of knots, is next to impossible. I can't think what I was thinking of, thinking this would be a good idea!
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?
For dryness and fit, yes. For ease of use - unless you have either a much older child or at least one that doesn't try to do the 100m sprint every nappy change - no.
mjmooseface · 07/10/2015 17:22

I was very impressed with the Pampers Baby-Dry Pants! The best part was definitely the tape thingy for holding the pull-up together after you've rolled it up. I haven't seen that on a pull-up before and it was a great feature!

The Pampers Baby-Dry Pants performed very well during the day. I did, however, feel that they weren't as good after a long time overnight. The Pampers version seemed to be more fally-offy come morning time, whereas the Pampers nappies we use overnight seem to hold all the moisture better.

As above, the pants were good for holding in the moisture with its added layers and whatnot, but felt it didn't match up to its nappy counterpart overnight.

I would definitely buy these again in the future. Switching to pull-ups has been an absolute godsend as nappy times were reducing me to tears! I wish I'd had pants from the moment my son could stand! And that's what I love about this new product - it comes in a variety of sizes so a lot of babies and parents can benefit from happier and easier nappy change times!

This trial did convince me these pants are not just for potty training. Although we're under a Specialist Health Visitor to help with toilet training, my son is nowhere near using a potty or toilet! But we started using pull ups before thinking about potty training.

I would recommend this product to others for ease of use, comfort, fit and dryness. (In all fairness, my son does still have a big bottle of milk before bed. If he didn't, his bedtime nappy/pants wouldn't be so full in the morning! I honestly think they're great and am honoured to have taken part in a trial using a product not out in shops yet! Thanks MNHQ and Pampers!

I was trying these pants out with my very very very nearly 3 year old son, who has autism and really hates nappy changing times, and we trialled the size 6 pants.

  • Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?
Fairly satisfied. Nice and soft, felt "loose"but didn't have any issues
  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?
Quite well, not as good as cheaper Aldi or Lidl nappies, but on a par.
  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?
Quite good, 9/10
  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
If the price was right then yes
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
Pants like these aren't recommended for potty training, but they are useful when you have a child who hates laying down for changes!
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?
Yes, I probably would.

No problems.

Yes
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
They were great although we were potty training as my daughter decided she didn't want to wear nappies in the time since I applied so we were trialling them at night.
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?
Yes

Size 6 pants on my 3 year old boy.

Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?
I was pretty satisfied with these pants. They were a good fit and the material felt comfortable against my child's skin.

How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?
No issues with day or night. My child does not move much at night and the urine tends to pool at the back of the nappy but we had no leaks.

How would you rate the dryness of the pants?
Excellent, we had no leaks

Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
I would not consider using these on a daily basis as they are much more expensive that a regular nappy and I don't see that they are worth the extra cost. I would consider buying a pack to use after swimming lessons as they are easier to get on than a normal nappy whilst the child is standing.

- Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
I don't see how these or other pull-ups would help with potty training. They aren't easy enough to pull down and they don't feel too different to a nappy for the child.

If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?
For dryness and fit yes, but not over a regular nappy for everyday use, especially on a younger child.

monstergoose · 08/10/2015 09:10

Size 5 tried on my 2y6m
Fairly satisfied with these
No leaks either night or day but in the day they tended to move around a fair bit and my dd would end up with a wedgie, which If I didn't pull out would have probably caused them to leak. She is a skinny Minnie though so this might have been why
I probably wouldn't buy them again no. I tend to do nappy changes with leggings pulled down not taken off and whilst I could get the pull up off by tearing the sides, I had to take her trousers off to put a new one on. Obviously this is an issue with pull ups in general, not just pampers, but I wouldn't choose to use pull ups. Conversely my husband really likes using them
I wouldnt use them instead of normal nappies for the reasons above, I might use them when we get to potty training.

They had a lovely soft waistband which was nice compared to normal nappies though

badgerknowsbest · 08/10/2015 10:12
  • Overall, how satisfied were you with Pampers Baby-Dry Pants?
Very satisfied, my dd chose these to wear over her usual little angels pull ups.
  • How did Pampers Baby-Dry Pants perform through the day and at night time?
So far so good, no wetness came through, I was impressed espicially at night time.
  • How would you rate the dryness of the pants?
Very good.
  • Would you consider buying them in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
Depending on the price I would buy these again they feel a lot more comfortable than my dds regular pull ups.
  • Did the trial convince you that pants are not just for potty training or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
I find that the shape of pulls ups looks a lot nicer under trousers rather than a nally and it makes ny dd feel more grown up to not wear a 'baby nappy' as she calls it. She was veru happy with her big girl pants and has definitely helped with getting her ready for toilet training as she has more independence in getting pull ups on and off.
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Pampers Baby-Dry Pants to other parents for dryness and fit?
I would definitely recommend these, the fit was lovely and we had to problem with any wetness.

Thank you for selecting us to try these, and I have seen a huge improvement in my dd being ready for potty training.
