This is the feedback thread for the 250 Mumsnetters who are testing out Mini Milk.

Here’s what Wall’s say: “Small, but perfectly formed, our Mini Milk range is a firm favourite within the Wall’s range of ice creams. With a choice of three delicious flavours, Vanilla, Strawberry and Chocolate, Mini Milk is a yummy treat you can feel confident giving to your kids this summer.”

Here are some questions to get you started, but please feel free to add your own comments too:

  1. What was your overall impression of Mini Milks?
  2. Which of your children tried Mini Milk? How old are your DCs? Have they tried Mini Milks before?
  3. Did your child enjoy the Mini Milks? If so, what did your child like about them? And which was their favourite flavour?
  4. Would you recommend Mini Milks to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

Everyone who adds their feedback, as well as completing the short feedback survey we will be emailing to you, will be entered into a prize draw where one winner will receive a £300 John Lewis voucher.

Please note: your anonymous comments may be used by Wall’s on their website and other marketing materials.

Thanks,
MNHQ

  1. What was your overall impression of Mini Milks?
Very appealing - nice bright packaging - eye catching, the kind of thing you think the children will enjoy
  1. Which of your children tried Mini Milk? How old are your DCs? Have they tried Mini Milks before?

Both ds1 & ds2, 7 & 5. Yes they have had them before

  1. Did your child enjoy the Mini Milks? If so, what did your child like about them? And which was their favourite flavour?

They both really enjoyed them. They liked the "milkiness" and the "kinda sweet" flavour. They both preferred the vanilla. They both thought they were a bit small, I really like that about them but both were campaigning for two as a pudding/snack

  1. Would you recommend Mini Milks to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

I would definitely reccommend and have done. They are a good size, nice flavour, reasonable price, neat to eat - and dh and i like them too!

  1. What was your overall impression of Mini Milks?
I loved them from my childhood so of course I love them now!
  1. Which of your children tried Mini Milk? How old are your DCs? Have they tried Mini Milks before?
My 3 and 4 yr olds tried them, I think they had one a year or so ago so they don't remember
  1. Did your child enjoy the Mini Milks? If so, what did your child like about them? And which was their favourite flavour?
They loved them, my little girl loved the strawberry ones and my son loved the chocolate most, I got to have the vanilla! They said they loved how creamy they are
  1. Would you recommend Mini Milks to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes, they are the perfect size so avoids the inevitable dripping and wastage of other ice creams/lollies The kids really love them too.

  1. What was your overall impression of Mini Milks?
I like the smallish size and the number in the pack. Good packaging (my DS is a fan of the lion on this and other products).
  1. Which of your children tried Mini Milk? How old are your DCs? Have they tried Mini Milks before?
DS, age 4. Never had them before.
  1. Did your child enjoy the Mini Milks? If so, what did your child like about them? And which was their favourite flavour?
Definitely enjoyed them. Favourite was chocolate (I liked vanilla). As above, he liked the lion on the packaging and being able to choose a flavour (mixed box and see-through inner packaging).
  1. Would you recommend Mini Milks to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes - not too big, nice and creamy and not too brightly coloured which I associate with e number etc. (unlike some of the more 'icy' lollies out there). Good to keep in the freezer for a treat!

  1. What was your overall impression of Mini Milks?

I loved Mini Milks as a kid and its good to see they haven't changed much.

  1. Which of your children tried Mini Milk? How old are your DCs? Have they tried Mini Milks before?

Both of my sons tried Mmini Mmilks. The oldest is 7 and the youngest is 18 months. They have not had mini Milks previously but had tried similar products before.

  1. Did your child enjoy the Mini Milks? If so, what did your child like about them? And which was their favourite flavour?

My kids loved Mini Milks. My oldest said his favourite was strawberry and my youngest seemed to love them all!

  1. Would you recommend Mini Milks to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

Mini Milks are a fun treat for your children that can be enjoyed while playing out in the garden. Yes I would recommend them as I loved them when I was young and my kids love them too.

  1. What was your overall impression of Mini Milks?
That they tasted the same as I remember from my childhood.
  1. Which of your children tried Mini Milk? How old are your DCs? Have they tried Mini Milks before?
The only daughter I have. She is 19 months. She had not had them before.
  1. Did your child enjoy the Mini Milks? If so, what did your child like about them? And which was their favourite flavour?
Yes she did enjoy them. She won't eat my lovingly prepared home made lollies apparently because "they are too cold " but she wolfs these down. She didn't care which flavour....
  1. Would you recommend Mini Milks to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes, they are just the right size, a reasonable price and not too unhealthy to have occasionally
UniversalTruth · 18/06/2015 14:31

Overall impression - I loved mini milks as a child! I think they are an appropriate portion size for toddlers. My DS is 2.7 and I was most happy to give him the strawberry ones (he's not that fussy when it comes to ice cream!) as it looked from the ingredients that it had only natural flavouring ie. real strawberry whereas the choc and vanilla listed "flavouring" as an ingredient. I like that they contain a good amount of calcium. I would recommend.

mjmooseface · 18/06/2015 20:15

Ooh I have a little update!

My son finally tried a mini milk!!! After watching me eat one, he put a chocolate one in his mouth, holding on to the stick and everything, and tried licking it first and then took a small bite off the top. His face was priceless! Each time I've offered him one since, he's had a little more each time... I think he's starting to like them!!!

Pickofthepops · 19/06/2015 09:16

Here are some questions to get you started, but please feel free to add your own comments too:

  1. What was your overall impression of Mini Milks?

Nice natural product - healthy snack, reasonably priced. Just difficult to find in stores near me!

  1. Which of your children tried Mini Milk? How old are your DCs? Have they tried Mini Milks before?

My seven year old - he had tried them at his childminders last year.

  1. Did your child enjoy the Mini Milks? If so, what did your child like about them? And which was their favourite flavour?
He's not keen but think he's just used to sweeter ice cream and think they are growing on him! Think strawberry his favourite so far!
  1. Would you recommend Mini Milks to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes for my reasons above.
Jackie221084 · 19/06/2015 18:11

Yeah i would recommend, great price and tasty
Swex · 19/06/2015 19:55

Hi. I'm a tester but can't comment yet as mini milks are not sold in my town! Still hopeful and really want to try them again! Anyone else had this problem? Where can I source them?

BenjaminBunnysMummy · 19/06/2015 20:50
  1. What was your overall impression of Mini Milks?
Good, packaging is appealing and the price makes them good value
  1. Which of your children tried Mini Milk? How old are your DCs? Have they tried Mini Milks before?
My 3 year old is a little strange as he finds some ice creams /Lollys too cold. He has tried one before at a soft play centre but didn't finish it so I wanted to try them again.
  1. Did your child enjoy the Mini Milks? If so, what did your child like about them? And which was their favourite flavour?
He wanted to try the chocolate flavour but again said it was too cold! He enjoyed it once it had melted though! His cousins aged 9 and 6 (and maybe some of the adults in the family :) tried the rest, and everyone enjoyed them.
  1. Would you recommend Mini Milks to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes, perfect size for a little treat, especially during hot weather. Children feel like they're getting a treat and I don't feel guilty as the mini milk don't have artificial colourings and are milk based

  1. What was your overall impression of Mini Milks?

Difficult to find in my local supermarkets!

DC (7yrs) - have not tried them before.

  1. Did your child enjoy the Mini Milks? If so, what did your child like about them? And which was their favourite flavour?

Quite liked the one they had - but preferred another brand when given a free choice.

  1. Would you recommend Mini Milks to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

I would - but probably for younger children.

happypotamus · 20/06/2015 10:48

1.What was your overall impression of MiniMilks?
Sensible size for small children, not too big, gave the impression of being healthier than other similar lollies. DD loved them.

  1. My 4yr old tried them. She has had them before
  1. She enjoyed them "because they are so tasty, the colour, that's what else I like about them." Chocolate is her favourite favour.
  1. DD would "because they are so tasty I would want to do that." I would because I thought they were good value for money, not too big and appreciated by my child.
curbyourenthusiasm · 20/06/2015 10:55
  1. What was your overall impression of Mini Milks?

Tasty, an adequate size for children and reasonable priced. Though i found it difficult to find in my local supermarkets.

  1. Which of your children tried Mini Milk? How old are your DCs? Have they tried Mini Milks before?
Both of them. I have two girls, 2.5 years and 13 months. They hadnt tried them before.

  1. Overall impression.
We liked them, good flavours, not too strong as this sometimes puts my son off some foods. Just the right size for a treat for the kids (and for me!).
  1. My son who is 4, my stepson is 8 and stepdaughter is 9. The 4 year old had never tried them before but the other 2 remembered having them when they were younger.
  2. They all enjoyed them although we had disagreements about each trying all the flavours as both boys preferred the chocolate ones. Neither wanted to try the vanilla but both liked them when they did. My stepdaughter preferred the pink as she's going through a pink phase. All said they wished they were bigger (typical kids) but from a parent's point of view they were just the right size.
  3. I would recommend the multi packs as being just right size for a treat snack or as a pudding. Good price for the pack and can't be split up in the freezer if you're struggling for space!
poppy1973 · 26/06/2015 14:26
  1. What was your overall impression of Mini Milks?

I like the look of the mini milks. They haven't really changed over the years. Both my children of 10 and 5 wanted to try them.

  1. Which of your children tried Mini Milk? How old are your DCs? Have they tried Mini Milks before?

My children of 10 and 5 tried them. My eldest of 10 used to have them when he was little and I could afford them more as a treat.

  1. Did your child enjoy the Mini Milks? If so, what did your child like about them? And which was their favourite flavour?

My children liked the mini milks. My son liked the chocolate flavour and daughter liked the vanilla flavour.

  1. Would you recommend Mini Milks to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes, they are packed full of calcium and are a good alternative to a pack of sweets for a treat on a hot summery day.

createbeauty · 26/06/2015 14:43
  1. What was your overall impression of Mini Milks? I liked them very much and found them to be a great after-dinner or after-school snack, especially during the hotter days.
  2. Which of your children tried Mini Milk? How old are your DCs? Have they tried Mini Milks before? My son, aged 3, tried the Mini Milk. He had never had it before.
  3. Did your child enjoy the Mini Milks? If so, what did your child like about them? And which was their favourite flavour? My son enjoyed the Mini Milks very much. He liked that it was ice cream and he could eat it from a stick. Strawberry was his favourite flavour.
  4. Would you recommend Mini Milks to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not? Yes. I would recommend Mini Milks because they are very low calorie, especially compared to the normal "treats" my son likes. I tried them myself, one of every flavour, and found them to be quite tasty and enjoyable.
Smcgettigan79 · 26/06/2015 15:00

Loved mini milks as a child, still love them now! My boys (4 & 2) love them too. One like chocolate best and the other vanilla but I think that might have something to do with the 4 year old's insistence that anything pink is 'stupid and for girls!' He ate the strawberry ones when they were all that were left! Great treat - small enough for them to eat quickly without them melting everywhere which is a bonus!

likestoski · 26/06/2015 15:36
  1. What was your overall impression of Mini Milks?

Very good, nice packaging.

  1. Which of your children tried Mini Milk? How old are your DCs? Have they tried Mini Milks before?
Both my girls aged 8 + 6 tried them. No they have not had them before.
  1. Did your child enjoy the Mini Milks? If so, what did your child like about them? And which was their favourite flavour?
Yes they both enjoyed them. Strawberry flavour was their favourite. My youngest daughter has ceoliacs so was delighted she could have these.
  1. Would you recommend Mini Milks to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes I would recommend Mini Milks , they are a nice treat to have, just the right size
bonzo77 · 26/06/2015 16:35

Thank you for picking me and my family to participate in this trial!

  1. What was your overall impression of Mini Milks?
Good. I like the no-fuss packaging. In fact the transparent wrappers make it easier to tell which flavour your have picked.
  1. Which of your children tried Mini Milk? How old are your DCs? Have they tried Mini Milks before?
Both my DSs tried them, aged 5 and 2. The 2 year old said they were too cold, he's not had them before. The 5 year old has had them before.
  1. Did your child enjoy the Mini Milks? If so, what did your child like about them? And which was their favourite flavour?
DS2 thought they were too cold, so no. DS1 really likes them, the portion size is perfect. He didn't like the strawberry ones, and of the other 2 flavours preferred the vanilla. I think the strawberry ones might go to waste: I offered them to a playdate and he wasn't interested either.
  1. Would you recommend Mini Milks to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not? Yes, but only if they like stawberry flavour. I probably won't buy the multipack again as only 2/3 got eaten and it's wasteful. I wonder if they could do a pack that was just a single flavour, maybe a box of 6 instead of 12...
Rachie1986 · 26/06/2015 16:43

Thanks for choosing us to trial!

  1. What was your overall impression of Mini Milks?Â
We were really impressed. Dh and I not had them since we were little and were pleasantly suprised by how much we enjoyed them. Dd really loved it, she's 18months tomorrow!
  1. Which of your children tried Mini Milk? How old are your DCs? Have they tried Mini Milks before?
Never tried before. Dd is 18months. She's had ice cream on 2 or 3 times before.
  1. Did your child enjoy the Mini Milks? If so, what did your child like about them? And which was their favourite flavour?
She really did, once we got her to actually try it! Holding the stick was a challenge to start with as it was quite short for her to grad hold of. Once she started she didn't stop! We have a lovely photo of her with it covering round her mouth! She and Dh had vanilla and really enjoyed it. I had chocolate and thought it was really yummy!
  1. Would you recommend Mini Milks to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?Â
Yes I would. They are a nice treat, but not too big or too unhealthy to feel guilty over. A good size for little ones too and added calcium is a bonus.

The only improvement would be to have a slightly longer stick to help little hands hold it securely.

Lovewhereilive · 26/06/2015 16:57
