This is the feedback thread for the 250 Mumsnetters who are testing out Mini Milk.

Here’s what Wall’s say: “Small, but perfectly formed, our Mini Milk range is a firm favourite within the Wall’s range of ice creams. With a choice of three delicious flavours, Vanilla, Strawberry and Chocolate, Mini Milk is a yummy treat you can feel confident giving to your kids this summer.”

Here are some questions to get you started, but please feel free to add your own comments too:

  1. What was your overall impression of Mini Milks?
  2. Which of your children tried Mini Milk? How old are your DCs? Have they tried Mini Milks before?
  3. Did your child enjoy the Mini Milks? If so, what did your child like about them? And which was their favourite flavour?
  4. Would you recommend Mini Milks to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

Everyone who adds their feedback, as well as completing the short feedback survey we will be emailing to you, will be entered into a prize draw where one winner will receive a £300 John Lewis voucher.

Please note: your anonymous comments may be used by Wall’s on their website and other marketing materials.

Thanks,
MNHQ

  1. What was your overall impression of Mini Milks?
I think they're really good. Nice size and feel a bit of a better choice than some other snacks
  1. Which of your children tried Mini Milk? How old are your DCs? Have they tried Mini Milks before?
Al 3 DC fought tooth and nail over tried them (11,8,5) They have all had them before but not for ages
  1. Did your child enjoy the Mini Milks? If so, what did your child like about them? And which was their favourite flavour?
Yes, they all enjoyed them and had two each! They liked all the flavours but chocolate best. They think they're too small but I disagree. Mind you DS1 things an entire can of beans on toast is a suitable snack.
  1. Would you recommend Mini Milks to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes, for the above reasons.
cookiefiend · 15/06/2015 12:31

I finally got around to buying these, though I forgot my voucher so will get another box shortly!

  1. First impression- they are a good size compared to other icy treats for a small child. There were loads in the box it felt like and 5% sugar doesn't seem to bad for an occasional treat.
  2. DD tried them. She will be two in September. She was delighted when I presented her with a choice of flavours. Also to have a treat that was all hers seemed to please her.
  3. She seemed to like the vanilla. Kept signing for more so I guess that is good. I had a taste and IT was lovely and creamy. I remember these from when I was little which is nice too.
  4. I will definitely buy again- over the summer we will jot doubt have ice creams from time to time and she always wants some, but just has to share. She is getting to an age where she wants her own so these are perfect. Also they will make a lovely little treat for a hot day.

Thanks for letting us try them- she really was pleased with them.

Sherbetdip1 · 15/06/2015 13:55
  1. Lovely - as good as I remember them from when I was little!
  2. My 4 yo has tried them for the first time this summer.
  3. She loved them - especially the strawberry or "pinky" ones as they are known here! I think they are a nice size for her...she doesn't get fed up before the end.
  4. I'd recommend them as you can't beat a mini milk on a mildly warm British summers day ???? x
MTBMummy · 15/06/2015 14:58

Thank you for picking us

1. What was your overall impression of Mini Milks?
Very positive, they're small enough not to feel like you're overdoing it on the sweet stuff, but big enough that the big kids (adults) don't feel jipped
2. Which of your children tried Mini Milk? How old are your DCs? Have they tried Mini Milks before?
DD aged 5 and DS age 1, neither had had mini milks before. DD has never had much of a sweet tooth and any icecreams that she thought she liked where dismissed on second tasting (recall having to eat 2 litres of raspberry sorbert a couple of years ago after thinking we finally found an icecream she liked) DS eats everything, but as he's still very young he hadn't tried icecream before
3. Did your child enjoy the Mini Milks? If so, what did your child like about them? And which was their favourite flavour?
Strawberry for DD, and she loved them, DS isn't fussed what flavour, and does seem to find them a bit cold (obviously) but loves them all the same
4. Would you recommend Mini Milks to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?
Definitely, they're not as big as some ice creams which seem to be overkill for young kids, and everyone seems to love them

RunningGingerFreckleyThing · 15/06/2015 17:20
  1. What was your overall impression of Mini Milks?
Good size, easy for little hands to hold, good price.
  1. Which of your children tried Mini Milk? How old are your DCs? Have they tried Mini Milks before?
All of them. 7,5, and 2. Yes they have tried them before but not for a long time.
  1. Did your child enjoy the Mini Milks? If so, what did your child like about them? And which was their favourite flavour?
I quote: "I liked that there were lots of flavours and vanilla was my favourite." "I really liked them all but chocolate was the best." "Me liked the brooooown. It was mine favourite."
  1. Would you recommend Mini Milks to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes, I would recommend them. I thought they were good value for money, and a nice sized treat.
HollyBen · 15/06/2015 22:22
  1. What was your overall impression of Mini Milks?
I liked the size of them. DD is 4 and sometimes lollies etc are too big so we end up with lolly to dispose of. I also liked that she felt they were a treat without them being sugary sweet
  1. Which of your children tried Mini Milk? How old are your DCs? Have they tried Mini Milks before?
DD us 4 and has not tried before.
  1. Did your child enjoy the Mini Milks? If so, what did your child like about them? And which was their favourite flavour?
Yes, she enjoyed them. She liked that she could see the flavour through the packaging without having to ask me to read it. She also liked that they were yummy!! Her favourite was strawberry
  1. Would you recommend Mini Milks to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?
I would recommend as a healthier alternative to ice cream. Ideal for sunny days (when we get them) helping to cool without the sugar
GatoradeMeBitch · 16/06/2015 00:18
  1. Overall impression - We all loved them! Mini Milk was a big favourite of mine as a child, and they taste just the same as I remembered. The flavours are perfect, not too weak, not too strong, and not synthetic tasting, with a very creamy consistency. They are also the perfect size for me (watching the calories) and my children.
  2. My children are 17 and 7. We haven't had Mini Milks before, because they tend to like ice lollies over ice-cream.
  3. They loved them. The size is perfect for an after-dinner treat (and on occasion for a before dinner snack). My 7 year old doesn't have a huge appetite and will abandon lollies/icecreams to drip on a table when he's had enough. I like that there was no waste with these, they have all been finished, and there was no mess! My teenage son 'vanished' all four chocolate Mini Milks over the weekend, and my younger son loves the vanilla ones. My favourite is vanilla too, but the strawberry is a close second (luckily!)
  4. I would definitely recommend them to friends. They will be perfect for summer when we have a garden full of children!
aftereight · 16/06/2015 12:15
  1. What was your overall impression of Mini Milks?
That they are a great snack. But they seem smaller than in the olden days?
  1. Which of your children tried Mini Milk? How old are your DCs? Have they tried Mini Milks before?
DS6 & DD10 and me They have tried minimelks before, but not for about 3 yrs.
  1. Did your child enjoy the Mini Milks? If so, what did your child like about them? And which was their favourite flavour?
DS didn't like them, but he's not a fan of any icecream/sorbet type foods. DD loved them, especially the chocolate. She didn't really like the strawberry flavour.
  1. Would you recommend Mini Milks to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes - low cal, small, the vanilla doesn't stain clothes, good vaue and they make a great late night post wine snack
DeepestDarkestRiver · 16/06/2015 13:25

1. What was your overall impression of Mini Milks?
Good size for a treat; nice flavours; a good option

2. Which of your children tried Mini Milk? How old are your DCs? Have they tried Mini Milks before?
My two DC: DS6 and DS3. They had tried them once or twice before at friends' houses.

3. Did your child enjoy the Mini Milks? If so, what did your child like about them? And which was their favourite flavour?
Sadly, no, they didn't. They like the idea of ice cream, but don't particularly like it in real life (too cold, I think), and never finish it.

I think they liked the size (small-things appeal), and DS6 liked the strawberry flavour whereas DS3 preferred the vanilla, but neither was keen on the chocolate. Kids' things are often so vibrantly coloured these days the colour wasn't very appealing to them, but I liked the shades.

Initially they liked how soft they are compared with ice lollies, but weren't happy at the mess they caused when they started to melt, which seemed more than other ice lollies.

I personally thought they were delicious (didn't try the chocolate, though) and was happy to finish them off when they were abandoned.

4. Would you recommend Mini Milks to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?
I would, for kids who like ice cream. I think they make a great alternative treat, and are just the right size for that.

bretonbee · 16/06/2015 13:27
  1. Good first impression, packaging looks attractive
  2. My 5 year old DS tried them. He has had them before, they were first lolly I would buy him when younger and are still a favourite.
  3. He likes chocolate best but they are all popular. Mummy loved vanilla - reminds her of being young!
  4. Definitely recommend, perfect size for a little child's treat
marmitemad · 16/06/2015 13:50
  1. What was your overall impression of Mini Milks?
everyone loved them, nice bright packaging & good size for an after school treat
  1. Which of your children tried Mini Milk? How old are your DCs? Have they tried Mini Milks before?
dd1 age 8 has had them before as a toddler dd2 age 2 had not had them before
  1. Did your child enjoy the Mini Milks? If so, what did your child like about them? And which was their favourite flavour?
yes both were very happy & have had to hide the next box from dd2! dd1 preferred chocolate and said they were nice and creamy but not big enough for her dd2 loved all flavours and keeps looking for more in the freezer every day
  1. Would you recommend Mini Milks to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?
yes as a good size for little ones and fairly healthy. not too pricey either the chocolate lolly has stained dd2's clothes though despite a bib and soaking straight after
12LuDo · 16/06/2015 14:15
  1. What was your overall impression of Mini Milks?
I love the size of them, it makes them perfect for little ones, especially if you are in a hurry and want to cool your child down without waiting for them to eat an entire ice cream!
  1. Which of your children tried Mini Milk? How old are your DCs? Have they tried Mini Milks before?
My son, 9, tried them for the purposes of the survey. I don't think he's tried them before, not that he remembers, anyway!
  1. Did your child enjoy the Mini Milks? If so, what did your child like about them? And which was their favourite flavour?
He really enjoyed them. He loved the packaging and how easy they are to eat! He liked the choccy one best.
  1. Would you recommend Mini Milks to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes, for the reasons outlined above, they are a great snack for a hot day, very reasonably priced and the size is very convenient!
sweetsomethings · 16/06/2015 14:27

My son loved the Mini milks i had forgotten all about them as i used to eat them when i was a child. We loved how we could have a little treat and not too much calories. They are that low in calories that i would be happy for him to have one every-time its sunny in the garden or after dinner as a treat. His favorite flavor was the milk one i think if he could have a box just of these he would be thrilled.

MTBMummy · 16/06/2015 15:19

Just to add one minor point, there didn't seem to be an even distribution of flavors in the box, so I only had 2 chocolate ones (I'm not allowed to touch DD's strawberry ones) Sad

Gmat38 · 16/06/2015 17:17
  1. Nicely packaged. First couple of shops did not have them in. Finally got them from tesco.
  2. 8 year old son has tried them.
  3. After a few weeks of trying them, son likes the chocolate and strawberry the best. Not so keen on vanilla, which is ok as I like that flavour.
  4. Yes would recommend. They are low calorie and are also nice tasting. May need to shop around to find them in some areas.
ritagcabrita · 16/06/2015 18:42
  1. What was your overall impression of Mini Milks?

Good, great size and great flavour.

  1. Which of your children tried Mini Milk? How old are your DCs? Have they tried Mini Milks before?
My child is aged 2 and tried all Mini Milks. They had never tried them before. He loved them and wanted to have two each time!
  1. Did your child enjoy the Mini Milks? If so, what did your child like about them? And which was their favourite flavour?
He loved the flavour and the format. His favourite was the chocolate one.
  1. Would you recommend Mini Milks to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes, I would recommend because they are good value and a god source of calcium.
IllhaveaPpleaseBob · 16/06/2015 18:57
  1. Overall impression: a decent box of small lollies, handy to keep in the freezer. Not stocked everywhere though, we tried 3 different shops.
  2. My 11 year old tried them, she loves them & they remind her of being very little, when this was the only lolly she ever used to eat. My 12 year old would probably have eaten 6 in one sitting.
  3. She loved them & surprisingly said Vanilla was her favourite flavour - it reminded her of frozen whipped cream (usually chocolate gets the vote)
  4. Yes I would recommend, especially to smaller children. They are fairly unique in their size.
Ren1974 · 16/06/2015 19:33
  1. What was your overall impression of Mini Milks?

Nice size ice-cream treat for a little one as other ice-cream products are too large for my 3 year old.

  1. Which of your children tried Mini Milk? How old are your DCs? Have they tried Mini Milks before?

Boy 7 and he has tried before (although he thinks they are too small for him now), daughter 3 and she tried once last year but I have not bought since as she does not like the chocolate ones.

  1. Did your child enjoy the Mini Milks? If so, what did your child like about them? And which was their favourite flavour?

Both children liked the taste of the white one a lot, they also enjoyed the strawberry but neither liked the chocolate.

  1. Would you recommend Mini Milks to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

No i don't think I would bring them up in conversation but if asked my opinion I would let friend know what i think in that they are an ideal ice-cream treat for little ones.

I would suggest that the white ones were also sold in boxes on their own as i think most children prefer this flavour and I will not buy a multipack if I have to chuck the chocolate ones away.

1. What was your overall impression of Mini Milks?
They're a blast from the past, I distinctively remember them form my own childhood. My youngest loves them and my eldest who normally wont eat ice-cream preferring ice lollies (water based) was happy to eat tem too, the flavours are just right too my eldest loves the chocolate and youngest the strawberry, I had to eat the milk ones (i's a hard life!)

2. Which of your children tried Mini Milk? How old are your DCs? Have they tried Mini Milks before?
Both my DC tried mini-milks they are aged 12 years and 10.5 years old. They have had mini-milks before, my youngest loves them they're exactly what appeals to her, milk based ice-creams. My eldest wouldn't choose them as a first option but didn't refuse them.

3. Did your child enjoy the Mini Milks? If so, what did your child like about them? And which was their favourite flavour?
Youngest loves tem, they're ice-cream on a stick, se loves strawberry flavour, she loves all things pink and strawberries are her favourite (apparently they are the only fruit she will eat). Eldest liked the chocolate flavour which was a welcome preference as she has reached the age where her milk intake is very low, wont drink it won't eat ice-creams, think she liked these as they aren't too big and are essentially a chocolate ice-cream.

4. Would you recommend Mini Milks to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes I would, they're a good source of calcium I don't mind normal sugar content in ice-creams prefer them to sweetners and they're tasty DC like them.

minimumeffort · 17/06/2015 11:41
  1. My overall impression was a well packaged treat for kids.
  1. My daughter has tried and enjoyed mini milks before. She is 4 years old. My 9 month old enjoyed a few licks if his sisters too!
  1. My daughter enjoyed the mini milk. Her favourite flavour was chocolate.
  1. I would recommend mini milks to a friend as they are healthier than normal choc ices etc and are a perfect size for kids.
Rishi79 · 17/06/2015 11:50
  1. What was your overall impression of Mini Milks?
Short and Sweet, Perfect size as I would like my children enjoy Ice cream/Lollies... but at the same time, I always looked for smaller sizes so it isn't too much for them (They consume atleast one everyday in summer and sometimes it is multiples)
  1. Which of your children tried Mini Milk? How old are your DCs? Have they tried Mini Milks before?
Both my Daughters. 3 and 9. This is the first time I have got them Mini Milk. I usually buy Magnum mini for them.
  1. Did your child enjoy the Mini Milks? If so, what did your child like about them? And which was their favourite flavour?
They loved it, Older one claimed she could smell and taste Milk a lot :), Little one too young to comment except saying "WoW" and "Yuck", I heard a "WoW" for Mini Milk, so Happy mum. They are always a huge fan of Vanilla and there was no deviation from it. They still loved Vanilla.
  1. Would you recommend Mini Milks to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

Ofcourse I will, Mainly because of the Perfect size. And it was indeed tasty - I did taste Mini Milk :)

Number3cometome · 17/06/2015 20:13

If so, why? Kids absolutely love them, much lower calorie, sugar and fat content than a bowl of ice cream. A lovely summer treat, and for me, possible the best treatment for heartburn I have found so far!!
(35+3)

Miss the jokes on the lollystick though!
