This is the feedback thread for the 250 Mumsnetters who are testing out Mini Milk.

Here’s what Wall’s say: “Small, but perfectly formed, our Mini Milk range is a firm favourite within the Wall’s range of ice creams. With a choice of three delicious flavours, Vanilla, Strawberry and Chocolate, Mini Milk is a yummy treat you can feel confident giving to your kids this summer.”

Here are some questions to get you started, but please feel free to add your own comments too:

  1. What was your overall impression of Mini Milks?
  2. Which of your children tried Mini Milk? How old are your DCs? Have they tried Mini Milks before?
  3. Did your child enjoy the Mini Milks? If so, what did your child like about them? And which was their favourite flavour?
  4. Would you recommend Mini Milks to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

Everyone who adds their feedback, as well as completing the short feedback survey we will be emailing to you, will be entered into a prize draw where one winner will receive a £300 John Lewis voucher.

Please note: your anonymous comments may be used by Wall’s on their website and other marketing materials.

Thanks,
MNHQ

Thank you for the voucher!!

  1. When I told DH I had been selected to try them he was even more excited than I was! Neither of us remember the last time we had one, but we both have fond memories of them. Overall impression is that they're lovely as a small post dinner treat, or a lovely refreshing snack on a sunny afternoon. Like the clear individual wrappers as you can see what flavour they are.
  1. My 16 month old DS tried them for the first time.
  1. Judging by the mess made, and the "mmmmmm" noises whilst eating them, he loved all three flavours and wouldn't share the vanilla one with DH.
  1. Absolutely - and in fact, I already have!! Perfect for kids and adults alike. Thank you for the voucher - we've already bought the second box!
RustyParker · 04/06/2015 17:00
  1. What was your overall impression of Mini Milks?

Attractive and eye catching box. Seems to be appealing to older children as the cow has been replaced by a lion. Unusual in that Mini Milks seems to be the only product that has seemingly stayed the same size and quality as I remember from my childhood! Great that the lollies didn't melt quickly and stayed on the stick. Given they are milk based I felt it was a healthier treat for DS and liked that they weren't too big. Perfect for summer days. I would like to see a box of just vanilla available alongside the original though as I know some of my friends avoid chocolate flavoured treats for their DC (and I think vanilla ones are the best!).

  1. Which of your children tried Mini Milk? How old are your DCs? Have they tried Mini Milks before?

DS aged nearly 8. He hadn't tried mini milks before and after trying, couldn't believe I had never bought them before. To be honest, neither could I.

  1. Did your child enjoy the Mini Milks? If so, what did your child like about them? And which was their favourite flavour?

DS LOVED them. His favourite being chocolate closely followed by vanilla. He remarked they were like frozen milkshakes and immediately wanted for another.

  1. Would you recommend Mini Milks to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

I would definitely recommend Mini Milks to a friend. The price seems about right although I wouldn't pay any more than £2 for them. They appeal to the whole family and don't feel like artifical junk so happy for DS to indulge.

StillNoFuckingEyeDeer · 04/06/2015 20:14

My local supermarket had sold out of mini milks when I first went in with my voucher. I went back today and they haven't restocked yet, but hopefully they'll get some in soon.
Today we stopped at the beach and I bought the DDs a mini milk each. They both got chocolate flavour, which was the only flavour in the shop, but coincidentally the only flavour ice cream DD1 will eat. I was a bit shocked to find out they were 70p each these days. The DDs both loved them. Best of all, there wasn't that much mess (most people would probably say there was more than enough mess, but it's all relative)!

  1. What was your overall impression of Mini Milks? I felt very nostalgic! They're still fun and a great little treat.
  2. Which of your children tried Mini Milk? How old are your DCs? Have they tried Mini Milks before?
DD1 (4) and DD2 (1). They haven't tried mini milks before.
  1. Did your child enjoy the Mini Milks? If so, what did your child like about them? And which was their favourite flavour?
They loved them. DD1 loved it because it was 'chocolatey' and 'yummy'. They've only tried chocolate so far. I'll have to report back when I've managed to pick up a box with all the flavours.
  1. Would you recommend Mini Milks to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?
I would, because they're a great little treat - not too big and not too sweet, but I would buy them from the supermarket to have at home. They're overpriced when bought individually, IMO.
sleepyhead · 04/06/2015 20:17

The box is attractive and I like that there are 3 flavours included. Price wise (voucher aside) it was comparable to other ice lollies on sale but I like that the portion size is small - more in a box, and plenty for a treat for a little one.

Both my 8 yr old and my 2 yr old have tried one of each flavour over the last few days, either for an afterschool treat or as pudding.

Ds2 made the predictable toddler mess but absolutely loved it. He hasn't had an ice lolly of any type before and after the first one his eyes lit up when he sees the box coming out of the freezer.

Ds1 has had mini milks before when much younger and was excited to try them again. Chocolate was the favourite with him and I think he'd prefer a box of just one flavour. Ds2 has not expressed a preference but I'd probably stick to vanilla for him just to minimise stainingHmm

I remember these being the only ice lollies we got when we were small, I think probably because they were so cheap, so I felt quite nostalgic about having one. I was a bit disappointed that they're not wrapped in paper any more, but they tasted how I remembered and were very moreish....

I'd definitely recommend to others and they would be a good buy to take to the park after school for a crowd.

Thanks for letting me try them and reminding me they exist - local shops don't seem to sell them individually any more which is a shame.

Bigbadgeorge · 04/06/2015 20:34
  1. Good packaging and just the right size
  2. My 2 yo. She hadn't had one before last month.
  3. She loves them! Probably
Thegentlemonkey · 04/06/2015 20:45
  1. Overall pleased - nice packaging, about the right price point and a good size for children to be able to give for pudding without feeling like they've had a massive hit of sugar.
2&3. DS age 4 and DD 12 months both tried them for the first time - DS loved them, especially chocolate! Only gave DD vanilla, she had a mixed response, she kept trying to hold it but then I think her hands got too cold, also bit it & then didn't like the cold, but did still keep persevering for 5-10 minutes so she must have liked the taste. And she had another try another night. Myself & DH also enjoyed a couple! 4. Yes I would, for the reasons in 1.
knitwitter · 04/06/2015 20:59
  1. What was your overall impression of Mini Milks?
I was impressed with the packaging, as it appealed to older children as well as younger ones.
  1. Which of your children tried Mini Milk? How old are your DCs? Have they tried Mini Milks before?
My DS 1 and 2 both enjoyed them They are 12 and 9. We used to buy them, but they had moved onto other ice creams. Mini milks are perfect though, as a mid week pudding or a treat when they are playing out in the sun.
  1. Did your child enjoy the Mini Milks? If so, what did your child like about them? And which was their favourite flavour?
Both DC loved them. They liked all the flavours, and DS2 enjoyed thinking about other flavours he would enjoy. He came up with banana and tropical. They liked the vanilla one the best.
  1. Would you recommend Mini Milks to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?
I would recommend them, especially to parents of older children who have forgotten how tasty they are!
Sparkles23 · 04/06/2015 21:19
  1. What was your overall impression of Mini Milks?

Good, really nice bright packaging which appealed, very different to how I remember the packaging when I was a child.

  1. Which of your children tried Mini Milk? How old are your DCs? Have they tried Mini Milks before?

Both my children tried them, my 4 year old son and my 13m old daughter (wasn't planning to let her try one but she wanted one when she saw her brother have his!). It was my daughters first one but my son had had one before at a birthday party the other week.

  1. Did your child enjoy the Mini Milks? If so, what did your child like about them? And which was their favourite flavour?

Yes my son loved them! He likes them all, was reluctant to have the pink one as he thought it was for girls but soon as he tasted it he loved it. Think he likes the chocolate one best.

My daughter also loved it judging by how quickly she ate it!

  1. Would you recommend Mini Milks to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes I would they are the perfect size for a treat and not too unhealthy, definitely a pudding I don't mind them having! Not every day but as a treat and like the fact they are full of calcium.

Candyperfumegirl · 05/06/2015 09:29
  1. What was your overall impression of Mini Milks?

I thought the packaging was very bright and appealing to children. I liked that the box contained 12 individually wrapped lollies, I also liked the size of the lollies - perfect for little hands and tummies. It is great that they are fortified with calcium and contain no artificial colours or flavours but I was a little concerned with some of the other ingredients particularly: Sugar, Glucose-Fructose Syrup, Glucose Syrup, Fructose Syrup. I didnt see any traffic colour code system on the packaging which I felt would have been helpful especially considering this is a product aimed at kids. I was happy to give these to my DCs as an occasional treat (especially during this hot weather!) but I probably wouldnt buy them regularly.

  1. Which of your children tried Mini Milk? How old are your DCs? Have they tried Mini Milks before?

My 2 DCs tried the Mini Milks - aged 5 & 12. Neither of them have tried Mini Milks before so they were very excited!

  1. Did your child enjoy the Mini Milks? If so, what did your child like about them? And which was their favourite flavour?

My children did enjoy the Mini Milks, they were particularly impressed with their size and remarked that they were "cute", they each tried all the flavours with vanilla being their favourite which surprised me as I thought they would have prefered the chocolate!

  1. Would you recommend Mini Milks to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

I am not sure I would recommend Mini Milks over any other frozen treat, simply because there is such a wide choice of these products. Personally I usually buy what is on offer and will often opt for supermarket own brands which tend to be exactly the same but at half the price. If I saw them on offer I would consider purchasing them especially during the summer holidays.

bshree08 · 05/06/2015 10:38

1. What was your overall impression of Mini Milks?
Very good, very good quality I like it very much and my children loved it.

2. Which of your children tried Mini Milk? How old are your DCs? Have they tried Mini Milks before?
My 5 yr old girl and my two yr old boy both loved it. No they have not tried them before.

3. Did your child enjoy the Mini Milks? If so, what did your child like about them? And which was their favourite flavour?
They loved it, my girl loved the strawberry and my boy loved the vanilla flavour.

4. Would you recommend Mini Milks to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes I will surely recommend, as they are made with pure milk and its tasty treat and I loved it when I was little and now my kids. Wink

Spirael · 05/06/2015 13:36

1. What was your overall impression of Mini Milks?
They seemed just the same as the ones I remember from childhood, so there was some nice nostalgia there.

2. Which of your children tried Mini Milk? How old are your DCs? Have they tried Mini Milks before?
I think DD1 (5 YO) may have had one before, but DD2 (1 YO) hadn't.

3. Did your child enjoy the Mini Milks? If so, what did your child like about them? And which was their favourite flavour?
DD1 thought they were delicious and has declared chocolate as her favourite - no surprises there! DD2 was less impressed; she gave us a filthy, lemon sucking look that we'd dared serve her something so cold! But then it was her first try of a frozen dessert, I'm sure she'll come around in time. Wink

4. Would you recommend Mini Milks to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?
I would recommend them, if it happened to come up - but for DD1's age more than DD2. They're a good size for young children, so you don't get waste when they can't manage the whole of a bigger ice-cream.

DD1 had trouble getting the plastic wrapper off her mini milk and is at the age where she doesn't like asking for help. Not sure if there is any way to make that easier for her? Meanwhile, aside from not liking the strange cold thing we fed her, DD2 had trouble holding on to the small section of stick - clenched in her fist at her age. Might be easier for her if the protruding stick were made a bit longer.

BonjourMinou · 05/06/2015 15:55
  1. What was your overall impression of Mini Milks?

I really like them, they're a nice size for toddlers and they're in a good range of flavours. I remember eating them when I was a child, but for some reason they're not sold in ice cream vans locally any more, so this was the first time my daughter tried them.

  1. Which of your children tried Mini Milk? How old are your DCs? Have they tried Mini Milks before?

My daughter, 18 months, tried them - it was her first time.

  1. Did your child enjoy the Mini Milks? If so, what did your child like about them? And which was their favourite flavour?

Well she's only 18 months so her main feedback was looking at me saying mmmm yummy! mmmm!, especially with the chocolate flavour. She's her mother's daughter...

  1. Would you recommend Mini Milks to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes I definitely would, they're a good size, really reasonably priced and a good way of cooling kids down, especially on hot days like we're currently having. Also they made surprisingly little mess!

01818118181 · 05/06/2015 17:12

Thanks for the voucher- here's the feedback from us

  1. What was your overall impression of Mini Milks? Really good- kids haven't had them in ages but DS1 remembered what they were straight away. I thought they looked like a' good' treat (didn't look like it was full of additives/e numbers/ sugar etc)
  1. Which of your children tried Mini Milk? How old are your DCs? Have they tried Mini Milks before? Both children tried the mini milks- 3 and 4 years old. They have had them before but over a year ago! So was surprised the 4 year old remembered them!
  2. Did your child enjoy the Mini Milks? If so, what did your child like about them? And which was their favourite flavour? DS1 liked the strawberry one. Said it tasted fruity! and DS2 liked the chocolate one best (neither were too keen or interested in trying the vanilla ones until they were the last ones left, but still enjoyed them) I liked the vanilla ones best and they were a great size. Not too big or filling but a great snack size.
  3. Would you recommend Mini Milks to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?
Will definitely recommend and buy again. They lived up to and exceeded my expectations. For some reason I had remembered them as quite sickly sweet but don't think they were like they at all. Much creamer and satisfying than I recall!
Babedestiny · 05/06/2015 17:24
  1. What was your overall impression of Mini Milks?
Good packaging, design and very appropriate size for children with different flavour so they don't get bored with it.
  1. Which of your children tried Mini Milk? How old are your DCs? Have they tried Mini Milks before?3) Did your child enjoy the Mini Milks? If so, what did your child like about them? And which was their favourite flavour?

7 years and 2 years old,not only that both parents as well.First time trying it as family.2 years old love every flavour.
7 years old love the chocolate most, followed by vanilla but did not like the strawberry one but her brother,2 years old was there to finish it off :)

  1. Would you recommend Mini Milks to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?
Definitely thumbs up for recommendation as it is a healthy version to other lolly out there and plus this is the first time my daughter,7 years old finished it as other ice creams that we have bought in the past come in bigger size. And The price was just right for 12 lolly in multipack. After this,I am only buying my children mini milk as I feel good knowing I am giving them a healthier version with the perfect size mini milk as I am usually very particular with healthy food. Thank you for letting us try this.We were very pleased with it .
chunkychocky · 05/06/2015 18:08
  1. What was your overall impression of Mini Milks?
I don't know why but for some reason in my head I had always considered them gimmicky and classified them along with luminous chemical-filled ice lollies. I was so wrong. They are delicious, and full of goodness. We all love them.
  1. Which of your children tried Mini Milk? How old are your DCs? Have they tried Mini Milks before?
Both of my sons, aged 7 and 9, ate them. They've never had them before, but are converts to the shrine of Mini Milk now! :D
  1. Did your child enjoy the Mini Milks? If so, what did your child like about them? And which was their favourite flavour?
Neither of them can decide which is their favourite flavour as they love them all. They love how creamy they are and how the shape makes them so easy to suck.
  1. Would you recommend Mini Milks to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?
I definitely would recommend them to friends and family. In fact, I already have!
MummyBtothree · 05/06/2015 18:17
  1. What was your overall impression of Mini Milks?

They were absolutely delicious! the whole family loved them although we were all falling out over the chocolate flavour!.

  1. Which of your children tried Mini Milk? How old are your DCs? Have they tried Mini Milks before?

My children are 3, 11, and 13. The older two have had mini milks but not for a long time. All three loved them :).

  1. Did your child enjoy the Mini Milks? If so, what did your child like about them? And which was their favourite flavour?

They loved the milky creaminess but were all falling out over the chocolate ones!.

  1. Would you recommend Mini Milks to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes I would recommend them as they are a perfect treat size and contain fresh milk :) :)

dm2ooo · 05/06/2015 18:51

Thanks for the treat - we all really enjoyed it.

  1. What was your overall impression of Mini Milks?
Good size treat for kids - more creamy and substantial than an ice-lolly but not too big (like some ice cream lollies). Lots of nostalgia for the adults and happy tummies for the kids! Good for all ages!
  1. Which of your children tried Mini Milk? How old are your DCs? Have they tried Mini Milks before?
20 months, 8 years and 15 years. All have had Mini Milks before.
  1. Did your child enjoy the Mini Milks? If so, what did your child like about them? And which was their favourite flavour?
All the kids loved their Mini Milks and asked for them again the next day over other puddings available. The younger ones are vanilla all the way - which is fine with me as I prefer Strawberry and Chocolate (a mixed one would be perfect). The baby liked his Mini Milk but, if I had one suggestion, it would making the stick longer. We had to wrap the bottom of the mini milk so he could hold it properly.
  1. Would you recommend Mini Milks to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?
I would recommend them for flavour and portion size - a much healthier treat than many others.
icclemunchy · 05/06/2015 18:56
  1. What was your overall impression of Mini Milks?

Just as good as I remember from my childhood!

  1. Which of your children tried Mini Milk? How old are your DCs? Have they tried Mini Milks before?

DD who's 4. She hasn't had mini milks before

  1. Did your child enjoy the Mini Milks? If so, what did your child like about them? And which was their favourite flavour?

She did, she liked that face that we had "ice cream" as a treat from the freezer rather than an ice lolly. She was less keen on strawberry but loved the chocolate and vanilla

  1. Would you recommend Mini Milks to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes, is an old favourite and a good price. They're also toddler freindly size wise

TealCarpet · 05/06/2015 19:37

Thank you for the voucher.

What was your overall impression of Mini Milks?
Fun packaging and tasty, plus they made me feel a bit nostalgic!

Which of your children tried Mini Milk? How old are your DCs? Have they tried Mini Milks before?
Both my DCs tried them (4 and 2). They've both had them before but not for a while.

Did your child enjoy the Mini Milks? If so, what did your child like about them? And which was their favourite flavour?
Yes they both liked them a lot. I was surprised that the chocolate was the least favourite, I think the vanilla just about won, but closely followed by the strawberry.

Would you recommend Mini Milks to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes I would. They are the right size (I dislike how big some ice creams are as they are far too big to give a toddler) and whilst they have sugar in them they are not crammed full of sugar/artificial stuff, so as an occassional treat/pudding they are fine.

TooMuchCheesecake · 05/06/2015 20:11

  1. What was your overall impression of Mini Milks?
Love them!! Great flavours, perfect size I think as a treat and not so big that they melt all over the place whilst being eaten, slowly... Have always liked them. Also really great for grown ups!!

Have DS who is six and a 2.5 year old DD. Both had them before and are big fans.

  1. What was your overall impression of Mini Milks?
I've always liked them. They are a good size for kids and taste fab. Re the packaging, dc1 is vegetarian and I couldn't see a v for vegetarian symbol on box. I'm assuming that the strawberry ones aren't vegetarian.

Both tried them,9 & 13. Yes they have had them before.
  1. Did your child enjoy the Mini Milks? If so, what did your child like about them? And which was their favourite flavour?
