This is the feedback thread for the 250 Mumsnetters who are testing out Mini Milk.

Here’s what Wall’s say: “Small, but perfectly formed, our Mini Milk range is a firm favourite within the Wall’s range of ice creams. With a choice of three delicious flavours, Vanilla, Strawberry and Chocolate, Mini Milk is a yummy treat you can feel confident giving to your kids this summer.”

Here are some questions to get you started, but please feel free to add your own comments too:

  1. What was your overall impression of Mini Milks?
  2. Which of your children tried Mini Milk? How old are your DCs? Have they tried Mini Milks before?
  3. Did your child enjoy the Mini Milks? If so, what did your child like about them? And which was their favourite flavour?
  4. Would you recommend Mini Milks to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

Everyone who adds their feedback, as well as completing the short feedback survey we will be emailing to you, will be entered into a prize draw where one winner will receive a £300 John Lewis voucher.

Please note: your anonymous comments may be used by Wall’s on their website and other marketing materials.

Thanks,

  1. What was your overall impression of Mini Milks?

Attractive packaging and a good sized box to fit in the freezer. My daughter immediately knew it was a yummy treat from the graphics on the box.

  1. Which of your children tried Mini Milk? How old are your DCs? Have they tried Mini Milks before?

My daughter is 20 months and this was her first experience of a 'stick treat'. She really enjoyed the independence of being able to hold it herself.

  1. Did your child enjoy the Mini Milks? If so, what did your child like about them? And which was their favourite flavour?

My daughter loves them! She has tried so the flavours and enjoyed them but the strawberry seemed to be her favourite. They are the perfect size for her, she could hold it by herself and managed to eat it before it melted all over her!

  1. Would you recommend Mini Milks to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

I would recommend them to everyone, children and adults alike, as daddy seemed to enjoy them as much as her Smile

deepdarkwood · 02/06/2015 09:20

MNHQ: just to let you know, I still haven't had a voucher through for this ... should they all have arrived by now?

  1. What was your overall impression of Mini Milks?
As usual the box was emptied almost as quick as it took to open it, Mini Milks boxes do not go back in the freezer in our house. Everyone loves them!
  1. Which of your children tried Mini Milk? How old are your DCs? Have they tried Mini Milks before?
My eldest DD (age 7) has had them numerous times before and is the keeper of the box to enusre that everyone gets the same amount. My youngest DD (age 17 months) had never tried them before, but they have become a firm favouite. DH (age ???) also loves them and has been known to hide the chocolate ones for when the kids are in bed.
  1. Did your child enjoy the Mini Milks? If so, what did your child like about them? And which was their favourite flavour?
Loved them - eldest prefers vanilla, youngest seemed to prefer strawberry and DH - chocolate!!!
  1. Would you recommend Mini Milks to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?
I would definitely recommend Mini Milks - they are excellent size for both a dessert and a snack for children. Quite often other lollies etc are too large so there is a lot of waste.
Treadlightly · 02/06/2015 11:07

Thanks for the vouchers!

  1. What was your overall impression of Mini Milks?
We liked the packaging, nice colourful box & a good pack size. The whole family loves them & they're a nice treat for my daughter. They are just the right size for her- she is 5.
  1. Which of your children tried Mini Milk? How old are your DCs? Have they tried Mini Milks before?
Just my daughter, she's 5 & yes she's had them before. Not since last summer though so she had forgotten about them.
  1. Did your child enjoy the Mini Milks? If so, what did your child like about them? And which was their favourite flavour?
She loved them. She liked the chocolate ones best. She said they are yummy, creamy & very chocolatey!
  1. Would you recommend Mini Milks to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes, definitely! They are a great little treat for all the family. Healthyish & cheap. No bright garish colours & just the right size.
WhatsGoingOnEh · 02/06/2015 15:46

1. What was your overall impression of Mini Milks?

I've always loved Mini Milks. Except the pink ones are rather an embarrassing shape to eat in public. Blush they're very low-calorie too.

2. Which of your children tried Mini Milk?

DS1 (12) and DS2 (7).

Have they tried Mini Milks before?

Yes, they've had them at their Nana's.

3. Did your child enjoy the Mini Milks?

DS2: "it was actually really good. I just like the taste!" (That was the strawberry one.)

DS1 (vanilla): "I think that it's really nice. I like the idea of having a healthy ice-cream snack. Yeah. That's it."

DS2: "I just really want to have another one of these. Are we allowed?"

DS1: "are you writing down our whole conversation?!"

If so, what did your child like about them?

Ds1: "the idea [of a healthy ice-lolly]. And the taste."
DS2: "the way they fill you up if you have three."

And which was their favourite flavour?

DS2: "the chocolate one is very chocolatey. I like that best."

DS1: "most other chocolate ice-creams are far too rich, but this one is just a subtle hint of chocolate."

4. Would you recommend Mini Milks to friends or family? If so, why?

YES. They are INSANELY low in calories. Just 32 calories per lolly! That's less than an apple! The summer treat that won't spoil your bikini. :)

Francescal88 · 02/06/2015 17:37
  1. What was your overall impression of Mini Milks?
Good, attractive packaging, easy to open the actual lollies without making mess
  1. Which of your children tried Mini Milk? How old are your DCs? Have they tried Mini Milks before?
My DS who is 15 months, has never had mini milk before
  1. Did your child enjoy the Mini Milks? If so, what did your child like about them? And which was their favourite flavour?
He enjoyed them very much, although the chocolate one for rejected. His favourite flavour seemed to be strawberry. I think the mini milks were a good size for him, they don't seem to make as much mess as other ice lollies and were not as sticky to clean up.
  1. Would you recommend Mini Milks to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes I would, I thought 12 lollies for £2 was very good value, and my DS enjoyed them very much
ChutesTooNarrow · 02/06/2015 20:15

1. What was your overall impression of Mini Milks? they are a perfect size treat for small children.
2. Which of your children tried Mini Milk? How old are your DCs? Have they tried Mini Milks before? ds age 5 and dd age 2. Ds has had once or twice before, I think dd may have also tried one previously.
3. Did your child enjoy the Mini Milks? If so, what did your child like about them? And which was their favourite flavour? they both really liked them. All flavours were a hit.
4. Would you recommend Mini Milks to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not? yes I probably would as they are a great size, normally my 2 year gets fed up half through a larger lolly and it melts everywhere. This wasn't an issue with the mini milks.

ButterflyOfFreedom · 02/06/2015 21:26
  1. What was your overall impression of Mini Milks?
Lovely little treat, perfect size for my little one, bright packaging, and nice flavours
  1. Which of your children tried Mini Milk? How old are your DCs? Have they tried Mini Milks before?
My DS who is nearly 3 tried them - he's never had one before.
  1. Did your child enjoy the Mini Milks? If so, what did your child like about them? And which was their favourite flavour?
Yes he did! Very much so - he saw it as a real treat! He liked the strawberry one best.
  1. Would you recommend Mini Milks to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes I would. They are nice treat especially for the summer! Perfect size, nice flavours, and I like that they are healthy-ish as they (obviously!) contain milk and calcium.
MrsMarigold · 03/06/2015 09:05
  1. What was your overall impression of Mini Milks?

Good, an old favourite. Just the right size for a child and from a nutritional perspective Mini Milks are better than many "fruity" ice lollies.

  1. Which of your children tried Mini Milk? How old are your DCs? Have they tried Mini Milks before?

My four year old tried them, and my 32 month old tried them. They had Mini Milks last summer.

  1. Did your child enjoy the Mini Milks? If so, what did your child like about them? And which was their favourite flavour?

Yes, my daughter like the pink ones but she is heavily into pink and my son enjoyed them all no favourite there. They even tried to raid the freezer to help themselves to more.

  1. Would you recommend Mini Milks to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes I would, they are tasty. They aren't too expensive if bought in the multipack and each lolly is just the right size and as I said above better than many other fruity ice lollies. However I still prefer Yoo Moo frozen yoghurt lolies in terms of flavour and packaging.

Flybygirly29 · 03/06/2015 10:54
  1. What was your overall impression of Mini Milks

A perfect size for a treat for my little one

  1. Which of your Children tried the Mini Milk? How old are you DCs? Have they tried mini milks before?

My 16 month old tried them, she'd never had one before

  1. Did your child enjoy the Mini Milks? If so what did your child like about them? and which was their favourite flavour?

By the look of it smeared all over her face she enjoyed it after she got over the initial cold shock. She like the strawberry one best I think because it's the sweetest.

  1. Would you recommend Mini Milks to friends of family?

Yes they are a great size for a treat, don't cost a bomb and a good source of milk!

JoCar72 · 03/06/2015 13:04
  1. What was your overall impression of Mini Milks?

I was taken with just how colourful, bold and inviting the packaging was and the nice 'small' proportions of each lolly. They were the perfect size for little hands to hold but not so big they went waving around the place bashing pieces off. My little boy's eye's lit up when I first gave him one.

  1. Which of your children tried Mini Milk? How old are your DCs? Have they tried Mini Milks before?

My little boy is 21 months old so I felt is was the perfect time now he was off baby milk to let him try some proper flavoursome dairy. He has 'plain' milk in his bottle but I shied away from flavours previously for fear of E numbers.

  1. Did your child enjoy the Mini Milks? If so, what did your child like about them? And which was their favourite flavour?

He loved them all, he actually had a cold and sore throat at the time - so they probably were very soothing? I would say he enjoyed them all equally, although strawberry appeared to be his fave. I think he loved the idea of holding them himself and he's well used to sucking on things without any reward so the mini milks seemed heaven sent.

  1. Would you recommend Mini Milks to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

I would 100% recommend the Mini Milks to friends and family. I'm sure every child would love them as much as mine did. They are tasty, satisfying, not too messy and provide good nutients and calcium to protect those baby teeth...I haven't a bad word to say about them product wise, although I agree with some other comments that the price per pack is a bit high and off putting?

Overall it was a very pleasurable experience testing the product out and I will definately buying more of them now. It was an excellent introduction to a dairy product I hadn'y previously considered.

CSIJanner · 03/06/2015 13:06
  1. What was your overall impression of Mini Milks?
The box was bright and the fact that there was 12 in the box was a bonus. The price was good, additionally whenI purchased there was a good offer on 2 boxes. My youngest likes the bright box so much, it's currently on the breakfast table to keep us all "happy and sun shiney"
  1. Which of your children tried Mini Milk? How old are your DCs? Have they tried Mini Milks before?
Both of my DC's tried the mini milks. They are 3yo and 6yo. My eldest used to have mini milks a lot when younger but then moved onto more complex flavours. Like mint choc chip.
  1. Did your child enjoy the Mini Milks? If so, what did your child like about them? And which was their favourite flavour?
Both children really enjoyed the mini milks to the point the 3yo asked for one for breakfast. The favourite of the youngest was chocolate, whereas the eldest preferred strawberry. They liked the fact they were like "cold milkshakes"
  1. Would you recommend Mini Milks to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes, definitely. It wasn't sticky to eat, kept its shape well and was just the right size for a treat, keep cool but not go overboard with a frozen treat.

  1. What was your overall impression of Mini Milks?

Just as I remembered them. Liked the friendly lion on the packets - rather like Driver Dan from the Cbeebies programme.

  1. Which of your children tried Mini Milk? How old are your Dcs? Have they tried Mini Milks before?

My 5 year old tried them. He has never had Mini Milks before.

  1. Did your child enjoy the Mini Milks? If so, what did your child like about them? And which was their favourite flavour?

He tried the vanilla flavour first. He said was like the yummy ice cream we had on holiday. However, then tried the chocolate flavour and indicated this was his favourite. He has smelt the strawberry flavour, however he will not try it. He somewhat adverse to fruity ice cream/ices etc. (I did try the strawberry flavour and thought it was delicious. A pleasant milky taste to it.)

  1. Would you recommend Mini Milks to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes, I would recommend them. Not too many calories in them. Perfect for a Summer treat. Reasonably priced. They were on offer at Sainsburys when I redeemed my voucher.

Worzel77 · 03/06/2015 14:36

What was your overall impression of minimilks?

Loved the packaging. Size of the lollies perfect for little ones. Seem healthier than lots of other lollies.

Which of your children tried minimilk?

4 year old son. He last had them last summer and still seemed to enjoy them.

Did your child enjoy minimilks?

Yes, caught him trying to go back for more! He likes them all but vanilla's my favourite.

Would you recommend minimilk to friends and family?

Yes, kids and adults love them. Good value for money too.

thanksamillion · 03/06/2015 15:37
  1. What was your overall impression of Mini Milks?
I liked them. They're quite small and seem like a reasonably healthy snack.
  1. Which of your children tried Mini Milk? How old are your DCs? Have they tried Mini Milks before? All three DCs tried them and me DCs are 10, 8 and 5. They have tried Mini Milks before but are seasoned lolly/icecream connoisseurs
  2. Did your child enjoy the Mini Milks? If so, what did your child like about them? And which was their favourite flavour?
All three say yes they liked the Mini Milks. They taste nice. 5yo says she liked the colours of them. DS says he liked the size of them (not too big) but maybe there could be other shaped ones too. DDs both prefer vanilla, DS preferred the chocolate.
  1. Would you recommend Mini Milks to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not? Yes we'd recommend them "because they've got lots of flavour and they're perfect for children" (10 yo DD) They seem quite simple but in a good way!
confusedofengland · 03/06/2015 15:39

  1. What was your overall impression of Mini Milks? They are great value for money at £2 for 12. Just right for when you need something cold, something small, something tasty & something cheap
  2. Which of your children tried Mini Milk? How old are your DCs? Have they tried Mini Milks before? DCs are 6, 4 & 15 months. The bigger 2 have had Mini Milks before as I find they are often the cheapest option on ice cream vans when out & about & they are less likely to be wasted as they are small.
  3. Did your child enjoy the Mini Milks? If so, what did your child like about them? And which was their favourite flavour? DS1 & 2 enjoyed the Mini Milks but DS3 just could not get the hang of it, which I think was down to the coldness more than anything (he's not really had ice cream before). DS1 & 2 liked all flavours equally.
  4. Would you recommend Mini Milks to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not? Yes, I would recommend them as a cold, cheap, tasty snack, ideal for smaller DC such as mine.

Thanks for this opportunity Smile

We really liked them, they taste lovely and creamy and are the perfect size for a treat for the children.

  1. Which of your children tried Mini Milk? How old are your DCs? Have they tried Mini Milks before?

My two boys aged 7 and 4 tried them, 7 year old has tried them several years ago, 4 year old has never tried them as he has been on a diary free diet until recently.

  1. Did your child enjoy the Mini Milks? If so, what did your child like about them? And which was their favourite flavour?

Both children really enjoyed them, 7 year old loved the vanilla because it tastes so creamy, 4 year old loved the chocolate as he thought it tasted like frozen milkshake.

  1. Would you recommend Mini Milks to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

Abolutely, perfect size for a treat, tastes lovely and very reasonably priced.

Maiyakat · 03/06/2015 20:04

  1. Would you recommend Mini Milks to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes would recommend, lovely treat for kids (and mums!) and good value

dickinson13 · 03/06/2015 21:35

Here is my feedback:

  1. What was your overall impression of Mini Milks?
They look small but big enough for children. I looked at the nutritional information but wondered why it had values for adults instead of children.
  1. Which of your children tried Mini Milk? How old are your DCs? Have they tried Mini Milks before?
Both my son and daughter tried them as well as us adults. They are 6 and 3. They had tried them before but it was a long time ago.
  1. Did your child enjoy the Mini Milks? If so, what did your child like about them? And which was their favourite flavour?
They loved them. They liked that they tasted like milkshake. My son preferred Strawberry and my daughter preferred Chocolate.
  1. Would you recommend Mini Milks to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes, I would. They are very tasty and a good treat that contains milk. I thought it was strange that a box contains only 3 strawberry and 3 chocolate, but 6 vanilla flavour.
RozTheSchnoz · 04/06/2015 04:23

Our overall impression was good. They are small enough for a nice little treat. They don't drop too much or fall off the stick. They come in 3 simple yet tasty flavours. The outside packaging is appealing to children. Looking at the price of a box of 12, they work out at about 20p an iced lolly which I think is good value. Great to keep in the freezer.

I have 2 children- 2 boys. The eldest boy tried the lollies; he was 2 in February. He hadn't tried them before. DS2 is only 6 weeks old so did not participate in this trial!! 3. DS1 really enjoyed the Mini Milks, commenting regularly that he was a 'lucky boy' to be allowed them! His favourite flavour was chocolate; these were the first to go from the box.

I would recommend Mini Milks to family and friends. They are tasty, low-calorie, easy to just keep in the freezer for a treat, good value for money... Perfect fit the whole family really! (I enjoyed mine as much as DS1 I think!)
Thanks for letting us try this product.

NK5BM3 · 04/06/2015 09:46
  1. What was your overall impression of Mini Milks?
Good, attractive packaging for the children. appears healthy, with the flavours that children tend to like.
  1. Which of your children tried Mini Milk? How old are your DCs? Have they tried Mini Milks before?
both my children tried them. they are 7 and 4 years old. they have had them before but they still enjoyed them.
  1. Did your child enjoy the Mini Milks? If so, what did your child like about them? And which was their favourite flavour?
they did enjoy the mini milks. favourite flavour is always chocolate although they are both very happy with all three. they liked them because they were small enough to eat and were in their favourite flavours. no need to worry about 'strange' and 'unfamiliar' flavours!
  1. Would you recommend Mini Milks to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?
yes - they are tasty, look healthy and are appealing.
GreatBigHoo · 04/06/2015 12:11

Thanks very much for the voucher. The mini milks have proved very popular in our house!

  1. Overall impression is very good. The packaging is nice and bright. They aren't as expensive as I thought, and I think they are pretty good value for money. One thing I really like about them is that they are easy to unwrap - lots of the own brand lollies I usually buy are really sticky and hard to get out of the wrapper. These ones DD1 could manage by herself. I think they are a good size for a treat for younger children.
  1. DDs aged 6 and 3 tried them. They have had Mini Milks in the past but not for a while, and I think only singly when buying from an ice cream van or shop while out and about.
  1. They both really enjoyed them. The chocolate ones were the first to go, but they like all the flavours. DD1 says they are "delicious" and DD2 says "Yum!".
  1. I would definitely recommend them, and I think I will be buying them again myself. More chocolatey ones in the box, though, please!
villagefox · 04/06/2015 13:24

A big not mini success

  1. What was your overall impression of Mini Milks? Positive. The product was easy to find in my small local Tescos and at 2.00 for 12 a reasonable price. The packaging is clearly aimed at children with its bright appealing colours and cartoon lion on the front. So much so that my son realised they must be for him and grabbed them out of the trolley to look at them and ask if he have one then and there. The bold writing of made with fresh milk and the promise of calcium was also positive.
  1. Which of your children tried Mini Milk? How old are your DCs? Have they tried Mini Milks before? As a notoriously fussy eater, my son (who is four) had never had a mini milk before and rarely eats ice-cream. He was excited about trying the mini milk and chose a vanilla one for his pudding after dinner.
  1. Did your child enjoy the Mini Milks? If so, what did your child like about them? And which was their favourite flavour? Although he has not managed to eat a full one yet, not for the want of trying, he told me the vanilla one was yummy. He licked the strawberry one and told me it was "yuck" and has refused to eat the chocolate one as it is "brown"! He told me he liked the vanilla because it is like and ice-cream lolly which is super cool.
  1. Would you recommend Mini Milks to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not? I would recommend mini milks to my friends as they are a nice size and not a very expensive treat. I gave the rest of the flavours to my niece and nephew who wondered where the vanilla had gone (since they were their favourites too!) and ate the chocolate ones as they didnt like the strawberry ones either.

In the future I will buy the individual vanilla mini milks from the local shop since my son has refused to eat the chocolate and strawberry ones as I dont think that you make a pack of just vanilla mini milks?
