This thread is for the 250 Mumsnetters who tested Aldi’s Mamia nappies with their DCs.

They also recently picked up the Bounty Mums Love Gold Best Private Label Nappy award.

“Aldi’s Mamia range is committed to offering savvy mums the best quality nappies for their little ones.

“As the range has been so successful in awards, we thought we’d put them to the test with Mumsnetters as we really value your opinion. As ever, you are the experts and we’d love to hear your feedback.”

The RRP for Aldi Mamia nappies are:

I have to say after continuing to use the pack I was sent I like them more and more. I'm definitely switching brands when my local Aldi opens. They're brilliant nappies.

lulabelleg · 29/03/2015 22:25

Q1 really liked them, my Dd often has leaks overnight but none in the last week when testing. Well fitting, I had 4+ for my 18m old who I have been using 5 in other brands for. Feel and look good quality and not bulky.
Q2 that is a good price, about 10p a nappy, however I do spend less than this often by bulk buying so wonder if Aldi plan to do offers?
Q3 would def recommend and I may make the effort to to the Aldi near my workplace to stock up.

Schumann · 30/03/2015 07:50

Q1. What was your overall impression of Aldi’s Mamia nappies? What, if anything, did you like and dislike about them?

Very good. Seem comfortable and no leaks.

Q2. The RRP for Aldi’s Mamia nappies are above, do you think that this is good value for money? Do you think you’d use them again?

Very good value and will definitely use them.

Q3. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Aldi’s Mamia nappies to friends and/or family with children using nappies? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes I would recommend. No point spending more money on something else when these do the job

wishiwasrunning · 30/03/2015 11:29

Q1. Yes I like these nappies although they are not as soft as Pampers, they feel a little stiffer. The absorbency is good though and they did not leak once!

Q2. I think they are excellent value for money.

Q3. I would recommend these nappies as they do exactly what they say they will just a little cheaper. You don't get the premium feel of pampers though. I will probably buy oboth in the future.

Timpani · 30/03/2015 11:48

Q1. What was your overall impression of Aldi’s Mamia nappies? What, if anything, did you like and dislike about them?
I really liked the nappies. They were thin and not bulky. The designs were great.

Q2. The RRP for Aldi’s Mamia nappies are above, do you think that this is good value for money? Do you think you’d use them again?
Yes, good value. I would definitely buy them again
Q3. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Aldi’s Mamia nappies to friends and/or family with children using nappies? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes I would definitely recommended them. Great value for money and just as good as pampers!

leanneth · 30/03/2015 12:07

We love these nappies!
They are not bulky or plasticky (quite soft and almost a fabric feeling overall), tabs are sturdy and sticky enough to be removed and replaced when required. I'm not overly keen on the pattern but that's just me! The main things are a good fit, feel soft and look comfy, hold everything in and these nappies do all of those things really well.
Love the price, even better when Aldi have the big boxes too.
I would, and have, brought these nappies up in conversation and have recommended them. Nappies are a vital part of bringing up babies and good quality nappies at a good price are rare. Some premium brands are ridiculously overpriced and I only ever bought them when they were on offer but then had to stock up and guess how many boxes I could buy before they'd need the next size up. None of that problem with these Aldi mamia nappies- good price all year round. Can't recommend them enough!

leanneth · 30/03/2015 12:10

Ps- thanks for choosing us for testing!

I really liked the design, looked good and not cheap.

Q2. The RRP for Aldi’s Mamia nappies are above, do you think that this is good value for money? Do you think you’d use them again?

Yes they are good value for money, and I would use them again.

I would, I thought they were great value for money and no leaks!

ThisFenceIsComfy · 30/03/2015 13:02

Q1. What was your overall impression of Aldi’s Mamia nappies? What, if anything, did you like and dislike about them?

They were great nappies. Kept my son's bum really dry and great for overnight. No nappy rash at all.

Q2. The RRP for Aldi’s Mamia nappies are above, do you think that this is good value for money? Do you think you’d use them again?

Great value for money. Beats any other own brand, I'd absolutely use them again.

Q3. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Aldi’s Mamia nappies to friends and/or family with children using nappies? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes I'd definitely recommend them

Thanks for including us in the survey. Very happy.

dianna79 · 30/03/2015 14:08

Q1. What was your overall impression of Aldi’s Mamia nappies? What, if anything, did you like and dislike about them?

they survived a vile stomach bug and chicken pox without leaks or nappy rash so love them.

Q2. The RRP for Aldi’s Mamia nappies are above, do you think that this is good value for money? Do you think you’d use them again?

will be switching to Aldi when the trail pack is finished.

Q3. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Aldi’s Mamia nappies to friends and/or family with children using nappies? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes for the reasons at q1

misdee · 30/03/2015 14:16

Q1. What was your overall impression of Aldi’s Mamia nappies? What, if anything, did you like and dislike about them?

They felt more plasticky than sainsburys nappies and the Velcro wasn't as stretchy.
My daughter liked the patterns. My son wasn't so keen. We did have a couple of overnight leaks with both children which was unusual.

Q2. The RRP for Aldi’s Mamia nappies are above, do you think that this is good value for money? Do you think you’d use them again?

I would probably buy them again if I was passing an Aldi. I do the majority of the shopping online so don't go into Aldi often.

Q3. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Aldi’s Mamia nappies to friends and/or family with children using nappies? If so, why? If not, why not?

For people wanting good value for money I would recommend them, however l would be more likely to recommend our usual supermarket brands just because I can get them delivered and it's more convenient for us as a family.

CheeseandGherkins · 30/03/2015 15:05

Q1. What was your overall impression of Aldi’s Mamia nappies? What, if anything, did you like and dislike about them?

I was pleased with the nappies, they were good but did smell a little chemically. Overall they were good though and a really good fit.

Q2. The RRP for Aldi’s Mamia nappies are above, do you think that this is good value for money? Do you think you’d use them again?

Yes good value for money. I also, mostly, shop online so unfortunately wouldn't be buying from a shop and the nearest is 10 miles away. If I were passing then I'd buy some, or if they sold online.

Q3. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Aldi’s Mamia nappies to friends and/or family with children using nappies? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes I would, as long as they were able to get to a shop. A lot of people just shop online these days so it just isn't very convenient.

Undertheboredwalk · 30/03/2015 15:44

Q1. What was your overall impression of Aldi’s Mamia nappies? What, if anything, did you like and dislike about them?

Good quality, very slim and compact which was great for carrying a load around in a bag.

Q2. The RRP for Aldi’s Mamia nappies are above, do you think that this is good value for money? Do you think you’d use them again?

I'll definitely use them again, much better value than other brands and better absorbency and fit for mine.

Q3. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Aldi’s Mamia nappies to friends and/or family with children using nappies? If so, why? If not, why not?

Definitely recommend, great price and better performing product than the other brands ice tried.

AnnoyedByAlfieBear · 30/03/2015 15:44

We had size 3.

Q1: They were less papery feeling than other supermarket brands, and I like the design. They are a good fit for 5mo dd.

Q2: I think they are good value and I would definitely buy them again, possibly making a special trip to Aldi for them.

Q3: I would definitely recommend them.

The aminal pictures on them meant that 2.7 yr old ds could get involved with the baby as we talked about what we could see.

  1. I found the nappies fit my 5 month old well and they are nice and soft (unlike Waitrose own brand!). They were mostly reliable although did leak wee once which I haven't really experienced with other brands. Also, when she does a large poo, it escapes out the back but this has happened with every brand we have tried.
  1. Great value for money. I haven't found any that are cheaper.
  1. Yes, I would recommend them. Overall, they represent the best value for money compared to other brands I have tried and they are equally reliable.
Jackie221084 · 30/03/2015 19:12

Q1. What was your overall impression of Aldi’s Mamia nappies? What, if anything, did you like and dislike about them?
Very good fit, no leakage

Q2. The RRP for Aldi’s Mamia nappies are above, do you think that this is good value for money? Do you think you’d use them again?
Very food value for money, will definitely be buying these in future

Q3. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Aldi’s Mamia nappies to friends and/or family with children using nappies? If so, why? If not, why not?
Definitely, mainly due to the price

OliviaRinHerts · 30/03/2015 20:24

hi

I am still to post my comments. my ds has had terrible nappies (and nappy rash) over the past week (possibly due to teething I think) so there has been some leakage but ANY nappy would have leaked (and others have)so I am waiting for the tummy upset to be over so I can really be fair when I compare. Very positive initial feedback though to be honest on the nappies. More to follow

LouisaJF · 30/03/2015 20:34

Q1. What was your overall impression of Aldi’s Mamia nappies? What, if anything, did you like and dislike about them?
A1. I am a regular user of Pampers. I have tried other supermarket brands and have found that they are not as soft as flexible. Whilst the Aldi nappies are not quite of the same quality as Pampers, they are the closest I have found and are the best own brand nappies I have tried.

Q2. The RRP for Aldi’s Mamia nappies are above, do you think that this is good value for money? Do you think you’d use them again?
A2. I think these are excellent value for money. They are at least half what I would usually pay for Pampers and on that basis I will be switching to Aldi nappies from now on.

Q3. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Aldi’s Mamia nappies to friends and/or family with children using nappies? If so, why? If not, why not?
A3. I would certainly recommend these nappies. They are good quality and great value for money.

TaperJeanGirl · 30/03/2015 23:37

Right, we have almost used up the pack now on dd4 ( 16 months)

Q1- my overall impressions isn't great! They have leaked almost every day, the back seems to puff up with wee making her walk really odd, they also weren't very successful with holding in poo eitherConfused I did like the designs on them, and the fact they are quite thin, and didn't cause nappy rash, I disliked the fact they leaked badly!

Q2 I think they are a very good price, but I wouldn't buy them again apart from in an emergency, as we had so many leaks with them..

Q3 I would no recommend the nappies to a friend ( unless I hated her Wink) as the leaks were just ridiculous, I had to take out 2 pairs of spare tights/leggings each time we used them during the day, and when she wore them at night her pjs ( and on one occasion her bedding!) was soaked, we very rarely have leaks with sainsburys own brand, so I'd stick with ( and recommend ) these in future.

EwelinaMay1979 · 31/03/2015 09:39

Hi! I highly recommend these nappies. They are good value for your money compare to others brands. They are even good for the night sleep for my baby daughter ( 3 months old ) , as she has started to sleep through whole night, without the leaks and wet clothes. :)

ckkj · 31/03/2015 11:41

Q1. What was your overall impression of Aldi’s Mamia nappies? What, if anything, did you like and dislike about them?

Overall impression is that they are good. I liked the design on them and that my son appears to be comfortable in them. My son rarely leaked in these.

Q2. The RRP for Aldi’s Mamia nappies are above, do you think that this is good value for money? Do you think you’d use them again?

These nappies are excellent value for money. I haven't used any other supermarket brands as I was worried about the quality of them but the Mamia nappies are great so we will definitely continue to use them as long as we need to.

Q3. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Aldi’s Mamia nappies to friends and/or family with children using nappies? If so, why? If not, why not?

I already have recommended these! They are excellent value for money and good quality nappies too so what is there not to like? Smile

I have added a picture of my son in one from when he decided he didn't want to wear his clothes and wanted to just wonder around in the nappy! Grin

hebrideanprincess · 31/03/2015 12:44

Overall impression was great, liked the animal design and thought the fit was fine. Thought the tabs could have been more secure. No leaks although a nappy did nearly come off due to the tabs not being so strong.

The price is very good, much cheaper than the Pampers we usually buy. I think I would buy them again as we are nearing the end of nappies (potty training).

Would recommend if it came up in conversation but wouldn't go out of my way otherwise.

Riri85 · 31/03/2015 14:31

Q1. What was your overall impression of Aldi’s Mamia nappies? What, if anything, did you like and dislike about them?
The nappies were lightweight and of good quality. The design was also different! I liked the fact they were so lightweight yet could hold a lot of moisture without becoming too 'fat'.

Q2. The RRP for Aldi’s Mamia nappies are above, do you think that this is good value for money? Do you think you’d use them again?
They are very good value for money and I would definitely use them again!

Q3. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Aldi’s Mamia nappies to friends and/or family with children using nappies? If so, why? If not, why not?
Would definitely recommend because they are as good as the leading brand and better value for money.
Thank you Mamia!
