They also recently picked up the Bounty Mums Love Gold Best Private Label Nappy award.

“Aldi’s Mamia range is committed to offering savvy mums the best quality nappies for their little ones.

I thought that the nappies where of good quality. It was smooth, wide and not cheap looking.
One of the problems I had with it was that my daughter had a leakage. This never happens with her. My biggest problem is that when am changing her I find that there is wee residue more that we usually have and this has made me decide to use it for daytime use from now on. She poos a lot during the day. Helps with not worrying about how much has been spent on them.
This makes the price good value for money.

I was told about these nappies at the baby group by another mum. She uses it the same way am going to. Day time use. For night time I will continue with what am already using. The reason we discussed was that the wee is not absorb properly. You can tell when changing the nappy. I believe this should be improved.

I know that she got the recommendation from the nanny in the local area.

I will be buying them.

weeonion · 24/03/2015 23:22

Received our size 3 nappies at the end of last week and wanted to give it a few days before feeding back.

Q1. What was your overall impression of Aldi’s Mamia nappies? What, if anything, did you like and dislike about them?

we really liked these - liked the design, liked the size and feel of them. They also managed to contain DD's poo explosions so far - no mean feat!

Q2. The RRP for Aldi’s Mamia nappies are above, do you think that this is good value for money? Do you think you’d use them again?

excellent value for money - in comparison to both branded and own brand nappies. I shop sometimes in Aldi and would definetely get these again when passing by - probably with a real stock up.

Q3. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Aldi’s Mamia nappies to friends and/or family with children using nappies? If so, why? If not, why not?
i will and have recommended them on the basis of quality and price.

SweetPeaPods · 25/03/2015 03:50

One thing I forgot to add was that I noticed there is a big price jump going from size 2 to 3. The size 3 have more nappies in than size 2 or 4 so that may be why but it would be nice to see them at the same price.

Nightfall1983 · 25/03/2015 09:15

Right, sorry for the delay - kept forgetting to put them on him at night which is when the biggest challenge is :)

Q1. What was your overall impression of Aldi’s Mamia nappies? What, if anything, did you like and dislike about them?
Fine, I didn't consider them to be massively different to other nappies (which is probably a good thing). Nice design, not as horrid looking at Asda nappies, similar to Pampers in many ways but prettier. However I don't actually are what they look like. The felt fine, not too plastic but still a basic disposable nappy. For some reason I slightly hate the name "Mamia" but that's really by-the-by and wouldn't stop me buying them.

Q2. The RRP for Aldi’s Mamia nappies are above, do you think that this is good value for money? Do you think you’d use them again?
Yes, excellent value for money. I generally buy Pampers from Costco which is a pretty good price but that RRP is generally better than I manage.

Q3. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Aldi’s Mamia nappies to friends and/or family with children using nappies? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes, definitely I would recommend they try them. TBH I recommend everyone tries all kinds of different brands as IME different nappies fit and suit different babies at different stages! However I would have no problem whole-heartedly recommending ALDI nappies.

As an extra I'd like to say that I am very impressed with the nappies, more than I expected to be. We use reusable nappies during the day, very occasionally using disposables if on holiday etc but have found that absolutely any nappy will do for during the day - change every 3-4 hrs and DS not prone to nappy rash. However at night it's more of a problem, have tried various nappies in the past (including ALDI but it was at a different age/size) and have found that ONLY Pampers keep him dry for 12-13 hrs at night - he's a big wee-er! Over the last month even the trusted Pampers have been failing 3 nights out of 4. I was not holding out much hope for the ALDI nappies however have now used them 3 nights running and he's been dry each night! Am very pleased and impressed and will be making a special trip to ALDI to buy more when this pack runs out (only use a night means a pack lasts a while) - there is no ALDI in our town but a leak-free night is worth a trip...

Q1. What was your overall impression of Aldi’s Mamia nappies? What, if anything, did you like and dislike about them?

Amazing quality and softness. Much better than Pampers! Don't dislike anything.

Q2. The RRP for Aldi’s Mamia nappies are above, do you think that this is good value for money? Do you think you’d use them again?

Very good value! I will buy them, definitely.

Q3. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Aldi’s Mamia nappies to friends and/or family with children using nappies? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes, I already have! Because they are of great quality and are a very reasonable price.

FreiasBathtub · 25/03/2015 09:35

Right. Gave them a good run and here are my thoughts.

  1. first impressions were good - streamlined, soft to the touch, easy to see how they were put on. We've been using them for a week or so and we have had a few small poo leaks, but get these in our usual Pampers as well. I do feel that they're less absorbent for poo than Pampers - DD had a bit of an upset tum and we tried her in both Pampers and Mamia, and I definitely felt she was sitting in the poo more with the Mamia nappies - they didn't draw it away from her skin IYSWIM. We also had a bit of nappy rash - again, have had this with Pampers but seemed a bit worse in Mamia.

2)the price is really good, yes.

  1. I probably wouldn't buy these again, for several reasons. Most important - no Aldi nearby, no car and no online delivery option. If they were easier to get hold of I would consider them, but would probably revert back to Pampers for upset tums etc. Would definitely recommend to a friend - got to be worth a punt at that price and think our problems were perhaps more about DD's upset tum than the quality of the nappies, so may be fine on other babies.
suburb4nmum · 25/03/2015 09:37

Q1. What was your overall impression of Aldi’s Mamia nappies? What, if anything, did you like and dislike about them?

A1. Overall impression is that they are very good value for money. They are nicely designed and the quality of them feel nicer than the Tesco/Sainsburys ones I am used to using. I would say they are inline with Pampers which I used alot with m first born!

There is nothing I dislike about them.

Q2. The RRP for Aldi’s Mamia nappies are above, do you think that this is good value for money? Do you think you’d use them again?

A2. Yes I think they are really good value for money and I will definitely be switching to use these as an Aldi has just recently opened near me!

Q3. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Aldi’s Mamia nappies to friends and/or family with children using nappies? If so, why? If not, why not?

A3. Would definitely recommend these nappies as overall they are better value and better quality than the Tesco/Sainsburys ones I have been using.

huhpuh · 25/03/2015 13:23
  1. There was nothing that I didn't like really. I used the size 5 on an active toddler and they stood the test well. A good fit, the pattern was fun. They were good day and night nappies - fitted and flexible enough to withstand toddling about plus they didn't look too bulky under her leggings. And at night they were very absorbent and lasted 12 hours plus without leaks.
  1. They are great value - cheaper than the other supermarket own brands I usually use but didn't look or smell cheap. I find some other own brands flimsy and gluey smelling!
  1. Yes I would recommend them - in fact a lot if the mums I know use them already and were very complimentary. I'm not that near an Aldi but now I know it's worth the detour to stock up on nappies - which I have done! I had another baby on Friday (20th) and she's got an Aldi bum now too and so far the size 1s are coping well with newborn explosions!
Northernexile · 25/03/2015 14:01
  1. I like the nappies, they don't feel cheap, although maybe not quite as soft or thin as Pampers. My elder daughter loved the design. They are sturdy and the fastening strips are good. Better than other 'value' brands. We had one small leak, but my daughter is still doing fairly liquid poos, and the mesh in the Pampers New Baby seems to be the only thing that will 100% contain a poonami.

  2. Very good value for money, much cheaper than Pampers, even when they are on offer.

  3. Yes, I would definitely recommend them, excellent value and good quality.

Sportysportacus · 25/03/2015 20:37

q1 I liked these. DD normally wears Pampers but these were a good alternative. I really liked the design and they fit well.

Q2 They are v good value for money given their quality.

Q3 Yes, I would recommend them but I don't know anyone who shops at Aldi as there isn't one round here! I think we'll continue to use Pampers as they are so easy to get hold of, even if they are more expensive.

OriginalHugsy · 25/03/2015 20:49

Q1. What was your overall impression of Aldi’s Mamia nappies? What, if anything, did you like and dislike about them?

Was a bit skeptical at first as I've never used them before and on first sight I thought they felt a bit harder and not very flexible but I was wrong as they fit my DD well and once on they seemed to be snug and comfortable.

Q2. The RRP for Aldi’s Mamia nappies are above, do you think that this is good value for money? Do you think you’d use them again?

Definitely a good reasonable price and I certainly would buy again if I was near an Aldi.

Q3. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Aldi’s Mamia nappies to friends and/or family with children using nappies? If so, why? If not, why not?

I would recommend as they do a great job, for less cost than the leading brand of nappies. It's as simple as that.

pinkangelita · 25/03/2015 20:54

Thanks for letting us try out these nappies!

  1. really liked the design on the nappies. They felt slim and soft and were very absorbent.

  2. I think they are excellent value for money and would happily buy them again

3)I would happily recommend these nappies to anyone.

madeitup · 25/03/2015 21:14

Q1. I liked the design. I thought the fit was generous compared with other supermarket brands. The tabs were good quality and fastened and re-fastened securely. I really liked and would buy them again. No leaks.

Q2. Yes the price is great. Works out at under 8p a nappy and I like to try to pay less than 12p without compromising on comfort for the baby if possible.

Q3. Yes I would recommend, no problem.

Thanks!

Lisad1975 · 25/03/2015 21:47

Q1. They sre brilliant! Soft and easy to put on. Sticky tabs are great. Design is sweet and the stars that disappear are fab!
Nothing to dislike . Love the price.
Q2. Fab price and have already brought more! I am converted now!
Q3. Will recommend them to friends . I laugh now at the premium brands ! They are a great price for the same product!

dragonflydreaming · 26/03/2015 00:28

Q1. What was your overall impression of Aldi’s Mamia nappies? What, if anything, did you like and dislike about them?

Was skeptical initially - thought they looked a bit bulky and shapeless at first glance, but once on they were ace. Consistently out-performed pampers, asda and tesco disposables, with only two leaks in a week (however both were post-jab poonamis!) No chemical smell and dealt very well with breastfed newborn poo. Wasn't too impressed with the wetness indicator though.

Q2. The RRP for Aldi’s Mamia nappies are above, do you think that this is good value for money? Do you think you’d use them again?

Good value for money. If I lived nearer an Aldi and wasn't planning to use washables, I would probably use them again.

Q3. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Aldi’s Mamia nappies to friends and/or family with children using nappies? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes, and I have done.

Emmie10 · 26/03/2015 00:54
  1. I really like them. They are a great fit for my daughter and very absorbent. We have had no leaks whilst using them. The design is nice. They feel soft and not too bulky. The sticky tabs are strong.
  2. They are excellent value for money. I found them as good as, if not better, than the big brands and yet they are much cheaper.
  3. I would definitely recommend these nappies to other mums.
As an extra, it would be very useful if there was a quick way to tell the nappy sizes apart in a quick glance. The number showing the size is quite faint and with two children in different sized nappies, it is a little niggle of mine. I think different coloured waistbands would be a simple solution!
mamainamess · 26/03/2015 06:19

Hello
Tried out the 5plus size:

Q1. What was your overall impression of Aldis Mamia nappies? What, if anything, did you like and dislike about them?

DD;iled the patterns. felt quite lightweght so was not sure if they would be good enough. But tried them day and night and they are great! DDs bottom was dry and no leakages. Nappy seemed to absorb all the wee. Side tabs were ample big enough to avoid gaps around the thigh area. Usually use pampers but these seemed even better

Q2. The RRP for Aldis Mamia nappies are above, do you think that this is good value for money? Do you think youd use them again?
Yes good enough price. would definately use them again.

Q3. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Aldis Mamia nappies to friends and/or family with children using nappies? If so, why? If not, why not?

Would surely mention them and recommend.
Main reasons are goodvalue for money and even more importantly, for a bigger child like my DD they kept her dry day and night. Even when I changed her in the morning it was as if she could have lasted a few more hours in them

Thank you

cuddles159 · 26/03/2015 08:25

I've just had the nappies delivered. I have used a number of the nappies and really like them. I think they are good value, the only thing I would like to see added is a stretchy bit at the back of nappy. I would recommend these nappies to friends.

I haven't received the email with the link to the survey though :(

JC74 · 26/03/2015 09:15

Q1. What was your overall impression of Aldi’s Mamia nappies? What, if anything, did you like and dislike about them?

I was impressed with the nappies, I usually use Pampers and these nappies were as good if not better. The outer feels very different to pampers and I wondered if they would cause nappy rash as it seemed a little plasticky. After using them for a week they have been great. No leaks, no nappy rash and they last all night which is important to me as my child sleeps for approx. 12 hours on a good night.

Q2. The RRP for Aldi’s Mamia nappies are above, do you think that this is good value for money? Do you think you’d use them again?

I think that they are fantastic value for money and will definitely buy them again. Just wish I'd discovered them sooner!

Q3. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Aldi’s Mamia nappies to friends and/or family with children using nappies? If so, why? If not, why not?
I would recommend these nappies as they are great quality and excellent value for money.

SweetPeaPods · 26/03/2015 09:27

Should I have received an email about a survey?

DinosaursStillExist · 26/03/2015 12:29
  1. Initially I didn't like the feeling of the nappy but having used it now I like that it's not as bulky as the brand we usually use and it hasn't led to any leakages or accidents so I'm actually impressed as we usually use a premium brand.
  1. At that RRP I'd be hard pushed to find a reason not to buy these in future. Would most definitely buy again.
  1. Definitely, in fact I've already told other mums at baby groups how impressed I've been.
MammyStardust · 26/03/2015 14:57

Q1. What was your overall impression of Aldi’s Mamia nappies? What, if anything, did you like and dislike about them?

Initially I have to admit to not liking the feel to the nappies, but overall didn't think them too different to our current premium brand. My partner commented that she thought the seemed thinner, and that she wasn't sure whether that was a good or bad thing...
They have held up remarkably well though! Our daughter is currently weaning, and regularly like to drop some impressive Poo-nami style nappies. Normally this means at least one outfit change a day, but the Aldi nappies only gave in once this week! Overnight though they do seem to be contributing to some nappy rash, but this may just be Little Star's sensitive botty.

Q2. The RRP for Aldi’s Mamia nappies are above, do you think that this is good value for money? Do you think you’d use them again?

Aldi's nappies turn out to cost roughly 4/5p per nappy cheaper than our current brand, so yes, good value for money considering the results BUT I am definitely going to reserve judgment until I've finished this pack and maybe another full pack. If the going is still good, I'll be an enthusiastic convert!

Q3. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Aldi’s Mamia nappies to friends and/or family with children using nappies? If so, why? If not, why not?

I already have! Have given all the above information to my sister-in-law, "mums and toddlers" friends, Cousin, random woman in the supermarket...

HollyBen · 26/03/2015 15:22

Q1. What was your overall impression of Aldi’s Mamia nappies? What, if anything, did you like and dislike about them?
I have heard lots of good things about these nappies so was expecting great things from them. I liked the design and the fact they don't have the odd smell some others have (esp Pampers). However, we had lots of leaks both pee and poo.

Q2. The RRP for Aldi’s Mamia nappies are above, do you think that this is good value for money? Do you think you’d use them again?
Compared to other nappies these are excellent value for money. However given the leaks we had I will not be buying again.

Q3. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Aldi’s Mamia nappies to friends and/or family with children using nappies? If so, why? If not, why not?
I would not recommend on the basis of the leaks we had when using

RedandYellowandPink · 26/03/2015 21:40

Q1. What was your overall impression of Aldi’s Mamia nappies? What, if anything, did you like and dislike about them?

They were impressive - soft and substantial. Bright pattern.

Q2. The RRP for Aldi’s Mamia nappies are above, do you think that this is good value for money? Do you think you’d use them again?

Yes, I think we would. We normally use Asda ones and I thought these seemed very similar, just a bit cheaper.

Q3. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Aldi’s Mamia nappies to friends and/or family with children using nappies? If so, why? If not, why not?

I definitely would! Cheap, cheerful and effective.

TeaandHobnobs · 26/03/2015 21:45

We've been testing size 1 nappies with 1 week old DD.

Q1. What was your overall impression of Aldi’s Mamia nappies? What, if anything, did you like and dislike about them?
They seem quite sturdy (not flimsy) and the fit is pretty good. I thought they were maybe gaping a little round the legs, but that doesn't seem to have caused a problem. The packaging suggests they have a shaped front for the cord stump, but in practice that doesn't seem to be the case - the front appears to go straight across with no dip. I also couldn't see the stars having changed colour as a wetness indicator. However they have performed pretty well - we have had a few leaks, but I couldn't say whether another brand of nappy would have contained them successfully.

Q2. The RRP for Aldi’s Mamia nappies are above, do you think that this is good value for money? Do you think you’d use them again?
I think they are really good value for money, and I would use them again. I got into the habit of buying pampers for my older child, mainly because I usually shop at other supermarkets, but I would happily try the Mamia nappies for longer. We don't have an Aldi that near us, so it would have to be a special trip in order to stock up.

Q3. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Aldi’s Mamia nappies to friends and/or family with children using nappies? If so, why? If not, why not?
I would definitely suggest people try them as a better value alternative to the major brands.
