This thread is for the 250 Mumsnetters who tested Aldi’s Mamia nappies with their DCs.

Here’s what Aldi say, “Aldi’s Mamia nappies are fast becoming one of the UK’s favourite choice for babies from newborns to toddlers. The Ultra Dry Range scooped Gold at the Mother & Baby Awards for the second year running and has also been successful at the Lovedbyparents Awards, scooping Golds for the Size 3 Mamia Ultra Dry Midi Nappies and Size 4+ Mamia Ultra Dry Maxi+ Nappies. They also recently picked up the Bounty Mums Love Gold Best Private Label Nappy award.

“Aldi’s Mamia range is committed to offering savvy mums the best quality nappies for their little ones.

“As the range has been so successful in awards, we thought we’d put them to the test with Mumsnetters as we really value your opinion. As ever, you are the experts and we’d love to hear your feedback.”

The RRP for Aldi Mamia nappies are:
Size 1: 2-5kg/4-11lbs £1.49 (24 pack)
Size 2: 3-6kg/6-13lb £2.99 (44 pack)

Size 5: 11-25kg/24-55lbs £4.39 (40 pack)
Size 5+: 13-27kg/29.60lbs £3.99 (36 pack)
Size 6: 15+kg/33+lbs £3.49 (30 pack)

Q1. What was your overall impression of Aldi’s Mamia nappies? What, if anything, did you like and dislike about them?

Have found them fantastic. No issues with leaking.

Q2. The RRP for Aldi’s Mamia nappies are above, do you think that this is good value for money? Do you think you’d use them again?

good value but not much cheaper than other supermarket own brands. Normally buy asda own brand that are 2 packs for £10.

Q3. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Aldi’s Mamia nappies to friends and/or family with children using nappies? If so, why? If not, why not?

yes I would recommend and have already done so to my SIL who is expecting her first baby soon.

LondonSuperTrooper · 06/04/2015 05:36
  1. I liked the look of the nappy and it's much lighter than pampers.

2 Fab price- will definitely buy!

  1. Yes I'd recommend to friends. In fact, I've already done so.
Wilberforce2 · 07/04/2015 14:23

Absolutely loved these nappies and have already visited Aldi to buy some!

Q1. What was your overall impression of Aldi’s Mamia nappies? What, if anything, did you like and dislike about them?

I loved them, they were nice and thin without comprising on protection.

Q2. The RRP for Aldi’s Mamia nappies are above, do you think that this is good value for money? Do you think you’d use them again?

Excellent value for money, I have been using Kiddicare but will definitely be swapping now.

Q3. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Aldi’s Mamia nappies to friends and/or family with children using nappies? If so, why? If not, why not?

Already have!

  1. The nappies were good and we had no leaks.
  2. Definitely good value and would buy them.
  3. Yes will recommend to friends for sure.

Our nappies only arrived a couple of days ago, but as someone who normally only uses Pampers, I've been really impressed so far! So, to answer the questions:

Q1. What was your overall impression of Aldi’s Mamia nappies? What, if anything, did you like and dislike about them?
I like the fact they look thin. Most supermarket own brands seem thick and bulky. In fact I compared them with my usual Pampers nappies, and they seemed identical in size and thickness. Also like the pictures on them!

Q2. The RRP for Aldi’s Mamia nappies are above, do you think that this is good value for money? Do you think you’d use them again?
Yes, seems v good value for money. I try to buy nappies on offer, and aim to spend around 10p per nappy. This fits my criteria easily!
Q3. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Aldi’s Mamia nappies to friends and/or family with children using nappies? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes, have been impressed so far, so they seem very good value for money.

  1. I really like the nappies. They're soft and don't generally leak. I don't think they're really absorbent enough for night time but great for daytime.
  1. The price seems great - very affordable.
  1. Yes I would recommend but would also mention the night time issue.
UsernamesSoHardToChoose · 09/04/2015 21:51

I only tried size 5 for daytime. Ds usually wears a 5+ at night so can't comment on overnight use but had no probs in the day.

Overall I was impressed, nicely decorated, they didn't smell. The only thing I disliked was they were a little bulky, similar to pampers baby dry and I like a pampers active-fit as a little less bulky

Yes it's good value however as I do online shopping at asda I usually bulk buy pampers when on offer.
Aldi nappies aren't cheap enough compared to offers at asda to make a special journey to aldi, with my two pre-school dcs wreaking havoc, worthwhile!
If I was going to aldi anyway and had run out of nappies then would buy them.
Ultimately home delivery out weighs going to the store...

Yes. Good product and price - perfect for someone who finds shopping at aldi easy!

Q1. Love, love, love Aldi’s Mamia nappies! Great animal design, secure fit, not too thick and fantastic price. There was nothing negative I could find about the nappies - they saw us through 12 hours of my DD having diarrhoea and performed as good as (if not better) than the leading brands.

Q2. The RRP is certainly comparable to other supermarket brand nappies. It's around what I would expect to pay so can't complain. I'd definitely buy these nappies again based on quality and price alone.

Q3. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Aldi nappies to family/friends. Since my DD was born we've tried pretty much every brand of nappy on the market! Some I wouldn't touch again if you paid me (Sainsbury's!) and others are just too darn expensive to warrant actually using them (I may as well just burn a pile of money!) Aldi's seem to have got it right - fab nappy, great price. Well done Aldi!

gemcup · 17/04/2015 10:44
  1. Absolutely loved them! They are a great fit and had far, far fewer leaks compared to leading brands. They are not quite as pretty in design as other brands, honestly this would not come into my decision making process though!
  1. The retail price is fantastic and these are now the only nappies I would use, and I have tried every end of the price scale.
  1. I have already started recommending these nappies to my friends as their babies are similar in age and going through 'teething nappies!' Aldi nappies have saved me so much in stain remover!

Q1. What was your overall impression of Aldi’s Mamia nappies? What, if anything, did you like and dislike about them?

Very impressed. I usually use pampers or tesco nappies, these are as good, not bulky and don't have a chemical smell like Pampers.
The only problem is the tab id not quite as strong.

Q2. The RRP for Aldi’s Mamia nappies are above, do you think that this is good value for money? Do you think you’d use them again?

Yes. Good value.

Q3. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Aldi’s Mamia nappies to friends and/or family with children using nappies? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes I would recommend them to friends. Cheap + good quality.

MotherOfCats · 27/04/2015 14:18
  1. Really liked them. Good fit, absorbent and soft on skin. Liked the distinction between front and back, helped to avoid mistakes.
  2. Very good value for money. Comparable to branded at a value price. Would definitely use again.
  3. Would absolutely recommend and have done so already!
