This is the feedback thread for the lights by TENA product test.

lights by TENA say "there are four products in the lights by TENA range. They’re all specially designed for Oooops moments. They absorb faster than ordinary liners, keeping you feeling drier and fresher. They all have specially designed odour-control. But they do differ in size and profile."

Testers - please share on this thread your responses to the following questions and please also add your feedback on survey form link which we emailed to you.

Q1 - please give us some background on you and urine leakage - how old are you, how long have you experienced this and is it linked to a specific event eg pregnancy?
Q2 – what about the product itself - was it easy to use? What improvements would you like to see?
Q3 - how do lights by TENA compare to your usual product or to your sanitary-wear?
Q4 – Have you used other products for bladder weakness? If so what and how did lights by TENA compare?
Q5 - the RRP of Lights by Tena is £1.99 for 28 liners - do you think this is good value for money or not?
Q6 - would you buy lights by TENA in the future and would you recommend them to someone else who was suffering from urine leakage?

Every tester who adds their feedback on this thread and who completes the survey form will be entered into a prize draw where one winner will get a £150 voucher for the store of their choice.

Please note, your anon comments may be used by lights by TENA on their website, social media and possibly elsewhere. Please only add a comment if you're happy for it to be used.

thanks and good luck!

please give us some background on you and urine leakage - how old are you, how long have you experienced this and is it linked to a specific event eg pregnancy?
I am 39 years old and have had 2 children. I noticed a different in being able to hold it during my first pregnancy and its got worse ever since. I did not have a problem with holding my uring prior to pregnancy. Now if I cough, sneeze, jump about etc I am prone to leaking!
Q2 what about the product itself - was it easy to use? What improvements would you like to see? Product was great, just like a panty liner but thicker
Q3 - how do lights by TENA compare to your usual product or to your sanitary-wear? Smaller in length and a bit thicker, plus they move around a bit more.

Q4 Have you used other products for bladder weakness? If so what and how did lights by TENA compare? No
Q5 - the RRP of Lights by Tena is 1.99 for 28 liners - do you think this is good value for money or not? Excellent value for money.

Q6 - would you buy lights by TENA in the future and would you recommend them to someone else who was suffering from urine leakage?
Yes I would buy and recommend

mummyplusbump · 16/12/2014 13:37

Q1 - I have a 2.5 year old who was a large baby and I am also pregnant with my second child. I have been having bladder weakness since being pregnant with my first child. At the moment I have a cold and cough which makes the problem very frustrating.

Q2 – Yes they were very easy to use. I find them great for everyday wear as they are more effective than a normal pantyliner but they are not noticeable when in use and are very comfortable. I would not change anything about the design.

Q3 - I had been using normal pantyliner and Tena are much better due to their higher absorbency and ability to reduce smell.

Q4 – I have used the Tena Mini which are thicker and were useful when I had a lot of leakage due to a persistent cough. These were especially handy at night.

Q5 - I think this is very good value for money.

Q6 - Yes I would recommend them and would buy them again as they are very comfortable and effective.

mummyplusbump · 16/12/2014 13:39

Forgot to add i'm 38!

sharond101 · 16/12/2014 13:40

Q1 - please give us some background on you and urine leakage - how old are you, how long have you experienced this and is it linked to a specific event eg pregnancy? I am pregnant and this is impacting on my urine leakage.
Q2 – what about the product itself - was it easy to use? What improvements would you like to see? It is very easy to use and is comfortable to wear. It is a little large for my underwear and I would suggest maybe making different shapes or there is a brand of panty liners which have a more flexible shape to them making them fit easier into different shapes of underwear.
Q3 - how do lights by TENA compare to your usual product or to your sanitary-wear? They are light and comfortable similar, even more light, than a pantyliner.
Q4 – Have you used other products for bladder weakness? If so what and how did lights by TENA compare? I have not used specific products for urine leakage, just pantyliners.
Q5 - the RRP of Lights by Tena is £1.99 for 28 liners - do you think this is good value for money or not? Some pantylilners can be bought for around 99p for the same size so maybe not great value but they are effective.
Q6 - would you buy lights by TENA in the future and would you recommend them to someone else who was suffering from urine leakage? I would recommend them and would buy them if I saw them on promotion.

marymanc · 16/12/2014 13:42

I am 39 years old and a mum of two, after the second pregnancy I started experiencing those embarrassing accidents when sneezing, coughing and not being able anymore to hold it for very long. Things have continuous for 5 years and now even though I keep doing my exercises I keep experiencing those little accidents.

At first I thought that lights from Tena were a bit too thick compared to the Always discreet I usually wear (too thin for sure). However I found them very good, they absorb well and cover the smell.

I think they are a bit pricey for £1.99 for 28 but they are very effective so I think I would buy them, more if on special offer. I would definitely recommend them to my family and friends who experience the same problem.

claracluck1978 · 16/12/2014 13:44

Q1 - please give us some background on you and urine leakage - how old are you, how long have you experienced this and is it linked to a specific event eg pregnancy? 35 & have only experienced minor problems since pregnancy last year.
Q2 – what about the product itself - was it easy to use? What improvements would you like to see? Produce discreet and very easy to use. Seems higher level of absorbency than usual liner
Q3 - how do lights by TENA compare to your usual product or to your sanitary-wear? As mentioned, seem to have a higher absorbency yet this does not make them more noticeable
Q4 – Have you used other products for bladder weakness? If so what and how did lights by TENA compare? Boots panty liners
Q5 - the RRP of Lights by Tena is £1.99 for 28 liners - do you think this is good value for money or not? Based on the sample I've used I think they are good value for money
Q6 - would you buy lights by TENA in the future and would you recommend them to someone else who was suffering from urine leakage? I will certainly be buying again. I would recommend them if the conversation arose
Thank you for the sample

Q1 :I'm 40 years old and started suffering from bladder weakness over 20 years ago after the birth of my 1st child. Three years ago I had an ovary removed which has made it even weaker.
Q2: The product was very easy to use , I found it ideal for every day wear but I'd only recommend it for light use.
Q3 : They compare much lighter and require changing at more regular intervals
Q4: I have used pantyliners which I find pretty much useless, the tena lights are much better in comparisons. Just after my operation I used tena pants and was surprised at how comfortable and discreet they were. Tena lights are perfect for my every day needs.
Q5: I think they're a bit on the expensive side compared to some of the other leading brands on the market.
Q6: I would purchase them but this would be if the price was cheaper or if they were part of a promotion. I'd have no problem recommending them because they definitely do what they say they're going to do.

Lillabet · 16/12/2014 13:54

Q1 - please give us some background on you and urine leakage - how old are you, how long have you experienced this and is it linked to a specific event eg pregnancy?

38 years old, experienced leakage since my second pregnancy, it started late in the pregnancy and was mostly occurring due to sneezing and coughing. It continued post partum and has improved with pelvic floor exercises. I'm expecting number 3 and even with regular pelvic floor exercises some leakage still occurs when sneezing or coughing with a full bladder.

Q2 – what about the product itself - was it easy to use? What improvements would you like to see?

The product is easy to use and discreet. It works well although the sticky strip doesn't adhere well to all fabrics. The little arrow on the strip showing which way to place the pad could be a little bigger.

Q3 - how do lights by TENA compare to your usual product or to your sanitary-wear?

Definitely more effective than sanitary wear which doesn't cope. Better absorbency than the supermarket own brand over used in the past although I've not noticed any difference in odour control (although I'd prefer not to have my underwear smell like a florists shop to try and combat this Wink).

Q4 – Have you used other products for bladder weakness? If so what and how did lights by TENA compare?
Yes, I've used supermarket own brand in the past and although they're reasonable they're not quite as effective as Tena.

Q5 - the RRP of Lights by Tena is £1.99 for 28 liners - do you think this is good value for money or not?
It's not bad but it could be better (£1.50 for 30?).

Q6 - would you buy lights by TENA in the future and would you recommend them to someone else who was suffering from urine leakage?
Yes, I'd buy them in the future in conjunction with regular pelvic floor exercises to help reduce the issue in the first place; this is how I'd recommend them too Grin

montiefletcher · 16/12/2014 14:07

Q1, age 44 had a slight problem for approx 9 years now, since the birth of my last child, only have a slight problem
Q2, product was okay but not great at sticking but absorbancy was good.
Q3 & Q4, too be honest they are very similar to the product I already buy and have the same effectiveness, and I do buy a budget supermarket brand and buy them very regularly they are better than leading brands.
Q5, more expensive, I would probably purchase if they were on offer BOGOF etc.
Q6, again would purchase if only on offer and I don't really recommend products, only if I was asked

mecazza · 16/12/2014 14:11

Q1 - please give us some background on you and urine leakage - how old are you, how long have you experienced this and is it linked to a specific event eg pregnancy?
Answer: I am 67 and am in remission from Multiply Sclerosis, I have weaknesses, sometimes my arms & legs, sometimes my eyesight but often my bladder. It is usually short term and variable level of leakage.
Q2 – what about the product itself - was it easy to use? What improvements would you like to see? **
Answer: lights by TENAQ 2 are very easy to use, slightly to heavyweight foir me at present, seemed thicker than my usual lightweight pantyliners, Superdrug's own usually, but have tried many makes, but they are comfortable to wear, don't smell and keep me dry so no improvements needed.
Q3 - how do lights by TENA compare to your usual product or to your sanitary-wear? *
Answer: I think that lights by TENA compare really well, I am impressed.
Q4 – Have you used other products for bladder weakness? If so what and how did lights by TENA compare?
Answer: I have used pantyliners of various makes for some years, some have been good, some awful but I feel you get what you pay for. I was surprised with how dry they kept me,no side leakage & no smell.
Q5 - the RRP of Lights by Tena is £1.99 for 28 liners - do you think this is good value for money or not?
Answer: As above you get what you pay for, well worth the price!
Q6 - would you buy lights by TENA in the future and would you recommend them to someone else who was suffering from urine leakage?
Answer: I would buy lights by TENA in the future, I think I would keep in various levels of lights for my varying needs at the time.

Tenausername · 16/12/2014 14:13

Q1 - please give us some background on you and urine leakage - how old are you, how long have you experienced this and is it linked to a specific event eg pregnancy?

  1. Always been a bit leaky, for example, if I sneezed in cold weather. Remember this as far back as my teens. Getting worse with age. Don't need a full bladder to have problems these days.

Q2 – what about the product itself - was it easy to use? What improvements would you like to see?

Really pleased with it - very comfortable. Sometimes, I've experienced 'chaffing' with the normal TENA I buy, but not so much with this one. Also the pad grips the gusset for deal life - a good thing. Barely aware of it there, and yes, much less odour.

Q3 - how do lights by TENA compare to your usual product or to your sanitary-wear?

Favourably. I would buy them again.

Q4 – Have you used other products for bladder weakness? If so what and how did lights by TENA compare?

Only TENA I'm afraid.

Q5 - the RRP of Lights by Tena is £1.99 for 28 liners - do you think this is good value for money or not?

Yes - affordable.

Q6 - would you buy lights by TENA in the future and would you recommend them to someone else who was suffering from urine leakage?

Yes I would buy in the future. I theoretically would recommend them to someone, however, I've never talked about wee leakage with anyone!

Becks100000 · 16/12/2014 14:14

Q1 - please give us some background on you and urine leakage - how old are you, how long have you experienced this and is it linked to a specific event eg pregnancy?

Aged 33, been experiencing slight weakness since 1st baby, had my 3rd baby 7 months ago.

Q2 – what about the product itself - was it easy to use? What improvements would you like to see?

product easy to use, might have been nice if they were individually packed (to keep in your handbag)

Q3 - how do lights by TENA compare to your usual product or to your sanitary-wear?

much more absorbant.

Q4 – Have you used other products for bladder weakness? If so what and how did lights by TENA compare?

I have used other products in the Tena range and have found them all helpful

Q5 - the RRP of Lights by Tena is £1.99 for 28 liners - do you think this is good value for money or not?

Yes this is a good price.

Q6 - would you buy lights by TENA in the future and would you recommend them to someone else who was suffering from urine leakage?

Yes I would buy again and recommend to other Mums/Mums to be

rubycon · 16/12/2014 14:14

Q1 - please give us some background on you and urine leakage - how old are you, how long have you experienced this and is it linked to a specific event eg pregnancy?
I started using them after my 6th baby - 27 years ago, I'm 61. It's never been a huge problem unless I gain weight, but I like the fresh feeling and protection liners give me.
Q2 – what about the product itself - was it easy to use? What improvements would you like to see?
Easy to use I don't think there's anything else to do to improve them.
Q3 - how do lights by TENA compare to your usual product or to your sanitary-wear?
They're larger than I normally buy, softer but bulkier.
Q4 – Have you used other products for bladder weakness? If so what and how did lights by TENA compare?
I've tried many types over the years and this compare on par with the good ones I've used.
Q5 - the RRP of Lights by Tena is £1.99 for 28 liners - do you think this is good value for money or not?
They're value for money, but rather expensive for me.
Q6 - would you buy lights by TENA in the future and would you recommend them to someone else who was suffering from urine leakage?
I'd definitely recommend them and perhaps keep a packet in for when I need extra protection.

Grockle · 16/12/2014 14:16

Should maybe have namechanged for this...

Q1 - I'm 36 and have had issues for about 9 yrs since DS was born. It gradually got worse & I have issues if I cough & can't hold it very long. Also, I don't get much warning & suddenly need to go RIGHT NOW.

Q2 – I liked the liners - comfy, secure and reassuring

Q3 - They're much better than normal liners.

Q4 – I haven't tried any other products (too embarassed)

Q5 - Not sure about value but it seems pretty good to me.

Q6 - Yes! I'd recommend them to others and would buy in the future.

funkyfreks · 16/12/2014 14:25

I am 33 I have 3 children and experienced issues for 4 years since the middle of my last pregnancy. It seems to have been brought on by SPD but not actually confirmed with a medical expert. I usually get small leakage on coughing and sneezing or jumping.

Q2 what about the product itself - was it easy to use? What improvements would you like to see? I Like the shape they fit well into my briefs, and the sticky back was strong enough to keep it in place while doing active tasks like housework. I think you could make them slightly scented just to add a little feminine touch.
Q4 Have you used other products for bladder weakness? If so what and how did lights by TENA compare? No, I just used normal sanitary wear for periods.
Q5 - the RRP of Lights by Tena is 1.99 for 28 liners - do you think this is good value for money or not? Great value for money.
Q6 - would you buy lights by TENA in the future and would you recommend them to someone else who was suffering from urine leakage?
Yes I would buy and recommend

PrettySnowyPictures · 16/12/2014 14:38

Q1 - please give us some background on you and urine leakage - how old are you, how long have you experienced this and is it linked to a specific event eg pregnancy?

I'm 22 years old (!) And I've had it since I was 19, I had a very difficult pregnancy and traumatic birth with my youngest in 2011 and since then no matter how much I do pelvic floor excercise etc I've never managed to get back to normal. Coughing, sneezing, laughing, running and even just having a slightly fuller bladder than normal are all problems.

Q2 – what about the product itself - was it easy to use? What improvements would you like to see?

It was incredibly easy and comfortable to use, though I'd like to see them a bit longer I'm size.

Q3 - how do lights by TENA compare to your usual product or to your sanitary-wear?

They're a lot thinner and a lot less 'noticeable' which made me feel a lot more comfortable and confident.

Q4 – Have you used other products for bladder weakness? If so what and how did lights by TENA compare?

Same as above really, most other products are bulkier/don't feel comfortable and Tena feels just like I'm wearing my underwear without any protection. That did make me wary and a bit nervous to start with but they've done a fantastic job.

Q5 - the RRP of Lights by Tena is £1.99 for 28 liners - do you think this is good value for money or not?

I think it's fantastic for the amount you get and for the quality. You can be paying up to £5 for 14 and they're not half as good quality.

Q6 - would you buy lights by TENA in the future and would you recommend them to someone else who was suffering from urine leakage?

I will definitely buy them in the future and if asked I probably would recommend them, I've felt a lot more confident wearing them!

ditzykat · 16/12/2014 15:17

Q1 - please give us some background on you and urine leakage - how old are you, how long have you experienced this and is it linked to a specific event eg pregnancy?

27, always had some problems but worse post pregnancy.

Q2 – what about the product itself - was it easy to use? What improvements would you like to see?

Easy to use, gives you confidence.

Q3 - how do lights by TENA compare to your usual product or to your sanitary-wear?

Fantastic. Super absorbent. Comfortable and you can move in them.

Q4 – Have you used other products for bladder weakness? If so what and how did lights by TENA compare?

I have, these are far better. Smaller but more absorbent. Don't crumple up from walking about etc.

Q5 - the RRP of Lights by Tena is £1.99 for 28 liners - do you think this is good value for money or not?

Great value!

Q6 - would you buy lights by TENA in the future and would you recommend them to someone else who was suffering from urine leakage?

I will be buying in future & recommend them.

Bonkerz · 16/12/2014 15:26

Q1 - please give us some background on you and urine leakage - how old are you, how long have you experienced this and is it linked to a specific event eg pregnancy?
36 years old and after 3 babies I struggle with bladder weakness!

Q2 – what about the product itself - was it easy to use? What improvements would you like to see?
Easy to use, strong adhesive strip that stuck good to pants.

Q3 - how do lights by TENA compare to your usual product or to your sanitary-wear?

I hate thick pads so use panty liners which are rubbish and generally fall off.

Q4 – Have you used other products for bladder weakness? If so what and how did lights by TENA compare?
Tried bigger tena ladies pads but felt horrid.

Q5 - the RRP of Lights by Tena is £1.99 for 28 liners - do you think this is good value for money or not?
Definately value for money. They are fab and absorbent so only changed once in day.

Q6 - would you buy lights by TENA in the future and would you recommend them to someone else who was suffering from urine leakage?
Yes to buying again and yes to recommending Infact it came up in conversation today!

daisydaisy75 · 16/12/2014 15:34

Q1. I have it quite often ( 8 to 10 times a day) since I had my first baby 9 years ago.
Q2. Tena- easy to use. Good shape and lenght. Also very effective. Quite soft and gentle on my skin.
Q3- most other brand are much worse. but Always are better: feel softer and fresher. and they have nicer scent.
Q4- i think 1.99 is fine considering they are all quite exprensive
Q5- no. always are much better for similar prize.

dstill1964 · 16/12/2014 15:50

Q1; im early 50s, had this problem for over 5 years and believe this is because im post menopausal and have a slight prolapse
Q2; Was easy to use and stick to underwear. Would have liked it more contoured to the underwear shape as stuck to my groin on occasion
Q3;More absorbent than usual but felt bulkier too
Q4; Price is excellent and very competitively priced
Q5; Yes I would purchase these but mainly for nightime wear unless a more contoured pad available for daytime wear

Msdj · 16/12/2014 15:57
  1. I am 45 years old. I have 5 children including a set of triplets. I have only recently noticed a problem with leakage which started with a sickness bug. But I also have two slipped discs in my lower back at the moment so not sure if the two are linked.
  1. The product was easy to use and a lot more absorbent than a normal panty liner I would use. It gave me a lot of protection and reassurance, yet didn't feel overly bulky
  1. Think I have just answered question 3 and 4 in my answer for question 2. Tena were a lot better than my usual sanitary panty liner. Previously I didn't feel safe that any accidents would be avoided but with Tena I had total trust in the brand.
  1. Yes I think the price reflects the brand. Most days I would only use one or two towels so I don't find it overly expensive for extra protection and peace of mind
  1. Would totally recommend to anyone in the same situation. General sanitary towels are not made for urine leakage whereas Tena are and they prove that with their products. They do what they say.
DreamingDiva13 · 16/12/2014 16:13

Q1 - I'm 32, and started with urine leakage during pregnancy of my 2nd child and has gotten worse since having her nearly 4 years ago. I've have Physio involvement for it and they maintain I just need to keep on with my pelvic floor exercises and it should correct itself...it's currently not I have difficulties when I cough, laugh, sneeze as well as if I wait too long in between going.

Q2 – It looks and felt just like a thicker panty liner, easy to use and stayed in place.

Q3 - Much better, usual ones are too thin or too thick (if I opt for sanitary pads). These were really good and the right thickness.

Q4 – Always everyday liner which I found too thin. I really like tena ones.

Q5 - That's really good value!

Q6 - Yes I would do both definitely.

Adizzylass2014 · 16/12/2014 16:48

I'm 34 and suffer from fibromyalgia and disc degeneration.
I've suffered with bladder weakness for about a year, do pelvic floor exercises but it doesn't help.
The tena's are fab and easy to use and very absorbant.
Much better than an ordinary panty liner.
The price is very good and I would definitely buy them and recommend them to friends with similar issues.
Great brand and great liner, gives me complete peace of mind that I won't suffer any embarrassing moments.

HenriettaTurkey · 16/12/2014 17:03

Q1 - please give us some background on you and urine leakage - how old are you, how long have you experienced this and is it linked to a specific event eg pregnancy?

I am 37 years old and pregnant with second child. Have had some slight bladder weakness since birth of DC1 e.g. when sneezing etc. This has increased with second pregnancy (currently 8 months pregnant)

Q2 – what about the product itself - was it easy to use? What improvements would you like to see?

Easy to use - but the front/back instructions are on the strip; not the product itself. This means that if you pull the strip off without checking you could easily end up wearing it backwards.

Q3 - how do lights by TENA compare to your usual product or to your sanitary-wear?

Usually wear regular panty liners. These are a better size, nice and thin, and seem absorbant.

Q4 – Have you used other products for bladder weakness? If so what and how did lights by TENA compare?

Not specifically - just regular pads.

Q5 - the RRP of Lights by Tena is £1.99 for 28 liners - do you think this is good value for money or not?

Yes - it seems about right.

Q6 - would you buy lights by TENA in the future and would you recommend them to someone else who was suffering from urine leakage?

They are comfortable, I have not reacted with them as I do with cheaper pads, and they do their job well. Yes, I would recommend them.
