This is the feedback thread for the lights by TENA product test.

lights by TENA say "there are four products in the lights by TENA range. They’re all specially designed for Oooops moments. They absorb faster than ordinary liners, keeping you feeling drier and fresher. They all have specially designed odour-control. But they do differ in size and profile."

Testers - please share on this thread your responses to the following questions and please also add your feedback on survey form link which we emailed to you.

Q1 - please give us some background on you and urine leakage - how old are you, how long have you experienced this and is it linked to a specific event eg pregnancy?
Q2 – what about the product itself - was it easy to use? What improvements would you like to see?
Q3 - how do lights by TENA compare to your usual product or to your sanitary-wear?
Q4 – Have you used other products for bladder weakness? If so what and how did lights by TENA compare?
Q5 - the RRP of Lights by Tena is £1.99 for 28 liners - do you think this is good value for money or not?
Q6 - would you buy lights by TENA in the future and would you recommend them to someone else who was suffering from urine leakage?

Every tester who adds their feedback on this thread and who completes the survey form will be entered into a prize draw where one winner will get a £150 voucher for the store of their choice.

Please note, your anon comments may be used by lights by TENA on their website, social media and possibly elsewhere. Please only add a comment if you're happy for it to be used.

thanks and good luck!

I am 34 hearts old, been having problemen with leakage since my first pregnancy..
Tena's very easy to use and the product was great.
Had been using normal panty liners but these are more absorbent and confortable. Reassured when using these.
I would definately purchase as privé is excellent and have alreeds recommended to family.

ti · 19/12/2014 20:52

Q1. These arrived just at the right time. I'm 45, perimenopausal, can only do about 3 pelvic floor exercises let alone sets of 10 and had just started with a cough!! To sum up I knew I was in need of moving of from my usual panty liner in favour of something that stopped me feeling like a premature little old lady with damp knickers.

Q.2. Easy to use, effective adhesive. Felt a little more bulky than usual and slightly too long and wide but nothing that a tighter pair of knickers doesn't solve and I am quite petite.

Q.3. These are much better for me than a usual flimsy panty liner.

Q.4. Only used liners but felt more reassured and confident wearing these.

Q.5. Good value for money

Q.6. Whilst I'm loath to disclose to anyone beyond a joking way about my bladder weakness and leakage if the subject came up I would certainly assure someone that this product is suitable for someone who needs some daily protection.

Q1 - please give us some background on you and urine leakage - how old are you, how long have you experienced this and is it linked to a specific event eg pregnancy?

I'm 28, para 2 and have experienced urine leakage since my second pregnancy (he's nearly 3). Turns out i have a severe rectocele and mild cystocele, which is causing it. Ironically, my gynae said my pelvic floor itself was like iron Grin

Q2 – what about the product itself - was it easy to use? What improvements would you like to see?

very easy to use. Love that it has a front/back label, unlike competitors. Wish we had trialled the long-length version, as due to the rectocele i have issues with leakage there too Blush

Q3 - how do lights by TENA compare to your usual product or to your sanitary-wear?

fantastic. As i said, the longer version would be better, i use the long length always version atm as it covers both 'possibilities', but i would use the tena equivalent. I only recently swapped from using sanitary pads, and have definitely noticed a huge improvement by using incontinence products

Q4 – Have you used other products for bladder weakness? If so what and how did lights by TENA compare?

as above, i use always' version as they happened to be on offer when i first bought, but tena are definitely equal to them. My choice depends on price though, as i am disabled and on esa

Q5 - the RRP of Lights by Tena is £1.99 for 28 liners - do you think this is good value for money or not?

it is slightly higher than the always version. They are equally useful, so my choice is down to cost alone

Q6 - would you buy lights by TENA in the future and would you recommend them to someone else who was suffering from urine leakage?

yes, i would buy and recommend them, so long as they were cheapest at the time

LordJabuJabu · 20/12/2014 09:58

Q1 - had a baby two weeks ago & have a cough, so everything is a bit weak ATM! Normally have pelvic floor of steel
Q2 – I like how thin the pads are.
Q3 - I usually use cloth products so find them so much more comfortable but not as good at soaking up wee as this product.
Q4 – no
Q5 - under £2 isn't too bad for almost a full months supply (assuming one pad a day), however id probably only consider them when on offer (due to me using cloth sanspro, anything disposable sounds expensive!)
Q6 - I would consider buying this product again if my weakness/cough persist. I would mention this product to family members/friends.

BeyondTheTreelights · 20/12/2014 10:06

Can i just add to Q2... Individual wrapping would have been better, in case you need to change whilst out.

monkeyplastic · 20/12/2014 11:03

Question 1. I am 39 and have had three children, all were larger babies and my bladder has not been the same since. I have occasional leakage but enough to feel paranoid about it!
Q2. Product very easy to use but I thought the packaging could be more discrete
Q3. Slightly thicker than a normal pantyliner but overall quality is good
Q4. Normally use pantyliners
Q5. The price is averae
Q6. As I only have slight leakage I think normal pantyliners which are cheaper and more discrete suits my needs better. However, if I had more leakage I would use tena as it provides more protection.

missorinoco · 20/12/2014 13:05

Q1 - please give us some background on you and urine leakage - how old are you, how long have you experienced this and is it linked to a specific event eg pregnancy?

Late 30's, I have had stress incontinence since my first child was born several years ago - prolonged labour, and worsened by two further deliveries.
Q2 – what about the product itself - was it easy to use? What improvements would you like to see?
Easy to use, I found it comforable and liked the length.

Q3 - how do lights by TENA compare to your usual product or to your sanitary-wear?
I found these more comfortable. I tend to use them for cardiovascular exercise, and these stayed adherent well.

Q4 – Have you used other products for bladder weakness? If so what and how did lights by TENA compare?
Can't remember, most recently Always, comparable in absorbancy and more comfortable.
Q5 - the RRP of Lights by Tena is £1.99 for 28 liners - do you think this is good value for money or not?

Yes
Q6 - would you buy lights by TENA in the future and would you recommend them to someone else who was suffering from urine leakage?
Yes

Testing321 · 20/12/2014 16:45

Q1- 40, experienced bladder weakness since having DD 2 years ago. Mostly when I have a cough.
Q2- easy to use.
Q3- like a liner but thicker.
Q4- no.
Q5- it's okay.
Q6- might buy them, but would probably be too embarrassed to recommend.

Roseformeplease · 20/12/2014 19:16
  1. 46 and have had 2 children but it has got worse very recently. Before, it was just trampolines but now it is often when I cough / sneeze or if I drink too much coffee.
  1. It looks and feels great. You don't notice it is there.
  1. Better. Good and sticky so stays in place.
  1. Used Always but they are a weird shape and uncomfortable.
  1. Yes, reasonably priced.
  1. Yes. Will buy and recommend although it is not something aI talk about often.

Thanks so much for the chance of a trial. I have been busy, stressed and drinking too much coffee. They have been a godsend.

Comingfoccacia · 20/12/2014 22:54

Q1: 45 it has got worse within past year. Think associated with two births within 11 months ( first ds died aged 6 days then had dts - both pregnancies were big) and weight loss. I am peri menopausal and have a slight prolapse, i have been referred to physio.
Q2: really easy to use, can hardly feel it
Q3: find this product more comfy and just as effective
Q4: have used larger, bulkier pads out of necessity rather than choice.
Q5: product is really well priced
q6: will def buy and recommend. Happy tbere us a product on the markst which suits me better.

IneedAwittierNickname · 20/12/2014 23:11

please give us some background on you and urine leakage - how old are you, how long have you experienced this and is it linked to a specific event eg pregnancy?
I am 30 years old and a mum of two. After the birth of my 2nd child I had very very slight urine leakage when I had a coughing or laughing fit. However a massive weight increase over the last few years (Sad) has made this much worse. Especially when I am due on Confused Although I still don't suffer with it every day. But the leaks I have are 'larger' than the ones I used to have.

what about the product itself - was it easy to use? What improvements would you like to see? They are very easy to use. The only improvement would be if they were individually wrapped (although I see these are available). They seem very slim and narrow but I'm used to using heavy duty sanitary towels with wings. The lack of which took a bit of getting used to. I was a little wary to start that they would fall out.

how do lights by TENA compare to your usual product or to your sanitary-wear? I don't have a 'usual product' and just stick a sanitary towel in when I need to. However the tena lady are much better. Slimmer and softer. Sanitary towels often make me sore.

Have you used other products for bladder weakness? If so what and how did lights by TENA compare? I've never used products designed for incontinence before but normally use a sanitary towel if need it. Tena lady are much better than this!

the RRP of Lights by Tena is £1.99 for 28 liners - do you think this is good value for money or not? Yes.

would you buy lights by TENA in the future and would you recommend them to someone else who was suffering from urine leakage? Yes.

elfinmyst · 21/12/2014 01:34

I have leakage since childbirth 15 years ago , it's mainly when I cough or laugh and I can't take part in activities like trampolines.

It looks like a standard liner like Alldays, but is wider and feels thicker and more sustantial

It's definitely the right thickness, it doesn't feel like I have a permanent period pad and that's important but its thick enough to absorb an occasional leak and feels clean.

It's excellent value for that many, cheaper than most comparable products.

Yes I would do both .

JustMuddlingBobBobBobbingAlong · 21/12/2014 07:04

Q1 Mid 40s. Pelvic floor took a battering during 3 pregnancies in 5 years.
Q2 Easy to use. Does what I need it to.
Q3 These are less bulky, better at soaking up a sneezy gush of urine.
Q4 I've used Always and own brand pads for bladder weakness. I found these to be comfy, effective and secure. Probably more secure than the others. Not individually wrapped, but I put a couple in the inside zip compartment of my bag.
Q5 An RRP of £1.99 for 28 is a fair price.
Q6 Yes, I would definitely buy Tena Lights again. I would recommend these, if the conversation arose. Thank you for the trial.

Flapdoodles · 21/12/2014 12:36

Q1 - please give us some background on you and urine leakage - how old are you, how long have you experienced this and is it linked to a specific event eg pregnancy?
Aged 47, mild leakage since birth of first child 8 years ago, have 2 children.

Q2 – what about the product itself - was it easy to use? What improvements would you like to see?
I am happy with the product, easy to use and cannot think of any improvements.

Q3 - how do lights by TENA compare to your usual product or to your sanitary-wear?
They are a bit thicker than my usual liners but I was impressed with the stickiness, the ones I usually use something gather up/become loose.

Q4 – Have you used other products for bladder weakness? If so what and how did lights by TENA compare?
I usually use Always or Tesco's own brand for bladder weakness. TENA were definitely better quality and I felt much more confident with these.

Q5 - the RRP of Lights by Tena is £1.99 for 28 liners - do you think this is good value for money or not?
Yes, reasonably priced.

Q6 - would you buy lights by TENA in the future and would you recommend them to someone else who was suffering from urine leakage?
Yes I would buy them and I would recommend them.

alphacole1811 · 21/12/2014 16:29

Q1. I'm 49, mother of three, just have the cough, sneeze...need to hold bit, but sometimes doesn't quite work.
Q2. Just the right size. Stay in place...some other brands tend to wander!
Q3. Better. Better designed. Stays on. Just right.
Q4. Usually Always but Tena are better.
Q5. Very good value.
Q6. Would recommend.

wohmum · 21/12/2014 17:10

Q1 - please give us some background on you and urine leakage - how old are you, how long have you experienced this and is it linked to a specific event eg pregnancy?
I've 50, don't have a problem with running, jumping sneezing etc but have a real issue with holding it in if i want to go - especially when almost at the door !

Q2 – what about the product itself - was it easy to use? What improvements would you like to see?

Just right, size good. wasn't clear about the front arrow - is it me or am i just being dim ? i couldn't work out if the front is where the word 'front' was printed or where the arrow pointed Blush
Q3 - how do lights by TENA compare to your usual product or to your sanitary-wear?
probably more effective than panty liners, but just as discreet

Q4 – Have you used other products for bladder weakness? If so what and how did lights by TENA compare?
I haven't used any other products regularly, but these are clearly better than panty liners!

Q5 - the RRP of Lights by Tena is £1.99 for 28 liners - do you think this is good value for money or not? I guess reasonable price - but wold like the option to buy in bulk at a cheaper price - as realistically i will need to wear one every day now!

Q6 - would you buy lights by TENA in the future and would you recommend them to someone else who was suffering from urine leakage?

yes, I'l buy in the future and would recommend if the conversation came up - but its not something i have discussed with anyone else!

whataloadofoldshite · 21/12/2014 19:34

Q1 - I am 30 and have experienced leaks since having my 1st child in 2012. Currently pregnant with my 2nd.

Q2 – It was very easy to use but I found it bunches up a fair bit if you're quite active. Despite bunching, very comfortable, didn't notice itvwas there.

Q3 - I've never used a product like Tena but it is very similar to panty liners I have used before.

Q4 – I've not used anything similar before so couldn't compare or comment.

Q5 - I think if this product works for you the price is good value.

Q6 - I personally wouldn't buy this product, I may however try other products in the range. It would not stop me recommending them to someone else.

merylstreepcouldplaybatman · 21/12/2014 21:17

Q1 - please give us some background on you and urine leakage - how old are you, how long have you experienced this and is it linked to a specific event eg pregnancy? I'm 36, have suffered with the very occasional leak when running, jumping on a trampoline for example, for years but am now 40 weeks pregnant and have had real trouble recently, especially bad a couple of weeks ago when I had a nasty cough as I wet myself every time I coughed, even ended up sleeping in my sons nappy one night it was that bad. Now I just leak if I do a big cough so wearing liners rather than thick pads.
Q2 – what about the product itself - was it easy to use? What improvements would you like to see? very impressed, they look ever so thin but are deceptively absorbent. The sticky part stays in place and the odour control works well without masking with horrid floral scents like some products
Q3 - how do lights by TENA compare to your usual product or to your sanitary-wear? early in my pregnancy I was using sanitary liners so TENA lights are much better. More recently I've been buying supermarkets own incontinence pads which aren't anywhere near as comfortable as lights
Q4 – Have you used other products for bladder weakness? If so what and how did lights by TENA compare? yes supermarkets own incontinence pads - medium and thick sizes when my cough was bad. Price wise they were a little cheaper and obviously more absorbant as they were thicker but not as comfortable. I haven't tried any other liner versions though
Q5 - the RRP of Lights by Tena is £1.99 for 28 liners - do you think this is good value for money or not?i think it's a reasonable price to pay
Q6 - would you buy lights by TENA in the future and would you recommend them to someone else who was suffering from urine leakage? yes definitely will do

littlemonkeymum · 22/12/2014 00:34

Q1 - please give us some background on you and urine leakage - how old are you, how long have you experienced this and is it linked to a specific event eg pregnancy?
I am 37 and had my second child 12 weeks ago, which has resulted in occasional leakages, especially if I 'need to go' as I can't hold it in as well any more.
Q2 – what about the product itself - was it easy to use? What improvements would you like to see?
I liked the product and found it easy to use - I was expecting to notice a difference in wearing them compared to pantyliners but I was pleasantly surprised how comfortable they were.
Q3 - how do lights by TENA compare to your usual product or to your sanitary-wear?
They were thicker but no less comfortable and absorbed leakages very well
Q4 – Have you used other products for bladder weakness? If so what and how did lights by TENA compare?
Only the same brand of pantyliners which I have bought for years out of habit...I have found the TENA product to be preferable at the moment and am really happy that I feel that bit more confident in case I have an accident. I would prefer for them to be individually wrapped to keep in my bag though.
Q5 - the RRP of Lights by Tena is £1.99 for 28 liners - do you think this is good value for money or not?
I think for a month or so's supply the price is very reasonable given that I have found them so effective
Q6 - would you buy lights by TENA in the future and would you recommend them to someone else who was suffering from urine leakage?
I wasn't expecting to like the product this much and would definitely recommend to others suffering from the same issue

Kelsnack · 22/12/2014 12:07

Q1 - I'm 28, experienced some leakage during my second pregnancy. I had quite a difficult birth with my first child, resulting in a third degree tear following a forceps delivery. It has got much better now post second delivery and after my pelvic floor exercises. I currently don't have any issues when I sneeze, cough or laugh.

Q2 - yes, East to use. Just like a panty liner.

Q3 - they're a good size. Not too thick or too thin.

Q4 - I have used normal panty liners called 'dailies' but they tended to be a little too thin, so had to change them very regularly.

Q5 - yes, very good value.

Q6 - yes, definitely would recommend them to use to others and would buy them again on a regular basis!

SlayerKat · 22/12/2014 12:26

Q1 - I'm 36. I have 3 children aged 12, 9 and 6. Bladder weakness started after first pregnancy and got progressively worse. It only became a major problem after my third pregnancy 6 years ago. I now find myself using pads everyday to be on the safe side. I leak when I cough, sneeze or laugh or do sudden movements like exercise especially if I haven't used the toilet for a while. Pelvic floor exercises do not help.
Q2 – I was worried they might be too long but upon using the liners they were fine. I do not noticing I'm wearing one and they are not visible through clothing. I like that they do not have a front and back to worry about. I just want to put one on and get on with my life and forget about it. Which I can do with these. Plus they work. I have not been caught out with any accidents.
Q3 - I usually wear the lighter TENA pads which are much smaller but you get more in a packet. I would happily wear either now.
Q4 – TENA are my preferred product. I have tried bladder weakness pads by other sanitary wear products but I always prefer TENA as I feel they are designed with bladder weakness specifically in mind. Bladder weakness is not the same as having a period!
Q5 - Yes it is and I would buy at this price.
Q6 - Yes I would buy them and yes I would definitely recommend them.

johnworf · 22/12/2014 16:34

Q1 - please give us some background on you and urine leakage - how old are you, how long have you experienced this and is it linked to a specific event eg pregnancy?

I'm 48 and have urine incontinence when I cough, sneeze or laugh. It's getting increasingly worse as I get older. It started after I had my first 29 years ago but now it's quite bad, especially when I have a cold or a cough.

Q2 – what about the product itself - was it easy to use? What improvements would you like to see?

Loved the product. Very effective in dealing with leaks. Wish it came in a packet rather than a box (only for convenience for putting in my drawer).

Q3 - how do lights by TENA compare to your usual product or to your sanitary-wear?

I have been using Always before testing the product. Found it better as was slimmer and not as long.

Q4 – Have you used other products for bladder weakness? If so what and how did lights by TENA compare?

Nothing specially for bladder weakness so nothing to compare to.

Q5 - the RRP of Lights by Tena is £1.99 for 28 liners - do you think this is good value for money or not?

Twenty eight liners wouldn't last me very long so perhaps a packet with more in? Also addition of liners that come individually wrapped for putting in your handbag?

Q6 - would you buy lights by TENA in the future and would you recommend them to someone else who was suffering from urine leakage?

Already bought some! Yes, I would recommend.

Thanks for letting me try them. Smile

Q1 -please give us some background on you and urine leakage - how old are you, how long have you experienced this and is it linked to a specific event eg pregnancy?

28, had it for as long as i remember. Cross your legs when you sneeze is a rule i follow.

Q2 – what about the product itself - was it easy to use? What improvements would you like to see?

very easy to use. Very good stick and very comfortable.

Q3 - how do lights by TENA compare to your usual product or to your sanitary-wear?

Much nicer. Forgot they were there... They aren't at all plasticy or crinkly.

Q4 – Have you used other products for bladder weakness? If so what and how did lights by TENA compare?

No, i usually just use a pantyliner. These are much better!

Q5 - the RRP of Lights by Tena is £1.99 for 28 liners - do you think this is good value for money or not?

Yes.. I was surprised its so low.

Q6 - would you buy lights by TENA in the future and would you recommend them to someone else who was suffering from urine leakage?

Yes and yes!
