This is the feedback thread for the lights by TENA product test.

lights by TENA say "there are four products in the lights by TENA range. They’re all specially designed for Oooops moments. They absorb faster than ordinary liners, keeping you feeling drier and fresher. They all have specially designed odour-control. But they do differ in size and profile."

Testers - please share on this thread your responses to the following questions and please also add your feedback on survey form link which we emailed to you.

Q1 - please give us some background on you and urine leakage - how old are you, how long have you experienced this and is it linked to a specific event eg pregnancy?
Q2 – what about the product itself - was it easy to use? What improvements would you like to see?
Q3 - how do lights by TENA compare to your usual product or to your sanitary-wear?
Q4 – Have you used other products for bladder weakness? If so what and how did lights by TENA compare?
Q5 - the RRP of Lights by Tena is £1.99 for 28 liners - do you think this is good value for money or not?
Q6 - would you buy lights by TENA in the future and would you recommend them to someone else who was suffering from urine leakage?

Every tester who adds their feedback on this thread and who completes the survey form will be entered into a prize draw where one winner will get a £150 voucher for the store of their choice.

Please note, your anon comments may be used by lights by TENA on their website, social media and possibly elsewhere. Please only add a comment if you're happy for it to be used.

thanks and good luck!

Q1 - I'm 29, it's been an issue for me for about a year since my premature menopause has hit full force (it started just before I started having hot flashes). It was only a tiny problem at the very end of my four pregnancies when I had a very full squished bladder, but now it doesn't matter how full my bladder - sometimes even right after I've gone - I risk leaking when I sneeze (which was awful when my chronic sinusitis was really bad a month ago), moderate moving (really knocked back my progress with callisthenics for my disabilities), and even just yelling. Sad

Q2 – Easy to use, but didn't stick very well after moving around a lot. I'd spend the day with the kids clearing out other toys and I found that it moved around quite a bit when I was more active. Wings might be better? I also found it itched at times.

Q3 - I found that it absorbed the moisture and, more importantly for me, the smell better.

Q4 – More discrete and better at dealing with the smell than the cloth and other sanitary wear pads I've tried.

Q5 - That does seem good value.

Q6 - I would recommend, though I'm concerned with how many others have had reactions and my own itchiness. It would be really good for when travelling I imagine. I'd still a better reuseable product.

Q1 - please give us some background on you and urine leakage - how old are you, how long have you experienced this and is it linked to a specific event eg pregnancy? im 44 and have only had it since the very quick birth of my baby 21 months ago.
Q2 – what about the product itself - was it easy to use? What improvements would you like to see? It was easy to use but for me they were a little long, I use them for sport and they felt bulky as they were long.
Q3 - how do lights by TENA compare to your usual product or to your sanitary-wear? They are very good nicely absorbant
Q4 – Have you used other products for bladder weakness? If so what and how did lights by TENA compare? just a plain sanitary liner pad. Tena are better I wore them for a match recently and felt totally dry.
Q5 - the RRP of Lights by Tena is £1.99 for 28 liners - do you think this is good value for money or not?Yes its good value for money
Q6 - would you buy lights by TENA in the future and would you recommend them to someone else who was suffering from urine leakage? yes I would buy them again and I would recommend them.

velocityofrudolph · 17/12/2014 17:43

Q1 - I'm 44 and I first noticed slight leakage after the birth of my youngest child 20 years ago. Despite pelvic floor exercises this hasn't ever really improved
Q2 – The pads are very easy to use, the only improvement I can think of would be to make the arrow pointing to the front slightly larger
Q3 - They work easily as well as the other pads I use, they are slimmer which I was a little worried about, but so far they have coped well
Q4 – I use supermarket own brand incontinence pads, which are pretty thick. The TENA lights are a nice thickness so they aren't as bulky to wear
Q5 - I think the price is good for the amount of pads in a pack
Q6 - I would probably buy them in the future, yes, even more probably if they were on offer. On the off chance that I would actually speak to someone about leakage, yes I would recommend them

mummy81 · 17/12/2014 19:03

Q1 - please give us some background on you and urine leakage - how old are you, how long have you experienced this and is it linked to a specific event eg pregnancy?

Im 33. I didnt have a priblem until my second baby 18months ago.

Q2 – what about the product itself - was it easy to use? What improvements would you like to see?

Really like the product. Easy to use. Sticks really well.

Q3 - how do lights by TENA compare to your usual product or to your sanitary-wear?

Well. Nice and thin, discrete.

Q4 – Have you used other products for bladder weakness? If so what and how did lights by TENA compare?

I've used the aldi version which is good but I did prefer Tena

Q5 - the RRP of Lights by Tena is £1.99 for 28 liners - do you think this is good value for money or not?

Yes not bad.

Q6 - would you buy lights by TENA in the future and would you recommend them to someone else who was suffering from urine leakage?

Yes I would buy and recommend.

DurhamDurham · 17/12/2014 21:12

I've added mu feedback on here but I think I have mistakenly deleted the email with the survey link.

Mumsnet Is there any chance I could have the link again, I'd be very grateful Smile

violetwellies · 17/12/2014 22:33

Q1. 49, slight leakage since pregnancy 4 years ago. Worse at the moment due to cough.

Q2 Easy to use, a bit rough feeling (top layer) compared to usual panty liner. Have tried a big incontinence pad for a specific sporting event. My ladygarden sort of wove itself into it, and I gave myself an impromptu waxing when I finally got chance to go to a loo. Well it feels like that did.

Q3. Compares well to usual products

Q4 see Q2

Q5 I have to give them a more energetic test to see if they're worth nearly £2. I think they seem quite pricey for a glorified panty liner.

Q6 If things get any worse I might buy some . But I'm not getting evangelical about them.

Pinkypurrrfect · 18/12/2014 05:58

Q1 - please give us some background on you and urine leakage - how old are you, how long have you experienced this and is it linked to a specific event eg pregnancy?
I'm 30 and just had my first daughter. It was until I was pregnant I noticed the issue and had to do something about it.
Q2 – what about the product itself - was it easy to use? What improvements would you like to see?
its nice and soft, discret and comfortable to wear.
Q3 - how do lights by TENA compare to your usual product or to your sanitary-wear?
I would only use TENA. For all the reasons above
Q4 – Have you used other products for bladder weakness? If so what and how did lights by TENA compare?
I haven't only these.
Q5 - the RRP of Lights by Tena is £1.99 for 28 liners - do you think this is good value for money or not?
absolutely. Great value for money
Q6 - would you buy lights by TENA in the future and would you recommend them to someone else who was suffering from urine leakage?
most defiantly I love the product

DorisIsABitPartialToSprouts · 18/12/2014 10:08

Q1 - please give us some background on you and urine leakage - how old are you, how long have you experienced this and is it linked to a specific event eg pregnancy?
I am 43. I have suffered from urine incontinence for over 20 years.
Q2 what about the product itself - was it easy to use? What improvements would you like to see?
Yes it was very easy to use. The only improvement I would suggest is that they are individually wrapped so you can carry them in your bag.
Q3 - how do lights by TENA compare to your usual product or to your sanitary-wear?
Slightly thicker than pant liners, which was better for me as more absorbant.
Q4 Have you used other products for bladder weakness? If so what and how did lights by TENA compare?
No, I have only used pantliners which are not absorbant enough.
Q5 - the RRP of Lights by Tena is 1.99 for 28 liners - do you think this is good value for money or not?
Yes I think so.
Q6 - would you buy lights by TENA in the future and would you recommend them to someone else who was suffering from urine leakage?
Yes, having tried them for this survey I would definately recommend them and use them again.

Icyblue · 18/12/2014 10:45
  1. I'm 44. I suffered from slight leakage since my first pregnancy 17 years ago.
  2. The pads were easy to use, they stayed firmly on my knickers. Improvements would ideally be individually wrapped.
  3. Soft, comfortable to wear, thin and discreet.
  4. I have not used products designed for bladder weakness before.
  5. Average value.
  6. Maybe.
rupert23 · 18/12/2014 11:06

Q2 – what about the product itself - was it easy to use? What improvements would you like to see? found it easy to use comfy and discreet
Q3 - how do lights by TENA compare to your usual product or to your sanitary-wear? prefer them as they are a bit thicker but still discreet
Q4 – Have you used other products for bladder weakness? If so what and how did lights by TENA compare? only regular liners which are a bit thin
Q5 - the RRP of Lights by Tena is £1.99 for 28 liners - do you think this is good value for money or not? i think its good value

Q6 - would you buy lights by TENA in the future and would you recommend them to someone else who was suffering from urine leakage?i would definately buy and recommend they were much better than i expected really felt confident with them. thank you for letting me trial.

Madamnit · 18/12/2014 14:59

Q1 - Im 32 - experienced mild leakage since 1st child 2.5 years ago and has got a little bit worse after child 2!

Q2 – Easy to use, not keen on the longer length liner, seems to get a bit scrunched and doesn't seem to stick as well.

Q3 - I usually buy Tena as more absorbent and doesn't have silly fragrance that you get with some others.

Q4 – Only tena products specifically for bladder weekness. I have used other 'normal' panty liners but tend to be thin, artificially fragranced and not as absorbent.

Q5 - Price is fine

Q6 - Will buy in future and would recommend

Groovee · 18/12/2014 17:02

I still haven't received mine Sad

Britishdisneydiva · 18/12/2014 17:46

Q1) I'm a 45 year old Mum of 4 and have increasing over the years suffered with slight urine leakage when I'm really, really desperate for the loo.

Q2) Tena Lights are larger, longer and thicker than my usual brand of panty liners.

I really like that there is an easy to find tear off backing to the pad - no fiddling! Great for an older, perhaps sight impaired lady.

The pad adhered to my underwear really well and stayed securely in place all day until I removed it.

Personally, I thought the pad was too long.

I could feel the pad when I was wearing it, although it didn't feel especially uncomfortable - just different/more bulky than my usual brand of panty liner.

I quite like fresh smelling scented panty liners - maybe Tena Lights could be improved and made a little more appealing or simply feminine by adding a light perfume.

Q3) Tena Lights are far more absorbent than my usual brand of panty liner and importantly they last all day long.

Q4) No, I've never purchased or used other bladder problem specific product before, but I regularly use Always and Bodyform panty liner products.

Tena Lights are far more absorbent and better suited for the purpose of bladder weakness than just daily personal freshness wear.

Q5) Tena Lights provide really great value for money, even more so when I consider that I wouldn't have to change (for freshness) as often as I would with my usual brand.

Q6) I'd probably buy Tena Lights in the future and definitely if my bladder weakness worsened and I was concerned about oooops moments!

Yes, I would definitely recommend Tena Lights to anyone with a bladder weakness.

Thislittlekitten · 18/12/2014 21:10

Q1 I'm 34 years old with two children. I had problems after my first pregnancy, leaking whilst coughing, sneezing. This became worse during my second pregnancy.

Q2 Very easy to use. Tab came off without any problem.
No unnecessary packaging.
Would not change it at all.

Q3 I found tena lights were far better than my usual pads. They stuck on much better. I barely felt like I was wearing anything yet they provided excellent protection. There was no smell either. That is always a big concern of mine.
I have used other products that were uncomfortable to wear, bulky or smelt after use.
I am usually warey of pads without wings but this product stayed on well.

Q4 They were much better than other products I've used. More discrete and comfortable.

Q5 I think £1.99 is excellent value for money.

Q6 I would buy tena lights in future and would recommend them.

Bubbles85 · 18/12/2014 21:24

Q1 - please give us some background on you and urine leakage - how old are you, how long have you experienced this and is it linked to a specific event eg pregnancy? - 28 and problems started post pregnancy.
Q2 – what about the product itself - was it easy to use? What improvements would you like to see? - yes it was easy to use and stayed in place well.
Q3 - how do lights by TENA compare to your usual product or to your sanitary-wear? - not quite as discreet but thicker so had more absorption.
Q4 – Have you used other products for bladder weakness? If so what and how did lights by TENA compare? - no.
Q5 - the RRP of Lights by Tena is £1.99 for 28 liners - do you think this is good value for money or not? - it is ok as that would last a month.
Q6 - would you buy lights by TENA in the future and would you recommend them to someone else who was suffering from urine leakage? -yes!

ToddlerTyrannyZen · 19/12/2014 02:31

Q1 - I'm 29 and only started to experience incontinence during pregnancy with my first child. I've got pregnant with her at 26 and have since suffered leaks when I sneeze, cough or jump especially during exercises.

Q2 – The product is very easy to use. I'd like a slimmer width for better discretion but it's otherwise perfect.

Q3 - I find that lights by TENA had better adhesion than my current brand and I was quite impressed by the odour control. It also gave me a better all round confident feeling. This product could pass for a sanitary product for those with really light periods.

Q4 – I've tried the Always brand and use the Carefree brand regularly. I would say that Lights by TENA is the best of the three, Always being the worst.

Q5 - I think it offers good value for money and compares favourably against similar products

Q6 - I would definitely buy this and be sure to stock up while on offer. I'd also recommend it to friends and family

weebarra · 19/12/2014 11:40

Q1 - please give us some background on you and urine leakage - how old are you, how long have you experienced this and is it linked to a specific event eg pregnancy?
I'm 37 and have noticed issues since the birth of my third child 16 months ago.
Q2 – what about the product itself - was it easy to use? What improvements would you like to see?
Yes, easy to use and effective.
Q3 - how do lights by TENA compare to your usual product or to your sanitary-wear?
I've only used panty liners before and Tena were a big improvement
Q4 – Have you used other products for bladder weakness? If so what and how did lights by TENA compare?
As above

Q5 - the RRP of Lights by Tena is £1.99 for 28 liners - do you think this is good value for money or not?
Yes
Q6 - would you buy lights by TENA in the future and would you recommend them to someone else who was suffering from urine leakage?
Yes I will be likely to buy them and would recommend

AnnMumsnet · 19/12/2014 13:37

Thanks for all the feedback so far! Don't forget the survey as well
And sorry if you're yet to receive them: suspect it will be Christmas post delays.

Q1. I'm 42 and have experienced slight leakage following two pregnancies.
Q2. The product was easy to use - lived up to its 'Light' name compared with regular products but probably a little thicker than panty liners which I normally use. Liked the longer length.
Q3. As above they were thicker than the products I generally use.
Q4. After a third-degree tear following my daughter's birth I'd used the Tena full sanitary pants. Whilst necessary at the time these did feel quite medical and I was relieved when I no longer needed then. I've used panty liners since with mixed success. The Lights by TENA are definitely more absorbent.
Q5. The RRP is more expensive than the liners I usually buy but probably justified as they are thicker
Q6. I would probably buy Lights by TENA again and would recommend them.

DollyTwat · 19/12/2014 14:23

Q1 :I'm 45 years old and started suffering from bladder weakness about 9 years ago after my 2nd child. Only really when I have a cough and find that I can't walk and cough at the same time

Q2: The product was very easy to use
Q3 : They were thicker than liners I've used in the past but very effective
Q4: I have used pantyliners before and these were much better
Q5: I think they're very reasonable in price
Q6: I would purchase them and I'd recommend them

NannaBess · 19/12/2014 14:24

Q1 - please give us some background on you and urine leakage - how old are you, how long have you experienced this and is it linked to a specific event eg pregnancy?
I am 38 and have experienced this since I was 27, ever since we started fertility treatment - I have never been pregnant (adoptive mum).
Q2 – what about the product itself - was it easy to use? What improvements would you like to see?
Very easy to apply onto knickers and doesn't move during the day.
Q3 - how do lights by TENA compare to your usual product or to your sanitary-wear?
Held more moisture than other products I've used.
Q4 – Have you used other products for bladder weakness? If so what and how did lights by TENA compare?
Tesco's own. TENA are better shaped and hold more moisture.
Q5 - the RRP of Lights by Tena is £1.99 for 28 liners - do you think this is good value for money or not?
I would be happy to pay this.
Q6 - would you buy lights by TENA in the future and would you recommend them to someone else who was suffering from urine leakage?
Will be buying again and would recommend.

itchyleg · 19/12/2014 15:03

Q1
50 years old. I have experienced leakage since birth of a child in 2006 - sometime when I cough, I get a leak. Mind you, I did used to have it before that, but that was mainly to do with getting up from the loo too quickly and frequently getting a bit of spillage from a second rush of wee.

Q2 – Product was very easy to use - the stickiness is just right. Can't notice it down there but am very confident that it is doing what it needs to do. One comment is that when I wear knickers with a thin gusset the pad stretches out over the sides. I thought I might get pinched pubes on the glue as a result, but it has been fine. The arrow pointing out which way to put in it was useful.

Q3 - Very absorbent, very comfortable. They are an improvement on what I usually wear.

Q4 – Have only used regular thin sanitary pads or panty liners, which often crumple, as I leave them in all day, because the leakage is not very often. These seem to last longer and remain in decent shape.

Q5 -yes, that is good value, as they are effective, at least for my light leaks.

Q6 - I would do both - buy and recommend.

MummyBtothree · 19/12/2014 17:18

Q1 - please give us some background on you and urine leakage - how old are you, how long have you experienced this and is it linked to a specific event eg pregnancy?

I'm 35 & always had a bit of a weak bladder, I wet myself laughing a couple of times as a teenager (cringe) but have noticed at more since having my three kids.

Q2 – what about the product itself - was it easy to use? What improvements would you like to see?

I thought the adhesive strip could be better, i found it didnt stick to my undies very well & the liner creased up a bit. Also I thought the liner was quite thick, a bit like an old style sanitary pad. I wear leggings alot and was self conscious that the liner was visible as it felt like a cushion between my legs.

Q3 - how do lights by TENA compare to your usual product or to your sanitary-wear?

They deal with the odour better and are slightly more absorbant but thats it.

Q4 – Have you used other products for bladder weakness? If so what and how did lights by TENA compare?

No I havent.

Q5 - the RRP of Lights by Tena is £1.99 for 28 liners - do you think this is good value for money or not?

It depends, if like me you only need one liner a day I think thats a fair price but not if you have to use several a day.

Q6 - would you buy lights by TENA in the future and would you recommend them to someone else who was suffering from urine leakage?

Yes I would recommend them to someone else & if the liners were thinner, I would definately buy them.

iloveshortshorts · 19/12/2014 18:15

Q1 - please give us some background on you and urine leakage - how old are you, how long have you experienced this and is it linked to a specific event eg pregnancy?

im 23 and have experienced leakage for about a year after I had my child.

Q2 – what about the product itself - was it easy to use? What improvements would you like to see?

the product was simple and easy to use only improvements I would make is if it could be individually wrapped smaller as they are long so harder to be discreet.

Q3 - how do lights by TENA compare to your usual product or to your sanitary-wear?

Lights by Tena were comfortable and much thicker than what I use.

Q4 – Have you used other products for bladder weakness? If so what and how did lights by TENA compare?

I haven't used any other products for bladder weakness.

Q5 - the RRP of Lights by Tena is £1.99 for 28 liners - do you think this is good value for money or not?

I think its good value for money.

Q6 - would you buy lights by TENA in the future and would you recommend them to someone else who was suffering from urine leakage?

I would buy Lights by Tena in the future, if someone specifically asked about bladder weakness I would recommend them.

teddygirlonce · 19/12/2014 18:41

Q1 - please give us some background on you and urine leakage - how old are you, how long have you experienced this and is it linked to a specific event eg pregnancy?

Slight leakage for the past year when I'm in need of the loo. I'm 51 and think it's related to going thro' the menopause.

Q2 – what about the product itself - was it easy to use? What improvements would you like to see?

The product was easy to use. My only issue with it is that the pads are a bit wider than the gusset of some of my knickers so slightly sticky and 'hanging over' which doesn't give a very discreet look

Q3 - how do lights by TENA compare to your usual product or to your sanitary-wear?

The Tena lights seemed to afford better absorbency than some sanitary pads. I've not worn panty-liners before.

Q4 – Have you used other products for bladder weakness? If so what and how did lights by TENA compare?

No I've not done so in the past.

Q5 - the RRP of Lights by Tena is £1.99 for 28 liners - do you think this is good value for money or not?

I would say they're good value for money particularly if you only need to use a TENA light pad 'in case' and so don't need to change them more than once a day.

Q6 - would you buy lights by TENA in the future and would you recommend them to someone else who was suffering from urine leakage?

Yes I would and would probably recommend them if the subject of urine leakage came up in conversation (which it doesn't normally!).
