This is the feedback thread for the lights by TENA product test.

lights by TENA say "there are four products in the lights by TENA range. They’re all specially designed for Oooops moments. They absorb faster than ordinary liners, keeping you feeling drier and fresher. They all have specially designed odour-control. But they do differ in size and profile."

Testers - please share on this thread your responses to the following questions and please also add your feedback on survey form link which we emailed to you.

Q1 - please give us some background on you and urine leakage - how old are you, how long have you experienced this and is it linked to a specific event eg pregnancy?
Q2 – what about the product itself - was it easy to use? What improvements would you like to see?
Q3 - how do lights by TENA compare to your usual product or to your sanitary-wear?
Q4 – Have you used other products for bladder weakness? If so what and how did lights by TENA compare?
Q5 - the RRP of Lights by Tena is £1.99 for 28 liners - do you think this is good value for money or not?
Q6 - would you buy lights by TENA in the future and would you recommend them to someone else who was suffering from urine leakage?

Every tester who adds their feedback on this thread and who completes the survey form will be entered into a prize draw where one winner will get a £150 voucher for the store of their choice.

Please note, your anon comments may be used by lights by TENA on their website, social media and possibly elsewhere. Please only add a comment if you're happy for it to be used.

thanks and good luck!

Q1 - please give us some background on you and urine leakage - how old are you, how long have you experienced this and is it linked to a specific event eg pregnancy?

I am 36 and first had incontinence in early pregnancy when I was being so sick. Now with a 3 year old, I still always wear a liner each day - things have really improved, but when I need to go, I need to go! I can't sneeze for example when I need a wee without a tiny accident.

Q2 – what about the product itself - was it easy to use? What improvements would you like to see?

It is more substantial than a panty liner yet still thin and practical. It's not too thin, though, which I never like in panty liners.

Q3 - how do lights by TENA compare to your usual product or to your sanitary-wear?

Fulfils its promises unlike panty liners - thin enough but more substantial and absorbent and wicking.

Q4 – Have you used other products for bladder weakness? If so what and how did lights by TENA compare?

No.

Q5 - the RRP of Lights by Tena is £1.99 for 28 liners - do you think this is good value for money or not?

Yes - you do get what you pay for with any sanitary wear.

Q6 - would you buy lights by TENA in the future and would you recommend them to someone else who was suffering from urine leakage?

Definitely - I would not use anything else now.

Q1 - please give us some background on you and urine leakage - how old are you, how long have you experienced this and is it linked to a specific event eg pregnancy? Q2 – what about the product itself - was it easy to use? What improvements would you like to see? yes, the product was very easy to use. I use liners each day anyway
Q3 - how do lights by TENA compare to your usual product or to your sanitary-wear? there were slightly thicker but this made me feel more confident
Q4 – Have you used other products for bladder weakness? If so what and how did lights by TENA compare? no I haven't
Q5 - the RRP of Lights by Tena is £1.99 for 28 liners - do you think this is good value for money or not? it's on the expensive side which would put me off
Q6 - would you buy lights by TENA in the future and would you recommend them to someone else who was suffering from urine leakage? I might buy them occasionally or if symptoms worsened and yes I would recommend them

please give us some background on you and urine leakage - how old are you, how long have you experienced this and is it linked to a specific event eg pregnancy?
I am 53 years old and have had 2 children, and its got worse ever since th menopuse 4 years ago. I did not have a problem with holding my uring prior to pregnancy. Now I have daily oops moments but more Omigod moments sadly :(

Q2 what about the product itself - was it easy to use? What improvements would you like to see?
Easy to use, great as a panty liner with more absorbtion.

Q3 - how do lights by TENA compare to your usual product or to your sanitary-wear?
Much thinner & great for wearing under tighter clothing at formal occasions, more discreet.

Q4 Have you used other products for bladder weakness? If so what and how did lights by TENA compare?
Usually get whagever is on offer
As above, impressed by absorbancy for the size.

Q5 - the RRP of Lights by Tena is 1.99 for 28 liners - do you think this is good value for money or not? Good value for money even using a few a day at times

Q6 - would you buy lights by TENA in the future and would you recommend them to someone else who was suffering from urine leakage?
Yes I would

Q1. I am 34 and have suffered since my fourth baby over four years ago, I do pelvic floor exercises every other day and seen no significant difference.

Q2. To be honest not sure it needs any improvements, they actually worked very well. They fit comfortably, and they after using them a day or two I actually felt a little more confident!

Q3. I have always disliked using pads, I nearly always have to wear tights when I wear pads as I never feel that they are secure on their own, and would hate to lose one! But these fit very well without being too bulky.

Q4. I have used other pads but none have worked as well as this.

Q5. Being this absorbant and comfortable, I thought they were fantastic value for money.

Q6. Honestly have already bigged them up at my local Mums coffee morning. I couldn't believe how many women suffer with this problem, which has done wonders for my confidence as I kind of always felt like I was too young to suffer like this. I have told my friends that these are great value, very soft, comfortable, un-noticeable after a while, and best of all, they work. You can't put a price on that. :-) Very happy I tried them, I am now converted!

2muchmess · 31/12/2014 11:32
  1. I'm 38 and have had 4 children. I've experienced it a lot through each pregnancy, and now when I exercise or have a bad cough or sneeze I get a little leakage.
  2. Yes it was easy and comfortable to use, just like a panty liner.
  3. This worked much better than a panty liner when i was exercising. I would definitely use these in the future.
  4. these were much better than using sanitary towels (too thick), or panty liners (too thin and not absorbant enough)
  5. yes i think this is good value for money
  6. definitely

Q1 - please give us some background on you and urine leakage - how old are you, how long have you experienced this and is it linked to a specific event eg pregnancy?

Temperamental kidneys now hampered further by misbehaving pelvic floor. 38 but feel 78.

Q2 – what about the product itself - was it easy to use? What improvements would you like to see?

Easy to use, sensible pack size. Box does split easily, mine arrived squashed and spilling out. Pads are good size and thickness.

Q3 - how do lights by TENA compare to your usual product or to your sanitary-wear?

Much more suitable. You still feel fresh whereas feminine wear aren't designed for leaks of this manner.

Q4 – Have you used other products for bladder weakness? If so what and how did lights by TENA compare?

Not tried as trying to ignore need!

Q5 - the RRP of Lights by Tena is £1.99 for 28 liners - do you think this is good value for money or not?

Great value.

Q6 - would you buy lights by TENA in the future and would you recommend them to someone else who was suffering from urine leakage?

Definitely. Will investigate rest of range.

Q1 - please give us some background on you and urine leakage - how old are you, how long have you experienced this and is it linked to a specific event eg pregnancy?

30, experienced it since the birth of my third child, briefly, then again just for a short time after 4th child, usually in the 2-3 months following birth, stronger urges and am able to wait less time before going.

Q2 – what about the product itself - was it easy to use? What improvements would you like to see?

absolutely fine design, easy to use

Q3 - how do lights by TENA compare to your usual product or to your sanitary-wear?

I normally go for extra long as I don't like the shorter deigns that end up rolling up and sticking to your pubic hair!Blush They are on par with the pantyliners I would use post-period, but less substantial than my usual sanitary wear

Q4 – Have you used other products for bladder weakness? If so what and how did lights by TENA compare?

No

Q5 - the RRP of Lights by Tena is £1.99 for 28 liners - do you think this is good value for money or not?

£1.50 for 30 would sound like a much better deal

Q6 - would you buy lights by TENA in the future and would you recommend them to someone else who was suffering from urine leakage?

Yes to help in the interim along with regular pelvic floor exercises to regain lost muscle control

Bellbell30 · 01/01/2015 14:07

Q2 – what about the product itself - was it easy to use? What improvements would you like to see?
Pads in beige box

Q3 - how do lights by TENA compare to your usual product or to your sanitary-wear? Not very compact, and wouldn't feel right carrying in my bag. But performance wise these are great.

Q4 – Have you used other products for bladder weakness? If so what and how did lights by TENA compare? Just shop eon brands, but these are brilliant compared to those.
Q5 - the RRP of Lights by Tena is £1.99 for 28 liners - do you think this is good value for money or not? Yes

Q6 - would you buy lights by TENA in the future and would you recommend them to someone else who was suffering from urine leakage?

Q1 - please give us some background on you and urine leakage - how old are you, how long have you experienced this and is it linked to a specific event eg pregnancy?

I am 46 years old and have three children aged 16, 14 and 12 going on 22 ... In my first pregnancy I tore my perineum and knowing better than all the health visitors I KNEW BETTER ... I DIDN'T NEED TO DO MY PV FLOOR EXERCISES :-) ... HA ...now I am paying for it .... I also have a prolapse of the bladder due to a weak womb pushing down on it .. I have been advised to have a hysterectomy but even though I dont want any more children I dont want a hysterectomy either ... maybe I am wrong ... what do you all think ??? My leakage has got much worse as this past year I have been receiving treatment for a brain tumour which left me constipated for several weeks despite loads of disgusting supposotories, powders and drinks which left the bowel putting even more pressure on the bladder. So when I have to go .. I HAVE to go , and God help me if i sneeze if i have to go badly ...runnnnnnnnnnnn

Q2 – what about the product itself - was it easy to use? What improvements would you like to see?

The Tena product is the BEST I have ever trialled, I fell in love with a certain brand of stretchy underwear , but the majority of the named brand panty liners that I have tried REFUSE to stick to them and there have been times when walking along they decide to come unstuck and slide down my leg .. MAJOR EMBARASSMENT believe me :-( Tena has a great adhesive quality , a lovely design and a pleasant fragrance... The two things I would add would be a stronger fragrance and a slightly longer pad ... and maybe another addition to the family of a greater absorbancy.

Q3 - how do lights by TENA compare to your usual product or to your sanitary-wear? Compared to my other panty liners they are far better and will become my one and only....

I cannot compare them to my sanitary products as I suffer from the periods from HELL and have to use 2 super plus extra tampax inserted at a time as well as about 14 sheets or toilet paper rolled into a pad shape and a super sanitary pad ... these will be flooded within an hour and clots that would fit in the palm of your hand too so sadly I couldnt use these for that reason....

Q4 – Have you used other products for bladder weakness? If so what and how did lights by TENA compare? I have tried Boots staydry pads which refused to stick ... as did Always discreet
.. Tena are by far the best and totally surpassed all opposition.

Q5 - the RRP of Lights by Tena is £1.99 for 28 liners - do you think this is good value for money or not?

Totally great value for money .... I would even pay more having the TOTAL confidence that they work and are reliable..

Q6 - would you buy lights by TENA in the future and would you recommend them to someone else who was suffering from urine leakage? I have already bought them on my last shop and now they are the ONLY product I will buy.

Thank you Tena for letting me trial a fantastic product that is simply the best ... better than all the rest and is totally unrivalled and unsurpassed . Please add me to the list for future trials ...

Q1 - I have always suffered a bit with urine leakage but it got worse after having my son 3 years ago. It has been bad over the last few months as I seem to have lots of colds and coughs and I have accidents when I cough and sneeze.
Q2 – The product was great. Easy to peel back the paper and a good size and comfortable to wear.
Q3 - To look at there is not much difference but the liners seem to contain leakages and keep me dry whereas some others do not.
Q4 – I've tried Always liners but no others.
Q5 - the RRP of Lights by Tena is £1.99 for 28 liners - do you think this is good value for money or not Yes it is good value for money.
Q6 - I would buy them again and definitely recommend them too.

Crazybit · 03/01/2015 00:27

I'm 33 and have had problems since the birth of my 2nd child 7 years ago, it has got progressively worse with each pregnancy, especially my most recent.

Q2 – what about the product itself - was it easy to use? What improvements would you like to see?

Very easy to use, no improvements.

Q3 - how do lights by TENA compare to your usual product or to your sanitary-wear?

They're larger and stickier, much better.

Q4 – Have you used other products for bladder weakness? If so what and how did lights by TENA compare?

No, just usal panty liners.

Q5 - the RRP of Lights by Tena is £1.99 for 28 liners - do you think this is good value for money or not?

It is acceptable although i will probably look for deals.

Q6 - would you buy lights by TENA in the future and would you recommend them to someone else who was suffering from urine leakage?

Yes and yes.

derektheladyhamster · 04/01/2015 12:17

Q1 - I am 41 and have had leakage for the last couple of years, my youngest of 2 is now 12 so it didn't happen immediately after his birth although my pelvic floor was shot to pieces, and both births were ventose deliveries with tearing.

Q2 – very easy to use, comfy (didn't feel it when I was wearing them) and worked

Q3 - I wear a mooncup normally, and have never bothered with liners normally

Q4 – no

Q5 - yes, good value

Q6 - yes I would recomend them, I would probably use them but ideally I'd like a reusable option like my mooncup.

skapur · 05/01/2015 15:48

Q1 - please give us some background on you and urine leakage - how old are you, how long have you experienced this and is it linked to a specific event eg pregnancy? I am 40 and never have 2 kids. I never had any issues until 9 months ago ( my child is 4 now) and i have tried pelvic floor excercises which have helped but i still have a mild problem.

Q2 what about the product itself - was it easy to use? What improvements would you like to see? The product is easy to use but I thought it was a bit bulky and I would like it to be individually wrapped so I can pop it in my handbag.

Q3 - how do lights by TENA compare to your usual product or to your sanitary-wear? My usual product is always and this was far bulkier.

Q4 Have you used other products for bladder weakness? If so what and how did lights by TENA compare?
I use always which is much thinner and lightly scented.

Q5 - the RRP of Lights by Tena is 1.99 for 28 liners - do you think this is good value for money or not? I think this is good value.

Q6 - would you buy lights by TENA in the future and would you recommend them to someone else who was suffering from urine leakage?

I would not buy Tena in the future if Always was available as I prefer a thinner liner.

iammamam · 05/01/2015 15:52

Q5.and Q6 .would definitely recommend and will use again. Brilliant product.

maxybrown · 05/01/2015 16:17

Q1 - please give us some background on you and urine leakage - how old are you, how long have you experienced this and is it linked to a specific event eg pregnancy? - I am 38 and always suffered some degree of bladder weakness. I wet the bed until I was a teenager, not sure if related or not. It has been worse since having my son 7 years ago, mostly when I have a cough or sneeze but having a baf=d cough is a nightmare.

Q2 – what about the product itself - was it easy to use? What improvements would you like to see? - very easy yes. I would like them to be shorter.

Q3 - how do lights by TENA compare to your usual product or to your sanitary-wear? - as above I find all sanitary products too long and they often cause me to have irritation at the back.

Q4 – Have you used other products for bladder weakness? If so what and how did lights by TENA compare? - Not tried anything other than normal liners. These are much better

Q5 - the RRP of Lights by Tena is £1.99 for 28 liners - do you think this is good value for money or not? Yes I think is reasonable

Q6 - would you buy lights by TENA in the future and would you recommend them to someone else who was suffering from urine leakage? - yes definitely

Q1 - please give us some background on you and urine leakage - how old are you, how long have you experienced this and is it linked to a specific event eg pregnancy?
A1 I'm 27 and have experienced leakage since the birth of my dd 3.5 years ago. It was a difficult birth, resulting in a 3rd degree tear.
Q2 – what about the product itself - was it easy to use? What improvements would you like to see?
A2 the product was very easy to use. I found it comfortable and good for everyday use. Can't think of any improvements.
Q3 - how do lights by TENA compare to your usual product or to your sanitary-wear?
A3 I generally use a much thicker pad which is not as comfortable for everyday so lights by tena compares favourably
Q4 – Have you used other products for bladder weakness? If so what and how did lights by TENA compare?
A4 I've used thicker Tena pads and while I find them very effective for e.g. exercising they are a bit much for everyday use.
Q5 - the RRP of Lights by Tena is £1.99 for 28 liners - do you think this is good value for money or not?
A5 absolutely excellent value for money
Q6 - would you buy lights by TENA in the future and would you recommend them to someone else who was suffering from urine leakage?
A6 I will definitely buy them and will recommend them to others

Stinkystinkypoopoohead · 05/01/2015 16:22

Q1. I am 35 and have recurring kidney problems which have left me with some leakage.
Q2. The pads were extremely easy to use
Q3. The pads were thinner and more absorbent than the panty liners I usually use
Q4. Usually use Always liners
Q5. This is great value for money and I will be switching brands the next time I shop.
Q6. As on Q5 I will definitely be using this brand again, and have already recommended and shared them with my best friend who also has leakage since the birth of her son.

nonnygirl · 05/01/2015 16:26

Q1-I'm 47 and peri menopausal! After 3 children particularly the 3rd my pelvic floor has suffered.
I am prone to leakage when I am due my period and if I am desperate for the toilet .
Q2- I thought the pads were very good quality and didn't 'roll up' like some other liners- I don't think they can be improved on
Q3-as before they didn't roll up like some liners I use also they were comfortable to wear and had good absorbency
Q4- I normally use standard panty liners or sanitary pads which are on offer .
Q5-They are a bit more expensive than I would normally pay but now I know they are good quality and work I would probably pay it
Q6- I would definately buy them if they were on special offer and yes I would recommend them .

Karennza · 05/01/2015 16:27

Q1 - please give us some background on you and urine leakage - how old are you, how long have you experienced this and is it linked to a specific event eg pregnancy?

I'm 31 and have experienced urinary incontinence on and off for about three years. It got worse when I was pregnant in 2013, but wasn't caused by it. I have no idea what, if anything, did!

Q2 – what about the product itself - was it easy to use? What improvements would you like to see?

Very straightforward; it was just like a 'panty liner' really. I have no major complaints, though might suggest individual wrapping or the option to purchase some sort of discreet holder for when out and about.

Q3 - how do lights by TENA compare to your usual product or to your sanitary-wear?

Favourably. I found them generally very absorbent. Occasionally my leakage is moderate, even more occasionally heavy; the product didn't retain the wetness well on the one occasion it happened during the trial (in that I could feel the wetness - it didn't dribble or anything!), but it is not designed for this. It was good for normal, light leaks - in my view better than other, similar brands I've tried.

Q4 – Have you used other products for bladder weakness? If so what and how did lights by TENA compare?

I've used a few such products over the years, including other offerings from TENA. In addition to my comments on Q3, I'd say that these are as good as the other TENA products, but are by and large more discreet and portable. My experience has been that TENA towels/pads, including these ones, are usually superior to other brands I've tried.

Q5 - the RRP of Lights by Tena is £1.99 for 28 liners - do you think this is good value for money or not?

I think this is fairly reasonable, yes.

Q6 - would you buy lights by TENA in the future and would you recommend them to someone else who was suffering from urine leakage?

Yes. For someone experiencing a (relatively) minor affliction of this nature, these pads are an effective, pretty inexpensive way to avoid discomfort and embarrassment.

pervincabliss · 05/01/2015 16:43

Q1 - please give us some background on you and urine leakage - how old are you, how long have you experienced this and is it linked to a specific event eg pregnancy?
31 years old, always had some problem, but getting worst after pregnancy.

Q2 – what about the product itself - was it easy to use? What improvements would you like to see?
It was easy to use. It has good absorbency. Though I would like to see a more travel-friendly packaging, such as individual wrapping to fit purse.

Q3 - how do lights by TENA compare to your usual product or to your sanitary-wear?
It was great, better absorbency and better fit.

Q4 – Have you used other products for bladder weakness? If so what and how did lights by TENA compare?
I use liners (random brands depend on price), but they always seems too thin and don't fit that nicely when I move around.

Q5 - the RRP of Lights by Tena is £1.99 for 28 liners - do you think this is good value for money or not?
Good value.

Q6 - would you buy lights by TENA in the future and would you recommend them to someone else who was suffering from urine leakage?
Yes and yes.

babsmam · 05/01/2015 17:19

I'M 39 and have had two large for my frame babies 2 years apart and this has been the cause of my leakage.
the product was easy enough to use but i thought it was a bit wide and the sticky stuck to my legs.
i have used other products and they were bulkier than TENA which i was pleased about with TENA as it less obvious under my gym kit. I only need a pad when doing exercise.

i would recommend them and i think the price is fine as im an occasional user. I only need for high impact stuff.

kristinage · 05/01/2015 17:47

Q1 - I am 35. I have urine leakage from second pregnancy.
Q2 - I love this product, its easy to use and can't feel it as lights by Tena is very thin, but always feeling dry.
Q3 - normally I used ALWAYS products, but now I will move on lights by Tena, because they are much better.
Q4 - lights by Tena is thinner, but makes you feel dry. Also did't feel any smell.
Q5 - as for 28 liners and the quality we get, is good value for money.
Q6 - I will definitely buy them in the future and will recommend to someone who is suffering from urine leakage.
