Mine arrived Grin

Will post proper feedback later, but can already report that dd scoffed an entire pack (the sour cream ones) minus one crisp which I managed to snaffle. She loves them!

Very very nice so far, and will answer the questions in full when they're all tried.

Guaparesaca · 01/09/2011 15:54

Really eye catching packaging, really tasty, crunchy, nice flavours which were unusual without being too outlandish. My family and I just sampled them, we definitely enjoyed them, something a bit different from the usual suspects. IE- Quavers/Skips)

My DH states "Really bland version of Frazzles" but I disagree- they are light, really crunchy, nice lower fat alternative to crisps.

I liked the Onion & Rosemary flavour but also the Sea salted, would be lovely to dip into salsa (though probably then negates their low fat nature if you were to choose a creamy one!) We'd love to see some flavours for carnivores- maybe prosciutto & mustard or beef & pickle.

They taste less low fat compared to say Snackajacks, if decanted into a bowl to serve to houseguests, they'd not know they were 'healthier' snacks.

Yes, I would happily recommend and have done so already ! I introduced them to SBs the other week- lunch at a friend's house, I produced a bag of M&S sour cream & black pepper snacks- they ARE one in the same, are they not ?! Everyone agreed that they are really tasty and moreish ! They were devoured in no time at all !

Mine haven't arrived yet....

kingprawntikka · 01/09/2011 16:04

Mine haven't come yet either.

NewbeeMummy · 01/09/2011 16:58

oooh have people got theirs already - hopefully mine have arrived and DP and DD haven't eaten them already

purpleknittingmum · 01/09/2011 19:07

nothing here yet either, looking forward to them!

TheSkiingGardener · 01/09/2011 19:08

Hurrah, got mine today.

I've only tried the salt ones so far and they are ok but I can taste wheat stuff, oil and salt, and I'm not sure that I like the slight oil taste.

Like the packaging, but it's very similar to all the other "We're not crisps, we're healthy" packaging so it's hard to differentiate at all.

I'll try the other flavours and answer the questions properly!

larakitten · 01/09/2011 19:09

Righto, in the name of science we I have scoffed the lot.

Firstly, i didn't think I was going to like them. The reason being that the picture of them on the packet made them look like those horrid bacon frazzle things that you eat and then instantly regret as the taste stays with you for hours and beyond (bacon burps - yuck!) However, we loved them. I really did think they were going to be overpowering in the flavour but was pleasantly surprised that bar the chilli ones, there was no lingering aftertaste. We have seen them on the supermarket shelves but have never bought them for some reason - I think the frazzle-esque picture puts us off plus they never seem to be on offer

So, the questions.
1)Overall impression - loved the matt packaging, liked how they looked expensive and the packet had a nice satisfying "crackle" to it. Disliked the picture though due to horrid bacon frazzle connection. We enjoyed eating them - they were light, non greasy, crispy and flavoursome without being overpowering.
2)I would describe them as a light, healthy (ish!!) snack - a smaller, lighter, crispier tortilla. I would also say they were wholegrain.
3) I loved the rosemary ones - unique flavour and so tasty. Also loved the salted ones and sour cream - really not struck on the chilli ones though as they left a strong aftertaste which I hate.
4) I think Sunbites are different from a regular crisp mainly as they are less greasy. They're so light and tasty - you wouldn't know they were a "healthy" snack at all.

5) Yes, I would recommend these to a friend - healthy, my DD loved them so fine for kids and unique flavours.

So, overall we liked them. My DH loved the chilli ones but then he likes spicy food whereas I don't. My favourite was the rosemary ones, and my DD loved the sour cream (she's 3). Like the packaging, hate the association (in my mind ) with frazzles. A nice snack that I would buy now I have actually tasted them.

Thanks!

Doobydoo · 01/09/2011 19:09

Haven't got ours yet either

cjbartlett · 01/09/2011 19:22

Q1 What was your overall impression of the product? Did you enjoy eating them or not? If so, why? If not, why not?

loved the look of them, the taste, the packaging

Q2 How would you describe Sunbites to a friend who didn't know what they were?

a new yummy crisp snack on the Market
Q3 Which flavour did you like the most? Are there any other flavours you'd like to see in the range?

I liked the chilli ones the best. Would love to see prawn cocktail as they're my favourite

They're wholewheat.

Q5 If it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend Sunbites to your friends? If so, why? If not, why not?

I would but as ever it will depend on the price. The price of a packet of ordinary individual walkers crisps is pretty hefty and most of us are skint

belledechocchipcookie · 01/09/2011 19:24

I have crisps! I will return when I've scoffed eaten them all. The chilli ones are fab though but son has complained about the flavours, he's a salt and vinegar/prawn cocktail sort of kid so is feeling left out.

TheLadyEvenstar · 01/09/2011 19:33

Q1 What was your overall impression of the product? Did you enjoy eating them or not? If so, why? If not, why not?

I was overall impressed. If I am honest I thought it would be impossible to get my DC to try them but it wasn't Grin

Q2 How would you describe Sunbites to a friend who didn't know what they were?

A very healthy alternative to crisps but just as crunchy.

Q3 Which flavour did you like the most? Are there any other flavours you'd like to see in the range?

I had the sour cream and the Cheese ones, DS1 had the chilli ones, DS2 had the others they were a hit all round.

Q4 Thinking about Sunbites in comparison to other snacks, can you think of one feature which makes Sunbites different? If so, what is it?

As others have said I would not be worried about eating these in front of the children except maybe I would begrudge sharing them as they are so yummy. However the DC are lovers of crisps and I will be encouraging these over normal ones.

Q5 If it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend Sunbites to your friends? If so, why? If not, why not

Yes I would am impressed they are an overall good product, tasty and healthy

NormaStanleyFletcher · 01/09/2011 19:38

Mine arrived today

We are having a family tasting session tomorrow.

Will report back then

thecatatemygymsuit · 01/09/2011 19:38

Hello!
Q1 What was your overall impression of the product? Did you enjoy eating them or not? If so, why? If not, why not?

Nice packaging, although they seemed a little on the meagre side! Yes, they were quite scrummy, although could have been more flavoursome. I was almost disappointed they didn't taste more Frazzle-like! But I am more likely to buy them than a standard packet of crisps.

Q2 How would you describe Sunbites to a friend who didn't know what they were?

A lower-fat and healthy (ish) crispy snack, suitable for young children.

Q3 Which flavour did you like the most? Are there any other flavours you'd like to see in the range?

Onion and rosemary, delicious. Wanted to love the chilli but it just wasn't hot enough for me. I am a girl who likes it hot! Comments from DP were that he thought they's be more potato-y (he is a solid cheese and onion man through and through though). 4 year old DD pronounced the sour cream flavour delicious.

Q4 Thinking about Sunbites in comparison to other snacks, can you think of one feature which makes Sunbites different? If so, what is it?
They seem lighter and somehow fresher than crisps, if that makes sense.

Q5 If it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend Sunbites to your friends? If so, why? If not, why not?
Probably, in a kind of 'these are a nice snacky thing' way. They are on a par with snack a jacks, which is a good thing as I'm not a traditional crisp fan.

newbielisa · 01/09/2011 19:45

just marking my place

Hulababy · 01/09/2011 19:47

Got my red delivery card today whilst I was at work.

SockMunkee · 01/09/2011 19:49

Got my packets today, not tried any yet

givemeadvice · 01/09/2011 19:53

Tasting session held as a family today. Panel consisted of DH, DS (9), DS (6) and me.
Q1 Overall impression:funky packaging - bright and appealing. They are delicious according to some of the family, light, tasty and crunchy. Kids love the crunch. Packs are full enough (this depends on price though). DH thinks the flavours aren't strong enough for him. Kids love the flavours.

Q2 I would describe them as light and healthy alternative to crisps and wholegrain too!

Q3 DS(6) favourite sea salted as he isn't into strong flavours. DS (9) likes Sour cream and so did I. DH didn't like any. We would like to see salt and vinegar as this is our favourite crisps flavour (apart from DS (6) who loves ready salted).

Q4 they are different as they are wholegrain and not greasy - they taste healthier!

Q5 I would recommend, especially for pack lunches as they are healthier than crisps.
Our family think these aren't for people who enjoy strong flavours, ideal for children though.

chickydoo · 01/09/2011 19:54

Loved them all.
Cheese one's a bit too strong for youngest
Rosemary ones, nice but could have done with more rosemary, couldn't really taste it. On the whole great crisps
Thanks very much

iklboo · 01/09/2011 19:56

Don't seem to have had mine delivered yet Sad

tobecalm · 01/09/2011 19:56

My packets arrived today too. My first impressions are that I like the packaging (the matte effect is a bit different) and I'm looking forward to having them as a snack tomorrow at work, for a bit of a treat! :)

TheOriginalFAB · 01/09/2011 19:57

I had an email to say I had been chosen but haven't received them yet.

LawrieMarlow · 01/09/2011 20:04

Nothing here either

TheMagnificentBathykolpian · 01/09/2011 20:16

Q1 What was your overall impression of the product? Did you enjoy eating them or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
I loved eating them! Grin First impressions - nice packets. Looked inviting.as with all crisps though - the packet is far bigger than it needs to be! Nobody is fooled! Wink
I think the colours suit the flavours
I like the clear nutritional information on the front of the pack
you should have allergy advice on the front too though

Q2 How would you describe Sunbites to a friend who didn't know what they were?

Like crisps, but crunchier and healthier. Look a bit cardboardy but don't let that put you off!

Q3 Which flavour did you like the most? Are there any other flavours you'd like to see in the range?
Onion & rosemary was my favourite. Loved it!
chilli - nice taste at first, horrible aftertaste. I wouldn't buy those.
sea salt - very nice. subtle flavour
sour cream - nice enough but tasted a bit cheesy rather than sour cream(y). could really taste the black pepper though. it overwhelmed the other flavours a lot. Could do with tweaking that a bit.
chedder & onion - very cheesy, and powdery, iyswim. not very oniony. didn't much care for it.

Other flavours - I bet a popcorny flavour would be nice. They don't all have to be crisp flavours, do they? Something like a toffee would probably be lovely. Paprika. I bet that would be nice too. What about fruity flavours? something like apple would count as one of my 5 a day Wink

Q4 Thinking about Sunbites in comparison to other snacks, can you think of one feature which makes Sunbites different? If so, what is it?
different combination of flavours.

Q5 If it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend Sunbites to your friends? If so, why? If not, why not?
Oh yes. They are healthier than crisps and crunchier too.

If you're reading this, feel free to send me some more, for a more detailed review Wink

Eddas · 01/09/2011 20:20

Mine were delivered yesterday but i'm saving them for a few days as I had an op last week which has knocked out my taste so my testing wouldn't be a lot of use right now BlushGrin They look great though, love the packaging.
