Mine arrived this morning and purely in the name of research have started them. Early lunch?!

Q1 Have tried only one flavour so far, am aiming to save the rest to share when DCs and DH returns home. Time will tell! Grin Sour cream was surprisingly nice. Flavoursome without being OTT. Packaging was good, though the bag seemed small or is that where the 30% less fat comes in?

Q2 Crinkly wheat crisps. Tasty and not too bad for you!

Q3 Will get back to you on the other flavours but sour cream was lovely. Im a big fan of vinegar flavoured crisps so sea salt and balsamic vinegar would be my request.

Q4 Theyre 'almost' crisp like. As someone up-thread said, crisps are crispy but often the 'healthier' option is notso. Sunbites come very close to the proper texture of a crisp.

Q5 So far, yes i would.

Can't wait. Our postman delivers our stuff last, just before he knocks off work.
He lives opposite.

Just had the sour cream ones.

Good flavour.

I noticed the texture more in this packet (perhaps because DS wasn't stealing them from me faster that I could get them in my gob Grin) they are crispy, which is good, but very textured and I still have bits stuck in my teeth. Not necessarily a bad thing, and does add to the 'healthier' feeling but a bit irritating.

Will continue by blow-by-blow report with the next pack.

We really enjoyed the SunBites, especially the Sweet Chilli flavour.

Sunbites are a wheaty crisp, the flavours are quite strong (except for the salted) and they are very moreish.

We loved the sweet chilli flavour. Salt, Cheddar and Sour Cream flavours are nice too. We didn't like the Onion & Rosemary ones. We think that a Paprika or tomato flavour would be nice.

They seem more substantial than some other snacks, you can get your teeth into them.

I would recommend sunbites (except the Onion & Rosemary flavour).

ours have arrived - ds2 answered the door to the postman so I wasn't able to scoff them all by myself.
We've already shared the salted and the chilli ones - I love the salted ones. Absolutely gorgeous. Would be great with dips. ds2 preferred the chilli ones. Will certainly be buying them again - hope Walkers are going to sell them in large packs as well so that I can use the salted ones in place of tortilla chips.

Ds and I have just sampled a few of each flavour. :)

Q1 What was your overall impression of the product? Did you enjoy eating them or not? If so, why? If not, why not?

Ds and I tried each flavour seperately, we enjoyed the cheddar flavour the best. The crunchy texture was good and the packaging was very nice.

Q2 How would you describe Sunbites to a friend who didn't know what they were?

I would say they were a light, healthy alternative to a crisp in a choice of delicious flavours.

Q3 Which flavour did you like the most? Are there any other flavours you'd like to see in the range?

Ds and I preferred the Cheddar flavour, but the sweet chilli was a close second. I think I would like to see a paprika flavour.

Q4 Thinking about Sunbites in comparison to other snacks, can you think of one feature which makes Sunbites different? If so, what is it?

They seem lighter on your stomach, and the flavours are tastier.

Q5 If it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend Sunbites to your friends? If so, why? If not, why not?

I would recommend them to a friend, but I do think the sugar content seems high. I would not recommend the Onion and Rosemary as I really did not enjoy them.

  1. Overall impression.

We liked these becasue they were crunchy and not oily/greasy like ordinary crisps. DD1 thought they were too crispy.
  1. Describe Sunbites to a friend.

Healthy/healthier crisps. A bit like tortilla crisps.
  1. Favourite flavour.

Mixed bag of views. Depends on individual taste I think. Overall favourite woudl be sour cream and chives. DH would like "meaty" flavours. DD1 would like a salt and vinegar crisps.
  1. Different feature.

Wholegrain, so they seem healthier. "Posh" flavours rather than "ordinary flavours.
  1. Recommend?

Yes

But, whether we actually buy these depends on the price tag. We'd pay the same as ordinary crisps, but not more.

Q1 What was your overall impression of the product? Did you enjoy eating them or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
They were a lot more like crisps than I expected them to be from the blurb. Not as healthy as I had hoped. I thought they would be baked not fried. But I actually enjoyed them. I would not give these to the children as I don't think they are a healthy snack.

Q2 How would you describe Sunbites to a friend who didn't know what they were?
A cross between tortilla chips and crisps, with crisp type flavours and deep fried.

Q3 Which flavour did you like the most? Are there any other flavours you'd like to see in the range?
Liked chilli. Slightly salted was too salty.

Q4 Thinking about Sunbites in comparison to other snacks, can you think of one feature which makes Sunbites different? If so, what is it?
I wondered whether they might be lower GI than crisps, but there was nothing on the packet about this so I'm not sure.

Q5 If it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend Sunbites to your friends? If so, why? If not, why not?
No. I just don't think they are very different to crisps.

Q1 What was your overall impression of the product? Did you enjoy eating them or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
I quite enjoyed them. I didn't feel like I was eating crisps, but something like a cracker. They're pleasant enough. I didn't find them extra crunchy, they're harder than standard crisps and sort of biscuity.

Q2 How would you describe Sunbites to a friend who didn't know what they were?
Cracker-type snacks, grainy, but like thin oatcakes.

Q3 Which flavour did you like the most? Are there any other flavours you'd like to see in the range?
I liked the ready salted, although I found that all flavours were slightly sweet, bizarrely. Salt and vinegar would be my choice of an additional flavour, the vinegar might cut some of the sweetness.

Q4 Thinking about Sunbites in comparison to other snacks, can you think of one feature which makes Sunbites different? If so, what is it?
They're a completely different texture to crisps, definitely more of a flavoured snack cracker, so something different to other products I've seen.

Q5 If it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend Sunbites to your friends? If so, why? If not, why not?
Possibly, if a friend was looking for a lower fat alternative to potato crisps and didn't enjoy French Fries and those types of snacks that are lower in fat than Sunbites.

mmmmm just arrived and the boys and I dived on them!

Lightly salted packet first....

Q1 What was your overall impression of the product? Did you enjoy eating them or not? If so, why? If not, why not?

DS1 and DS2 aged 9 and 6 both loved them. I thought the packaging was lovely and a bit different. DS1 thought they were delicious tho sour to start with and DS2 agrees with him. I could eat a whole packet.

Q2 How would you describe Sunbites to a friend who didn't know what they were?

A crunchy snack more like tortillas than crisps.

Q3 Which flavour did you like the most? Are there any other flavours you'd like to see in the range?

Just tried salted today. More later when DH is home.

Q4 Thinking about Sunbites in comparison to other snacks, can you think of one feature which makes Sunbites different? If so, what is it?

Agree with other posters - seem like a posher crisp and more interesting flavours.

Q5 If it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend Sunbites to your friends? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes - recommended. Very tasty. No aftertaste. YUM!

Right, having diligently tried all 5 flavours with DD & DS...

Q1 What was your overall impression of the product? Did you enjoy eating them or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
Enjoyed them, like the lightness and crispiness, and the packaging.

Q2 How would you describe Sunbites to a friend who didn't know what they were?
Like crisps, but without the cold, greasy mouth feel, and, erm, crispier. Also, subtler flavours on the whole, not salty

Q3 Which flavour did you like the most? Are there any other flavours you'd like to see in the range?
Onion & Rosemary/Sea Salted were my favourites. DD said the cheddar ones tasted like Quavers, and that the sour cream ones tasted 'disgusting, like yogurt on crisps'.
Would like to see some kind of vinegar/pickle flavour please.

Q4 Thinking about Sunbites in comparison to other snacks, can you think of one feature which makes Sunbites different?
Very crispy and don't taste/feel oily/greasy.

Q5 If it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend Sunbites to your friends? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes, as I prefer Sunbites to other crisps. Would recommend them as child snack too, as lower fat and subtler flavours.

Thanks and good luck with the prize draw!

Mine were delivered while we were having lunch, excellent timing!

Only tried cheese and onion flavour so I'll be back later, but thought I'd at least do some of the broader questions!

Q1 What was your overall impression of the product? Did you enjoy eating them
or not? If so, why? If not, why not?

Really nice packaging in soothing colours. Very tasty and crisp, agree with whomever said they were like Doritos. Were a big hit with everyone, including me and I don't usually like cheese and onion flavours!

Q2 How would you describe Sunbites to a friend who didn't know what they were?

Crispy, airy crisps with a good flavour.

Q3 Which flavour did you like the most? Are there any other flavours you'd like to see in the range?

Haven't tried them all yet, so I'll answer this again later. But I would love Salt and Vinegar!

Q4 Thinking about Sunbites in comparison to other snacks, can you think of one feature which makes Sunbites different? If so, what is it?

The flavours don't taste of chemicals!

Q5 If it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend Sunbites to your friends? If so, why? If not, why not?

yes

Back later!

We got ours 10 minutes ago, and they've all gone already!

The packaging looks lovely, makes them seem a bit more upmarket than ordinary crisps, and the sunbites themselves look "naicer" than crisps.
We did a scientific taste test (we being me, ds1, dd and ds2) by tasting one or two crisps from each bag.
We all liked the fact that they were very crunchy, and that the flavored weren't too overpowering. Ds1 compared them to very thin doritos, but with nicer flavours.
I would describe them as wheaty crisps, that taste healthier than crisps.
We all loved the sour cream and the cheddar ones (the cheddar ones are so much nicer than cheese n onion crisps). Rosemary ones and salted were nice. None of us liked the chilli ones. I found them too sweet for a savoury snack, and despite trying other flavours since, I can still taste them, and it's not pleasant!
I would like to see a variation on salt and vinegar, and I think a tomatoey one would be lovely.
I would definitely recommend them.

Thankyou very much :)

I have just got mine so will post feedback when I've tasted them all. First impressions are :

Good packaging...I like the more 'expensive' feel to the pack
Interesting flavours.....all sound tasty but not too way out, i.e. Walkers breakfast ones don't do it for me.

Looking forward to tucking in.

Okay, here goes with the posey family feedback Smile
Testers were me, age 40+, dd age 14 and ds age 8.
We all tried a couple from each packet.

  1. We all thought the packaging was very attractive, nice colours, I thought quite "classy" looking (dd really laughed at my choice of word!)
Our general impression on eating them was "they were okay", none of us actively dislike or loved them.

  2. they were like crunchy Frazzles with the texture of Doritoes.

  3. We all liked the Cheddar and onion ones best, with sour cream and pepper a close second. Sea salt ones were pretty tasteless and rather bland. The onion and rosemary ones tasted like a lamb roast dinner! Myself and dd quite liked the chili ones, ds hated them

  4. They are more like the type of snack you would have in a bowl with a dip. I found them a bit dry and didn't want more than a taste of each flavour. I wouldn't buy them just to eat as a snack like a bag of crisps but would be tempted as a sort of dippy snack to go with drinks.

  5. As above really. Neither of the children was desperate to finish any of the packs.

Sorry it sounds a bit negative. Thanks for letting us test though. Guess you can't expect all positive feedback. Now am off to read whole thread and see what everyone else thought.
