Q1 What was your overall impression of the product? Did you enjoy eating them or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
Our tasting panel included me, DH, MIL, and DD (5).
MIL, DD and I found them generally pleasant to eat. DH disliked them and found them a bit flavourless. My main criticism would be that they are all a bit sweet, and MIL agreed with me that they all have a bit of a strong aftertaste, even the Sea Salted ones. Everyone agreed that the texture was very good though.
Q2 How would you describe Sunbites to a friend who didn't know what they were?
Like flat crinkly Wheat Crunchies, with a dash of tortilla chip. They also remind me of those little cone-shaped crisps you get on the continent, not sure what they're called.
Q3 Which flavour did you like the most? Are there any other flavours you'd like to see in the range?
We all had different favourites - DD liked Sea Salted, I liked Onion & Rosemary, MIL liked Cheddar and Onion. DD disliked Sweet Chilli as she's very sensitive to 'hot'. I'd like to try Sea Salted but without the coating of milk powder and sugar. Also maybe a Lemon and Chilli one (with no sugar!).
Q4 Thinking about Sunbites in comparison to other snacks, can you think of one feature which makes Sunbites different? If so, what is it?
The wholegrain content combined with lower fat and salt I suppose.
However I do think those pluses are cancelled out a bit by the sugar content. It's also a shame when snacks like these contain dairy as some children are sensitive / allergic to dairy and it's a bit of a 'hidden' ingredient here.
Q5 If it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend Sunbites to your friends? If so, why? If not, why not?
Probably not - they aren't healthy enough to be a 'proper' healthy snack, so I'd rather have a packet of Walkers plain crisps as they aren't sweet and don't have an aftertaste.
tbh I do like saltiness in a snack and these seem to be a bit overloaded with other things, including sugar, to hide the fact they aren't as salty as they'd normally be. Having said that they are pleasant enough and I'd happily eat a pack in a pub if someone put them on the table.
