We have a very exciting product test for you...We've been asked by Samsung to find 30 Mumsnetters to try out their new G-Series American-style fridge freezer (average selling price £1,800) in their home and give feedback on Talk. Everyone who is selected to take part and adds their feedback will get to keep the fridge freezer forever!

This is what Samsung says about the product: "With the new G-Series three door American-style fridge freezer, you will get lots more storage space thanks to thin wall insulation technology. You also get the benefit of some really clever features, all designed to make your life easier. A plumbed dispenser gives you chilled and filtered ice and water on tap, foldable shelves mean you can fit all your food and drink in irrespective of their size, shape, width or breadth, and FreshSafe Vegetable drawers give you the best humidity levels to preserve vitamins and nutrients in any fruits and vegetables you?re storing. Even better is the CoolSelect Pantry which acts as a mini fridge within a fridge. It?s an independently controlled drawer which can be set to three different temperatures, so you can be sure you are storing your food at the right temperature."

There are a number of criteria for taking part in this project - to take part you must:

  • Live in mainland UK
  • Be willing to provide two lots of feedback (once when the fridge freezer has just been delivered and again after a couple of months) which will appear on MN and may be used for marketing by Samsung (they will link to the feedback thread from their website - you can namechange for the feedback if you like)
  • Be available at home for one weekday in the next 2-3 weeks (date to be arranged with Samsung) for delivery
  • Have space, electricity and a cold water supply (for ice and water dispenser) for a fridge freezer this size in your kitchen (or wherever it would live) - click here for more information on dimensions etc

If you are selected to take part, the fridge freezer will be delivered free of charge but Samsung aren't able to remove any old appliances so you would need to arrange for any existing fridge freezer occupying the space to be removed yourself.

You will get to keep the new fridge freezer once the product test is finished - so long as you add at least 2 lots of feedback on Mumsnet. Feedback will focus on overall impressions of the fridge freezer, the flexibility of the storage space inside it, any features you particularly like etc.

If you are interested in taking part please sign up here.

Thanks

tether, the tubing is at least 4m long. The distance from our new ff to the water supply is 3.55m and we have plenty of tubing to spare.

TheRealMBJ · 21/07/2011 16:09

And mine is on!

GetOrfMoiLand · 21/07/2011 16:10

Alouise I cannot believe you hadn't heard of an a la carte kitchen - it was like Louboutins for little girls in the early 80s here

You will be able to hear me clattering out of various Chigwell bars from your garden, probably Grin

pengymum · 21/07/2011 16:14

Hellooo! Mine is due tomorrow between 12 - 2pm! I am soooo excited!
Is time up yet MadameBoo? Can u put a pic up? Grin
I have to make some space to put it as we can't put it in it's final position until the plumbing is sorted - which means taking out washing machine or dishwasher first as water pipes are all behind! Plumber can't come till next week and then we go away so will be on its ownsome! Hope it doesn't get lonely!
May have to cut trip short and come back to keep it company! Blush

pengymum · 21/07/2011 16:18

Congratulations MBJ! How are you feeling after your new arrival?
And for the record, I didn't have an a la carte kitchen, or a big yellow teapot or anything! I had one doll and that was the sum total of my toys! Oh and I had a bike but it got nicked... So I think I was due some good karma!

Al0uiseG · 21/07/2011 16:34

Getorf, im 10 years older than you! They hadn't invented plastic then. Have a lovely time in Chigwell, spray tan booked Wink?

TheRealMBJ · 21/07/2011 16:41

pengy you may find that you don't need to do all that. The tubing is really quite thin and attaching it to the water supply seems like an easy job.

MadameBoo · 21/07/2011 16:45

I have switched mine on 30 minutes early. I couldn't wait. It makes a tinkly noise when you press the fridge button. I'm so delighted. I may sleep in the kitchen tonight.

MadameBoo · 21/07/2011 16:46

Pengy I will put a pic up for you in a little while.

Thanks MBJ but we laid laminate floor when we moved in and I think we will need to take it up before we can start moving machines to access the water pipe. Not a huge job but the delivery chappies are not likely to do it as will take quite a bit of time. I have family lined up to help at weekend - Mum & me to cook, Dad & DBs to help OH, DS1 to take kids off. I should have asked them to deliver fridge next week after this was done but .... you know how it is!
OH thinks this is a scam email and I won't be getting anything! Confused
Anyway back to the fridge - Is it up and running? Have you tested it out yet?

pengymum · 21/07/2011 17:17

sorry Al0uiseG - I feel your pain!
Wink Grin MadameBoo! Thank you - I'm wondering if I should turf OH out of the marital bedroom and install fridgypie there? Then it could whisper sweet nothings to me all night...

MadameBoo · 21/07/2011 17:17

Waiting for the freezer to go down to the correct temp. Fridge is sorted. The first thing I put in there was a bottle of Moet et Chandon we've had in the cupboard waiting for a special occasion.

Alouise hide thread? Wink

pengymum · 21/07/2011 18:15

Cheers!

NewGirlHelenMumsnet · 21/07/2011 19:59

MBJ - here's the response I've had from the delivery company via Samsung:

?I have just been advised by Sprint that on further questioning of the driver on his return to the depot, it would appear that the missing part was the valve on the customers cold water feed. This needs to be rectified by the customer?s plumber."

Sounds like you need to get DH down to the hardware shop!

Others with queries re: 4 metres vs. 1 metre - here's reiterated confirmation from Samsung "4m will be fine, the closer the better as you will get a quicker supply of water to the product."

DirtyMartini - sorry I don't have a contact for the delivery company. Now that they've delivered a few hopefully they'll send enough people to get it in.

Additional response from Samsung just in...

"If the water connection is say on the other side of the room from the product then you will get the water line running across the floor. We as Samsung will not be able to hide the line or dig up floorboards to make the room look neater, this will be up to the testers.

The delivery team will install and connect the product to the water supply only."

TheRealMBJ · 21/07/2011 20:34

Thanks Helen Wink I told DH to stop on his way home and his bought it home. It was obviously a miscommunication.

We will have our fridge finally connected (neatly as we already made way for the line last night and the delivery guys laid it out nicely along the path to the water supply) and dispensing cold water and ice by the morning.

I have just finished transferring all our food from the old fridge and freezer into my new shiny baby. And we will definitely be visiting Waitrose tomorrow to stock up.

pengymum · 21/07/2011 22:49

Ooerr! Does it have to be Waitrose from now on? Can't we fill this beauty with less supermarket brands? :P

Monty27 · 22/07/2011 10:23

Mine is being delivered between 8am and 10am tomorrow.

So excited Grin

LemonEmmaP · 22/07/2011 11:10

Ooh, Monty, mine is coming tomorrow between 10am and 12. Perhaps mine is the next delivery after yours...make sure you let them get away on time, eh????

WhipMeIndiana · 22/07/2011 11:50

Lidl lamb chops will go in, won't they?? Grin

mygirllollipop · 22/07/2011 12:12

Hurry up next hour and 48 minutes.
I have a supermarket shop planned for tomorrow, to see how much stuff will fit in there. Am still seriously considering a party in honour of it (with much wine and other alcohol!).

TheRealMBJ · 22/07/2011 12:52

Our ff is plumbed in and dispensing iced water is Grin. Have to wait 24hrs for the ice though Sad

pengymum · 22/07/2011 13:04

Fridgypie is here! Mwah, mwah, mwah! We have been formally introduced and I must say he is a dashed handsome beast! (swoon)

I have decided to rearrange all the furniture, to show off the new arrival in a better configuration, so the house is a total shambles! Also decided to steam clean behind where he is going to live so is spotless, as is befitting a fridge of this stature.

And it has wheels so you can manoeuvre it easily to clean behind! No more cobweb collections festooned behind!

Ok enough of the rambling, better get cleaning! And need to find/read the manual (am sad like that!)
Q for Mumsnet: (Wine Thank you, thank you, thank you again! Grin)
Is there going to be a new feedback thread or how/when do we give our feedback?

RockinSockBunnies · 22/07/2011 13:30

Ours is coming between 7am and 9am tomorrow.....so will have the day to fill it with lovely things!
