We have a very exciting product test for you...We've been asked by Samsung to find 30 Mumsnetters to try out their new G-Series American-style fridge freezer (average selling price £1,800) in their home and give feedback on Talk. Everyone who is selected to take part and adds their feedback will get to keep the fridge freezer forever!

This is what Samsung says about the product: "With the new G-Series three door American-style fridge freezer, you will get lots more storage space thanks to thin wall insulation technology. You also get the benefit of some really clever features, all designed to make your life easier. A plumbed dispenser gives you chilled and filtered ice and water on tap, foldable shelves mean you can fit all your food and drink in irrespective of their size, shape, width or breadth, and FreshSafe Vegetable drawers give you the best humidity levels to preserve vitamins and nutrients in any fruits and vegetables you?re storing. Even better is the CoolSelect Pantry which acts as a mini fridge within a fridge. It?s an independently controlled drawer which can be set to three different temperatures, so you can be sure you are storing your food at the right temperature."

There are a number of criteria for taking part in this project - to take part you must:

  • Live in mainland UK
  • Be willing to provide two lots of feedback (once when the fridge freezer has just been delivered and again after a couple of months) which will appear on MN and may be used for marketing by Samsung (they will link to the feedback thread from their website - you can namechange for the feedback if you like)
  • Be available at home for one weekday in the next 2-3 weeks (date to be arranged with Samsung) for delivery
  • Have space, electricity and a cold water supply (for ice and water dispenser) for a fridge freezer this size in your kitchen (or wherever it would live) - click here for more information on dimensions etc

If you are selected to take part, the fridge freezer will be delivered free of charge but Samsung aren't able to remove any old appliances so you would need to arrange for any existing fridge freezer occupying the space to be removed yourself.

You will get to keep the new fridge freezer once the product test is finished - so long as you add at least 2 lots of feedback on Mumsnet. Feedback will focus on overall impressions of the fridge freezer, the flexibility of the storage space inside it, any features you particularly like etc.

If you are interested in taking part please sign up here.

Thanks

Mine is being delivered between 7am and 9am on Monday - that's 1 way to get DD out of bed Wink

Monty27 · 22/07/2011 14:43

Lemon oh I do hope they're in and out :) They have easy access through my side gate straight through the kitchen door to where his Fridginess is destined live, which is already immaculately cleared for the delivery.

Rockin I wonder if you're the one before me ....

pengy rofl @ Fridgypie

I'm getting more and more excited. Grin

pengymum · 22/07/2011 16:45

Thanks for info NewGirlHelenMumsnet.
(& Thank you very very much Samsung for Fridgypie!)

Monty27: The Sprint delivery men (3 of them) are very nice! Not your usual class of delivery men! But then they are delivering a quality product! They phoned to let me know when they would be there - 11.30 instead of 12 and I wasn't quite ready for them but they kindly helped me move some shelves out of the way to get enough room for Fridgypie to get in. Has to take doors off and drawers out first but it all went smoothly. Did take a while to disassemble and then reassemble. Sun came out and they got a bit hot out there so I made some drinks for them. They didn't connect up as I have to clean the spot Blush and get the water supply routed under floorboards. It is a small tube but I would rather have it concealed. That is Mr Skeptical's (aka OH) task for the weekend!
Grin @ His Fridginess!

Now I have to find rehome Fridgypie's predecessor ... parting is such sweet sorrow!

mygirllollipop · 22/07/2011 16:59

Well ours is in, the delivery guys are extremely helpful and had it all set up within 25mins of arriving including maneuvering my twisty stairs.

Can switch on in 50mins' time, then will sort the water and ice out.
Can't wait to go shopping to fill it up.

Pengy - think we must have had the same delivery team. There were 3 of them and they 'phoned to give time about an hour beforehand. They said they'd done one yesterday and another team had done one yesterday and 2 today.

mygirllollipop · 22/07/2011 17:12

Ooops forgot to say:
The water tubing is 4m long, but we needed a Y-adaptor for the water to work, so DH went out and got one. Felt really bad as it went down as some sort of 'failure' for the delivery team.

pengymum · 22/07/2011 17:25

ooh thanks for that info about the Y-adaptor mygirllollipop, I can tell OH to get one when he gets home. Save him some headscratching!

TheRealMBJ · 22/07/2011 18:57

mylollipop I felt really bad too as we didn't have a stop-valve ready for them so they weren't able to complete the installation Sad. I had misunderstood cause otherwise we would I would just have got DH to fit one the night before.

They were really helpful, friendly guys and so keen to do a good job and make a good impression. I really couldn't fault them.

I had just to guys a Yorkshireman and a Scouser. Usually delivery men are so surly and these were just the right level of chatty and professional. Will give Sprint deliveries 10/10 if asked.

WhipMeIndiana · 22/07/2011 19:50

roll on monday Grin think Im after tequilamockingbird...

mygirllollipop · 22/07/2011 21:08

MBJ - one of 'my' delivery men was Scouse too.

We needed the Y-adaptor as we had a dishwasher connected, so to connect two things, that was what we needed.

If it was on, they would have completed the delivery and not got a fail Sad.

pengymum · 22/07/2011 21:44

Snap! Think we must've had the same delivery men! We can put feedback on www.sprintcare.com/feedback - I will be giving them 10/10 too! They were very good as MBJ said just the right level of chatty and professional! Well put MBJ.
They said they had another 6 of these beastie boys to deliver tomorrow. Hope is not too hot for them!

Wine cheers all!

Tequilamockinbird · 22/07/2011 22:31

WMI are you in the North East?

mygirllollipop · 22/07/2011 22:48

Pics on my profile of the big beauty.

Likesshinythings · 23/07/2011 09:11

The fridge of joy has arrived and, my, is it a beauty! Delivery men were lovely despite having to heave the fridge up four flights of stairs. Now counting down to switch on time.......

TheRealMBJ · 23/07/2011 09:38

We have ice!

Monty27 · 23/07/2011 10:17

His Fridginess is here but unfortunately not even switched on as I need some fitting on the pipe under the sink Confused. I had it in my mind the fitters would have done it (obviously not listening properly). So I'm feeling a bit vexed. :(

TheRealMBJ · 23/07/2011 10:37

Monty that's exactly what happened to me. It's called a self-cutting tap and you can get one from a plumber' supplier or B&Q/Homebase (although these are more expensive but come with instructions Grin)

DH bought one on his way home from work at Homebase on Thursday (about £13) and installed it himself yesterday morning (he's a DIY dunce - so anyone could do it, including me but I'm way too pregnant to crouch down for that long) and we connected it all in ourselves.

You really don't need a plumber for it.

Monty27 · 23/07/2011 11:04

Oh thanks MBJ I'll do that :)

Likesshinythings · 23/07/2011 11:12

Nice delivery men advised me against using the self-cutting tap as apparently they are a bit hit and miss. And if you don't get it right first time then you have a pipe with a hole in it and a bit of a problem!
Dh is a cautious type, so a plumber will be called.

LemonEmmaP · 23/07/2011 11:13

Sir Fridge is in! Slightly tight getting it there, but it made it.... We didn't manage to sort the plumbing in advance either, so will get that sorted over the next few days, then we too can have ice!

pengymum · 23/07/2011 12:21

mygirllollipop - looking good!
Congratulations to you all on your new arrivals!
Wine
I am still waiting for OH to get up go to plumbers merchant. Sad

TheRealMBJ · 23/07/2011 12:36

Grin Likesshineythings my DH is a complete cowboy. He'll give anything a go and NEVER reads instructions. That's why I made sure I was standing right over him when he was doing the installation. Directing.

Monty27 · 23/07/2011 13:25

Following Likeshineys post I've roped recruited my friend's dh to do the plumbing for me, they have theirs plumbed in and he did it himself.

I've switched it on though, has anyone else. without the plumbing done? I turned off the icemaker thing.

His Fridginess is a beauty Grin

RockinSockBunnies · 23/07/2011 13:55

Ours is standing beautifully in the kitchen. Plumber coming on Monday to connect it to the water, but it's switched on and being stocked up......The cat did a double take when she came into the kitchen....clearly she is as in awe of it as me!

Delivery men were lovely - all from Birmingham. We need a plumber to add some water thingy under the sink to run the water pipe from.

TheRealMBJ · 23/07/2011 14:09

I switched it on and turned the ice maker off just as you have done Monty.
