We have a very exciting product test for you...We've been asked by Samsung to find 30 Mumsnetters to try out their new G-Series American-style fridge freezer (average selling price £1,800) in their home and give feedback on Talk. Everyone who is selected to take part and adds their feedback will get to keep the fridge freezer forever!

This is what Samsung says about the product: "With the new G-Series three door American-style fridge freezer, you will get lots more storage space thanks to thin wall insulation technology. You also get the benefit of some really clever features, all designed to make your life easier. A plumbed dispenser gives you chilled and filtered ice and water on tap, foldable shelves mean you can fit all your food and drink in irrespective of their size, shape, width or breadth, and FreshSafe Vegetable drawers give you the best humidity levels to preserve vitamins and nutrients in any fruits and vegetables you?re storing. Even better is the CoolSelect Pantry which acts as a mini fridge within a fridge. It?s an independently controlled drawer which can be set to three different temperatures, so you can be sure you are storing your food at the right temperature."

There are a number of criteria for taking part in this project - to take part you must:

  • Live in mainland UK
  • Be willing to provide two lots of feedback (once when the fridge freezer has just been delivered and again after a couple of months) which will appear on MN and may be used for marketing by Samsung (they will link to the feedback thread from their website - you can namechange for the feedback if you like)
  • Be available at home for one weekday in the next 2-3 weeks (date to be arranged with Samsung) for delivery
  • Have space, electricity and a cold water supply (for ice and water dispenser) for a fridge freezer this size in your kitchen (or wherever it would live) - click here for more information on dimensions etc

If you are selected to take part, the fridge freezer will be delivered free of charge but Samsung aren't able to remove any old appliances so you would need to arrange for any existing fridge freezer occupying the space to be removed yourself.

You will get to keep the new fridge freezer once the product test is finished - so long as you add at least 2 lots of feedback on Mumsnet. Feedback will focus on overall impressions of the fridge freezer, the flexibility of the storage space inside it, any features you particularly like etc.

If you are interested in taking part please sign up here.

Thanks

TBH I'm just using it as an excuse to open some champers! And why not Wink

Pekkala · 21/07/2011 06:59

TheRealMBJ - are you getting yours today? I'm excited on your behalf! (Can't wait for next Fri!)

TheRealMBJ · 21/07/2011 08:39

I am!!!!! Grin

Isn't there some one else also getting their's today?

MadamBoo?

DirtyMartini · 21/07/2011 08:58

What time, TheRealMBJ? Just so we can share the anticipation Grin

Brilliant idea re champers, might have to get some in here too for next Fri. And celebratory ice lollies or something for DS, who keeps asking about "the big fridge".

muminthecity, I am also on 2nd floor with no lift, and a twisty Victorian stair to boot. They'll hate me. I know they can get it up here, though - we had an upright grand piano come up those stairs, and that's officially the world's most awkward and heavy item. Although thinking about it, there were eight guys carrying it, which is probably six more than Samsung are sending

MadameBoo · 21/07/2011 09:30

Yes it's me. Frantically moving things around so they can get it through the front door and living room to the kitchen. I don't think they are going to be able to connect the water today though so I'll have to wait until Wednesday to have it in it's full glory. I think it might be a bit too complicated but we can have a discussion about it anyway.

mygirllollipop · 21/07/2011 09:34

Got my text at 06.51 to say they are delivering between 12.00-14.00 tomorrow! Going to do an experiment to see about the amount of wine it can hold and if the crushed ice dispenser is any good at cocktail making, in fact thinking of holding a little party!

MadameBoo · 21/07/2011 09:35

They are coming here at 11. Suppose I'd better change out of my pyjamas :o

TheRealMBJ · 21/07/2011 09:37

It's coming between 10 and 12. So almost here Grin

GetOrfMoiLand · 21/07/2011 09:43

Thanks Helen.

We will have to have a cocktail party when all our fridges have been installed (let's invite alouise Grin).

My plumbing work is quite extensive - I am going to have pipes installed in the back of the kitchen units across two walls, then buried within some kind of installation along a third wall, before it can be connected to the fridge. So about 15M of piping to be installed. Plus I want the floorboards sanded and revarnished before the fridge arrives. DP is doing this all this weekend with his plumber friend, whilst I go on a piss up weekend to Essex.

MadameBoo · 21/07/2011 09:51

I hope they don't mind not installing it - my plumber friend wasn't free until Wednesday next week. I hope they don't take it away again

RockinSockBunnies · 21/07/2011 10:00

Ours arrives on Saturday! Perfect excuse for champagne!

TheRealMBJ · 21/07/2011 10:10

They won't MadamBoo they are a delivery company. They'll just drop it.

Mine is arriving at 11ish depending on traffic, apparently. I'm getting ever so nervous about them installing it. The distance is definitely less than 4m (we measured again last night) but you know...

MadameBoo · 21/07/2011 10:28

Thanks MBJ - I was imagining me weeping in my kitchen looking at the empty space where the fabulous fridge freezer of delight was going to go...

TheRealMBJ · 21/07/2011 10:31
Grin
TheRealMBJ · 21/07/2011 11:01

It's here!

MadameBoo · 21/07/2011 11:05

is it in? I am all nervous for some reason.

Al0uiseG · 21/07/2011 11:13

MadameBoo Please don't say that to the installer Wink

TheRealMBJ · 21/07/2011 11:18

Not yet. They're busy unloading it. Apparently the distance depends on how much line gets sent with ff. They are carrying it in in bits . Doors separately etc.

However, the delivery man has just told me that, he's never seen one of these before and that he was only told last night that he'd be delivering it. Also that try haven't sent all the necessary kit Sad. He seems quite flustered, poor guy and is just busy ringing his boss.

MadameBoo · 21/07/2011 11:18

It's fine, the space it's got to go into is massive. I'm just all paranoid I've measured it wrong. I'm sure it's fine Alouise, but do you want my address just in case? :o

MadameBoo · 21/07/2011 11:19

X-post MBJ. I'm not nervous at all now. :)

TheRealMBJ · 21/07/2011 11:36

I feel quite bad for the delivery guys at the moment. They are doing a fine job of putting the fridge together etc but it seems that they've been put under quite some pressure to 'do a good job' by the delivery company.

MadameBoo · 21/07/2011 12:04

Mine is due in ten minutes!

MadameBoo · 21/07/2011 12:21

It's here! Strange men in my house Wink

MadameBoo · 21/07/2011 12:22

They've got to take the doors off to get it into the house. I have made them a cup of tea. I'm lovely, me.

TheRealMBJ · 21/07/2011 12:27

They had to with mine too. They wanted coffee Grin. The 2 guys were lovely really and couldn't complete the install as they didn't have a shut-off valve that can apparently be bought at any plumber's merchants.

The suggestion is that they may send someone else up with the correct bit when they have received it from Samsung, although who knows how long that'll take.
