We have a very exciting product test for you...We've been asked by Samsung to find 30 Mumsnetters to try out their new G-Series American-style fridge freezer (average selling price £1,800) in their home and give feedback on Talk. Everyone who is selected to take part and adds their feedback will get to keep the fridge freezer forever!

This is what Samsung says about the product: "With the new G-Series three door American-style fridge freezer, you will get lots more storage space thanks to thin wall insulation technology. You also get the benefit of some really clever features, all designed to make your life easier. A plumbed dispenser gives you chilled and filtered ice and water on tap, foldable shelves mean you can fit all your food and drink in irrespective of their size, shape, width or breadth, and FreshSafe Vegetable drawers give you the best humidity levels to preserve vitamins and nutrients in any fruits and vegetables you?re storing. Even better is the CoolSelect Pantry which acts as a mini fridge within a fridge. It?s an independently controlled drawer which can be set to three different temperatures, so you can be sure you are storing your food at the right temperature."

There are a number of criteria for taking part in this project - to take part you must:

  • Live in mainland UK
  • Be willing to provide two lots of feedback (once when the fridge freezer has just been delivered and again after a couple of months) which will appear on MN and may be used for marketing by Samsung (they will link to the feedback thread from their website - you can namechange for the feedback if you like)
  • Be available at home for one weekday in the next 2-3 weeks (date to be arranged with Samsung) for delivery
  • Have space, electricity and a cold water supply (for ice and water dispenser) for a fridge freezer this size in your kitchen (or wherever it would live) - click here for more information on dimensions etc

If you are selected to take part, the fridge freezer will be delivered free of charge but Samsung aren't able to remove any old appliances so you would need to arrange for any existing fridge freezer occupying the space to be removed yourself.

You will get to keep the new fridge freezer once the product test is finished - so long as you add at least 2 lots of feedback on Mumsnet. Feedback will focus on overall impressions of the fridge freezer, the flexibility of the storage space inside it, any features you particularly like etc.

If you are interested in taking part please sign up here.

Thanks

Hmm... If it needs to be within a metre we will need to get the plumber in too. Bollocks, cause he's always very busy Sad. If within 4 metres, no problem, so distance is quite crucial here too. Fridge arrives on Thursday too and would love to have it all connected up immediately.

houseofheave · 19/07/2011 15:04

Mine is arriving on Monday.

DirtyMartini · 19/07/2011 15:25

Mine is arriving on Friday 29th, same as GetOrf.

Wossallthisthen about the 4m turning into 1m?! I think our hose will have to travel about 2m.

NewGirlHelenMumsnet · 19/07/2011 15:28

Have asked for clarification re: the plumbing - will get back to you...

NewGirlHelenMumsnet · 19/07/2011 15:38

Grin WhipMe! (I've always wanted to say that).

RockinSockBunnies · 20/07/2011 12:44

Just seen this - is 4 metres ok? Lady I spoke to at Samsung didn't contradict me when I said it was within 4 metres.

NewGirlHelenMumsnet · 20/07/2011 14:13

I've asked about the 4m queries - will get back to you as soon as Samsung tell me the answer

NewGirlHelenMumsnet · 20/07/2011 14:59

Samsung has just confirmed that the water supply can be up to 4 metres away from the space. It doesn't need to be within 1 metre.

That's great - will they do all the necessary plumbing bits for the connection too, or do we need to do that ourselves (or, as DP is not good at plumbingm, hire a plumber?) Thank you

madrush · 20/07/2011 15:03

Phew, 4m means it can go nearly anywhere on the kitchen. 1m would mean redoing whole kitchen around it. Would not be such a great prize in that case.

NewGirlHelenMumsnet · 20/07/2011 15:44

Re: connection, this is what Samsung says: "All components to connect to the water supply are included within the product. The delivery team will be connecting the appliances."

TheRealMBJ · 20/07/2011 16:11

Oh, Al0uiseG even if it had been 1m, I'd have gotten the plumber in ASAP Grin

Sorry Smile

MadameBoo · 20/07/2011 17:58

I've got a plumber friend coming to do it for us next Wednesday do it ourselves if it's too complicated for Samsung to work out tomorrow :)

Pekkala · 20/07/2011 19:04

I got the call yesterday - ours is coming Fri 29th too. (leaving this weekend to do the new vinyl floor). Can't wait.

WhipMeIndiana · 20/07/2011 19:43

can I get a S! A! M! S! U! N! G!
woooooooooooooooo!!

muminthecity · 20/07/2011 20:13

Finally got my call today, mine is coming Tuesday 26th, they said they will connect it all. They sounded slightly concerned about the fact that I live on the second floor and have no lift, but said that it won't be a problem. I can't wait! Grin

LaVitaBellissima · 20/07/2011 21:42

Mine's coming on the 29th too Grin

What about the floor, mine is 1m from the water supply across our kitchen do they put it under the floor?? Confused

Otherwise I'll have to move our whole kitchen around to have it on the same side of the wall as the water, does anyone know? it said within 4m but does that mean boxed in?

TheRealMBJ · 20/07/2011 21:47

They won't lift floor boards as far as I understand it. So you may need to expose those for them before they get there.

MrsKwazii · 20/07/2011 22:53

Mine is coming on Saturday! I am so excited. Have a bottle of bubbly ready to toast it's metallic beauty when it arrives Grin
