We have a very exciting product test for you...We've been asked by Samsung to find 30 Mumsnetters to try out their new G-Series American-style fridge freezer (average selling price £1,800) in their home and give feedback on Talk. Everyone who is selected to take part and adds their feedback will get to keep the fridge freezer forever!

This is what Samsung says about the product: "With the new G-Series three door American-style fridge freezer, you will get lots more storage space thanks to thin wall insulation technology. You also get the benefit of some really clever features, all designed to make your life easier. A plumbed dispenser gives you chilled and filtered ice and water on tap, foldable shelves mean you can fit all your food and drink in irrespective of their size, shape, width or breadth, and FreshSafe Vegetable drawers give you the best humidity levels to preserve vitamins and nutrients in any fruits and vegetables you?re storing. Even better is the CoolSelect Pantry which acts as a mini fridge within a fridge. It?s an independently controlled drawer which can be set to three different temperatures, so you can be sure you are storing your food at the right temperature."

There are a number of criteria for taking part in this project - to take part you must:

  • Live in mainland UK
  • Be willing to provide two lots of feedback (once when the fridge freezer has just been delivered and again after a couple of months) which will appear on MN and may be used for marketing by Samsung (they will link to the feedback thread from their website - you can namechange for the feedback if you like)
  • Be available at home for one weekday in the next 2-3 weeks (date to be arranged with Samsung) for delivery
  • Have space, electricity and a cold water supply (for ice and water dispenser) for a fridge freezer this size in your kitchen (or wherever it would live) - click here for more information on dimensions etc

If you are selected to take part, the fridge freezer will be delivered free of charge but Samsung aren't able to remove any old appliances so you would need to arrange for any existing fridge freezer occupying the space to be removed yourself.

You will get to keep the new fridge freezer once the product test is finished - so long as you add at least 2 lots of feedback on Mumsnet. Feedback will focus on overall impressions of the fridge freezer, the flexibility of the storage space inside it, any features you particularly like etc.

If you are interested in taking part please sign up here.

Thanks
MNHQ

lisad123 do you want a huge one or just a newish one?

I think I didn't win one because my 'justification' probably said something like "we were planning to get one of these but I wouldn't mind a free one, if yer offering" which isn't exactly a heart-melting plea for refrigeration generosity, I can tell.

Anyway, we will have to pay actual money for one at some stage and if you really want, you would be welcome to have our current one. PM me if you want details. I'm in S Watford.

lisad123 · 12/07/2011 22:04

I dont care as long as it works tbh. My fridge leaks and my big freezer is in a terrible place.

1973magpie · 12/07/2011 22:08

Ditto vivalebeaver

Sad

Sobs in corner.

But congrats to everyone who did get one.

fishie · 13/07/2011 09:12

whipme i read it as the smaller depth is the fridge itself and the larger with handles. It would be lunacy to make a fridge which was impossible to get into a normal UK sized house anyway. I think it's about the same depth as a normal appliance. Although a vastly superior species.

WhipMeIndiana · 13/07/2011 11:13

still unbelieving all this.

ok fishie, that makes sense.

mygirllollipop · 13/07/2011 11:57

OMG, can't belive I am one of the 'chosen' ones.

Feel unbelievably lucky, thank you MN and Samsung, really looking forward to taking delivery of the big beauty!

WhipMeIndiana · 13/07/2011 12:30

DramaInPyjamas · 13/07/2011 12:58

madrush · 13/07/2011 20:41

Wow, thank you mnhq and samsung. I'm soooo chuffed and ready to get ripping down the cupboard above the new f/f space today! My dds are super-excited about the ice dispenser and even dh was quite impressed when I showed him the picture.

I do feel for those of you who didn't get one but I promise I've entered VERY many mumsnet comps in the past, I'm sure your turn will come.

WhippedCream · 14/07/2011 20:46

has anyone heard from samsung yet?

TheRealMBJ · 14/07/2011 21:24

No, not me Sad. Was starting to worry.

Tequilamockinbird · 14/07/2011 21:33

Nope, nothing here yet either. Although the original post said delivery in the next 2-3 weeks so it may be we don't hear until next week

DurhamDurham · 15/07/2011 08:48

Mumsnet I'm on holiday in Norfolk next week but will be back Friday and be available to take delivery of my beautiful fridgefreezer any time after that. I'm worried sick that Samsung will ring me next week and when they don't get a reply think I don't want it anymore. When I applied I read it that I had to be available at some point within the next 2-3 weeks but not for the whole time. Please tell me I'm right!!

Likesshinythings · 15/07/2011 09:11

I haven't heard anything either. Comforted to hear I am not the only one!

mygirllollipop · 15/07/2011 10:25

I got a call on my mobile yesterday from an unknown number - was so excited - but alas was not Samsung arranging delivery.
My kitchen is on the first floor and I need to take out banisters to get the FF up there!

NewGirlHelenMumsnet · 15/07/2011 11:23

I've just asked Samsung what the plan is with deliveries - will let you know when I hear back from them. Don't worry Durham - have let them know you're away - it will all be ok!

NewGirlHelenMumsnet · 15/07/2011 11:31

Quick response from Samsung - here it is:

"All orders went onto the system yesterday, and people will start to get called from today and then into next week. A site survey will be done over the phone to check if there will be any problems getting the product into the house and with the installation/plumbing."

OP posts:
NewGirlHelenMumsnet · 15/07/2011 11:43

Durham - they'll call and leave you a message if they don't get an answer - you just need to call back to arrange delivery

DirtyMartini · 15/07/2011 13:47

Thanks Helen.

How are Samsung anticipating delivery and installation to happen - are they expecting to just turn up and attach it to existing pipe? Because in our case, I am getting a plumber to come and make a space for it ... we DO have a suitable space near the main water source and all, it's just that there is not currently anything plumbed in there.

Plumber is coming out on Tuesday to look at space/photo of fridge and plan the work. It shouldn't be a very big deal.

Helen, does that sound OK - it won't get me crossed off the list will it?

Is anyone else doing this or do you all have pipes in place awaiting delivery?

TheRealMBJ · 15/07/2011 14:18

I don*t.. I have a relatively easily accessible cold water source within 4m.

TheRealMBJ · 15/07/2011 14:20

That's all the survey asked for anyway.

DurhamDurham · 15/07/2011 14:23

Thank you so much NewGirlHelenMumsnet, I can go on holiday and enjoy myself now! Grin Grin Grin

DirtyMartini · 15/07/2011 16:40

MBJ, didn't mean to freak you out. I may be overplanning. Maybe Samsung are sending us plumbers Grin

I'm sure all will become clear...
