I have a question about centaur babies.

Would the human section be all floppy and helpless like a whole human baby, while the horsey but be able to walk around like a horse baby? Or would both half’s be either humanly floppy and under developed or Horsily matured?

and how would mama centaur birth something that shape?

I think modern centaurs would sort the grazing problem with a lot of wheatgrass smoothies and porridge/flapjacks.

They would laugh at us for thinking they still have to go out grazing.

I think the entire human part is digestive system and all the other organs are in the horse part.

The digestive system must extend into the horse body or they wouldn’t be able to excrete. Similarly, the respiratory system must start with the human end as the head has to inhale.

swimminginthesun · 05/08/2023 13:47

Another point - they have six limbs - are they not insects?

No. They don’t have antennae and they aren’t separated into three parts… unless you are suggesting the human part is abdomen and the horse part thorax…

SoundTheSirens · 05/08/2023 13:49

Someone mentioned Pegasus...do you think it would be possible to cross a centaur and a pegasus to get a flying centaur?

Apparently so…

Does...does he have a...horse chest penis?? 😧

ErrolTheDragon · 05/08/2023 14:05

I know a 'hippocentaur' is just the regular human/horse but wtf would a creature that's half human, half hippopotamus be called

Well I know THAT, I wasn't saying the systems don't overlap I'm just saying you could sort the whole human mouth thing by most of the digesting bits being in the human (and then a loooon colon? or extra tummy?), and most of the heart and lung bits being in the horse end.

Of course, thank you.

@JenniferAllisonPhillipaSue I’d love to think that in 10,000 million years time, when AI rules the world, there’s a god floppy-centaur-cantering-horse-baby that we worship by providing it with Pom Bears.

Yes, now you come to mention it, I WANT THAT TOO!

Presumably centaurs would buy their clothes from Topman.

Before I saw that photo I would have said definitely not and they only have the normal horse penis but that position certainly gives the impression that he does. Imagine what he looks like when he doesn’t have a lady attached. Centaurs are usually elegant and regal. With a frontal penis they would look ridiculous!!

I can’t believe this thread has run to 11 pages. I met a friend for coffee this afternoon and asked her what she thought of centaur babies. She just looked confused and changed the subject. I feel like the people on this thread are my people and I need to rethink my real life friendships…

WeAreBorg · 05/08/2023 19:36

I thought all centaurs were chaps and up until this point I hadn’t even thought how they might breed. You don’t really see lady centaurs about do you? Or am I gender stereotyping? I guess the male pairings can adopt etc.

ErrolTheDragon · 05/08/2023 19:51

If you look on the wiki page there are quite a few depictions of female centaurs. I think they don't go galloping around much because they've not invented bras and any gait other than a walk must be really uncomfortable.

Yes, perhaps a slow canter is also bearable.

But in which abdomen are they pregnant?
Maybe this has been covered, but could it be the horse bit gestates the horse bit, and the human bit …
Again, if the human abdomen has anything in it it will be painful to move.

And don’t get me started on what already looks like a painful backwards bend in the incredibly long spine.
How do the vertebrae fit together to form that curve?

BigMandsTattooPortfolio · 05/08/2023 20:27

Mermaids have bras though, usually consisting of two scallop shells tied together with string.

swimminginthesun · 05/08/2023 20:28

"Down from the waist they're centaurs,
Though women all above.”

That’s what Shakespeare said. So, as the human uterus is below the waist it doesn’t exist in a centaur. The babies would grow in the horse part.

Hadn’t even thought about the spine…

A google image search shows many of them wearing bras and this one even wears a dress!

She’s definitely going to need secondary lungs

I wonder if scallop bras are more uncomfortable than underwired. Just imagine having issues with trying to find the correct size shells and having to resort to gluing the shells together in the hope of creating a decent shape.
