Come and tell me your dull and unexciting news...

Anybody care to join?

I realised that it was the everyday stuff I missed most during lockdown. I really miss things being normal and dull and unexciting. Everyone in RL just talks covid covid covid all the bloody time. If it isn't covid it's recessions and A levels.

I bought a new flask. It's a 500ml Thermocafe and I love it. I take it into work and out into the garden.

I am also learning to do something called a "halo braid" in my hair. I am so bad at braiding it's unbelievable.

The cat hid a dead shrew in DH's slipper this morning.

I invite you all to top this parade of mediocrity.

@LookToTreblesGoingTreblesGone

I downloaded a house cleaning app today. I cleaned the dining room, because the app said so.
Oh bugger, I thought you were going to say it did it for you! Sad

@SentientAndCognisant

I worked with a woman who won’t have a dishwasher. She Doesn’t trust them.
What does she think it will do ?
thepassionchair · 19/08/2020 00:15

@TheReynoldsPamphlet

I have Egyptian toes.

Ooh, and MIL bought me a packet of Percy's Parents from M&S today.

Do you mean some bacon ? Grin
Deadringer · 19/08/2020 00:58

I went to Lidl today.

lljkk · 19/08/2020 06:44

My toes between Greek & Orient.
DD borrowed my fitbit to see just how many calories she burns on a 12 hour shift in the care home. Tomorrow she'll have a 7 hour shift to compare with, too.
Bastard cat woke me up early (5:30) but the sky was amazingly pink & glowing. Almost forgive the cat.

sqirrelfriends · 19/08/2020 07:01

I've been experimenting with Macrame and have made a wonky lovely wall hanging.

I've also just found out I have orient toes, who knew!

letsgomaths · 19/08/2020 07:04

Did a quick trip to the supermarket yesterday evening, in face shield (nobody so far has told me it's not a "proper" mask). As I did so, I kept moving my Roman toes around inside my trainers, which I was wearing without socks.

BikeRunSki · 19/08/2020 07:06

@freesolo - nice bread bin. I have that milk jug!!

cricketmum84 · 19/08/2020 07:12

I bought a new electric steamer on Monday and was quite excited to discover I can steam rice in it.

My new bathroom bin arrived yesterday.

Amazon is my best friend right now.

alangarneristerrifying · 19/08/2020 07:44

@PettyLittleThings what did cucamelon taste like? Ours aren't ready yet and I'm curious

SendHelp30 · 19/08/2020 07:55

My 3 young children are still asleep, DH already left for work so I’m sat in bed with a coffee. It’s bliss.

Frownette · 19/08/2020 08:01

There's a power cut at the moment and it's tipping it down outside

icelollycraving · 19/08/2020 08:41

It’s raining, which is very soothing.
Ds watching Preston Plays on youtube is not soothing, all the squawking. He’s just had a hot chocolate and a bourbon. I had a cup of tea.

VictoriaBun · 19/08/2020 08:45

I'm having a Sainsbury's delivery later today.
I'm not yet dressed , but think I'll wear a skirt today.
We had our bins emptied just a minute ago.
And lastly, I'm going to make a real effort today to drink lots of water.

YippeeKayakOtherBuckets · 19/08/2020 08:46

I’ve just started a new job and I’ve been given a free parking space on a colleague’s driveway a 2min walk away, so I’ll save £130 a month on a parking season ticket.

I think I might treat myself to an Apple Watch.

Hopethiswilldo · 19/08/2020 08:50

I've been giving great thought to if/how to style harem pants for work in September.

Camomila · 19/08/2020 08:53

I'be been teaching myself to use syntax in SPSS using you tube tutorials. I deleted 7000 variables in one go yesterday and I meant to do it!

LilOldMe · 19/08/2020 08:53

@Purpleice

I’m loving this thread of ordinariness. It’s so soothing!
It is, isn't it? I'm doing a novel-writing course at the moment and I'm thinking I'll just write a really ordinary diary, of someone who not much happens to. It'll be a bestseller.
ChouDeAmour · 19/08/2020 08:53

I finally ordered DS his uniform and school shoes yesterday after putting it off for a while.

I'm looking forward to having the gel on my nails replaced today and eating out with DH and the DC this evening as a treat.

OLGADEEPOLGA · 19/08/2020 08:54

I dyed my grey eyebrows back to brown today and now feel like a supermodel.

Bubbletrouble43 · 19/08/2020 08:55

I read my electricity meter yesterday and failed to shut the cupboard door properly after, it's outside, it banged all night in the wind and I couldn't be assed to get out of bed and shut it. I'm tired and grumpy today as a result.

Bubbletrouble43 · 19/08/2020 08:57

I have Greek toes.

Doggodogington · 19/08/2020 09:21

I have Egyptian toes.
Yesterday I took my motorbike for its running in service, the mechanic man also put a bit of hammerite paint on the weld of the kick stand (I’d had it shortened as I had the bike lowered) I thought that was nice of him.

PenguinsOnParade · 19/08/2020 09:26

I have an Egyptian left foot and Greek right foot. No wonder I struggle to find shoes to fit me, either get one side rubbing my heel or the other side rubbing my pinky toe.

My boring news is that I slept well last night. I have insomnia and chronic pain which has been getting steadily worse through lockdown so sleep has been such a rare thing recently, and I also lost 2lb this week so I'm now back below where I was at the start of lockdown finally.

Xiaoxiong · 19/08/2020 09:34

@totallyyesno @1990s I bought a silicone cap from Amazon that has ear pockets, so it goes completely over the ear and kind of suctions to your head. Then I watched this video: tucking all my hair up under the cap. I was amazed to find that apart from the very nape of my neck, my hair was still dry after a 1.5km freestyle swim in the pool.

@Nestofvipers fish and cheese isn't always wrong! Last night we had plaice with a parmesan dill breadcrumb crust, cheesy mash alongside. It was all kinds of right Grin
