Come and tell me your dull and unexciting news...

Anybody care to join?

I realised that it was the everyday stuff I missed most during lockdown. I really miss things being normal and dull and unexciting. Everyone in RL just talks covid covid covid all the bloody time. If it isn't covid it's recessions and A levels.

I bought a new flask. It's a 500ml Thermocafe and I love it. I take it into work and out into the garden.

I am also learning to do something called a "halo braid" in my hair. I am so bad at braiding it's unbelievable.

The cat hid a dead shrew in DH's slipper this morning.

I invite you all to top this parade of mediocrity.

Well its been a bit unnecessarily dramatic round here due to DS3 having an attack of teenage idiocy and ending up with a police warning for disorderly conduct last week. However, nirmal boring life goes on: i turned my first batch of home grown potatoes into skin on truffled fries last night and a new series of my favourite soothing TV series started (This Farming Life on BBC Scotland, check it out if you like scenery, lambs, puppies, babies etc). My blood pressure is returning to normal...

BearSoFair · 19/08/2020 09:44

I finally bought a SHO bottle and am converted - water I put in at 8am is still cold when we go to bed! I've wasted years drinking warm plastic-y water.

DS1 found a pair of trainers, still boxed, under his bed that he doesn't remember ever buying and no one else remembers seeing. It is the height of mystery in the house!

MajesticWhine · 19/08/2020 09:46

Yep fish and cheese is ok in my book. We had smoked cod with a spoonful of cheese sauce plus mash and veg last night.

Weenurse · 19/08/2020 09:48

Doing my first roast pork in the air fryer.
I can never get skin to crackle properly in the oven, so wish me luck.
Also, finally put IL’s old couch out for hard rubbish, 30 years after they gave it to us and it was 20 years old when we got it. Olive green.
Had to re arrange the house when FIL fell and had a brain bleed and had to stay for a couple of months. DD1 happy to give Opa her room but not happy to sleep on a sofa bed for months. Sofa bed to living room, new bed to spare room and hand me down couch gone.
House sorted.

I'm watching youtube videos on how to put on a swim cap (thanks Xiaoxiong!)

Might go to Iidl's later. Fancy a jacket potato for tea.

SpeedofaSloth · 19/08/2020 10:05

Cult Pens

Ooh.

Utilityroomenvy · 19/08/2020 10:19

I’m getting a chest freezer for the garage today. And I am ridiculously excited and already planning what I can store in it Grin

ResIpsaLoquiturInterAlia · 19/08/2020 10:21

I am specing up a new car and was planning a German Autobahn speed stability test and then this as well as Covid:

nunnun · 19/08/2020 10:50

My friend told me she always starts her shower with her left arm. I said that's funny, because I always start with my left arm too.

paap1975 · 19/08/2020 10:52

I taught my DH to plait hair. He's pretty good at it too!

usernotfound0000 · 19/08/2020 11:15

I finally managed to get in touch with Mama's and Papa's to order a replacement wheel for DD2 pram.

Decisions are being made on paint colour for decorating the bedroom, narrowed down to 3.

PettyLittleThings · 19/08/2020 11:24

@alangarneristerrifying the cucamelons are kind of like zingy cucumbers, a bit sour like pear drops. I like them. But I am a fan of a bit of zing and anything In miniature.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 19/08/2020 11:26

I postponed my dentist appointment (filling), as I show symptoms of a cold. They thanked me and did not fine me.

paap1975 · 19/08/2020 11:29

I collected my fountain pen from the office last week. Hadn't used it since March, so it needed a bit of encouragement before it started writing again

Notlostjustexploring · 19/08/2020 11:36

I have a Roman left foot and a Norwegian right.

I'm sitting drinking a cup of coffee watching the rain. In a quiet house. In a clean house as the cleaners visited this morning. And all the windows are open. It's nice. And I have a bunch of sunflowers in my downstairs loo, which are far too big for the space, but make me very happy.

MintyCedric · 19/08/2020 11:41

@ReallySpicyCurry

We have two cuddler sofas (in grey). It's just me and DD and it's like having a personal nest each!

In terms of dull and unexciting news - my new (second) freezer arrived on Monday, so I can start adding frozen food to my preppers stash.

Xiaoxiong · 19/08/2020 11:44

@YippeeKayakOtherBuckets I was given an Apple Watch by my mum who had got it as a freebie from her mobile phone company and didn't want it. I never wore a watch before so wasn't bothered...but now I've worked out its powers it's never off my wrist, I absolutely rely on it. If I hadn't been given it for free I'd never have spent money on a watch but it's so useful. I use it to set timers while cooking, check the weather, make sure I'm getting enough exercise, track the laps and strokes when I go swimming, ask Siri stuff without using my phone, get text messages while driving, give me driving directions (it buzzes when you need to turn), be away from my desk but know when a work email or phone call comes through...it's fab!!

Justtheoneplease · 19/08/2020 11:45

My dog has just been sick but is ok now and snoozing on the sofa

Halfpastafreckle · 19/08/2020 11:51

I went to Lidl today, and I popped into pound stretcher (as you do) and found a table top ironing board for £7 - I’m delighted with myself

Ninkanink · 19/08/2020 11:55

I took lamb chops out of the freezer for dinner tonight.

I chose lamb chops because I have celery and leeks that need using, so I decided I will make a gratin - this will go nicely with lamb.
Later I will order some antique brass curtain hold backs from eBay.

My household chore for today is to vacuum the floors downstairs. After several years of living in small flats I’m still getting used to the increased cleaning needed to maintain a good standard in a house.

It’s bin day.

usernotfound0000 · 19/08/2020 11:58

I bought a bottle stopper that actually keeps prosecco fizzy until the next time you want it.

Nandakanda · 19/08/2020 12:02

I have a spot on my arse.

Quite high up, but still in the crack. It might be a boil, but I'm too scared to look and frankly, can't be "arsed" .

Out of sight, out of mind.

Rossaloony · 19/08/2020 12:07

I'm wondering how I'm going to get through the rest of the day parenting a toddler whilst experiencing a horrific hangover

cricketmum84 · 19/08/2020 12:14

Oh and my cat has just brought the kitten a half dead sparrow. Great.

TressiliansStone · 19/08/2020 12:20

@Nandakanda

Shock Maybe don't leave it too long...

I am currently under the invaluable medical care of the sporners (OK, maybe of my pharmacist and the out-of-hours nurse as well...).
