Come and tell me your dull and unexciting news...

Anybody care to join?

I realised that it was the everyday stuff I missed most during lockdown. I really miss things being normal and dull and unexciting. Everyone in RL just talks covid covid covid all the bloody time. If it isn't covid it's recessions and A levels.

I bought a new flask. It's a 500ml Thermocafe and I love it. I take it into work and out into the garden.

I am also learning to do something called a "halo braid" in my hair. I am so bad at braiding it's unbelievable.

The cat hid a dead shrew in DH's slipper this morning.

I invite you all to top this parade of mediocrity.

I dyed my grey hair brown for the first time, now when I catch sight of myself, it makes me double take, funny thing no one else has noticed!

OrangeGinLemonFanta · 24/08/2020 11:53

@dementedma

My most annoying and useless staff member has just informed me she’s leaving!! Break out the bubbly!
Clearly exciting, nothing better than getting rid of a useless sack of shite who brings everyone down, take your bubbly to a more interesting thread Wink

I've got a stubborn patch of limescale in the loo. Have added cheap cola to the supermarket order.

(This thread has made me want a Mumsnet "like" button.)

QuestionableMouse · 24/08/2020 12:03

I think I might finally be able to get rid of an ingrowing hair. It's been bugging me for a couple of days but I've been using a hot cloth on it and its ready to come out. Damn thing is in a mole on my cheek so I really don't want to poke at it too much.

Buy a pumice stone. Takes it away really easily and shouldn't scratch.

Tobebythesea · 24/08/2020 12:58

I using up Sundays roast beef In a low fat stroganoff tonight.

I need to chase the window cleaner.

My DS’s nursery has a fire engine visit coming on Thursday and I’m a tiny bit jealous.

We’re taking our 4 year old DD to her first afternoon tea tomorrow to celebrate starting school soon and I cannot wait.

cricketmum84 · 24/08/2020 13:05

I'm still waiting on interview feedback that I was told I would get last Thursday. It's not going to be good is it.

ChavvySexPond · 24/08/2020 13:11

Thank you @QuestionableMouse! Will do.

Fluffycloudland77 · 24/08/2020 13:17

We had a row this morning about newell post caps and dh has banned me from mentioning them for the foreseeable.

DuckonaBike · 24/08/2020 13:18

I think my very comfy Ecco hiking sandals that I have lived in for the past few summers are starting to wear out. I may have to buy new ones.

WBWIFE · 24/08/2020 13:19

I managed the house work!! 😂😂

Trying to sell our house too but no viewings yet..

NoraEphronsneck · 24/08/2020 13:33

I have African toes apparently.

Happynow001 · 24/08/2020 13:35

I've just had chicken and multigrain soup for lunch - with extra chicken plus drank some ginger ale

Supersimkin2 · 24/08/2020 13:38

I went berserk and bought topped hummus rather than the soothing normal stuff.

I am pleased to report a not at all unpleasant mild crunch, once you successfully secure the whole chickpea to the cracker with the marinated onion supplied.

The cat is enjoying chasing the remaining chickpea under the sofa.

QuestionableMouse · 24/08/2020 13:43

@ChavvySexPond

Thank you *@QuestionableMouse*! Will do.
Hope it works for you! Transformed my loo from grotty to lovely.

I've discovered a new show and I'm so hooked I've watched the first four episodes twice. Prodigal Son on Now TV. New episode tomorrow and I can't wait to see it.

Jemimatheragdoll · 24/08/2020 13:52

Questionnablemouse, we're going to start watching that this evening having finished Perry Mason over the weekend.

In other news, I may do some baking this afternoon

avocuddl · 24/08/2020 13:53

Love this thread although some of you lead VERY exciting lives!! New turf! Getting your oven cleaned! That is not mediocre!

I went to the tip this morning to take lots of cardboard boxes. They were very strict about leftover sellotape and I got told off

Lweji · 24/08/2020 13:56

I loved Prodigal Son. In the end.... it was great. Grin

Hoppinggreen · 24/08/2020 13:58

I went to Harrogate this morning, it was busier than expected.
I accidently missed to Waitrose turning on my way out of Harrogate and due to the one way system couldnt be bothered try again.
Luckily I passed a bit M&S food shortly afterwards and went there instead - It also had a loo, which was good because I needed a wee.

HelloDulling · 24/08/2020 14:03

Have just sewn name tapes into DS’s new uniform, washed floor and am about to walk to the bank to pay DD’s drama fees.

This morning went to M&S and got there as they were doing the yellow sticker reductions. You should see my freezer!

Ninkanink · 24/08/2020 14:14

@Redshoeblueshoe

Greek toes. This is probably way too exciting for this thread but my Venus Fly Trap actually caught a fly ! The fact it's made me deliriously happy says it all really Shock Blush
I’m having to get used to flies again as after quite a few years living in flats in the city we’re now more rural, and I was thinking just the other day that a little row of Venus fly traps might be one way to combat them (there aren’t a huge amount, just several buzzing around at any one time).

I will also be very excited the first time one of them does its job!

(Also, where did you buy yours and how big is it?)

A good yellow sticker freezer stock-up is quite an exciting thing in our household (sadly not from M&S anymore, though, as I’m boycotting)!

What bargains did you find?

DidgeDoolittle · 24/08/2020 14:23

I did some ironing this morning. Found stuff I haven't worn since last year. I hate ironing.
I have Egyptian toes.
