Come and tell me your dull and unexciting news...

Anybody care to join?

I realised that it was the everyday stuff I missed most during lockdown. I really miss things being normal and dull and unexciting. Everyone in RL just talks covid covid covid all the bloody time. If it isn't covid it's recessions and A levels.

I bought a new flask. It's a 500ml Thermocafe and I love it. I take it into work and out into the garden.

I am also learning to do something called a "halo braid" in my hair. I am so bad at braiding it's unbelievable.

The cat hid a dead shrew in DH's slipper this morning.

I invite you all to top this parade of mediocrity.

Bin85
Won't this be too exciting for us?

I have unraveled a small crotcheted scarf to re-use the wool.

MrsBeltane · 23/08/2020 17:01

My son's girlfriend is coming for dinner. It's roast beef, I didn't think she liked beef.

Turin · 23/08/2020 17:04

I have done a mass pile of ironing and come to the realisation that my child does not need 22 pairs of pyjamas.

sueelleker · 23/08/2020 17:24

@EmbarrassingAdmissions Mine is an older one too, but it's a Duo; so has a yoghurt button. I presume yours is a Lux? I always do cold-start these days.

stayingaliveisawayoflife · 23/08/2020 17:25

I have deleted old emails out of my bin folder in my mail. The oldest one was from 2010. I also emptied my inbox and my junk mail folder. I feel very clean and satisfied!

alliejay81 · 23/08/2020 17:26

I've just picked an order for Hush cropped trousers. They fit me perfectly as normal trousers (I'm short with even shorter legs) can't decide whether or not this is a good thing.

Also, I've been doing chores non-stop since 10am but feel like I have very little to show for it.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 23/08/2020 17:34

Make a list of what you did all day in not too small writing and then cross everything out - I bet it looks like a load. Smile

AnyFucker · 23/08/2020 17:36

I have bought a George Foreman grill.

Why the bloody hell didn't I do it years ago ?

QuestionableMouse · 23/08/2020 17:38

I'm having cheese ravioli for tea. With lots of butter.

It's going to be delicious.

ImRealHonest · 23/08/2020 17:44

My weekly covid test for work is, once again, negative.

I have orient toes.

WouldBeGood · 23/08/2020 18:09

I have Greek toes.

With some rubbed bits as wore nice shoes out for lunch.

hamstersarse · 23/08/2020 18:16

The weather forecast said it would be dry at this time. It’s tipping it down.

DripNoMore · 23/08/2020 18:24

We put up shelves today. They are level.

DH went to the tip.

Cocolapew · 23/08/2020 19:10

We have a George Foreman grill, DD makes panini's in it.
I never remember I have it.

AnyFucker · 23/08/2020 19:23

On my GF grill I tried a ham and cheese panini. That was Friday.

Today I did bacon on it. Then used the leftover bacon to make a cold BLT for my work lunch tomorrow. I'll have a chunky kitkat too. I like them.

Mrsjayy · 23/08/2020 19:49

We went to BnQ today to look at flooring ended up buying clothes pegs 3 quid for 100 bargainGrin

Frownette · 23/08/2020 19:54

Bit bored actually, going to get a glass of water as I feel too lazy to make coffee

Mrsjayy · 23/08/2020 20:02

I had a glass too many of wine last night drunk.the tap dry today 🙄

lucysmam · 23/08/2020 21:05

I ran out of paint for my kitchen cabinet doors 🙄 knew I should have said yes to two, but thought I'd try and push it with one.

And, I finished my first piece of hand embroidery in about 20 years ish, since I did my A Level in Fashion & Fabrics! I'm quite pleased with that one!

SpeedofaSloth · 23/08/2020 21:24

I wore a new rain poncho today. I very likely looked a bit of a tit but I was very cosy and dry.

monkeyonthetable · 23/08/2020 21:32

I went for a walk with a bag of bread to feed the ducks this evening. No ducks by the lake. No ducks by the river. All ducks vanished. I came home with bread feeling a little bit sad at the lack of duck-feeding opportunities. Grin

monkeyonthetable · 23/08/2020 21:35

@Prokupatuscrakedatus - I do this sometimes. It makes me feel really good on days when I've been lazy as feck. Grin Even if you spend all day on MN, there's still a washload done, a dishwasher unloaded, three meals prepped and cleaned up after, animals fed etc. Makes it sound like a productive day.

midlifecrash · 23/08/2020 21:45

I made cauliflower cheese. The cauliflower seemed a nice firm one, but went a bit mushy when baked in the oven. I think I will only use organic cauliflowers for cauliflower cheese, they're not hydroponic.

I also painted a cupboard, and haven't quite got rid of the smell of white spirit.

CoronaIsShit · 23/08/2020 21:50

Our tomatoes are finally turning red. We have hundreds of the things from just a few seeds and I thought we’d got a dodgy batch as they’ve been green for about a month with no sign of getting bigger or changing colour.

I lifted 110kg on the leg press in the gym today.

DD pulled last night and is going on her first ever ‘proper’ date (as opposed to a double date or being set up with her mate’s sister’s brother) next weekend. She’s painfully shy and would normally tell the guy to get lost when approached, but she swapped numbers and he’s been texting her all day. He’s fit apparently. I’m so pleased for her.

My ASD teen DS finally agreed to join the gym this week and he’s been 3 times after months of refusing to leave the house during lockdown.

I forgot to buy toilet roll this afternoon so we’re having to use baby wipes disposed of in nappy bags as neither DH or I cbarsed to drive to the only store that’s open.

KatySun · 23/08/2020 21:54

My oven has broken. Just after I did a week’s food shop with things which need an oven. I am not happy.

(I don’t have a freezer, so I need to be creative how to cook things which need an oven on the hob, I cannot just freeze them until the oven is fixed or I get a new one).

CoronaIsShit your post about your DC is very sweet, I hope they both do well in their respective endeavours!
