Come and tell me your dull and unexciting news...

Anybody care to join?

I realised that it was the everyday stuff I missed most during lockdown. I really miss things being normal and dull and unexciting. Everyone in RL just talks covid covid covid all the bloody time. If it isn't covid it's recessions and A levels.

I bought a new flask. It's a 500ml Thermocafe and I love it. I take it into work and out into the garden.

I am also learning to do something called a "halo braid" in my hair. I am so bad at braiding it's unbelievable.

The cat hid a dead shrew in DH's slipper this morning.

I invite you all to top this parade of mediocrity.

I have been peer pressured into restarting using our exercise bike.
Now I am feeling sweaty and virtuous.

Happynow001 · 22/08/2020 19:45

I've just eaten a lovely ciabatta roll warm from the oven (slightly crisp on the outside, soft on the inside) with a lovely pork sausage cooked in spices plus a scrambled egg and drank a ginger beer. Yummy.

Dessert soon.. I'd tell you what it is but that's far too exciting... 😁

Happynow001 · 22/08/2020 19:51

@amieejust

I have today cleaned cat wee from the carpet.

DH is constipated.

A few prunes each day for DH. Three count as one if your "five a day". (Agen/Soft whole prunes are the best. Not tinned and not juice - and not too many!!) 😁

I didn't get my chicken and cashew nuts in yellow bean sauce because I remembered that I'd defrosted some sausages, so we had to have those.

SpeedofaSloth · 22/08/2020 20:55

Primark had no Tic Tacs, we had to go to Superdrug to buy them instead. DD chose cherry cola flavour.

Johnsonsfiat · 22/08/2020 21:00

I threw my daughter's Tesco meatballs and spaghetti ready meal away because it smelt disgusting to her and smelt 'long life' (I hate the long life smell) to me. I made her fish, chips and peas instead.
I then did some washing up whilst resting a foot on a footstool because I've had a splinter removed and the surrounding infection is still sore. The reason I did the washing up is because the dishwasher is broken.

Johnsonsfiat · 22/08/2020 21:02

Here is a pic of the inside of my dishwasher. Should I get a repair person, or can you see something I need to fix?

DH slightly chipped his phone screen on Thursday. I ordered a new one on Friday, a different make to normal. It came today and I'm holding out until tomorrow to change the screen. I'm the house Queen of the phone screen.

NeedToKnow101 · 22/08/2020 22:40

I put some custard creams in a takeaway container to keep them fresh, but DP will probably eat them by the time he goes to bed anyway.

Hey, maybe we should do this game as limericks ..?

Mamabem · 22/08/2020 22:43

Had DC's feet measured for new school shoes today. DS has gone up 2 sizes but DD's have changed less than half a size.

MeganChips · 22/08/2020 22:44

I only got 3.5 hours sleep last night. I am now absolutely knackered and in bed at 10:45 on a Saturday night.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 22/08/2020 22:49

I got stuck reading a grammar - but I'll go to bed now.

FunnysInLaJardin · 22/08/2020 22:49

We have a new boiler instead of the 2 weeks in Kefalonia we had planned. The house will be lovely and warm this winter and hopefully the oil bills will be lower.

I have another weeks holiday at home and we are going to Waitrose tomorrow to buy some holiday/treat food

MusicTeacherSussex · 22/08/2020 22:50

My key snapped in the lock on our new house, so we changed them as we were planning to anyway. We found a new barrel at B&Q for £20

I’m drinking wine, watching ‘The Fall’
Today I’ve not done much at all
I cleaned off the mud
To make a baked spud
And then mopped the floor in the hall.

Jemimatheragdoll · 22/08/2020 23:04

I've never laminated anything in my life-sounds like I'm missing out.

I have however used a gestetner machine

FunnysInLaJardin · 22/08/2020 23:05

I met my lovely friend and we sat on the beach and discussed her MIL going into a care home and her coming off AD's

I sat on the beach
With my friend
And our boys played

My new pjs arrived! I'm thrilled with them - they're a lovely pattern and so comfy. Feel really good quality too.

And I got them for half price because there was a sale.

They look kinda washed out due to the lighting but they're dark blue with white constellations. I love them.

(Land's End. Recommended by a poster on here!)

Neveranynamesleft · 23/08/2020 01:02

Resisted till now but I'm nosy so had to look. Norwegian.

Anybody got one of these for fingers ? Is there such a thing ?

poppym12 · 23/08/2020 06:36

The freezer needs sorting out as there's too much in there that has been lurking for months.

I've had to get up stupidly early as even lying in bed is causing pain at the moment.

The80sweregreat · 23/08/2020 09:18

Had a shower and on my second mug of tea. I Found a porridge pot lurking in the cupboard from my 'lockdown stash' which pleased me no end as I won't have to cook up the oats now and have a pan to clean , just boil the kettle.
Have to do some housework today and need some
more milk. Weekends used to be so much fun when I was young.

The80sweregreat · 23/08/2020 09:25

The new pjs are lovely! I love pjs and can't wait for autumn so I can wear my winter ones with a dressing gown (without being too hot! )
Ds1 is cooking breakfast now. The smoke alarm will probably go off soon.
My neighbours are back from their break.
Been reading mumsnet ' aibu' threads when I should be ' getting on' ! I have a 'phone addiction' according to dh.
Can you get help for this?

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 23/08/2020 09:46

DH decided (finally) to sort out archive material that needs to go the Austrian National Library.
Guess who is allowed to help him? .... Now!

chunkyrun · 23/08/2020 09:48

I'm working a 12hour shift today and I've got an hour to myself this morning child free
