Come and tell me your dull and unexciting news...

Anybody care to join?

I realised that it was the everyday stuff I missed most during lockdown. I really miss things being normal and dull and unexciting. Everyone in RL just talks covid covid covid all the bloody time. If it isn't covid it's recessions and A levels.

I bought a new flask. It's a 500ml Thermocafe and I love it. I take it into work and out into the garden.

I am also learning to do something called a "halo braid" in my hair. I am so bad at braiding it's unbelievable.

The cat hid a dead shrew in DH's slipper this morning.

I invite you all to top this parade of mediocrity.

I am going to start labelling my DCs' new uniform tomorrow. I have been putting it off.

Neveranynamesleft · 21/08/2020 21:05

Just painted my nails. Not keen on the colour but I cant be bothered starting again.

MutteringDarkly · 21/08/2020 21:08

@SpeedofaSloth oh bother, I'd forgotten about name labelling. Better ignore that for a bit longer get on with that.

I have sewn on a pile of badges to DD's Brownies uniform, but I'm not certain I'm happy with the placement of one of them.

freesolo · 21/08/2020 21:14

@Happynow001 it's from manomano

Tried to do my tax return on line to find they have auto filled important bits with lies Smile so that will mean a phone call on Monday. Washed the shower curtain. Watched cars park/drive the wrong way on newly re-opened street with change of no entry direction.

I am laminating things at work. The laminator is nice and warm

Stealth boast, much? Everyone knows laminating is the best thing about working in an office, it’s a red letter day when I have something to laminate. My colleague and I had a very passive aggressive ‘oh I don’t mind, you do it if you want’, ‘no you do it’ exchange when our boss suggested we laminate the telephone lists.

Ninkanink · 21/08/2020 21:47

Oh I love laminating things.

I’ve got about 15 different Monzo pots for all my bills and budgets.

I spent an hour this morning personalising all the pictures that show next to each pot. So I have a car for car tax and insurance, an umbrella for my savings (rainy day!), a house for my council tax, a tap for my water bill etc.

It makes me happy that my bank account looks so pretty!

I just bought dd her first Lego set. I stood on some Lego, and so did dh, we hopped around for a bit in agony and swore.

My ASDA has installed new self checkouts for trollies. They have miniature belts for your shopping. ASDA don't sell Maris Piper potatoes so I got some from a naice supermarket.DH needs them so he can recreate a meal we ate in an iconic tea room.

ilovepixie · 21/08/2020 23:00

I ordered this t shirt today. Can't wait for it to come!

This evening an elderly relative gave me a box of chocolates minus the chocolates.

Cocolapew · 21/08/2020 23:38

Don't hate me, but on Wednesday I laminated 60 A4 pages 🤗

Cocolapew · 21/08/2020 23:39

I'm aware that this^ is obviously too exciting for this thread but I wanted to show off.

Frownette · 21/08/2020 23:46

I went downstairs just now to get some iced water, then opened the door to the bathroom on the way back and a huge spider ran at me. I was hopping around in the corridor saying NOOOO as I then watched it run out and underneath my bedroom door. So now I have 2 huge spiders in here somewhere.

I'm becoming like a retirement home for spiders.

Weenurse · 22/08/2020 02:57

@Turboshift I have a Phillips XXL and it is the best, my roast pork was moist and with perfect crackle.
I think my toes are Egyptian

I tackled a mountain of washing up yesterday and remembered to put a dishwasher tab in the dishwasher this time. I still haven't emptied the dishwasher and nobody else did either.

One of my succulents has sprouted about 50 mini-me succulents on the edges of its leaves. They all have roots and three or four tiny leaves. I have no idea what I am going to do with them all. DS has a bag of cactus potting soil I may need to borrow. I am wondering if I could pass them all off as Christmas pressies.

Celebrated a DD's birthday out on the deck and a locust dropped out of a nearby tree onto the table, causing consternation. I put a glass upside down over him (her?) and that put an end to all the shrieking and buzzing and sundry other nonsense.
DS picked up a takeaway order for DD's b-day dinner and it took him ages because there were about 20 people ahead of him.

The cat scored three helpings of wet food yesterday evening. The first was my usual tribute to her as soon as I arrived home from work, second was because she climbed into the fridge and wouldn't get out, and the third was because she ran in under a DD's bed and wouldn't come out. DD won't let her stay in her room because she tips things off flat surfaces all night, and I have qualms about leaving her in the fridge.

I am going to dye my own hair tomorrow morning and after that I will hoover, mop the kitchen, dining room and sitting room floors, and probably do the bathroom too.

HelloDulling · 22/08/2020 07:52

Man came to quote for a new bathroom yesterday. It’s only taken us since 2009 to get round to it.

Am taking DD to get a fringe cut in a bit. Might treat myself to a coffee from the deli next door while she’s in there.

mathanxiety · 22/08/2020 07:55

I can't figure out if my toes are African or Oriental. Feet are really weird.

stayingaliveisawayoflife · 22/08/2020 07:57

@Prokupatuscrakedatus it does have to be a copper coin I think. I haven't tried others though as I was told to use a 2p!

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 22/08/2020 08:09

stayingalive
Copper I can manage Smile, I'll try that.
I usually use a kind of pumice stone on a stick for larger areas and a vinegar solution on cloth tied round the taps.

Unexiting news for the day.
It started to rain and went down to 27 °C
