Anybody care to join?

I realised that it was the everyday stuff I missed most during lockdown. I really miss things being normal and dull and unexciting. Everyone in RL just talks covid covid covid all the bloody time. If it isn't covid it's recessions and A levels.

I bought a new flask. It's a 500ml Thermocafe and I love it. I take it into work and out into the garden.

I am also learning to do something called a "halo braid" in my hair. I am so bad at braiding it's unbelievable.

The cat hid a dead shrew in DH's slipper this morning.

I invite you all to top this parade of mediocrity.

Bought a new rubber mat for the bottom of the bath today.

I ahve been thinking that one of these might be a good idea. No one ever falls over in the bath these days but they have done in the past.

Allington · 20/08/2020 21:16

I have African ties with a solidly non-African heritage (DM is into family history and gone back a couple of centuries).

DD is 100% African (adopted) and has Greek toes.

Much amusement for us both...

shiveringwiggles · 20/08/2020 21:18

I need to fold 2 weeks worth of clean clothes tonight. They've been sitting in the basket looking at me and the pile now wobbles when I add something to the top.

I'm watching The Fall. Jamie Dornan is weirdly much hotter in this than in 50 Shades.

poppym12 · 20/08/2020 21:29

i've switched around some of my succulents to different shelves to try to ensure they all get plenty of light. i lost count at 47 plants Blush.

sqirrelfriends · 20/08/2020 21:34

This rainy weather is making me really want to switch out my summer clothes for autumn but I don't have enough room for everything out at once.

I might have a clear out over the weekend.

MutteringDarkly · 20/08/2020 21:54

Stop the clock! Only 77.5 dowels later (thank you Argos for the half-dowel, so useful) I have built my new desk. I had no choice really as I thoughtlessly spread out all the pieces on my bed, so it was build it or sleep on top of the bits...

I want to know where the bony bit in the mouth is too.

Norwegian toes, which pleases me but is unlikely to count for anything.

The80sweregreat · 20/08/2020 22:03

Dh had a weird spot on the roof of his mouth a few years ago. The doc referred him and it had to be burnt away : it was not as bad as it sounds. Nothing sinister, but they said it would have to be removed.
Get it checked out!

FiligreePot · 20/08/2020 22:07

I repotted a jade plant today and ended up with 6 separate jade plants

lljkk · 20/08/2020 22:10

bony bit in my mouth location... so lower left jaw, 2 molars behind the canine, outside of the gums, go deep down to near bottom of the gum. It looks like a tooth that never fully erupted but went sideways. No discomfort.

I am seeing a new dentist fairly soon so if this bony bit makes me a freak or bearer of terminal diagnosis then she will probably comment.

Ninkanink · 20/08/2020 22:15

I have a bony bit in my mouth too. It’s a little pointy stub of a tooth, instead of a proper tooth, where one of my wisdom teeth should be.

KatyaZamolodchikova · 20/08/2020 22:16

I phoned the bank to report an account being opened in my name that I didn’t open, after getting an email confirming my customer number. But the fraud department chap asked if it could be a business account and I realised DH has finally added me to his work account. I was relieved someone wasn’t going round opening bank accounts as me but also mad that he didn’t tell me to expect it.

Later I moved my thyme plant into a better location and watered my pepper plant and noticed it’s definitely growing tiny peppers now.

Mikki69 · 20/08/2020 22:17

I read the weather forecast and discovered the UK has a TORNADO watch in place!!!

topcat2014 · 20/08/2020 22:18

I have been driving for 30 years and made a real balls up of trying to park in an unfamiliar multi story

turquoise50 · 20/08/2020 22:27

I bought some foundation which is one shade darker than I had before, and it's been a revelation. Made short work of my redness and dark circles with no need to faff about with colour correctors and all that jazz.

I mean I still don't look GOOD, but no bottle of foundation will achieve that, unless it's 85% Elixir of Youth and comes out of a magic lamp. But on balance, I’m pleased, and I have Greek toes.

elephantoverthehill · 20/08/2020 22:29

Apparently I've just won a free pot of yoghurt.

KatyaZamolodchikova · 20/08/2020 22:38

Oooh @elephantoverthehill what flavour?

hopelessbusiness · 20/08/2020 22:41

@BlackAmericanoNoSugar is he a basset hound by any chance?

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 20/08/2020 22:46
@BlackAmericanoNoSugar is he a basset hound by any chance?
No, he's a Glen of Imaal Terrier. He's quite big, about 19kg but his head only just about reaches my knee.

Come and tell me your dull and unexciting news...
Allaboutthatbass · 20/08/2020 22:50

My parents dropped us off some of
their bumper crop of tomatoes today.

thelionessqueen · 20/08/2020 22:52

I bunged a beef and red wine casserole in the slow cooker to be served with cheesy mash - as it was lashing it down with rain - nice comfort food on an awful day - except by lunchtime it was glorious sunshine and tropical

Frokni · 20/08/2020 22:57

I bought my first ever 6pack of cotton hankies with flower embroidery in the corner. I miss my Grandma alot and they reminded me of her.

I am trying reusable sanitary towels for the first time. Literally wearing one right now.

I prefer the morrisons tea bags to the Sainsburys brand tea bags.

thescarftwins · 20/08/2020 22:58

@lachy

I'm going to buy a new hoover tomorrow
I think this actually counts as quite big news. What type? I'm really keen on getting a Shark.
Frokni · 20/08/2020 23:02

@thelionessqueen it's always beef casserole weather :-)

@topcat2014 I despise multistorey car parks. You are brave for even trying

@shiveringwiggles I will quote my fav tv family, The Simpsons when they are arguing who empties it
Homer: (fills bin to the top)
Bart: your turn to take it out Homer. He who tops it off, drops it off.
Homer: Nu-uh it isn't filled until it's spilled!

I would go with that. A wobble isn't a spill you got time before it needs putting away Grin

sycamorecottage · 20/08/2020 23:05

My dull and unexciting news is that I'm currently listening to the hum of a dehumidifier turning itself inside out under the strain of drying out the new plaster on my kitchen walls and ceiling.

ReallySpicyCurry · 20/08/2020 23:18

I have been boringly busy (work, nobody else was in, thrilling baked potatoes for dinner, then a run) but how nice that you've all been having equally boring days Grin

I'm cold. I'm pretty sure it's a almost time to crack and put the heating on, but meanwhile I'll make do with my new wool blanket... I love it so
