Come and tell me your dull and unexciting news...

Anybody care to join?

I realised that it was the everyday stuff I missed most during lockdown. I really miss things being normal and dull and unexciting. Everyone in RL just talks covid covid covid all the bloody time. If it isn't covid it's recessions and A levels.

I bought a new flask. It's a 500ml Thermocafe and I love it. I take it into work and out into the garden.

I am also learning to do something called a "halo braid" in my hair. I am so bad at braiding it's unbelievable.

The cat hid a dead shrew in DH's slipper this morning.

I invite you all to top this parade of mediocrity.

I can't decide if I have Egyptian toes or Mongolien toes? Oh the thrill!

alangarneristerrifying · 20/08/2020 15:53

I can't remember if it's my turn to clean the bathroom at the weekend or not. Any ideas?

DeclutterTheUtility · 20/08/2020 15:54

It's unlikely to be your turn.

alangarneristerrifying · 20/08/2020 15:57

Excellent, I'll take that as evidence

DeclutterTheUtility · 20/08/2020 16:00

You're welcome.

I'm slightly psychic.

singswithitsfingers · 20/08/2020 16:03

My cat likes his new kidney diet food. He didn't like the previous one.

Wheresthebiffer2 · 20/08/2020 16:12

I started painting my shed today, used half the paint, then read the side and it says to water it down 30% for the first coat. Oops.

Ninkanink · 20/08/2020 16:15

I feel like this thread is getting more exiting as it goes along...

I would be so excited if I had spied my first few teeny tiny homegrown tomatoes!

I have more news:

I couldn’t buy veg today because I left it too long and the market was done by the time I got into town. So I’ll have to get some on Saturday.

I don’t have any onions left but that’s okay because it’s burgers for dinner tonight and onions aren’t necessary, and tomorrow will be spaghetti with king prawns and onions also aren’t necessary. 👍👍

Fluffycloudland77 · 20/08/2020 16:21

My new spin dryer has arrived.

It’s all go here I can tell you.

MutteringDarkly · 20/08/2020 16:27

I have unpacked the pieces of the potential desk. Needed a sit down after that before tackling The Instructions.

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 20/08/2020 16:29

I have done 3 loads of washing

DH is chopping green beans and beetroot to have with tea

I just ordered £29 worth of stuff from Avon

I need to go and make quiche for tea

I cant be arsed, oh and i still have greek toes

elephantoverthehill · 20/08/2020 16:34

I bought 5 large punnets of strawberries from the greengrocer today oh wait that is quite exciting now I guess I will have to make some jam, unless Dcs arrive home and eat them all.

The80sweregreat · 20/08/2020 16:35

The mouthwash fell off the bathroom window sill today , as the window was open , and landed the right way up in the bath so I didn't lose any of the listerine even though the top came off ; all very weird I must say!
It is windy today.
Getting washing dry is good ! I love it when I can get that dry..

menofharlech · 20/08/2020 16:36

Garden clearance went well.

Car service less so (needed a new battery....).

I have rejuvenated the chimnea thingy we have used precisely twice using a wire brush and some specialist spray paint - that was an unscheduled trip to b&q.

Exiting?? Exciting, obvs.

I’ve just had a cup of tea.

Sunbird24 · 20/08/2020 16:40

I’ve put on a bra for the first time since Saturday. Got to go to the shop for some milk so figured it was a good idea

SecretWitch · 20/08/2020 16:45

I had a dream last night that a man vomited on my arm. I woke up with an earache. Wonder if they correlate

Xiaoxiong · 20/08/2020 16:45

I bought some anti-chlorine 3-in-1 body wash at Superdrug for under £2, and tested it today after my swim in the pool - and it works! No chlorine smell.

I remembered my mask when I popped down the road to buy milk.

I managed to drink 2L of water today!

The80sweregreat · 20/08/2020 16:56

Anti chlorine anything sounds wonderful as the smell of swimming pools does linger on the skin and hair!
So glad I opened this thread now and will buy some tomorrow in town as we also have a super drug which is still open and seems to do well ( unlike other other shops in town ) and has nice assistants ( not like the ones in Boots who make you feel like your intruding on their time by going in there and that was before COVID)

DeclutterTheUtility · 20/08/2020 16:58

For some reason this thread has reminded me of Tim Ferris.

I watched a couple of his YouTube videos agog. He does masses of stuff and it only takes him 4 or 8 hours a week or month cos he packs it all in.

Then he fills in his time making his morning tea in the most complicated way possible.

He needs to chill imho.

elephantoverthehill · 20/08/2020 17:03

One of the cashiers in my local SuperDrug manages to say 'There you go' at least 3 times during any transaction. I have counted 5 on occasions.

The80sweregreat · 20/08/2020 17:08

'There you go ' is one of my sayings ! Or ' it is what it is' !
My kids hate that I call everything a ' doo dah' as I'm getting old and I can't remember what the remote control is called anymore it seems and both of them mysteriously go missing almost daily.
I did clean the bath today after the mouthwash incident ( see below) using an ' elbow grease' product which does work.
I like things that work.

Maxineputyourredshoeson · 20/08/2020 17:50

@Ninkanink I genuinely squealed in excitement and marched DH and the DD’s out to see they weren’t quite as excited as me.... Grin

lljkk · 20/08/2020 17:57

I just discovered a bony bit in my mouth.
I feel 99% sure I've always had this bony protuberance, but never discovered it before (can't feel with tongue, only via finger pokes).
How old did I have to get not to notice my own body peculiarities? Sheeesh.

Geppili · 20/08/2020 18:41

I pruned my wisteria from my lovely neighbour's side. Looks beautiful!
