Come and tell me your dull and unexciting news...

Anybody care to join?

I realised that it was the everyday stuff I missed most during lockdown. I really miss things being normal and dull and unexciting. Everyone in RL just talks covid covid covid all the bloody time. If it isn't covid it's recessions and A levels.

I bought a new flask. It's a 500ml Thermocafe and I love it. I take it into work and out into the garden.

I am also learning to do something called a "halo braid" in my hair. I am so bad at braiding it's unbelievable.

The cat hid a dead shrew in DH's slipper this morning.

I invite you all to top this parade of mediocrity.

Yesterday I took lots of biro marks off dc's school uniform after learning how to do it from Youtube. Other dc's school jumper is too small now even though the one we bought this time last year was too big for him then.

I got drenched on the way home from work.

Dontforgetyourbrolly · 20/08/2020 12:49

I've decorated my hallway and my bedroom

Bubbletrouble43 · 20/08/2020 12:51

I got a letter from the water company today, we are in credit so our direct debit is being reduced.

DD and I have been to the zoo - school holidays are over and it is midweek - so very empty and relaxed.
Now we are at home relaxing even more ....

I'm in credit for the gas and electricity too. Summer bills are great. Will go up by October no doubt.
Water has gone down by two pounds.
Happy days

StanleyBostitch · 20/08/2020 13:09

I went to the bakery yesterday and they had apple turnovers so I bought the last two.

Jemimatheragdoll · 20/08/2020 13:14

Dh left the lid off the butter dish this morning and the peach I'm trying to eat (purchased yesterday) is soggy and tasteless. Am very disgruntled.

However, to ramp up the excitement I'm about to purchase a steam mop.

Purpleice · 20/08/2020 13:16

I am trying to work up the energy to go and clean the windows. I’ve forgotten how to do it so they don’t streak.

Trailing1 · 20/08/2020 13:17

I managed to find some terracotta plant pots (haven't been able to get hold of any for ages)

Cocolapew · 20/08/2020 13:21

My new stair carpet is being put down, it's blue.
I think I might have thrush.

Cocolapew · 20/08/2020 13:23

Oh and I have Greek toes.
Discussing toes over the years in work so far I've been told I'm a werewolf and a lesbian.
This new toe info seems to indicate I'm a Greek, lesbian werewolf.

Jemimatheragdoll · 20/08/2020 13:34

I have orient toes you'll all be interested to learn

MutteringDarkly · 20/08/2020 13:43

My new desk has arrived in 2 boxes each over 35kg Shock I am letting them acclimatise in the hall while I contemplate what next.

The80sweregreat · 20/08/2020 13:53

I found some retro plant pots on eBay originally out of m and s and they made me think of my late mum who loved the ' harvest ' range of goods.
I'm getting old and I am starting to like old things again.

tidlywinksthebarbershop · 20/08/2020 14:02

I have been working from half 7 this morning til half 4 and I will be taking a nap after work Smile

Cocolapew · 20/08/2020 14:11

I've very happy with my new stair carpet.

Maxineputyourredshoeson · 20/08/2020 14:12

My tomato plant has 4 teeny tiny tomatoes - my first ever homegrown Grin

ladybee28 · 20/08/2020 14:13

I'm utterly and inexplicably in love with this thread.

The left earpiece on my headphones stopped working this morning.

Now I'm trying to find the waybill number for a package that I think is probably going to arrive tomorrow. If it is, I need to nip and get some cash out to pay the tax on it. It's roasting here though so I'm not looking forward to getting in the car.

I am re-reading The Thorn Birds after many years. It is a knackered old paperback from a charity shop. The spine has come away after I started reading leaving the pages in blocks. This means I can peel or rip the individual pages away once I have read them and throw piles of them in the recycling bin.

This is very satisfying and quite the most exciting thing to have happened this week.

Mrsjayy · 20/08/2020 14:37

I read my mum's copy of Thorn Birds when I was 15 oh my it was raunchy Blush

BigMamaFratelli · 20/08/2020 15:11

I bought a compost bin at the weekend and have become a teensy bit obsessed with collecting scraps for it. I love it!

Ninkanink · 20/08/2020 15:18

I went into town today (a five minute walk) and bought another plant for our little courtyard. It looks perfect in the corner and brightens up the space so nicely.

I also went round the charity shops and I found a big vase with a sea grass cover that looks great in our living room, a little glass cake stand that will come in handy for serving chocolate truffles at Christmas, and my favourite find: a Tuscan cookery book. I love the simple pleasure of savouring a new recipe book!
