Come and tell me your dull and unexciting news...

Anybody care to join?

I realised that it was the everyday stuff I missed most during lockdown. I really miss things being normal and dull and unexciting. Everyone in RL just talks covid covid covid all the bloody time. If it isn't covid it's recessions and A levels.

I bought a new flask. It's a 500ml Thermocafe and I love it. I take it into work and out into the garden.

I am also learning to do something called a "halo braid" in my hair. I am so bad at braiding it's unbelievable.

The cat hid a dead shrew in DH's slipper this morning.

I invite you all to top this parade of mediocrity.

In the words of Morrissey - every day is like Sunday. Every day is silent and grey.

Sunbird24 · 19/08/2020 21:22

I made beef burgers with cheese in the middle. Ate them all.

menofharlech · 19/08/2020 21:30

I have cleared out my kitchen cupboards including sorting though my spice rack and size ordering my Tupperware

Yesterday I cleared out the freezer

Tomorrow I'm clearing the garden

I also found a brand new roasting tin hidden in the bottom of one cupboard so have chucked the old crappy one.

morosetinkler · 19/08/2020 21:35

@sqirrelfriends

I've been experimenting with Macrame and have made a wonky lovely wall hanging.

I've also just found out I have orient toes, who knew!

That's so bizarre, I was thinking of giving macrame a try last night.
Flowersmakemyday · 19/08/2020 21:44

I recently picked blackberries to make blackberry gin. There was some left over so DH made a coulis and added Kirsch. Just had it tonight with strawberries and meringue, it was gorgeous.

mellowgreenspring · 19/08/2020 21:44

I've just googled halo braid, that's my new thing for today.

hamstersarse · 19/08/2020 22:00

I got a new non stick pan and my scrambled egg didn’t stick

NeedToKnow101 · 19/08/2020 22:02

I was boiling two eggs and I noticed that one was balanced on its narrow end. I googled it, and found out it means the egg is past it's best.
I hope that wasn't too interesting.

lucysmam · 19/08/2020 22:33

I painted the end of a kitchen cupboard, a drawer front, and the board under the cooker today.

Plan to do the other three drawers and rest of the kick boards tomorrow, and maybe defrost/clear out my chest freezer.

PenguinsOnParade · 19/08/2020 22:39

I made the best pork chops we've ever had tonight. I rarely do pork as I always mess it up and overcook it no matter how careful I am, but they were spot on tonight, and smothered in a creamy mushroom sauce which I made myself too.

@hamstersarse

Just put the bins out

My favourite bin day - black and green

Tomorrow is black bin day here. Our green bin goes out with the blue one next week, but on different days.
blowyernose · 19/08/2020 22:59

I went into town and bought an outdoor broom because mine snapped. Also bumped into some stepford housewives on my way. I'm so not a stepford housewife....

hamstersarse · 19/08/2020 23:20

My dog has his haircut today and they put a navy blue bandana on him. It suits him.

MutteringDarkly · 19/08/2020 23:25

I've nearly finished painting the study. New desk arrives tomorrow hopefully. Need to remember to put electric screwdriver on charge ready for the fun of self-assembly...

DD appears to have forgotten all maths she ever knew Hmm Bit less Teen Titans, bit more times tables required.

I forgot it was bin night and got soaked putting them out just now. Quite warm rain though.

BashfulClam · 19/08/2020 23:39

I made soup!

JohnnyMcGrathSaysFuckOff · 19/08/2020 23:57

The children's autumn cardies arrived today. DD1 has lilac lambswool as purple is her favourite colour, and the twins have matching navy ones, but they are reversible and have different stripes on the other side - so they can match, or not.

It is the twins' two and a halfth birthday today.

I recorded a voice over PowerPoint today and sound just like Theresa May.

I made lamb and apricot stew with a bhaharat spice mix.

My children have mysteriously started calling me Nick. My name is not Nick, but I don't really mind.

DH needs to put on a dishwasher load, and then we'll go to bed.

Frownette · 20/08/2020 00:27

I just had a snack, which should make me sleepy. Need to wash face and turn off bathroom light.

LasagneQueen · 20/08/2020 01:14

@MutteringDarkly

I forgot it was bin night last night. Was woken by the sound of the van at 6.45am, hurtled out of bed and gave chase barefoot in my pyjamas dragging the bloody thing behind me.

I caught them though...thank God!

Happynow001 · 20/08/2020 05:39

@Justajot

We got a new microwave. It doesn't have a turntable. Though that might be too exciting for this thread.

When mine finally gives up the ghost (it's making not-so-funny noises, so very soon!) I'll be doing the same.

Am off now to research multi-function ovens with no turntable.. oh the excitement!! 😁

MadamFlutterby · 20/08/2020 05:45

I might clean the bathrooms today.

Frownette · 20/08/2020 07:41

It's stopped raining

Deathraystare · 20/08/2020 08:14

Brace yourselves - I will go through all my clothes and shoes tomorrow. I have been talking about this for months and months. The crunch came when I had to find a pair of black shoes for a funeral today. It took me ages to find a matching pair!

My whole room needs a clear out but the clothes are a must. I really do not need that many clothes and now is the time to get rid of any that will never fit me or are a horrid material (I cannot wear viscose/lyocell/tencel without being a complete sweaty Betty). Also a number of dresses that I thought would look great show my stomach off extremely well. Not a good look so they will be going and now the charity shops are open I can take them there!

lljkk · 20/08/2020 08:20

ooh, that sounds fun, Deathrayst.
My instincts are all hoarder but there's something lovely about organising one's stuff.

HelenaJustina · 20/08/2020 08:44

I’ve been for a run and am now sitting in the kitchen with my second coffee waiting to hear about a relative’s GCSE results.

I’ve yelled at the children to try on some school uniform and come and parade in front of me (so I can cry into my coffee about the money I need to shell out) but no one has obeyed me yet.

The80sweregreat · 20/08/2020 08:58

Watching the news and had two cups of tea and some cereal.
It's all glamour round here.
