Come and tell me your dull and unexciting news...

Anybody care to join?

I realised that it was the everyday stuff I missed most during lockdown. I really miss things being normal and dull and unexciting. Everyone in RL just talks covid covid covid all the bloody time. If it isn't covid it's recessions and A levels.

I bought a new flask. It's a 500ml Thermocafe and I love it. I take it into work and out into the garden.

I am also learning to do something called a "halo braid" in my hair. I am so bad at braiding it's unbelievable.

The cat hid a dead shrew in DH's slipper this morning.

I invite you all to top this parade of mediocrity.

I appear to have Norwegian toes. I have been sitting on my arse wasting time most of the day when I should have been working on a course that will help with my career (but it's OK, I work best when a deadline is looming and I get the fear in me).

FiligreePot · 19/08/2020 19:33

The derelict eyesore rotting caravan that the twatty neighbours have had parked for years down the street has been towed away today! (Slowly due to its flat tyres).

I keep remembering it’s gone and smiling.

Drogonssmile · 19/08/2020 19:54

How the Jeff do I have African toes!? I'd understand DC having African toes as PIL are South African. I'm intrigued that my toes are African!

Anyway..........I received in the post today my single textbook for the second year of my OU degree course. I'm sure I had eleventy billion textbooks last year but maybe they're saving paper.

DS1 had a friend round earlier whose foster mum sneakily left me a fb messenger message to say he'd had a triple dose of Movicol beforehand and could I remind him where the toilet was. CF.

Those are the highlights of my day. Back to work again tomorrow for 10 hours of NHS fun and frolics.

I iced my madeira cake, but I made way too much glacé icing so it all pooled at the bottom and had to be removed. We ate it for tea with fancy sandwiches and tea and scones and little tarts. Then I went on a walk and noticed that the conkers are starting to come through. (I'm finding this thread very soothing, I hope it continues!)

PrivateSpidey · 19/08/2020 20:11

I ordered a Pyrex dish online to replace a broken one that I used only for making puddings (old school sponge-type puddings beloved by DS).

I'd had the other one for years and it fitted the bill perfectly (until it smashed). Anyway the new one arrived today and it's totally the wrong size! It's massive.

Maybe I'll just have to make bigger puddings from now on.

Am in the market for a new flask OP - am going to check out the Thermo cafe.

MrsBobDylan · 19/08/2020 20:15

@MojoJojo71 oh jeez, I'm stuffed then :(
I am going to ignore the issue of school uniform and just hope they haven't grown at all in six months.

In other news, I have just found out it is my wedding anniversary today after a text from MIL. We can at least take comfort that we both forgot and resolve to do better next year.

Mrsjayy · 19/08/2020 20:18

We forgot our wedding anniversary too it was in lockdown so had no clue what month it was far less the date.my mum sent a cardBlush

I love this thread ♡

Someone came to repair my tumble dryer yesterday but didn't have the right part. We had a nice chat about global warming and holidays.

It's bin day tomorrow so I put the bin out.

I have Roman toes with bunions

AmandaHoldensLips · 19/08/2020 20:19

I have Egyptian toes and I am not even Egyptian.
(Shakes head in amazement.)

Reader1984 · 19/08/2020 20:27

I cut the crusts off my bread today when I made a sandwich. I don't like crusts and as a fully grown adult, I believe I have the right to cut them off if I want to. Much nicer sandwich as a result.

MadamFlutterby · 19/08/2020 20:31

The brownies turnded out nice.

poppym12 · 19/08/2020 20:39

I've bought some furniture wedges and replace the tatty bits of folded cardboard underneath wonky furniture.

WhoWouldHaveThoughtThat · 19/08/2020 20:42

Nothing happened today.
I might do a jigsaw tomorrow.
If I can be bothered.

Polkasquare · 19/08/2020 20:45

It is raining.

foxyknoxy30 · 19/08/2020 20:49

My neighbour has a strange car practically parked across her drive and is messaging me asking if I know who it belongs to

FiligreePot · 19/08/2020 20:52

I’ve just made some Soba noodles for a snack tea.

reflectivesunglasses · 19/08/2020 20:54

I'm going to get off Mumsnet and hang up the washing. I hope someone will make me a cup of tea while I do that.

Mrsjayy · 19/08/2020 20:58
