Come and tell me your dull and unexciting news...

Anybody care to join?

I realised that it was the everyday stuff I missed most during lockdown. I really miss things being normal and dull and unexciting. Everyone in RL just talks covid covid covid all the bloody time. If it isn't covid it's recessions and A levels.

I bought a new flask. It's a 500ml Thermocafe and I love it. I take it into work and out into the garden.

I am also learning to do something called a "halo braid" in my hair. I am so bad at braiding it's unbelievable.

The cat hid a dead shrew in DH's slipper this morning.

I invite you all to top this parade of mediocrity.

I am going to get a glass of fizzy water

My son changed his bed and hoovered his room last night

I have towels in the washing machine

I have greek toes

TressiliansStone · 19/08/2020 12:22

That's the dull and mediocre thing I spent my weekend doing, obviously...

firstshift · 19/08/2020 12:23

finally managed to cut the grass yesterday and now this bastard rain will have it 5 ft long again in minutes!

lljkk · 19/08/2020 12:26

First year ever (only lived here 16 yrs) we have managed to grow tomatos. LOTS of tomatos. We don't freeze things. So I am going to eat 6-8 fresh large tomatoes daily for next month, I suspect!

The80sweregreat · 19/08/2020 12:29

Found a smooth hair product that actually works!

rosiethehen · 19/08/2020 12:34

I accidentally dropped my favourite stoneware beaker and it smashed, but I have got a nice new one on ebay.

FawnDrench · 19/08/2020 12:34

I've just had poached eggs, ham and 2 small tomatoes for lunch.

The dog is barking in a very half-hearted manner at nothing in particular while gazing out of the window.

I'm going to have a shower and wash my hair soon.

Ninkanink · 19/08/2020 12:40

We’re going to have a cooked breakfast for lunch.

Pork chipolatas
Streaky bacon
Fried eggs
Mushrooms, sautéed
Cherry tomatoes, sautéed
Baked beans
Hash browns

I’m having a cup of tea now.

MojoJojo71 · 19/08/2020 12:47

I’ve managed to decide which tiles I want for my new bathroom (Attingham seagrass) and have narrowed down the choice of bath to 2 options. I’m either having a ‘freestanding‘ bath with shower over or an L shaped one. Opinions welcome

I had a dissapointing ham and tomato sandwich for lunch "finest tomatoes" my eye Hmm

CathyorClaire · 19/08/2020 12:50

I've rolled up several individual listings on ebay into one. If that doesn't shift it, it will all go to the car boot sale. If that doesn't shift it, it will go to the charity shop.

Mmmmdanone · 19/08/2020 13:17

Asda has substituted dishwasher salt for dishwasher tablets in my delivery due later. Bit annoying as I don't need dishwasher salt, but have only one tablet left. So I'm now going to have to go to the shops specifically for dishwasher tablets. However, going to the shops will be more entertaining than anything else I've done today so I suppose it's not too bad. Have you fallen asleep yet?

Mmmmdanone · 19/08/2020 13:20

the80sweregreat do tell! I need some of that!

The80sweregreat · 19/08/2020 13:45

I've been using 'Percy and reed volumising no oil oil! ' I am not good with products usually on my hair but this came part of a set of products in the M and S beauty bag so I gave it a go : tiny bit on towel dried hair. I was surprised it worked and wasn't oily.

MrsExpo · 19/08/2020 13:49

It's absolutely p'ing down outside and i've got to take my dog for his walk. Another wet coat (and dog) to dry out.

ilovepixie · 19/08/2020 14:00

I got my eyebrows waxed today.
I bought a big cabbage.
My OH has lost the salt and dish cloth.

BikeRunSki · 19/08/2020 14:07

DS needs new shoes. He is an adult size 8 and obsessed with orange. Orange trainers are increasingly hard to find for his big feet, but we found some that are suitably orange enough on M&M direct.

Ninkanink · 19/08/2020 14:33

I skipped the baked beans for lunch.

I’ve now made a banana loaf cake, which will be ready in about an hour.

BatleyTownswomensGuild · 19/08/2020 14:46

I've seen some really nice curtain fabric for the spare bedroom.

Purpleice · 19/08/2020 14:48

Just made rose water and honey madeleines. They’re amazing.

MaMisled · 19/08/2020 14:48

I decided to eat up a tin of macaroni cheese that's been lying around for a year. It was surprisingly tasty.

MrsBobDylan · 19/08/2020 14:49

I haven't bought any school uniform yet. And now I am worried because a few on this thread have.

I think I'm going to have a nap on the sofa and see if I wake up feeling better about the whole debacle.

Could I respectfully ask people not to mention school uniforms please?

I have Egyptian toes.

MrsBobDylan · 19/08/2020 14:52

@MojoJojo71 L shaped for sure. I have never owned a freestanding bath but I would worry about muck gathering underneath and around the bottom of the bath.

This is not ok if you don't clean properly, however, if you are a tidy sort, it will probs be ok.

MojoJojo71 · 19/08/2020 15:07

@MrsBobDylan I am definitely not the tidy sort so L shaped probably best

Bells3032 · 19/08/2020 15:09

We have had our first cupid box delievered today with everything you need for a night it (non sexual). this months theme is sports and looks really fun. Gonna give it a go tonight though not sure on the space wise in our tiny flat.

Also currently awaiting my first piece of Chewlery (jewellery made for chewers) to try and refocus my chewing habit from my nails.
