To Have Murderous Thoughts About Colleague?

I’m leaving my job and my replacement was hired, so I’m handing over.

Today he’s been reviewing my work over the last few months to get familiar with the accounts and when I asked how he was getting on, his reply was ‘it’s all quite good actually! I’m really surprised!’ Hmm

Later in the day, he commented that ‘you’re actually quite good at your job aren’t you?’

Then ‘well done, this looks like you planned it this way’

He also proceeded to explain my job to me in great detail. Over. And over. And over again. All the while, asking very very basic questions and eventually I said ‘yep, that’s very standard, have you not seen that before?’ To call him out on it and he replied ‘yeah I have, I just wanted to see if you knew why it’s done that way’

I DID FUCKING PLAN IT THAT WAY, IM VERY GOOD AT MY JOB AND YOU ARE REPLACING ME BECAUSE IM MOVING TO A MUCH, MUCH MORE SENIOR ROLE YOU INTOLLERABLE, MANSPLAINING SHART GOBLIN Angry

Somebody PLEASE lend me their willpower because I’m one ‘well done’ away from stapling a gold star to his fucking forehead.

I need to bite my tongue so I can leave and get to my new job but I’m really bloody struggling Sad

Plus he’d have to get his man brain around the concept that women might have anything of value to say. He probably thinks MN is just a site where the little women chat about babies, and exchange recipes and knitting patterns -there is no way he’d ever think we might have intelligent, humourous and wide ranging discussions on every topic under the sun!

OH GOOD LORD THIS IS MAGICAL.

I’ve just finished chatting to manager.

SO prepare yourselves ladies. BRACE and assume the position.

Does everyone have a cup of tea?

SG was informed he wasn’t suitable for the role and that he would be paid until the end of the week.

SG said he felt this was unfair and he planned to ‘take this further’. He then left.

5 minutes later he returned to the meeting room to question if my manager had the authority to dismiss him.

I SHIT YOU NOT.

She called in Mr HR to confirm for SG that she did indeed have this authority and he was not required to work his 1 week notice.

He then proceeded to lecture HR man about HR, informing him this had been mismanaged and he had not had a warning etc before being dismissed and did he know this was illegal?

HR man told him he should leave as none of this was the case, he was in his notice period and therefore had 1 week notice etc.

SG stormed out, slammed the door and left to the immortal words ‘you’ll be hearing from my solicitor!’

I can’t even begin to imagine what a solicitor would say to him Confused

A solicitor would inform him that as he has less than 2 years service there is fuck all SG can do about it.
