Oooo I received an anonymous letter this morning...from THE VILLAGERS 😬

Will post a pic later but need to redact info first.

An A4 page complaining about rubbish outside my house, that they’ve been picking it up for months, I have a responsibility to secure my rubbish and I have two weeks to get 2/3 wheelie bins or “measures will be taken”

It’s actually quite polite tbf if you ignore the subtle threat

Only problem is....it isn’t my fucking rubbish! We locked the gate to the field a few months ago and everyone now flytips outside the farm instead (by everyone I mean a few wankers) usually black bags that have missed the bin men/women. They use to chuck them on our farm bonfire but as the gate is locked they throw them on the bondary of my property. My rubbish is kept on my property until bin day.

Unfortunately they’ve missed all the signs saying we have CCTV so I’ll be having a look to see if I can see any pitchforks and angry villagers when I get back from the school run

This has been one of the best threads in a long time. Please keep up updated on new thread OP.

PanPanPanPing · 29/06/2018 20:09

Any news from NiceVillageLady, after her visit to the WI/LetterWriter?!

Bekabeech · 30/06/2018 08:47

Love this thread!

My experience of anonymous letters. I was on a consultation committee for a company who was involved in an unpopular local project. One of the bosses mentioned his staff had got anonymous threatening letters. I mentioned it to Neighbour who chaired the local Action Committee, and she was cross but also knew who it was. I think she "had a word".
My only other experience was that I received an anonymous letter once (reported to police) but I suspect it was misdelivered and should have gone to Neighbour.
I now suspect I know who the letter writer was. I still see her around but I don't think she has a clue who I am, fortunately.

wowfudge · 30/06/2018 09:09

I suspect the OP is letting this die as she’s not updated for a while and was getting closer to finding out who it was, etc. Happy to be proved wrong.

FlybirdFly · 30/06/2018 11:54

I’m here!!

Sorry had a manic day yesterday. Woke up to a flat tyre in the morning Hmm, can’t see anything on CCTV so hopefully not suspicious and then Ddog needed emergency vet. I haven’t seen VillageLady yet but will see if I can track her down today.

However, washing basket has been removed by persons unknown. Nobody on the farm moved it or disposed of it so that’s a bit weird 🤔

DD thinks I should buy a little mini toy wheelie bin and put it outside chained to the fence Grin. I’m very tempted

I hope your dog is OK?

Hahaha at toy wheelie bin Grin

FlybirdFly · 30/06/2018 12:05

Thanks Pan, she’s suddenly got bald patches all over and is clawing at her skin making it bleed. Very strange as no fleas at all? Vet gave her steroids and antibiotics

PanPanPanPing · 30/06/2018 12:06

Aww, poor thing. Hopefully it will clear up quickly now though.

KeepServingTheDrinks · 30/06/2018 12:08

Did she eat the laundry basket?

iknowimcoming · 30/06/2018 12:09

Sorry you had a rubbish day yesterday OP - however we do NEED a new thread before this one fills up! Pretty please Grin

80sMum · 30/06/2018 12:22

I'm new to the thread and don't have time to read it all, sorry, but I find myself compelled to comment on the note that the OP received.

If I had received the note, I would have assumed that it was just a couple of local kids messing about. I don't believe it was written by adults, as it "sounds" like a child speaking - and also of course the appalling spelling and grammatical errors give it away.

I would guess the age of the writer to be about 9 or 10 years old (and if I were their parent I would be complaining to the school about the low standard of English teaching!)

kaitlinktm · 30/06/2018 12:48

Of course the writers aren't 9 or 10 years old - the writing is all wrong for a child.

Not surprised someone has blamed teachers for this though. Grin

Break the scratching habit with a lampshade of shame. Have a look at her food. Manufacturers don’t notify you of changes. Grain often causes itchiness. Oddly, chicken is one of the prime causes of allergies too.

Part 2 for anyone who wants to see what happens when the two weeks run out 😬

OP posts:
80sMum · 30/06/2018 13:26

kaitlinktm but the letter comes across as very childlike, don't you think? I can't believe that a fully fledged adult wrote it.

kaitlinktm · 30/06/2018 15:15

I am almost as sure as I can be that it is not written by a child. The language is not what a child would use - it is very pompous. Bad spelling is not limited to children.

PanPanPanPing · 30/06/2018 15:20

80sMum. I think that kaitlinktm is correct. There was some debate, way upthread - which you've admitted that you haven't read - that the writer is probably older, but probably not elderly, they may have had a poor eduction and is also probably dyslexic.

IntergalacticP · 30/06/2018 22:12

The worst part of this thread is how many unread emails you have in your inbox Grin

Monkee4 · 30/06/2018 22:41

I think it's the Chair looking at his note. He mentions he was picking up litter and how angry he was about it.... sorry OP if you went to college with his wife but he sounds like a "knob" to me

LornaMumsnet · 01/07/2018 10:19

Hi folks,

We're moving this over to classics now.

AlpacaLypse · 01/07/2018 10:21
