Oooo I received an anonymous letter this morning...from THE VILLAGERS 😬

Will post a pic later but need to redact info first.

An A4 page complaining about rubbish outside my house, that they’ve been picking it up for months, I have a responsibility to secure my rubbish and I have two weeks to get 2/3 wheelie bins or “measures will be taken”

It’s actually quite polite tbf if you ignore the subtle threat

Only problem is....it isn’t my fucking rubbish! We locked the gate to the field a few months ago and everyone now flytips outside the farm instead (by everyone I mean a few wankers) usually black bags that have missed the bin men/women. They use to chuck them on our farm bonfire but as the gate is locked they throw them on the bondary of my property. My rubbish is kept on my property until bin day.

Unfortunately they’ve missed all the signs saying we have CCTV so I’ll be having a look to see if I can see any pitchforks and angry villagers when I get back from the school run

Someone had dumped a bag of clothes yesterday which had split open and were all over the road. I did collect them and took them to the clothes collection bank in the village. Maybe they saw me picking them up and think that means it’s my rubbish!

QOD · 25/06/2018 08:09

Wtaf!?
Add a no fly tipping sign too

MrsMozart · 25/06/2018 08:10

Yikes. I hope the pitchforks are locked up and the keys have been lost!

bluerunningshoes · 25/06/2018 08:10

tbf now that the rubbish is on your property it is yours to deal with...
it sucks but that's how it is.

I hope you have a nice clear picture on cctv and can report the fucker to environmental health.

Aprilshouldhavebeenmyname · 25/06/2018 08:10

No fly tippers
No cf's either
Grin

FlybirdFly · 25/06/2018 08:10

For clarification they are leaving their rubbish where my rubbish is collected from. So I suppose it does look like it might be my rubbish. But fuck off with your anonymous notes fgs!

Why would anyone assume rubbish outside locked gates would belong to that house?! Weird

FlybirdFly · 25/06/2018 08:12

Well, the road isn’t my property. They meant to fly tip it on our property but couldn’t. I leave my rubbish on the verge which I reckon is owned by the council?!

SoupDragon · 25/06/2018 08:12

I want to know what “measures” will be taken!

It would be marvellous if the CCTV showed the fly tipper(s) were some of the “villagers” who wrote the letter.

Coldhandscoldheart · 25/06/2018 08:13

Do you have anything like a parish magazine? Could you write a piece about the problems you’re having with fly tippers in your property?
Perhaps point out the penalties for fly tipping and that you have cctv.
It’s sometging that quite a few councils are becoming a bit more hard line about I think - vaguely saw something on countryfile a few months ago.

HotNoodle · 25/06/2018 08:13

Have you already made the council aware if the fly tipping.

If not you'd best do so before you are on the back foot of a complaint about you.
If you have already made the council aware just sit back and let the villagers jump to auumptions and make tots out of themselves!

suckmasterburstingfoam · 25/06/2018 08:15

It sounds like you have some good allies in The Villagers! You both want the flytipping wankers to stop (they just don't know the wankers aren't you). Can you find out who brought the note and get them on your side? If you don't recognise them from the CCTV, ask around, or put a note on your gate, asking them to phone you. Sounds like they're not afraid of taking action. You could work together to catch/deter/frighten the flytippers.

Singlenotsingle · 25/06/2018 08:18

An article or letter in your local newspaper, mentioning the CCTV, might do the trick

Chocolatecoffeeaddict · 25/06/2018 08:19

Ring the council and explain everything. They will have to put measures in place for the fly tipping and if anything comes back on you, they will have a record of you speaking to them.
I had a similar problem a few years ago when I lived in a flat above a shop. The wheelie bins were down an alley and business owners would use to fly tip and whole alley was a disgrace. I never had anywhere to put my rubbish as they would be filled overnight. The council ended up taking the flat's bins away as they thought it was people in the flats causing the mess.

KlutzyDraconequus · 25/06/2018 08:19

This just in... The Villagers have been spotted and photographed at a thing to discuss the nuisance neighbour..

Juells · 25/06/2018 08:22

Is there a village noticeboard?

Large notice on it about anonymous letters being sent to you, and you can't be responsible for what flytippers leave.

FlybirdFly · 25/06/2018 08:23

Before I post the letter is there any way of saying I refuse consent for it to be shared or published elsewhere? Yes DM I’m talking about you

OP posts:
Rocinante1 · 25/06/2018 08:23

Put an A3 notice in the church or village hall (or cafe - whatever the villagers like to gather) to warn that flytippers caught on CCTV will have the footage forwarded to the police as their actions are causing rubbish to spread around the village etc.

cornishmumtobe · 25/06/2018 08:24

@FlybirdFly can you annotate the letter with 'the DM is a pile of crap'? That should do the trick....

Rocinante1 · 25/06/2018 08:24

Change your username to fuckthedailymail or something along those lines. They won't want to publish that.

PanPanPanPing · 25/06/2018 08:24

You have my sympathy. I hope you get to the bottom of it and get it sorted.

We had an anonymous note, the evening of the Royal wedding, about a loud party in our back garden - all afternoon and evening - where people were 'shouting and swearing'. Except we hadn't had a party; in fact we'd barely been into the garden apart from DP cutting the grass and me hanging out some laundry!

There appeared to be a RW party some doors down from us, but we didn't know which house (we're in a road of Victorian terraced houses) and, because we'd barely been in the garden, we weren't really aware of how much noise they'd been making.

I thought the writer might have blanket door-dropped the note to a number of houses - but I asked a neighbour, she said they hadn't had one.
