Oooo I received an anonymous letter this morning...from THE VILLAGERS 😬

Will post a pic later but need to redact info first.

An A4 page complaining about rubbish outside my house, that they’ve been picking it up for months, I have a responsibility to secure my rubbish and I have two weeks to get 2/3 wheelie bins or “measures will be taken”

It’s actually quite polite tbf if you ignore the subtle threat

Only problem is....it isn’t my fucking rubbish! We locked the gate to the field a few months ago and everyone now flytips outside the farm instead (by everyone I mean a few wankers) usually black bags that have missed the bin men/women. They use to chuck them on our farm bonfire but as the gate is locked they throw them on the bondary of my property. My rubbish is kept on my property until bin day.

Unfortunately they’ve missed all the signs saying we have CCTV so I’ll be having a look to see if I can see any pitchforks and angry villagers when I get back from the school run

Print out some CCTV pictures of the wankers perpetrators and put them through the locals' letterboxes along with a note.

Or you could stick posters on lampposts and telegraph poles.

Imchlibob · 25/06/2018 08:29

Anything you post here on mn you lose control of copyright.

You could put the image on Web space you personally own, or on a different image-sharing site that allows users to retain copyright, along with a notice refusing any permission to share further. There are also websites that will allow you to "watermark" images so you could add a watermark saying "daily mail readers are all cunts" which should help.

NotARegularPenguin · 25/06/2018 08:31

Is there a village fb group? Could you post on there that it’s not your rubbish? Bet it’s not from “the villagers”, it’ll be one person.

cantfindname · 25/06/2018 08:33

Maybe an over reaction but I would be incandescent with rage at getting an anonymous letter like this! What spineless bloody cowards! Surely someone could have come and talked to you and then you could have had the opportunity to explain the situation? But no.. push a nasty note through the box and run away...

I suggest a notice put up in local shop/notice board and also a sign on the layby where the fly tippers tip. I also suggest attending your next Parish Council meeting and making your feelings known about anonymous letters as well as about the fly-tipping problem.

SandyFagina · 25/06/2018 08:34

Have they built the wicker man yet?

Collaron · 25/06/2018 08:34

Anonymous notes = arseholes

rollingonariver · 25/06/2018 08:34

This is great!
Can you see on the CCTV who is doing it?

LittleMe03 · 25/06/2018 08:37

Bloody fly tippers make me angry! Angry

PickAChew · 25/06/2018 08:38

I bet the villagers are one outspoken person and a couple of their nodding and smiling neighbours.

Takfujuimoto · 25/06/2018 08:40

Oh don't mind me, carry on 😉😊

PanPanPanPing · 25/06/2018 08:43

Do you have a local pub with a community notice board? The more places you can indicate your innocence and annoyance with the flytippers, the better.

ResistanceIsNecessary · 25/06/2018 08:46

Oh I'd love to be a fly on the wall when you review the CCTV footage!!

Identify the culprit and then write them a direct letter pointing out that you identified them from your - clearly marked - CCTV and tell them what you've told us here.

I'd also embrace the "measures":

I'm so glad that you agree that the fly-tipping is unacceptable and that measures will need to be taken. I presume this means you will be organising volunteers to come and patrol and litter pick? At the moment I am having to gather all the rubbish by myself and I'm very grateful of your offer of help. Please let me know the time that suits you best each week to come round.

CheesyWeez · 25/06/2018 08:51

I agree with writing to the Parish Council about it and they will discuss it at their next meeting or invite you to come and talk about it. They will be able to ask the county council for a solution or suggest their own. Our parish council pays for a public skip near the pub car park from time to time so people can come and tip their stuff easily (otherwise you need a vehicle to drive to a proper tip which is miles away, as village is quite rural) A charity may want to put a clothes bank near you - the PC can give permission. A Parish Councillor may come and look with you if you go through the fly-tipped rubbish and possibly find an address for someone who tipped it.

Mrsmadevans · 25/06/2018 08:52

We had an anon letter too , saying that a neighbour was a paedophile , we took no notice the police were called and they found out who did it. We never heard another thing, though speculation was rife at the time that it was a rival for the local gardening business Hmm
The neighbours were awful though , instead of looking at the man and the way he had behaved toward everyone over many years they were all branding him and saying 'no smoke without fire '.I didn't btw l said to judge by his past character but some ppl are just really stupid.
Hope you find the culprits OP.

PositivelyPERF · 25/06/2018 08:52

Wriggles bum on seat Excuse me. pulls up another chair

SleepingStandingUp · 25/06/2018 08:57

I'd report the fly tipping to the council every time and casual mention to the mogul gossip that you're flipping annoyed at having to do so.

So you have any ideas who sent the note / is fly tipping? Could you send anonymous notes back??

LivingMyBestLife · 25/06/2018 08:59

Rude user names are just pixelated out by the Daily Mail, or they have been previously. It doesn't stop them posting the comment unfortunately.

sleepingdragons · 25/06/2018 09:03

you could add a watermark saying "daily mail readers are all cunts" which should help

i like your thinking Grin

turnaroundbrighteyes · 25/06/2018 09:07

I'd laminate it and stick it on your gate along with a response.

If you havent lived there long though I wonder if it would be worth while getting in touch with the last owners to ask if anyone had their permission to chuck stuff on the bonfire as that might help you track down the fly tipper.

Corneliusmurphy · 25/06/2018 09:08

Is anyone else muttering 'for the greater good...' whilst reading this? Be afraid op, be very afraid.... Grin

Scrumptiousbears · 25/06/2018 09:09

This is going to brighten my day Grin

Racecardriver · 25/06/2018 09:10

Have you reported this to the council? The fly tipping, not the weirdo letter.

OliviaStabler · 25/06/2018 09:11

Anonymous notes = arseholes

Actually there was one instance where it really worked. Some git moved onto our street with a dog but he never cleaned up its poop. he just left it there on the pavement. Anonymous notes were posted through the door of every house on the street telling us who it was and what number to call to report him.

Didn't see any dog poop after that.

TheMaddHugger · 25/06/2018 09:12

Gimma a mo, just got ta find a comfy chair

WindyWednesday · 25/06/2018 09:17

Sounds like they are in your side and might help if you combine forces. Shame it’s anonymous as they could reply. Do you have a post office in the village, they are useful for this type of thing. They know everything. I’d rock up in the post office and say you’ve had a strange letter and you’d like them to help “take actions” against the fly tippers.

Post office will deny knowing anything and then they will spread the word out to the community.
