Oooo I received an anonymous letter this morning...from THE VILLAGERS 😬

Will post a pic later but need to redact info first.

An A4 page complaining about rubbish outside my house, that they’ve been picking it up for months, I have a responsibility to secure my rubbish and I have two weeks to get 2/3 wheelie bins or “measures will be taken”

It’s actually quite polite tbf if you ignore the subtle threat

Only problem is....it isn’t my fucking rubbish! We locked the gate to the field a few months ago and everyone now flytips outside the farm instead (by everyone I mean a few wankers) usually black bags that have missed the bin men/women. They use to chuck them on our farm bonfire but as the gate is locked they throw them on the bondary of my property. My rubbish is kept on my property until bin day.

Unfortunately they’ve missed all the signs saying we have CCTV so I’ll be having a look to see if I can see any pitchforks and angry villagers when I get back from the school run

brilliant, obv. Now I look as literate as your correspondent!

KirstenRaymonde · 25/06/2018 09:44

That’s a really badly written letter. Unnecessary slashes, capitals in the middle of sentences.... I’m with PPs - anything like a parish magazine or local newspaper you can write something in? What do you leave your rubbish in on the verges, is it a bin and then these other bags just put around it?

StableGenius · 25/06/2018 09:45

The tone of that is definitely threatening - I wouldn't want to be in the fasinate of the writer.

FlybirdFly · 25/06/2018 09:45

I will try for a diagram but can barely draw a stick man!

Fasinate is a brilliant word (I had to google it)

If the Daily Mail get hold of this hopefully the writer of this cowardly missive would feel thoroughly ashamed of themself!

The handwriting looks mad you would have thought that they would have used a wordprocessor in order to remain more aononymous.

GetInMaBelleh · 25/06/2018 09:47

Haha I hate anonymous notes!! Cowardly

PallygatorRockodile · 25/06/2018 09:48

Well, I can say with almost 100% certainty that that letter contains all the classic symptoms to look out for when ascertaining whether or not someone has dyslexia. This may help you narrow your search down.

Do you have a local community police officer? I think I would have a chat with them about the fly tipping / waste dumping and the letter. No need to do anything more than have a chat, but they may have some good advice on how best to deal with it.

I actually think the letter is quite threatening too.

PallygatorRockodile · 25/06/2018 09:49

PS. Why didn't you want the DM to feature this? It would scare the bejebus out of whoever wrote it knowing they'd been featured in a crappy national shite wipe.

Fasinate has me puzzled in the context of that sentence, unless it's a mispelling of vicinity?

Bluetrews25 · 25/06/2018 09:51

Police? MP? Local councillor? All three?
For help, that is, not suggesting they are the writer!
That letter is threatening in tone and Is Just Not On.
Get the big guns on your side.

lubeybooby · 25/06/2018 09:52

tbh it will look like it's your rubbish and I don't get why you haven't tried to get some help from the parish council with it being a constant problem

I'd put up a sign addressed to the 'villagers' informing them that it is flytipping, and hence you won't be buying extra wheelie bins

...and call the parish council see what can be done.

Dowser · 25/06/2018 09:52

Yes definitely go to the police.
Put a notice on the church notice board informing the perpetrators of the letter that threats will not be taken lightly.

4mogirl · 25/06/2018 09:53

Yes I wondered about fascinate/vicinity too?!Grin

Dowser · 25/06/2018 09:55

Keep your pets safe

Juells · 25/06/2018 09:55

"A copy of this letter is being kept"

The ultimate threat!

Sent by somebody who's trying to sound grand. I love all the alternatives provided - asked/requested 😂

ApolloandDaphne · 25/06/2018 09:56

I think it is a very threatening letter and would take it to the police just in case the 'measures to make you think' are invoked.

FlybirdFly · 25/06/2018 09:56

Lubey, it doesn’t really bother me except when the bags get ripped open. We don’t have the rules that other areas do re number or bags/wheelie bins etc. They just turn up every week and take the black bags away. It’s only when they get ripped open it’s a PITA.

holasoydora · 25/06/2018 09:56

My Villagers love nothing more than being outraged about fly tippers, so make sure you tell them that is what it is, and they will probably revert to your side instantly - ours have managed to successfully have some regular fly tippers prosecuted. They were fly tipping outside a local farm too, not their own houses. Speak to your parish/local councillor?

glitterbiscuits · 25/06/2018 09:57

I was expecting a typed, formal style letter. That letter is vile. Very unpleasant.
I hope you get to the bottom of this OP

Ooopsijustsnarted · 25/06/2018 09:57

Sorry, excuse me. Just trying to find a seat. 🍿

FlybirdFly · 25/06/2018 09:57

We have our own village bobby funded by the parish council. She always looks a bit bored, I’m going to call her today!

holasoydora · 25/06/2018 09:58

Threatening letters won't be from Parish council types though - that isn't on. Get the ones in the know on your side and put a sign up.
