Oooo I received an anonymous letter this morning...from THE VILLAGERS 😬

Will post a pic later but need to redact info first.

An A4 page complaining about rubbish outside my house, that they’ve been picking it up for months, I have a responsibility to secure my rubbish and I have two weeks to get 2/3 wheelie bins or “measures will be taken”

It’s actually quite polite tbf if you ignore the subtle threat

Only problem is....it isn’t my fucking rubbish! We locked the gate to the field a few months ago and everyone now flytips outside the farm instead (by everyone I mean a few wankers) usually black bags that have missed the bin men/women. They use to chuck them on our farm bonfire but as the gate is locked they throw them on the bondary of my property. My rubbish is kept on my property until bin day.

Unfortunately they’ve missed all the signs saying we have CCTV so I’ll be having a look to see if I can see any pitchforks and angry villagers when I get back from the school run

I know it’s a silly letter, to do it anonymously. However they are on your side, I’d use them as allies! Is there a local shop / local person? Get talking and gossiping about how fed up you are about the fly tipping. Win them around. Report to council too. Put in newsletter.

In the long term they are probably all okay people, that you’ll feel safer knowing in the village. I bet you’ll either get an embarrassed apology or neighbours who will stick up for you.

Batteriesallgone · 25/06/2018 09:23

Maybe the note is from the fly tipper

It’s a double cross

NomNomNomNom · 25/06/2018 09:23

I'd probably put a sign outside my door specifically addressed to fly tippers. Angry letter writer will probably see it too and realise it's not your rubbish.

So low to send an anonymous note, doesn't give you chance to defend yourself! Def speak to the postman, if he's anything like ours the whole village will know by this afternoon Grin

MaxAndNevDoDallas · 25/06/2018 09:27

How cheeky people leaving rubbish on your doorstep

I’d be fuming

FlybirdFly · 25/06/2018 09:30

Ok have watermarked the photo.

Just to clarify: people use to dump all kinds of crap on the bonfire so we put up a locked gate. That stopped the bulky stuff from being dumped (sofas beds etc). What happens now is that 4/5 random black bags will turn up once a week and get left where I leave my rubbish on bin day. However if they leave them before bin day they end up getting ripped open by the foxes. I’ve been picking up that rubbish for ages. Same as random MacDonald’s detritus chucked out of car windows and newspapers strewn all over the road (I don’t even take a daily newspaper).

Here is pic! Hope you can read ok with watermark

They should have typed the letter, now you can do some handwriting analysis Grin.

WindyWednesday · 25/06/2018 09:36

What a strange letter. Hard to make out with all the spelling mistakes and ///. I’d have thought the handwriting would be easy to match up in the village as well.

I wonder if it is your fly tippers, cross that they haven’t had access to the/your personal/communal village bonfire.

I was expecting a typed official busybody letter. This isn’t so that’s strange in its self.

LittleMissSurrey · 25/06/2018 09:37

That is a bloody rude note!! I would be so mad!! Can you put a sign up saying 'No Fly Tipping - CCTV in use and offenders will be reported' near where the bins are collected? Also put a note on your door saying 'To any concerned parties, please note that my rubbish stays locked in the farm until collection day, and whilst I pick up what I can, I cannot take responsibility for other people's rubbish!
Man, I am fuming on your behalf!!

FlaviaAlbia · 25/06/2018 09:37

A copy of this letter is being kept

That makes things easier. Now you just have to break into and search the houses of the likely suspects to find that copy and replace it with another one saying "I know what you did Grin

Ah go on...

WindyWednesday · 25/06/2018 09:37

BTW loving the watermark.

Aprilshouldhavebeenmyname · 25/06/2018 09:38

Bloody hell that's very bullying imo!!

pingoose · 25/06/2018 09:38

“But quite to very often” has absolutely tickled me.

fuzzyfozzy · 25/06/2018 09:38

Wow, I feel the need to put full stops in the middle of my sentences and lots of /

I'd laminate it and stick it on the fence for all to read with a measured response.
Check your cctv and report

WindyWednesday · 25/06/2018 09:39

Defo take it to the post office. Ask around for help with the fly tipping.

FlybirdFly · 25/06/2018 09:40

Interesting that they have spelt the name of my lane wrong (it’s a weird name). Either they don’t live on the lane and just walk their dogs down here OR it’s a double bluff 🕵️‍♀️

You have two weeks!!!

I want to see what happens in two weeks, maybe they’ll buy me a wheelie bin?!

ScattyCharly · 25/06/2018 09:42

I’d put up notices on your door and in the area where litter is fly tipped and in a local shop (if it’s the kind of place where everyone uses a single shop).

You should say on the notice that the rubbish is fly tipped and doesn’t belong to you. Say yes please do report it to the council. (You should report to the council if you haven’t already and keep taking photos).

I wouldn’t want to be on the receiving end of the “measures”. Although the letter is relatively polite, it is actually threatening and I’d take a photocopy to the police. They could out dog shit under your car door handles, that sort of nasty behaviour. “Measures” is a threat to take the law into their own hands. And basically since you can’t fix the problem, you can’t stop yourself from being a victim of this person’s measures.

WindyWednesday · 25/06/2018 09:42

I think it’s the fly tippers. They want to use your bin, they have a build up of waste they need to shift.

SparklyMagpie · 25/06/2018 09:42

Ahaha that letter is brilliant "to make you think " and "Yours, certain villagers"

😂😂😂😂

BoreOfWhabylon · 25/06/2018 09:43

Oh, now that is indeed a threadworthy note.

Although, I do feel we need a diagram to fully appreciate exactly where the flytippers are flytipping.

Cleanerswin · 25/06/2018 09:44

That isn’t a letter from a village group. It’s from one rather strange individual. If I got that I would copy it then take the original to the police station and explain what’s happened. Ring the Council too. And send the letter to everyone you know in the village, local magazine, everyone. (I have had experience of this kind of thing, sadly).

ItWillAllBeOkayInTheEnd · 25/06/2018 09:44

messures could get taken - brlliant!

FlybirdFly · 25/06/2018 09:44

Hmm, well we don’t reallu burn much rubbish any more as local councillor kept calling the fire brigade to put it out as it was out of control Hmm. Farmers have been having bonfires and burning farm waste on that spot for over 100 years.

Ooooo maybe it’s him?!
