What is SFE @pigeonpigpie?

Just a heads up if anyone is doing Populus or whatever they are called now surveys, I've just spent 15 mins doing a really badly designed survey about football (filtering didn't pick out that I couldn't care less about football) then got rejected on the last question!! Because they also eh same As gain and if you accidentally click the wrong button and they don't match, you get the boot. No chance to correct.

So once they've paid out my £50 I'll be deactivating on that platform, no time for that sort of shenanigans!

PigeonPigPie · 24/02/2022 20:07

Oh sorry - SFE = Student Finance England Smile

CocoPrivileges · 25/02/2022 10:53

I feel your pain @anxiouswaiting - I spent absolutely hours trying to qualify for SC and even when I eventually sneaked in I literally didn't make a penny out of it Angry

Agree with @8dpwoah that Populus / YLive is another waste of time - I've written off whatever credit I'd built up. I don't mind answering a few quick filtering questions, but spending ages providing very detailed answers on a huge range of questions, only to get filtered out, is not on.

Catatemyhomework · 25/02/2022 11:30

Hi everyone! Just thought I'd pop on as not been here for a while. I am still plodding on with Y**on and my Telus project. I took the week off this week for half term and needed a break. Anyway, just thought I'd mention that there is a voice recording job on Teamai at the moment if anyone's interested. I've just done it and they're still looking for people. It pays $30 and is actually very straight forward.

justalittlebitextra · 25/02/2022 14:19

@8dpwoah I did that Populus/ YLive one this morning but I think I got paid for it - I was expecting to be booted out at any point as well as I have no interest in football at all. I generally don't mind their surveys as they pay on the better side, but I did get annoyed when I made a mistake like that when they are checking whether you are paying attention over a really detailed question about when I'd last been on various types of holiday and I genuinely couldn't remember!

Anyone else doing the smartglasses one on Ap - I was quite excited about it, but it is a massive PITA, the stupid glasses don't pair properly and it takes forever to set up each set, so I can't see me doing many sets. I'm a bit gutted as I initially thought I'd manage to do loads, but my house is just not set up for it as it's really difficult to film in the exact conditions they want and at the required distance. I'm waiting to see if my first couple of sets pass QA before I do anymore.

Anyone been invited to qualify for PW - I've had a quick look (obviously can't actually download the full guidelines yet) but I'm already thinking I'll never manage the tasks per hour they require.

@rhij86
@Buster27
How did you both get added to potato shifts? Did you ask?
Do you receive an additional payment, on top of moderating the normal queues?
Or do you moderate in bespoke, etc?
Is it worth it? (Ie plenty of content)

Sorry about all the questions!

rhij86 · 26/02/2022 05:55

@PorpoiseWithPurpose will try to answer your questions as best I can without breaking any 'rules'!

How did you both get added to potato shifts? Did you ask?

Every now and then in slack they'll say they're looking for people to work on an additional tax between certain times (e.g. between midnight and 6am UK time), and if you're interested, fill out the form and they'll be in touch. From what I understand you need to have been working normal queues for a year before they will consider you.

Do you receive an additional payment, on top of moderating the normal queues? When you are doing the
Or do you moderate in bespoke, etc?

It's working in the bespoke queues, so you don't also work normal queues at the same time. It's a flat hourly-payment.

Is it worth it? (Ie plenty of content)

In my opinion yes - regardless of how busy the queues are, if you are scheduled on a shift you will be paid the hourly rate for working, whether you moderate 100 items or 1000

@PigeonPigPie

Found out yesterday that you can apply to have SFE overpayments refunded (where you haven't met the threshold over the year for repayments). You can message them on 'SFE repayments' page on facebook. I've got £250 refund coming after exchanging three messages! Grin
Is this legit? Student finance have refunded you via messages on facebook? Thought it would be more difficult than that, do you have any more info? Thanks
Buster27 · 26/02/2022 10:19

@PorpoiseWithPurpose Yep, same as @rhij86 for me. I've only been doing the shifts for a couple of weeks but so far enjoying it and looks to be a decent earner.

8dpwoah · 26/02/2022 21:59

Thank you @animalcrossingfan2021 I have used your code, I've never used topcashback but that looks good in itself too!

AnotherOne4 · 27/02/2022 15:37

Any TopCashback experts out there? I've used it a few times now, and all my transactions say 'pending'. (I've looked into what this means, and understand the concept) But how long does it usually take before they approve the cashback?

@AnotherOne4 it depends on the company that you have purchased from most take around 3 months to turn from pending to confirmed some are quicker.
ruralwanderer · 27/02/2022 17:00

@anotherone4, usually there's a bit on the merchant's page which says their turnaround time, some like The Works are very quick, others like Sainsbury's take ages. It's well worth doing though 👍

Is anyone on here doing work with Search Sciences? If so, how do you rate it in terms of work availability and pay?

howfartospar · 28/02/2022 07:41

has anyone had any experience of PeopleForReasearch refusing to pay? I signed up for a talk last week and got told that the client had had enough entries for the study. I was called to be told this but also that i would be paid for it regardless. Since then they've not paid me and have been ignoring all calls and emails. Was more than a bit disappointed with this company TBH.

ruralwanderer · 28/02/2022 08:31

@howfartospar, I've always been paid by PeopleForResearch without any issues. How much notice did they give you that you were no longer required? If more than 24 hours notice, I wouldn't expect payment but if I had been sat ready and waiting, I'd want paying and would chase it up. It's the last day of the month so they might be busy doing end of month admin, salaries, etc so maybe give them a few days then call again?

So I’ve had a name change but dabbled a bit over her last year. I wasn’t particularly successful at anything other than prolific which I managed to make £35 in a couple of months, not life changing but every little helps right!!

I now have a chrome book and determined to have another go with the likes of Appen, click worker etc.

I have a few questions though, I have had absolutely nothing pop up on prolific since I signed back in a few days ago. I’ve gone and updated all my info and categories but it hasn’t made any difference. All my information is still there including past payment etc but wondering if there is a waiting list I’ve been turfed out for not being active.

I also find it quite tricky with a lot of the websites finding how you apply for work rather than looking for a service, crisp thinking for example, where is the menu/option to sit the test?
