thanks jelley

redshoes · 06/02/2007 10:11

Those who've got settlements, do you move banks afterwards?

scatterbrain · 06/02/2007 10:12

I haven't - no problems either - with First Direct

Jenski · 06/02/2007 10:18

I haven't read all of this but can this apply to credit card charges. Charges put me over my limit and now being charged for being over my limit so minimum payment being swallowed up!!

Skribble · 06/02/2007 10:30

Ironlady thanks for the info, I hope I don't have to go as far as taking them to court. I have another current account and I am going to get my wages paid there instead and we recently shifted out mortgage from Halifax too, I am still £200 overdrawn in my Halifax account , but if it comes to it I will take money from my visa to put the account at £00.00

Jelley · 06/02/2007 10:35

redshoes - no. I did open a back up account before I started the process, but haven't changed the dds that come out of the other account, so now I havetwo, and am being extremely carefu not to go over the limit again.

Right I might go for it!

inanidealworld · 07/02/2007 14:14

Hi! Stitchlloyds, did you have to change banks? I am plucking up the courage to send letter 2.

TheIronLady · 07/02/2007 21:02

Jenski: yes it does apply to credit cards!
Have a look at the Consumer Action Group Website under heading Forums - this site has a wealth of information.

chocolatebirdy · 07/02/2007 21:13

S88 sorry only just seen your question. We sent the letter to the branch the account is with.

Well done worley

lazyline · 07/02/2007 21:23

Have been thinking about starting this process, but wanted some more information regarding banks telling you to get lost. I have a personal loan with Natwest as well as my account, would there be any chance of them deciding that I had to pay the loan balance in full because I pissed them off? Or would they be less likely to tell me to sling my hook?

plummymummy · 08/02/2007 02:34

Anyone? Money back from Abbey? Was pissed off with the man in the bank on friday who told me he knew nothing about the OFT ruling and that the £30 charge was the same as it's always been

ItsMeMellowma · 08/02/2007 11:12

The Halifax have just taken my £10.00 cheque I sent them, for my statements, off my account, wankers!!

ivelostmyboobsboohoo · 08/02/2007 12:45

i sent letters to 2 baks last week or perhaps before requesting statements but think i sent them to wrong place- i sent them to my branch, stupidly thinking they would pass them on if thats what needed doing and havent heard anything. do you think i should send again but to head office this time?

justintyme · 08/02/2007 16:25

I urgently need some help.
I sent the "14 day" letter - downloaded from the BBC Money Programme to my bank Alliance & Leicester on 10th January 2007. They replied within a week saying "The Office of Fair Trading"......"were referring to credit card payments" not banks. I presume they are trying to fob me off. I'm hoping for some guidance and help in pursuing this. Are they fibbing? Should I contine? How much is it to go to small claims court? Do i need to tell my bank I am going to small claims as I told them in the "14 day letter" that I would have to if they did not refund my charges? Is it too late to continue as it's more that 14 days since i wrote to them. Can someone please help me.

ItsMeMellowma · 08/02/2007 16:28

I have been reading lots about this and it would seem that some people have had to go as far as taking out a small court claim summons, I don't think it costs too much perhaps under £50... I think when served the papers they usually back down.

Have you check the consumer fair trading website... cannot think what it is atm..

S88AHG · 08/02/2007 16:48

That is fantastic jambuttie!

Right, I am knew to this. I am planning on sending off my letter and cheque to get a list of all my charges (or statements) next week. However I don't think I'll be able to open an another account.

I am a student with a large overdraft at RBS, I went on the Bank of Scotland website to see if I could open another account there but they refused... (I don't think you are really allowed two student accounts!) does anyone have any advice? Should I start the reclaim process anyway? Perhaps I should just try to open a standard current account somewhere? ARGH.

LittleSarah · 10/02/2007 11:56

I am new to this.

jambuttie · 10/02/2007 12:13

RBS never closed my account and my overdraft is large we also got a loan from them about 4 weeks ago

mooshy · 10/02/2007 19:57

Littlesarah
Natwest will give you a solo account.
Good luck
