Curlywurlee · 09/11/2008 21:00

Night MM, talk soon

barbie1 · 09/11/2008 21:08

It was outside a nightclub called.........destiny! ! !

Oh how i cringe whenever somebody asks that!

To be fair it was a little more in depth....my mum has breast cancer and i had not been out for such a long time and my then bf at the time wasnt at all supportive.
My best friend at the time was going through a divorce and had been to see a fortune teller....keeping up?
Well on said night my best friend and my family all forced me to go out and let my hair down, best f told me the fortune teller told her she would meet a foreign looking guy with a tan and marry again, so we kept an eye out
Saw my now dh and v.drunk best f decided that was in fact the man she was told she was going to marry! Me being drunk brave decided to talk to him and then chickened out but he had spotted me....
Sometime later outside the club some random guy decided to pick me up and spin me around declaring his love for me, put me down and i promptly feel over james came to my rescue!
He told me to take his number and call to say i was safely home ahhh bless!
Got home to my then bf house and told him about james dont know what i was thinking! massive argument where i basically told him i didnt love him etc (been a long time coming)
Any how had holiday booked for following week so decided to give it another try...forgot about number in my purse.
Best friend found it a few days later and called james and pretended to be me! After a week of texting and meeting once in a local pub with friends i was smitten but i still had the holiday to go to.
I knew it was over for sure with bf before i even got on the plane as james waited up until 3.30 am to wish me a good holiday
Needless to say the holiday wasnt the best i had ever been on
6 months after the holiday dh and i were buying our own house and the rest as they say is history!

Hey, way to go girl! Go barbie, go barbie!

How is your mum btw? My mum had the very early (calcium deposits) stage of breast cancer picked up during a routine mammogram and underwent radiotherapy, followed by 5yrs of treatment but she was fine after that.

Anyone else care to tell us how they met their partner???...go on...

I really wish I'd come across this thread earlier as I think I tried to put my mc behind me too soon (that's a Scottish Prespeterian upbringing for you). Other than the first week post mc I never talk about it to anyone in RL (other than DH) and have spent all my energy on ttc which is good I know but I worry that it is going to bite me in the bum.

I had a catch up meeting with my boss last week and she mentioned that there was a 'sadness' to me which I admitted and said I was just counting the weeks 'til Christmas.

I was convinced I was having a girl and my close friend gave me a beautiful glass paperweight with a pink footprint on it as a memento which I cherish so good to hear of others taking comfort in similar ways.

On a lighter note in answer to your question Circular, I met my DH in the pub in 1999: closing time 1am, I drunkenly swaggered up to him at 12.30am and asked to buy him a pint. Bundled him off to my flat, made him listen to all my cool records (Black by Pearl Jam anyone ?). Bless him , he still tolerates me to this day!

Enought rambling, I bet this thread has another 20 posts since I started typing, apologies if I'm now out of date!

barbie1 · 09/11/2008 21:19

Mum is ok now thankyou, touch wood and all that! ended having a lumpetomy, 6 months of chemo and 6 intensive weeks of radio. Got all clear now but has other problems related to given treatment of the cancer nothing that medication isnt controlling though xxx

'twas fate for sure..

barbie1 · 09/11/2008 21:23

just to update you my best friend married a rugby player and not at all foreign looking!
James only looks slightly foreign due to him being abroad so much and a grandma from malta!

Funny how alcohol is featuring heavily in these initial liaisons....

Was I the only one sober?!

Curlywurlee · 09/11/2008 21:30

Circular I bet alcohol was involved at some stage So... what happened after the encounter on the stairs?!

Blue I don't blame you not talking to people in RL about the miscarriage. I had my first "trip" back to RL this weekend and had only told one friend in the group what had happened. She is a dear friend, but still managed to upset me with almost everything she said.

We will all probably obsess about TTC, but at least we can do it together now

curly - indeed! dh sent me an email and we met for coffee the following week (made him wait!) and then we took things from there...! So, your turn next...how did you meet your dh?

Curlywurlee · 09/11/2008 21:47

I met DH at work too! Saw him across a crowded room... but he was with someone else so I just pined for a while. About six months later a whole load of us from work were on a weekend away. We had this seventies night on the Friday, and (overcome by my brady bunch dress and knee high boots) he happened to mention that he was single again. I took this as my cue to suggest exploring a ruined castle we had seen on the way from the hotel. Anyway, we snuck off at 3am and got a taxi to the castle. He sprained his ankle climbing into the ruin. I broke a heel. We kissed, then limped happily back to the hotel. And the rest is history. Poor lad couldn't get his boot off his sprained ankle and had to sleep in it then drive home the next day.

justbeme · 09/11/2008 22:02

Hello - May I join you?
Ive just had my 6th MC and am feeling rather down.
I am lucky that I have two lovely daughters though.
This last PG, I was put on daily Clexane injections - but it was my earliest ever mc. As Im now 40, I feel that this is my last window of opportunity but at the same time I dont know if I can put myself through it anymore.
What treatment have any of you been advised? DD2 "made it" by me taking 2 baby aspirins a day, but then I MC that way the next time.

CircularRainbow · 09/11/2008 22:02

tee hee, great story, though guess there wasn't much footsie that evening!

Good night all. Thanks for being here and talk soon
