Hello to everyone coming over from the previous thread and for all the new girls who will sadly be joining us...
You will not find a better bunch of girls to help you through such a hard time, we will get through this with the help of each other xxxx

LOL... I'm such a wuss. When my DH is away, I lean a small table against the bedroom door so that if the door knob turns it will fall over with a bang and wake me up. I'm not sure what I'd actually do if this happened!!! I also check the ridiculously small space under the bed and in the wardrobe in case there are any (midget) pyschos lurking

How's everyone today? Hi vj, sausage, Jonesy, Lilac, 4ever, Circular, sabs, VM and everyone - hope you're all doing okay. Sorry you have been feeling down Sabs and Jonesy, maybe we are all expecting too much of ourselves too soon. I feel fine one minute then devastated the next. I think the pendant sounds beautiful Jonesy - hope it brings some comfort. And I hope MM that you are okay, it's lovely that you went to the service, try not to expect too much from yourself. It made me cry just thinking of you lighting the three candles. It is very brave of you to go.

Nice to meet ya molliemomma, I saw your name earlier in the threads. Look forward to seeing you in our hibernation cave.

Barbie, I was just going to ask if you lived in Dubai. It will be fab if you move to London. Are you in London too Jonesy... Am now fixated with thoughts of brownies. Where does everyone else live? I'm in Greenwich.

Southampton lost the football, but we were there with a big group of friends who organised one of those corporate boxes so it didn't seem to matter. I won £60 and DH won a signed football (meant something to him ) so we have decided to take this as a sign that our luck is changing. Otherwise it was a very up and down day. Everybody seems to want to talk about babies at the moment so I had to sneak out to the loo a couple of times for a cry. I did have a special moment with some stilton though at half time.

Welcome Blue, we need some good news so best of luck ttc. Will have fingers toes and everything crossed for you too VM and VJ if you're trying soon.

Back to work tomorrow and I'm dreading people asking how I am. Only my boss knows what has happened but hopefully people won't ask to many questions

barbie1 · 09/11/2008 18:16

curly nope sadly not in dubai, im in a rain soaked newcastle! dh has the option of taking a job there in the new year, if we decided the terms arent right for us then we will be back to london, richmond/ kingston area so not too far from you.
It will be easier to move to london just so im local for our meet up we have planned when we are all with child!!!
Good luck for tomorrow returning to work, it will be hard but take time out if you need it and of course we are here when you get home what do you do?

barbie - yes, I know what you mean about firing off the imagination; that whole rope scenario made me imagine all kinds of things, such as how would I shimmy down the side of a burning building without having to pass the downstairs room, from which there would be leaping flames and so on! What if my brother was overcome with smoke and I wasn't able to tie the requisite knot? Agghr!

curly - congrats on winning £60 and the signed football too! Maybe that is indeed a sign that your luck is turning...fingers crossed.

Curlywurlee · 09/11/2008 18:30

Thanks Barbie, if it gets too much, I'll take my iphone into the loo for a quick MN fix

A couple of friends of mine live in Richmond, I love it, it's got great shops - and Giraffe, my fave brunch place. They even have a chocolate shop named after me there! Bet Dubai would be lovely though. How exciting How do you feel about it? Do you have a preference?

Curlywurlee · 09/11/2008 18:37

one minute i see myself lying on a beach with vm book enjoying the time with just my dh...walking to the market for fruit and generally all the nice stuff, then i think about falling pregnant, the level of care and what would happen in the worse case scenario..then i think about giving birth and not having family around etc but then i know dh would get our lives back on track, i would have him home 24/7 and not have to plan how to get through 3 months with out him, we could enjoy each other and do as we pleased, no doing up houses...degrees, me working such rubbish hours and of course its another experience to add to our lives....
If we were home, it would be more of a struggle, we have lost so much money on the house because we bought at the wrong time, so living in london wouldnt be the easiest of things. So we would either have to move further outside which means a 2 hour commute for dh, and probably me transferring with my job just so i could take advantage of mat leave if and when i needed it. We wouldnt have a disposible income so would merely be trading water down there, which would mean we didnt enjoy ourselves so much. On the flip side i would get the same health care im getting now, i would get early scans etc etc. My parents and in laws would be a 3 hour drive away..........tbh what ever we choose has its advantages and disadvantages .........

ps i love giraffe too!

CircularRainbow · 09/11/2008 18:57

even asterisk

Brain really must try to keep up with fingers

Curlywurlee · 09/11/2008 18:58

Sounds so familiar. We bought just over a year ago at the peak, gutted the house and are gradually putting it back together, and this year it has been chaos, working like mad, getting married, doing up house, starting a masters! Wouldn't have it any other way really, but now that you mention that beach in Dubai... sounds kinda nice too.

Is healthcare not good in Dubai? I would have thought they'd have top of the range everything

Curlywurlee · 09/11/2008 19:00

Ha ha circular. R u really 140 years old - you seem so much younger!!!!

CircularRainbow · 09/11/2008 19:03

I tend to agree with curly - I would imagine (with the right insurance cover), that Health services in Dubai would be fairly spectacular, brand new equipment, super clean wards, Western trained staff (even Western staff) and so on.

curly - what Masters are you doing, sounds interesting!

CircularRainbow · 09/11/2008 19:07

Those clinics in Italy had better watch out...

Curlywurlee · 09/11/2008 19:09

It's IT related. Sounds dull but is actually lots of fun. I'm addicted to the Internet ;)

Speaking of health insurance Circular , do you think it is worth getting before TTC? DH has it but I'm not sure it's worth it.

barbie1 · 09/11/2008 19:20

curly snap we bought at the peak, gutted it, extention, weekends painting, we also got married in may this year while hubby did the degree in engineering...this year has been the same for the both of us.

I agree with brilliant medical care in dubai its just that over hear they know my history etc....i was in and out just over 10 times in 3 months, worried about doing that over there, they might have me sectioned!

circular looking pretty good for 140!!!

Curlywurlee · 09/11/2008 19:34

I'm with you Barbie, it definitely helps to know the system here. Unfortunately I feel I do know it quite well now.

Is anyone watching Bear Grylis at the moment? He totally cracks me up. I'm almost inspired to go build a raft for getting to work tomorrow. I could probably cobble something together using the trellis and the shed door

CircularRainbow · 09/11/2008 19:56

curly - we have family health insurance but I'm not sure it covers run-of-the-mill pg - every policy/company will be different so it's worth checking the small print and what will be covered.

I almost did an IT-related Masters (boast: even won an EPSRC!!) but I opted to take a job offer instead...5yrs after taking said job, I met dh!

I hardly watch TV atm but I have seen Bear on one or two of his programmes; he makes good watching but some of his stunts are clearly researched and staged (such as the one where he was apparently walking through the African bush at night in lion country... er, that I did not believe - the lion is king of the night and there's no way a human can outwit a lion/pride of lions at night!

Welcome bluesatinsash I am sure you will feel right at home here, vm makes good recommendations.

On second thoughts my update should actually read mm aged 36 (feels like 86) glasgow one dd.

Curlywurlee · 09/11/2008 20:36

Thanks Circular. DH gets it free but I have pay for it so will take your advice and check out the small print.

Sounds like not doing the masters worked out quite well for you! So did you meet DH at work then?

MM, u doing ok?

CircularRainbow · 09/11/2008 20:44

curly - yes, we were working on the same project and attended the same meeting (we had met very fleetingly in a previous project environment 3yrs earlier but we hadn't really known each other IYSWIM). During a coffee break, we had a brief chat on the stairs (ah, the romance, Mills and Boon couldn't beat this) and we got going from there...isn't it the case that work is the most likely places to meet a partner?

How did everyone else meet their partners?

mm1509 · 09/11/2008 20:47

curlee doing ok today, feeling better than I did yesterday. I have been feeling more positive lately and although yesterday was hard it still feels like another step forward, if that makes sense. As for the health insurance I am with circular I don't think they cover normal preg although mine does cover mc investigations just a pity that the obstetrician I have been recommended does not do private consultations........still waiting on the appointment.
