Period after miscarriage

Hello, I had surgical management mid July and I'm losing the will to live waiting for my period.

I know that it can often take around 6 weeks to return but I have had very strong period cramps for the past 2 weeks and no sign of AF.

Have also had a few follow up scans which showed no issues.

My OPK results have also been wild- had a peak on 11/08 and then another almost peak on 20/08. Today they are fairly dark again. We haven't tried this month so not sure why I've done the ovulation tests, just for fun I suppose.

Does anybody have any experience similar to this??

@Newgirl21 that's a good way to look at it! Pressure off must be a comforting feeling although long term you'd prefer a solution 😩
Good luck to you, I hope you get your scan through soon. How frustrating!

@amyh2012, I love the Handmaids Tale, I've even seen it twice. Glad I'm not trying to conceive in those conditions!

I'm trying to patiently wait, but I've gotten a little freaked out. My temp went way down on Sunday (supposed to be o day) then last two days back up to what my temp has been the last two weeks. Ive read that it may take a while for temp to go up, even two days, but you know how every little thing can set you off at this stage. Hopefully it ends up being meaningless.

amyh2012 · 02/11/2021 13:59

@Sdoubleyou at one point I was jealous of the pregnant handmaids 😂 hahaha

Oooh that is weird! Is it meant to slowly increase back up after ovulation? I don't do my temp, it would be different each time, even if I retested straight away.
Did you use the OPKS to confirm ovulation on Sunday?

Sdoubleyou · 02/11/2021 14:05

@amyh2012, my LH went slowly down like usual. But it's not a confirmation of ovulation. They say to do temping or measure progesterone afterwards to confirm. Maybe I didn't o? Or I did but my temp is going up slowly? I don't know. I'm booked to do fertility tests as of next week. Mostly to confirm that everything is ok (or get a head start of it isn't). Sometimes I think that doing all these things helps calm me down, but then having something wonky will make me anxious. So I don't know whether it's really beneficial or not. I guess I'll see over the next few days.

amyh2012 · 02/11/2021 14:08

@Sdoubleyou I never knew that!! I thought it was confirmed with OPKS!

Try not to get down the rabbit hole with it, I'm sure you did ovulate if that's when you normally do🤞🏼

Good luck with the tests, I think I'm planning to do the same. It'll have been a year soon and my cycles are everywhere. Did you book in with your drs?

Sdoubleyou · 02/11/2021 14:14

@amyh2012, no my dr won't take until it's been six months (I'm only at 3.5 after the MC). I called around and found a new clinic that just opened so we're really lucky to be in next week. The waits everywhere else are insane. Not before Feb or six months at other places. Can you imagine trying for one year then being told it's another six months to get an appt!?

It's probably fine. I'm just getting in my head and I really need to stop! I may stop temping next month if it makes me crazy. I get up at weird times too and pee at night so it may be throwing it off. Just breathe 🧘‍♀️

Sdoubleyou · 02/11/2021 14:29

Ok I've found a good page on FF that shows different charts that ended with pregnancy and they were all very different, some not rising until a few days after O. I'm relieved. Oh boy, it's only 2DPO, way too early for me to be going 🤪!

amyh2012 · 02/11/2021 20:34

@Sdoubleyou oh I was talking about a year since we started trying, maybe I'll give them a call if we're out this cycle.

Yeah just try and keep your cool and just relax about it, easier said than done 😂😂

Sdoubleyou · 02/11/2021 21:19

@amyh2012, gotcha! I'm not sure how it works in the UK but here the clinics are mostly private, with some services being covered by healthcare. Like the consultation and some of the tests. And we have amazing public coverage for fertility treatments like IUI and IVF. (I'm not there yet for sure, but it takes the stress down knowing it wouldn't bankrupt us). Very little is out of pocket, when we compare to the states or even other Canadian provinces.

But yes, keeping calm is key. Need to talk down my hamster.

amyh2012 · 02/11/2021 21:25

@Sdoubleyou ahhh I'm with you! We're really lucky to have the NHS but no doubt will have a waiting list for things. Like poor @Newgirl21 and her scans.
I'm not sure about IVF, I think we get 3 times free under the NHS then after that we have to pay for it.

All other treatment is free, I think! Well everything I've done so far is free not that I've had much fertility treatment but I never paid for my pill.

Need to talk down my hamster?? That's a new one 😂😂 I've never heard that one but I like it 🤣😆

Newgirl21 · 04/11/2021 22:13

Hey guys, hope your all well
Just a little update from me… still not received the date for my scan, however I started bleeding today- this feels like a period (my boobs hurt last night, I have my usual pre-period headache and it’s started light rather than heavy like the last time) I’m beginning to think that my previous bleeds and the ‘mass’ I lost may have been another miscarriage, however now I that I have a period at least I know there no retained tissue (if it was) and I’m feeling more positive going forward. x

amyh2012 · 05/11/2021 08:08

Hey @Newgirl21 I hope you're ok? You've really been through the wars with this. I really hope that things have turned a corner for you now and it starts to become easier. I guess it must be a huge relief to know where you're up to with your cycle now? I'm so sorry things haven't been easier for you

Shortmamashortcycles · 05/11/2021 10:08

@Newgirl21, I hope you're feeling ok today - obviously any period isn't fun post mc but all my fingers crossed that this helps your body back to a normal cycle.

Newgirl21 · 05/11/2021 14:54

Thanks guys, I’m doing good 👍🏻 I do feel a sense of relief ☺️ And like I can begin moving forward again. Hope your all well x

Sdoubleyou · 05/11/2021 19:39

@Newgirl21, I was going to ask how you were feeling about it. I'm glad you're feeling like you're moving to the next step. There's nothing more panic-inducing than not knowing what's going in your body. So while it's moving slowly, I really really hope this is "back to normal" for you.

amyh2012 · 06/11/2021 10:49

@Newgirl21 so glad you're feeling good and relieved 😌 it's a new start for you now and you're in control and know where you're up to! Best of luck 🤞🏼

amyh2012 · 06/11/2021 10:51

@Sdoubleyou how are you doing?

Sdoubleyou · 06/11/2021 17:41

Hey @amyh2012, about 6DPO and hanging in there! Have you had your peak yet?

amyh2012 · 08/11/2021 15:56

@Sdoubleyou yes! I'm 1dpo today 🥰

Are you holding off testing? Is it bad that I'm itching already? 🤣🤷🏼‍♀️ the shame.

I got the highest peak reading I've ever had since TTC so I'm so hopeful this month. I'm really proud of my body, even if I don't get pregnant this month! My cycle will be down to about 36 days now rather than 40+! Thank god. That MC really messed with my cycles.

Sdoubleyou · 09/11/2021 00:13

@amyh2012, great!! Yay high peak! Hope you get a sticky one soon!

I'm not too hopeful this month. I don't know why. I guess I'm just finding the whole process a little long so I'm not coming in with high hopes this month. I feel like I'll actually hold out until Friday for testing. I'd wait until longer but I'd like to drink if I'm not pregnant :)

In good news, we had a consultation with a fertility specialist today. If it doesn't happen in the next three months we're gonna go for testing. But doc was really confident that it'll happen before then. It's silly, but hearing his opinion really boosted my confidence in this process. Not confidence in this month, but soon 🤞

Hope everyone is well!

amyh2012 · 09/11/2021 19:04

@Sdoubleyou thank you! You too 😊

I know what you mean, the two week wait is gruelling and it takes it out of me mentally.
I think it's best to be how you are, just relaxed and it is what it is! 🤷🏼‍♀️ either way I'll have my fingers crossed for you!

That must be really reassuring from the fertility specialists, you must feel such a sense of relief and reassurance!

Sdoubleyou · 09/11/2021 23:42

@amyh2012, I 😂😂😂 when I read the part about me being relaxed. It's a front!

I'm telling myself it's only three dodos until I can test. I really hope I hold out, I'm so weak!

Newgirl21 · 10/11/2021 14:04

@Sdoubleyou I’m so glad your appointment went well, that’s gotta be such a relief.

Hope you guys are all hanging in there, wishing you all good vibes, my fingers are tightly crossed for you all 🤞🏻

amyh2012 · 10/11/2021 17:56

@Sdoubleyou omg as if I said the R word😂😂 hilarious!!

You're so close to testing, fingers crossed girl! You got this!

Just relax 🤣

amyh2012 · 10/11/2021 21:20

I have just been wondering how @HP123 is?
