Hi all, I'd unfortunately like to join.
I am awaiting my third consecutive miscarriage to start passing. I should be 6 weeks today and went for a scan at EPU today after some bleeding Sunday which was clotty (so I knew I'd miscarry) and although the sac is the right size and there is a yolk sack (no fetal pole yet) I have a very large haematoma above the sack which has pushed it down to my cervix and so the pregnancy will not be viable.
Frustratingly have to wait a week and if I don't start to pass naturally then I will be rescanned and a decision made then on the best course of action. I'm hoping there isnt a fetal pole or heartbeat next week as that feels much worse knowing the baby is growing fine but will never survive the haematoma. Waiting now for a referral to the recurrent miscarriage clinic to hopefully get some idea why this keeps happening. I have an almost 1 year old so know I can carry healthily.

Ktbabbit88 · 18/08/2021 20:53

The bleeding has slowed right down to next to nothing which is great.
I’m not sure what the pain is meant to feel like though? I was told cramping/period pain.
The pain I’m feeling is hard to explain it’s almost like a strong constipated feeling right in the pit of my tummy, it gets stronger even going for a week almost like pressure?
Going to see how it is tomorrow and if no better ring EPU x

CurbsideProphet · 19/08/2021 16:06

@MrsFLongbottom unfortunately I've just not miscarried. I'm waiting to hear back from the Consultant to know if I'm suitable for the surgical option. They've already offered MVA which I have declined as I can't go through that while I'm awake.
I have to keep ringing and ringing as otherwise they seem to forget I exist. I'm not sure what will happen next.

CurbsideProphet · 19/08/2021 16:07

@Ktbabbit88 I hope you're ok. Definitely call the EPU if you have any worries about pain etc.

Glowinthedarkskeleton · 21/08/2021 22:09

Sadly I’d like to join the thread. Had surgery for a heterotopic pregnancy (an ectopic with a second viable pregnancy in the uterus), which carried a risk of miscarriage for the viable pregnancy. A week after surgery my scan showed no growth and a very slow heartbeat.

I’m due back this week for another scan. It’s horrible because I rationally know it’s not happening but can’t help but think “what if they’re wrong?”. It’s all been so drawn out, I hope what comes next comes quickly so I can move on.

Sorry to everyone going through this. It’s so hard.

MzMaria · 22/08/2021 23:03

Hi all,

Wondering what to expect really. I had an MVA on Wednesday, had some bleeding that day and then it's basically stopped. Having small amount of spotting in morning and then nothing for rest of day, even with 20k step exercise. Having bad cramp type pains, bloating like crazy too but nothing is coming out.

Is this normal?

I'm worried because they left some tissue in (v v small amount) as they couldn't get to it and gave me antibiotics but didn't tell me what to look out for re infection or what normal bleeding would be.

I was expecting bleeding like a heavy period and know really heavy bleeding = go to A&E. Does that mean this super light barely there spotting is okay? Does it just mean they removed lots of tissue or something?

I was 12wks at the MVA, so was expecting a lot more blood. Fetus was only 6wks though.

Bdbel · 23/08/2021 10:24

@MzMaria i am so sorry for your loss. I've been quietly watching this group as I recently miscarried at 8 weeks and I also had an mva.

I had a lot of blood and ended up back in hospital as they had left some behind. My understanding is that spotting is normal.

I was also really bloated, my stomach was huge for the week after and I also had really sharp pains in stomach and painful going to the toilet.

I can say that this has eased now ... 10days later x

MzMaria · 23/08/2021 19:37

Thanks for the reply. I'm so sorry for your loss. Going back in must have been so stressful! My bleeding has picked up a bit today, which is a relief. I've had the same bloating and pain going to the toilet, it's reassuring to know I'm not alone. Hopefully I'll follow the same timescale, I just want it to be over now and to start moving forward.

Bdbel · 23/08/2021 22:41

@MzMaria i hope you're ok ❤️ look after yourself x

CurbsideProphet · 25/08/2021 15:36

@Glowinthedarkskeleton I hope you got on ok. It really is hard, especially when there's a lot of back and forth. I had 19 days between finding out my pregnancy was not viable to having surgical management yesterday (after medical management failed). I haven't had time to grieve with all of the blood tests and scans.

MzMaria · 25/08/2021 22:32

Sending all my love. From my experience, things get a bit emotionally rough over the next week, but then there's a light at the end of the tunnel. I hope you find it too xx

Sunbird24 · 26/08/2021 23:21

Evening all, I’m now on my 4th MMC (1 natural 19 years ago, 3 IVF in the last 9 months, 5 embryos down 3 left) and after a haemorrhage last time will be having an ERPC under GA on Tues. Hoping they’ll be able to do genetic testing on the twin that made it to showing a heartbeat at 8 weeks even though it was much smaller than it should have been at that point. I’m also 43, so want to know if my embryos are all flawed or if it’s something about my body that isn’t helping them grow. I get a little further each time, just enough to allow myself to start getting my hopes up.
So sorry for everyone else going through all this. Would anyone who’s had the procedure mind sharing their experience of how the few days after were for them?

Bdbel · 26/08/2021 23:48

@Sunbird24 I am so sorry to see you on here, I remember you from the other chat. I really hope you have lots of support, it's such a difficult time. I can't help with your procedure... I had an mva and it took 10 days to recover physically. I am so sorry ❤️

Bdbel · 26/08/2021 23:50

I have also asked for genetic testing, I feel like I need to know before I put myself through this again. Is it the nhs doing the tests? I was refused previously because of my age so I don't have much faith but if they've said the same to you that gives me hope that maybe I will hear back this time x

Sunbird24 · 27/08/2021 00:01

Hi @Bdbel it’s a tough old journey isn’t it? I told my parents tonight as I’d not let on i was pregnant again hoping to surprise them with good news for a change, and work know so they’ll be understanding about time off if I need it. My best friend started talking about donor eggs and I had to tell her it was just too soon to even think about that yet!

Bdbel · 27/08/2021 00:05

@Sunbird24 it really is, I really hope something good can come of all this one day. Focus on you and getting through this. Take it day at a time... hopefully the testing will give some answers for both of us and it will help us both with future decisions. I know how scared you must be now... huge hugs xx

Sunbird24 · 27/08/2021 00:07

@Bdbel the consultant at the fertility clinic where I’ve been paying for my treatment also works at the hospital - I don’t know if that makes any difference? I had my haemorrhage at a different hospital and they did recover the embryo but only tested to confirm it was ‘products of conception’ rather than doing genetic testing, despite that being my third MC.
I hope they do agree to do it for you, it’s so hard to decide what to do next when you’re only speculating about what’s going wrong x

CurbsideProphet · 27/08/2021 09:46

@Sunbird24 I had surgical management on Tuesday (3 days ago) after medical management was unsuccessful. Also IVF pregnancy, should have been 7.5 weeks at early scan 3 weeks ago but only measured 5-6. I had some bleeding after surgery while I was still at hospital, but not too heavy. I've not had much bleeding at all over the past day. I've still got some cramping, but nothing unbearable.

I'm still very tired from the general anaesthetic. I couldn't sleep on Tuesday night, even though I had been awake for 18 hours by the time I went to bed. I've slept better the past 2 nights. I'm definitely not fit for work and I won't be thinking about driving for another week. I keep needing to just shut my eyes for 10 mins.

Hope you're as ok as you can be 💐 It's just crap really isn't it.

Sunbird24 · 27/08/2021 11:31

@CurbsideProphet thank you for sharing, I appreciate your insights, think I’ll get the dr to sign me off sick for next week then. Flowers for you too x

CurbsideProphet · 27/08/2021 12:42

@Sunbird24 that's ok, I've never had a general anaesthetic or surgery before, so it does help to hear from others. I did a bit of tidying this morning but now I'm so tired. It's the lack of energy and exhaustion that has really knocked me for six.
I was offered a sick note at my first visit to gynae assessment and then on Tuesday they gave me a new 2 week note before I was discharged. There was no suggestion that I should feel fit for work before then.

weathervane123 · 28/08/2021 07:43

Hi everyone. Just jumping on. I'm so sorry to hear of everyone's losses, and good luck to those who have their bfps.

I had a mmc in April at 6+5 and an ectopic in June. I'm pregnant again and feel like its going to be another loss. 22 dpo today and stuck at 1-2 weeks on a Clearblue digital. I know those things aren't accurate but until EPAU scan me or agree to do bloods it's all I've got. The threshold for 1-2 weeks is a hcg level of 153, which likely means I'm under that. Not great for 22 dpo however you slice it.

I'm not bleeding yet but I wondering whether this might be down to taking progesterone pessaries? Has anyone had any experience with this? Honestly, if my hcg isn't doubling properly and this pregnancy isn't viable I'd rather not prolong the inevitable.

weathervane123 · 28/08/2021 07:55

Actually I’m 23 dpo today, so that’s… just a bit worse then. Sigh.

Daisy7891 · 28/08/2021 09:58

hi after some advice if anyone of you ladies have been through it?
i had a silent miscarriage 4weeks ago and had surgical management i bled lightly fir about 2weeks and it totaly stopped
2days ago i was blue lighted to the hospital after hemoraging out of the blue no pain no nothing just blood and clots gushing out of me i lost a lot of blood it was scary 😟
anyway my bleeding has totaly stopped now!they scanned me and said there is no pregnancy tissue they think i may have had some left and passed it but can't say for sure but they said they can still see some small clots in my uterus that i should pass myself i am back home now no bleeding at all and scared i'm going to hemorage again as these small clots havnt come out!
could this have been like a one day bad period that i needed to be out on drips for etc iv never had a miscarriage so i'm so confused x

Sunbird24 · 28/08/2021 11:03

I’ve started bleeding this morning and I don’t know what to do now. The whole point of the surgery was so they could try and get at least the bigger of the twins for genetic testing so we can work out what the issue is. Seriously contemplating seeing if some of my remaining progesterone will make it stop or at least slow it down so Tuesday can still go ahead.

@Daisy7891 so sorry for your loss, I had a haemorrhage with my previous MC at Easter, also ended up in hospital on a drip. You may be a bit stop-start for a week or two, but you’ll be ok.

CurbsideProphet · 28/08/2021 11:26

@Sunbird24 d you have the direct phone number for gynae? I would call them and ask.

@Daisy7891 that sounds awful, I'm really sorry you've been through all of that. If you have any worries call the gynae unit you're under, hopefully you have their direct number?

@weathervane123 it's difficult to know. Have EPU said when you can be seen? Progesterone didn't prevent a bleed for me with my first IVF failure. With my recent miscarriage I still didn't bleed even after I had stopped the progesterone.
